Greywatch

New Heaven:

The city was large, crowded, and bustling no matter the hour. The tall buildings glimmered in the evening sun, the sound of human activity could be heard below. It looked like any other city, the same sounds, smells, and sights. But this was no Greywatch city; this was New Heaven, Greywatch’s primary enemy. The two shared a shaky alliance at best, and even then it was not uncommon for there to be… conflicts. Luckily this friction was kept to a minimum, but that didn’t mean it was non-existent. The most watched for enemy of New Heaven was none other than the Forbidden Ministry. Many times, the two had nearly gone to war as a result of discovered spies, secret plots, and questionable organizations. Many times, New Heaven had found itself and its secrets under siege from the organization, the Forbidden Ministry. Two things kept New Heaven from declaring war: one was that the Forbidden Ministry was already known to be a non-Greywatch run organization that moved on its own accord. Second was that Greywatch was far bigger and far more powerful, the only way to bring down the alliance was to do something devastating, and make sure it hit as close to the heart as possible. New Heaven couldn’t afford to declare war on Greywatch and risk facing the entire alliance of races. And so, the Forbidden Ministry continued to be a thorn in New Heaven’s side…

New Heaven Intelligence Agency:

The sound of machinegun fire could be heard echoing through the hallways. A group of New Heaven guards were desperately trying to stop a FM agent. The agent was far more than they, or possibly anyone, could handle. It moved with grace, weaving in and out of the barrage of bullets, moving past each one of them effortlessly. One of the men stopped to reload and in that second he was struck down, a fist impacting with his chest with incredible strength and amazing speed, breaking through his light armor and sending him flying straight back. “By the Emperor-” one of the others was interrupted midsentence by a foot to his head. The foot drove his head into a wall with enough force to shatter the wall and the helmet, crimson liquid splashing all over the surface. The last soldier was just turning his weapon, trying to fire on the monster but before he could even get the chance the agent was already upon him. The foot came around from its kill and smashed into the side of the soldier’s neck, sending the limp body flying down the hallway. The agent straightened up after seeing the aggressors were all taken care of, too bad about the dead one. The Forbidden Ministry actually tried to keep the killing to a minimum so as not to enrage New Heaven even more, but sometimes one doesn’t know their own strength. The agent had already gotten what it had come for, information, important information at that.

Rooftop of Intel Agency:

The agent found its way to the roof, just the perfect place to be. It could already sense multiple reinforcements closing in on its location and immediately worked on establishing its exit. It pulled out a small spherical device shaped and threw it on the ground. The device began powering up and the agent waited. The reinforcements were getting close now, they were nearly to the roof, and the agent didn’t feel like fighting. Looks like the comms system wasn’t as weak as the agent thought, somehow an alert still got through. This would be annoying; chances were the reinforcements were elites, the kind of people who were actually good at their job. The agent knew its capabilities, it was meant for the weaker and unarmored targets, heavy armor and weapons wouldn’t make the situation any better. Especially annoying was the blood stained foot, which would lead the enemies straight to the roof. A door flew open and a man dressed in a sleek silver armor stepped out, golden eyes focused on the FM agent from behind the visor. “You Forbidden monsters have been a thorn in our side long enough! Prepare yourself, for you will be in the next world soon.” The man drew a sword with one hand and a large pistol with the other. The agent stayed silent and drew its own weapon, a curved dagger. Then, a beeping sound was heard and a rift opened behind the agent who took no time stepping through. The NH elite charged at this opening only for the rift to close, taking the agent with it. The elite cursed loudly before looking down, even the device was gone.

Two weeks later, Forbidden Ministry meeting, unknown location:

Two shadowy figures sat across from one another in the dark halls of some old, gothic structure. One of them wore a cloak, the other a suit of black armor.
“Are you aware of your task?” Came a whispering voice from the cloaked figure.
The armor nodded, “Yes, infiltrate and destroy.”
“You know how important this is?”
“Indeed I do.”
“Lives are at stake… and the Forbidden Ministry is also being threatened.”
“They will not get far. They will be destroyed.”
“You are aware of where you will be?”
“In the bowels… the depths… I will be careful, do not worry.”
“And your equipment?”
“I have everything I need. What I do not have, I will buy.”
“Your funds?”
“I’ve been paid well over the years, and I’ve saved my money. I have enough to buy a few mercenaries if need be.”
“Excellent, dismissed.” As the cloaked figure said this, the armor disappeared, leaving no trace of it ever being there.

So, this is essentially the intro to a thread I’ll be starting up soon, one that involves Greywatch’s underworld and, more importantly, gives a closer look at Greywatch’s Forbidden Ministry. For people who don’t know the what the FM is, you’ll learn as the thread goes along. For people would do know what the FM is and are interested about how it operates… well this may be a thread for you. This will mainly be character based and will be SMALL, I really only intend for there to be 2-3 people involve. (Whether this includes myself or not, depends…) Anyway, more details as to what should be expected will come later but it involves a developed city’s underworld, a secret operation, and other fun stuff. So… I guess a signup sheet is required?

