New Greali Invasion [MT, Open]

Leocardia
09-10-2008, 00:52
Background
Following the previous failures of invading Greal, the national embarrassment that the Leocardian government faced was brutal. Having to losing more than enough men in the conflict and get out with losing custody and property of the Makoki Isles, the Leocardians want it back. This was the time for their newest set goals, as Jason Batista, the old nation's father, has passed away, the new leader, His Highness Justin Morales has stepped in to Leocardian politics and his strict rule will retrieve what Leocardia lost for a long time.
===========================================

Whistling, Justin Morales came into every television box in Leocardia, at every channel, it was his shadow, whistling the Leocardian fight song. Through the shadow, you can hardly see his face, but it was enough to see his structure and know it was him. Behind him was a bright light showing the Leocardian flag, and it's motto underneath. The tall man looked rather relaxed, not stressed or in the aggressive mood to declare invasion, he was smiling.

Ten minutes of whistling he stopped and began to moisturize his mouth.
Dear citizens of Leocardia, what you have witnessed is another step of our history. Growing concern and worries about the future of our heartland, Batista was a great man, but what is even better is his nomination of picking me out as his replacement, may he rest with the Heavens above. Our nation has accumulated war debt from the past invasions on Greal and made a painstaking loss of custody on our Makoki Isles. The blame should not be towards Jason Batista, but on the lack of power and trained forces we acquired from allied fights. Dear fellow citizens, I come to tell you that we are ready for this glorious war to become victors, and we are going to retrieve our Makoki Isles that once belonged to us, and the sovereign nation of Greal will be part of Leocardia. We lost the first time, but without our morale of winning, today, we will win. Leocardians, united, we will win, because we are the best ethnicity ever on the face of this earth.

The nation of Leocardia treading on dangerous grounds. The nation of Greal is an aspirant to the Feldala Accords, a group of some the most powerful nations on the planet. These nation include Macaabees, Lyras and Questers to name but a few. Furthuremore, the nation is located in Greater Dienstad and is under the protection of most of the nations in that region. We urge the Leocardian government to stand down before there is a wider war and the governments of Greater Dienstad are forced to intervene.

I think that the government of ThePeoplesFreedom has made its point quite clear to the Leocardians, and this is something that The Commonwealth of Zoingo agrees with. Any attempt made on Greal soil will be met not only with force but the backing of alliances and various nations that hold much influence around the world. If an attempt were made, this could most likely backfire on the nation of Leocardia, making them the invadees of their own invasion.

I join the other nations that have made responses to this senseless aggression on behalf of Leocardia, and speak on behalf of the Hegemony and Oceanic Defense Coalition in stating that any attack upon Grealian territory will be seen as an attack upon both the Hegemony and ODECON and will be responded to as such. I advise that the Leocardian government retract it's statements and forces, lest it's aggression become it's own undoing.

(ooc: Not to be a total negative about this thread, but 525,000 battle tanks would drain a practical reserve of oil and/or fuel pretty quick. That said, the supply operation to keep that many tanks alone fueled, on top of all the other vehicles, would be a huge vulnerability, no matter how many fleets of ships you tried to protect the convoys with. That's all. Just thought i'd throw that out there as a practical observation.)

General Dubrilobov sat in his command center. He'd been up since early morning, holding conferences with his command staff and also with various other Commands, including Joint Forces Command and Strategic Command. Currently, he was speaking to Admiral Tiblierovna, CO of the naval fleet still stationed by Greal.

"Their fleet looks sizable, but nothing we can't manage," she was saying. "Light carriers versus our super-carriers?" she referred to the five ships of the fleet, "Not a chance. One wing would suffice, I think."

"Don't underestimate an enemy," the General said coldly. His youthful eyes burned with a lustful glint, hoping these Leocardians were as foolish as they seemed to be.

"You look like you're enjoying this..." the Admiral returned. "No wonder they call you the Dux Bellorum."

"I hope I get the chance to teach these Leocardians why I was given that title," the General chuckled.

The retrofitted Airbus served as an aerial command center, and as it sat on the tarmac of the air base, that was exactly what it was doing. The Premier was holding a tele-conference with his Joint Chiefs, along with General Dubrilobov. He wouldn't admit it, but the General's cold stare was making him somewhat uneasy.

"We will only respond if Greal is attacked," he said in finality. He turned to face General Dubrilobov's screen, "No pre-emptive strikes. We are not a belligerent state."

"Understood, sir," a cool smile broke on the General's face. One by one, the screens blanked out, and the PRemier slouched back in his seat and sighed.

Come on, Greal, just because he has 525,000 MBTs and you do not makes no difference, for he is two years older than you and also has a huge population. Consider Lyras; one of his small orders has 38.8 million men. MILLION men! That's...3,880 Stoklomolvi Imperial Guard divisions. It's not unrealistic, but just amazingly impractical.]

007 Embassy Avenue, Sasha, Greal - 0830

Ralph Richards, Lieutenant Ambassador to Greal, walked into the ambassadors office with an armful of papers under his arm and closed the door. He looked at the ambassador and gave him a strange look followed by a quick nod. The ambassador recognized the signal and flipped a switch under his desk. A small device began to emanate an almost silent electronic jamming signal, blocking any and all eavesdropping devices.

