Government:
The kingdom of Assillia is held upon numerous, varying amounts of power handed to wealthy humans, with the Imperical King, Beloth the Wise, at the top. The kingdom is constantly militarized with seven different families vouching for the position as the Imperial King while simultaneously preventing others from getting it. This fierce competitions allows Assillia to continue growing and strengthening with every family constantly trying to impress the king; it keeps all sects strong by culling the weak, but also keeps him with a large amount of power.
While inside the Kingdom, Beloth has the up most amount of respect and prestige, but the different sects and families are given many freedoms beyond the kingdoms walls. The following families have the rights to building armies, building fortresses, and to commanding a newly conquered city until before the Imperial Elder Council can vote upon who set as the governor.
Below Beloth is the Imperial Elders Council, comprised of retired and aging warriors for the kingdom. They serve as the voice of the people to the king, how ever little he may listen, they are there.
Population:
2,900,000 Men of Adurna
1,121,000 Men of Dardet
674,000 Dwarves
Economy of Assillia:
The Assillian economy is very strong, buoyed by the nation's extensive natural resources and strong trading links. A recent centralisation of industry has drawn people to the towns and villages, creating a moderately affluent middle class of skilled artisans. Chief exports include beef, horses, glass, iron and metalcraft goods ranging from jewellery to full plate harnesses and sophisticated weapons of war.
The Land of Assillia:
The land of Assillia is named after it's conquerer, Assillianus the Conquerer, who took his massive army and conquered the numerous mountains and villages. With such a warm and soothing climate, it was perfect and most suitable for the human conquestors. After exterminating the native goblin tribes of Assillia long ago, numerous cities and forts have constructed:
Arretium the City of Old, capital of Assillia
Ceris the City of the Southern Border, home of the largest fraction of infantry
Tarentum of Platinum, capital of the House of Assliii
Vol Turin of Adurna, single shipyard in the kingdom
Fricia Andla`t the City of Fire, capital of the House of Andlatii
Teirm the City of Towers, capital of the House of Barsconii
Ingothold of Swords, capital of the House of Darnmendii
Vroengard the City in the Sky, heavily guarded fort in mountainous region
These cities, besides the more numerous minor cities, have innumerable small military installations called Gosparains, hidden in the tunnels dug under and around the cities for a last protection. Due to the constant raids from neighboring lands and from goblins, the cities are in constant fear. Above every city, are slanted towers held up by numerous coloumns of suppourt. In each of these oddly shaped towers are the highly trained magicians of tale with the sorcery powers un known to many others. It is fancied that the sorcerers can kill men a mile away and only waste the enery equal of lifting a finger.
Each major city in Assillia has a highborn lord that rules it. For those that are not only city rulers and lords, they are given positions commandeering armies and given the title of Caract, giving them the permission to declare war upon weaker lands without reason and without permission for the Imperial Elders Council.
Armies of Assillia:
Household Army Average: 500,000 Infantry, 7,000 Light Cavalry, 1,500 Caractaon Warriors
Army of the Imperical Hand: 100,000 Infantry, 9,000 Light Cavalry, 4,000 Caractaon Warriors
Household Navy: 32 Ships of the Line
Assillian armies are slow in movement but extremely dangerous. They are bogged down by the heavy, metal armour and favour strength and sheer strategy over chasing enemy armies. In a perfect victory, an Assillian Army can take out their enemy with out moving from their starting point.
The average centre section of a field army are ragged rows of soldiers with varied sizes and shapes of armour. They are armed with seven foot long spears, which they hold out in front of them to stab and take out the enemy before they come into range to throw swords back. Behind them are straight coloumns of soldiers with bright, silver armour, lined with golden coloured linen, and a helmet of choice. They are armed with a standard two and a half foot long sword, after the enemy lines brake from the spear men, this swordsmen charge and strike fear into the enemy's hearts with a fierce war cry.
Suppourt is given by lines are archers behind the spearmen and the swordmen who have their arrows rain down into the incoming enemy soldiers. The more elite archers are given cross bows, capable of doing much more damage than a simple arrow. The archers will normally hide behind the allied lines or in areas that the enemy army can't reach.
After slashing threw large parts of their ranks, organized calvary charges are conducted. Light calvary, called Auxilaria are given light spears and a sword so strike into enemy forces. Heavy calvary, Auxilaria Monueta, form a arrow head formation and charge into the enemy's flanks. This type of charge causes more initial casualties upon the enemy lines and give a good chance for the swords men to catch up. Auxilaria Monueta are armed with three foot long black iron swords, black iron is iron from the comets which once rained upon the Beor Mountain range.
Whilst this normal chaos of battle, yards away from the real battle are where the sorcerers are, where they tap into the enemy soldiers brain and strike them dead, they carry on with this until the battle is finished.
Animals are also incorporated into Assill tatics. Vicious war dogs and bumbling beasts, such as giants and carlwoks (less organized goblins with horns and small tusks), are used a good distraction as swordsmen beat into the enemy lines. Any creature caught and tamed well enough to fight is used, King Beloth is known for using fast moving leopards, and powerful tigers to chase enemy lines. Centuars caught in the Abandoore Forest are also used, they serve as heavy calvary and assist the Auxilaria Monueta in battle.
Overall, the Assill are devastating on the offensive. Every Assillian spends their entire life drilling and training in military maneuvers. Units working together in concert can break or destroy nearly any enemy that dares underestimate them, yet their their poor manueverbility means they are not able to combat light footed and agile foes without take much damage in retrn. With such a bad advantage against elves it make cause for the Assillian generals to pay attention to who they attack.