Char name:
Bio (short/long/whatever):
Why are they here? (As if I can’t guess):
Tech they’ll be using (Advanced but not godly, please):

Oh yes… godmodding may be allowed in certain areas. This will typically be during the times I have stereotypical gangs of, well, pipe-wielding villains charge your chars. (I shit you not)

Oh right, people who already have reservations:

Alversia

This is now FULL.
Conserative Morality
15-10-2008, 22:32
Char name: Ptolemy Avitus
Bio (short/long/whatever): Ptolemy Avitus is a current member of the squad The Raven's Blood. He was born on Earth in 2034 AD. After they made the journey to Noctisdivu, he joined the Raven's Blood. It was disbanded after an incident that is locked deep within the Senate's classified files, and that he will not talk about. All that is known is that it eliminated 10 of the 12 members of the squad at the time. Ptolemy took the a job training new recruits for the Moralite army. however, after the breakout of the Civil War, Ptolemy had to rejoin The Raven's Blood. He is currently squad leader. He was sent on a solo mission to investigate certain parts of Greywatch's underworld. His squad is currently operating under 'Artie's' command. He is currently 34 Earth years old.
Why are they here?: Moralite intelligence has identified certain parts of the Greywatch underworld that need to be investigated for 'security reasons'. Since Ptolemy is a highly decorated soldier, with experience in both espionage, undercover work, and ground combat, he was nominated to go.
Tech they’ll be using : Light, healing nanites. A GUR-V12 assault rifle, and a HPLR-V3 LAS rifle. He might also request in a powered exoskeleton later (if that's fine).

Angenteria
15-10-2008, 23:46
Char name: Pontius Millham
Bio (short/long/whatever): Pontius, like many citizens of the Holy Imperium, joined the Imperial Guard at the relatively young age of 19 Angenterian Standard, rising to the rank of sergeant. However, he gained the notice of his commanding officers when he had infiltrated and killed the leader of a dangerous anti-imperial terrorist cell, after his squad had been cut down by enemy fire. Noted for his abilities, he had found himself quickly transferred to the Officio Intelligentsia, where his abilities were perfected through rigorous and intense physical and psychological training, after which, he had been used as an assassin and spy for the Holy Imperium, gathering vital intelligence for use by all Imperial organizations. Upon making first contact with the aliens known as the "Greywatch Empire," he had been sent to gather information on the inner-workings of the Greywatch. Taking passage aboard a merchant vessel, he had inserted himself deep in Greywatch territory.
Why are they here? (As if I can’t guess): To gather information on the inner-workings of the Greywatch Empire. There wouldn't be a reason for an Angenterian to be there otherwise.
Tech they’ll be using (Advanced but not godly, please): Dual power-blades, dual autopistols. He wears a skin-tight bodysuit that gives him enhanced protection against the elements, as well as carry extra ammunition.

Marius Grimdark Langford is the kind of person governments keep around for when they need someone to do things they don't want to be tied to themselves. Amoral, greedy, somewhat immature, misogynistic, and a heavy smoker, Langford spent most of his adult life in prison or on the run from the law until the Vojvodina-Nihon Special Intelligence Branch found him. Despite his flaws, he was nevertheless valuable to SI because of his excellence in burglary, his lack of qualms regarding violence, and his unfailing loyalty to those who gain his respect. In addition, SI officers who have worked with him suspect that he is more intelligent than he appears (which isn't hard). Langford is mainly on this mission because he's been paid to go, although by whom and for what purpose is unclear.

Langford's kit includes an old and rather weather-beaten, but still highly functional plasma rifle; his set of knives, supposedly tapered to monomolecular edges and points, which he's given names; a few pieces of chromatic armour, worn less for protection and more for concealment; and lockpicks, drills, lubricants, a fire alarm, and several other small items of the trade, generally concealed underneath the armour.
Xiscapia
16-10-2008, 02:09
Bio: Known among the Xiscapians as part of a group called the Những con hoang Bodominjärvi (Bastards of Bodom), or simply The Five, the Xiscapian Urteil is considered the sanest member. A perfect gentleman, nobody knows where Urteil comes from or who he was before he became involved, but his manners are impeccable, even when he is killing. He holds himself as quite an aristocrat and looks down on most others in his field as clumsy, uncreative brutes, preferring his own unique methods.
Why are they here?
Urteil's reasons are his own, and nobody, least of all the Kitsune Empire, is inclined to stop him from going where he wishes.
Tech they’ll be using:
Simultaneously ridiculously low and incredibly high. On one hand he used such weapons as a cane sword and pearl-handled dueling flintlock pistols, but he also possesses such strange and exotic technology few are sure where they come from or what they do, until he reveals them. The kitsune also has psionic/psychic/magical/Force abilities, a wide and extremely powerful range of such, which he uses rarely but deliberately. Urteil is always dressed in a suit of some kind, but don't take his lack of power armor as a lack of protection...

Hold the phone!! I am indeed in this, just took a little while to free up the time:

Char name: Nathaniel T. Barnes

Bio:
Little is known of Barnes' past apart from that he served in the Alversian Navy prior to becoming a Mercenary. Always looking for a quick way to make money with the minimal effort and brainpower though with maximum explosions.

