so here's the back story. The presidential elections were due to occur in four days. President Felipe Alzone, the incumbent president and Horizon Party candidate, had only one serious opponent, Michelle Bukara of the Tradition Party. She had been riding on a wave of nostalgia and, to an extent, fear of the end of isolationism which Alzone advocated and had begun. Leading in the polls, she was taking part in a centuries-old boat race when her craft was blown up. Both the royal and monarchical governments deny any wrongdoing and are inviting intelligence people from other nations to help them investigate.
