Ascelonia

Ascelonia had to rebuild quickly and reconstruct what was left of their nation. The violence had brought a once great nation to her knees. Factories were cold, dark, and empty. Storages were empty and buildings were broken down. The great capitol was in ruins after the Red Tidean airstrike. The capitol had been taken a great beating and it was being argued between specialists whether it would be better to repair or rebuild on a new site miles away from the old one. Neither idea was too bad, but both were quite costly. The only question was which was costlier. The new site had a natural harbor and was uninhabited as well as safe from earthquakes, which was generally a problem only in the south, and hurricanes, which had been the scourge of Ascelonia City.
The Black Fist was gaining popularity amongst the neo-fascists who began rallying in the borderlands. The time for reconstruction was now. Engineers and specialists hammered away at the drawing boards and scribbled blueprints. They were trying to build an entire civilization back to glory in a few years. A Herculean task all on it's own.
In the disputed territories (during the treaty of Atlantica after the Second War, it was declared a neutral zone and wildlife habitat), a bomb went off. The explosion leaked hundreds and thousands of miles away from Ground Zero through the smoldering capitol of Ascelonia City and unfurling in the endless seas. A mushroom cloud could be seen for miles around the detonation site. It was clear that the Black Fist had caused the destruction, but it was unclear how many more bombs they had.
Meanwhile, the Ascelonian Revolutionary Government's compromise had collapsed and it was back to square one. They could agree on a few things for the Reconstruction plans. It was outlined here:
1. Extension of the Interstate (currently about 25,000 miles in road) to an additional hundred thousand miles in length. Installation of high-tech security system along these roadways and addition of thirty emergency rescue stations for car accidents along the road.
2. Increasing standards for attaining license, improving quality of roadways, and promoting safe driving practices.
3. Offering bailouts to Ascelonian businesses after the war. Reconstructing and remodeling factories, offices, and/or service centers damaged/destroyed by the war.
4. Expanding the high-speed rail system (currently about 400 miles long) to over five thousand miles long with the goal of linking every major city together.
5. Expanding the railway system (currently 180,000 miles long) to almost four hundred thousand miles long with the aim of using renewable energy as opposed to current coal and diesel fired trains.
6. Placing all current criminals under possession of the state under probation with tracking ID chips implanted in them.
7. Future criminals under arrest will be allowed to work for the government for companies operating within Ascelonia to pay off public debt.
8. The construction of a superstructure to attract tourism and rebuild the hospitality sector.
9. Legalization of prostitution and elimination of all regulations except those regarding STDs to improve the condition of the hospitality sector.
10. Reinvestment in alternative energy to power Ascelonia. Especially tidal power, wind power, and solar power. Objective if lining Ascelonia's coasts with tidal power plants, placing wind power plants in remote regions, and establish solar panels throughout the nation.
11. Expanding development of seaports, airports, and nationalizing a bank to allow Ascelonia to form a large and neutral bank for other nations.
12. Reduction of military budget and reallocation of resources to education, healthcare, and homeland security.
13. Promoting the acceptance of minorities and alternative lifestyles to promote a safer environment for civilians inhabiting Ascelonia.
14. Offering more classes (in universities, colleges, and high schools) related to literature, foreign languages, and english.
15. Creating more classes relating to information technology sector.
16. Legalization of recreational drugs in certain regions with strict regulation for entrance and exiting.
17. Aim to gain greater income from ecotourism, tourism (in general), arms production, insurance, security firms, information technology, literature, and banking.