Why is he here?
If there's a quick buck to be made, Nathan'll be all over it like a Kitsune to potatoes.

Tech he’ll be using: The best he can nick.

---

Char name: Chloe

Bio:
If little is known about Nathan, then less is known about Chloe. The Xiscapian is the father of a rich businessman on Xiscapia itself and she herself was a keen explorer and swordswoman. However, she vanished off the radar for a few years before re-emerging in the company of the Alversian Mercenary. Chloe does not speak of those years and Nathan will not speak of them either. She is a crack markswoman and excellent with a sword.

Why is she here?
Stopping Nathan from getting himself either helplessly drunk, killed or both.

Tech she’ll be using: Her wonderful rifle and, of course, her katana.

Not much here but I want to flesh out their characters as the Rp goes on. The mystery pair :D

Well to flesh this out a bit more, they'll be a storyline, but chances are it will not have anything to do with the other character (unless they so choose to get involved) and will run mainly in the background. The Undercity is a dangerous place, as many will soon find out. If its not the enviroment, it's the people (or creatures) that inhabit it. Basic things to know, despite the fact that this place is largely lawless, people still look out for each other, and dangerous areas are well marked and with good reason. One can expect the typical thugs, villains, gangs, mercenaries, mutants, nasty creatures, and other various *unnatural* suprises. Don't bother thinking of a way to get into the Undercity, that's something I already have covered.
Greywatch

The more common chars of this thread I'll be using:

Redemption: The 7K-ish year old Greyknight and master of fire. Redemption is not to be taken lightly under any cirmcumstances. Never seen in the Undercity, his presence is a sign of possibly bad things to come. "Ya see that poster? One billion universal credits for the man that kills me. Ya know why no one here wants to try? 'Cause killing me is downright impossible."
Wraith: A special agent of the Forbidden Ministry tasked with stopping an event from happening in the Undercity. New Heaven is involved, that's all the Wraith needs to know in order to figure out that something very bad is going to happen. "My mission is clear, my resolve is solid, my body is fluid, you are going to die."
Ghost: Ancient Elden assassin. This reserved soul knows that in the reality of the Undercity, guns can be quite useless. "You're in the undercity. If you're expecting to leave here alive, I suggest you turn back now."

A few other special people may appear but that will be seen as the thread progresses...

Basic things about Cryption:

For those who have not been in the threads where I explain this, Psionics and Psychic abilities are canceled out by Cryption (a little more complicated than that); this is knowledge possessed only by the Forbidden Ministry, who now works tirelessly to find out why. What is known is that while psychic and psionic abilities do not fail per se, there is a Cryptic Aura around Cryptic users that causes such abilities to fail when they close within 1-2 feet of that Cryptic user. Essentially, objects thrown using psi/psy abilities will keep flying while abilites such as electro/pyro/cryokinesis and mindreading, etc will not work on Cryptic users. Cryption is also a very fluid kind of energy; along with summoning armor and weapons (like Leanorians do), the Forbidden Ministry has learned to summon suits of living armor that can bond with its user, enhancing Cryptic abilities and providing extra protection. The side effects of this are unknown.

Cryptic Zones:

When a person (or people) wielding Cryption fight, the invisble (and typically undetectable) Cryptic energies begin to saturate the air. When this happens, those not possessing either strong Cryption or developed Encryption will begin to feel the effects of the high Cryptic levels. The reaction and zones are as follows:

Low: One will feel a tight and temporary squeeze on their heart until their body adjusts to the Cryptic aura. One will find this whenever around an aggressive Cryptic user.

Medium Low: One begins to feel slightly anxious and afraid of what might be coming next. One will find these whenever there are two Cryptic users fighting without the use of a battle barrier.

Medium: One finds it harder to breathe, as if their life is being slowing snuffed out. Movements become slower and the person begins losing the ability to concentrate. These areas are rare.

Medium High: Madness sets it, people without adequate defenses begin going insane as the Cryptic energy levels begin eating away at the mind. These are hard areas to find.

High: Even those without Cryption should be able to tell when high levels of Cryptic energy are nearby (typically by feeling the effects listed in Low-Medium) but sometimes these energy signatures will be masked. Those that carelessly walk into these red zones of Cryptic energy will die almost instantly. These areas are beyond rare.

Al, further questions go here.
Alversia
04-11-2008, 22:03
Sorry, so one of the wall's is made up of bars?
Greywatch
04-11-2008, 22:06
Bars and various unseen traps. Criminal gangs like this one are the more well equiped, so if you're intending to just bend the bars and get out, that's not going to work very well. Also, there is a very heavy door installed at the entrance to make sure the water doesn't spill into the rest of the 'guild hall.'

Well, you're in a flooding room with a well-trained interrogator that really doens't seem to care about its own life. There aren't any exits other than the obvious door and it seems unlikely that one could make it there without permission due to several hidden traps. Top it off with this being an organized group that is very well equipt. Events like these are few, but they'll happen. Respond how you see fit and I'll respond to that appropriately.