"I know you were briefed earlier this morning sir, but the situation between Leocardia and Greal is deteriorating.. it appears an invasion of Greal is imminent." Ralph said laying out several reports and satellite photos in front of the ambassador.

"And you want to know what we should recommend to the Secretary of State..." Ambassador Jason Robson said inquisitively.

"Well, obviously we would rather have Greal remain... Greal... so, maybe we should institute an embargo against Leocardia, increase diplomatic pressure, call for international sanctions." Ralph suggested idealistically.

"No, no we will have none of this complicated, ineffective diplomatic process business. Besides, we don't want to get on anyone's radar." The ambassador dismissed the suggestion.

"Then what shall we do ambassador? " Richards asked.

"We'll do what we always do: declare neutrality, and use Phoenix Dynamix to secretly funnel weapons to the side we want to win, in this case The Imperial Republic of Greal." the ambassador said matter-of-factly.

"Very well, I will contact Greal leadership through the usual back channels." Lt. Ambassador Richards said as he folded his papers back up and turned to leave.

"Will you notify Secretary Merillion too for me? I have a massag... lunch appointment I can't miss." The ambassador said sheepishly.

"Of course, sir" Ralph said with a sigh as he left the room.

Phoenix, AZ, TPM - A few hours later,

The Phoenix Milita is very disturbed by the expansionist threats being made by Leocardia against Greal, but at this time, we pledge to remain neutral if a conflict erupts. We urge both sides to attempt to resolve their differences diplomatically. We would also like to caution all of those involved that it would be a mistake to upset what little stability the region has in this way.

-Robert Merillion, Secretary of State, The Phoenix Milita

A dark alley, somewhere in Sasha, Greal - around the same time
Ralph Richards passed dropped a small slip of paper into a garbage can in the middle of an alley. He then ducked around the corner, into his still running car, and had his driver take them out of the area as quicly as possible. A few moments later a man in a trenchcoat reached into the garbage can and put the note in his pocket.
The man in the trenchcoat would deliver the message to an agent of Greal's government.
The note contained brief but specific details on the plan to supply weapons, ammunition and supplies covertly to Greal, if they needed it.

OOC: The point of big nations is that we can manage offensive wars more since when your little defense is your worry because your so small. Large nations like my self should also know from experience that just sending all your troops in the plow down the enemy is a waste of time, point of NS wars is two sides (or more) with relative equal numbers fighting it out. I may threaten to send in this mass 7 billion personal army, but realistically for my entire region at least 2 billion would be kept for homeland defense, and then the rest would be spread about the many military branches but never would a responsible large player send there entire army its over kill and just ruins the fun, now say 100,000 - 300,000 initially is good and because your big you also have reserves meaning from a political stand point if the defender can hold out long enough the big guy probably will just go home
Dostanuot Loj
10-10-2008, 02:55
OOC: Technicly speaking, 525,000 tanks of that quality will require about 15 million support personnel alone. Tack on combat personnel, and other servies and support.

And for the record, I have likely the largest armoured force on NS by a long shot, and I barely maintain 1 million active tanks. And that's with a small navy and an air force, infantry, artillery, everything dedicated to the tanks. I highly doubt most nations newer then early 2005 could compete with even half a million active tanks, let alone carry any power projection. Early 2003/late 2003 nations can afford half a million, with some power projection, but they're still concentrating on the tank (Most equip half a million or more total, and keep 200k active).

The Commonwealth of Zoingo is appauled at both the Leocardians and Stocklomolvi. Leocardia has in iteslf, foolishly started its naval forces towards the Greali shores. This is not only foolish, but utterly and downright stupid in ignoring the international community and its outcry on the matter, as well as the forces that is apparently backed by their threats of retaliation upon Leocardia if it invades Greal. We echo what our fellow people say, turn back or find yourself at the bottom of the ocean rather than at the Greal coastline. We shake our heads at you, and hope that one day that you will learn....

Word of Leocardia's threat of invasion reached Ustio, and Prime Minister McCartney was quick to react, ordering the Battlegroup Queen Sarah V to move in to support the defence of Greal. Although it could be over before it begins, the PM wanted Ustian ships to be there just in case,

"Incoming fire," reported the TAO. The warning salvo splashed harmlessly nearby.

"Activate Jormungandr," Admiral Tiblierovna ordered.

Like the AEGIS system all the Commonwealth ships were equipped with, Jormungandr was a defensive platform. Instead of a networked system for a single ship, however, Jormungandr interlinked all defensive and offensive platforms within the fleet, creating a veritable shield over the sea.

A screen appeared in the espers of the CIC, and the Admiral turned to see General Dubrilobov.

"They've fired a warning salvo," she informed him.

"Smite them from the seas," the General snarled.

The casemates of cruisers, destroyers and frigates opened, revealing rows of surface-to-surface Harpoon missiles. Heavy cruisers and battleships traversed their turrets, firing their first salvos of transuranic slugs towards the invading ships. As the barrage began, dozens of missiles were launched, trained on the Leocardian fleet.

In the sky, holding in a pattern to stay out of the initial barrage, more than 400+ combat aircraft waited to be called into action.

We feel that Zoingo did not read the reason for our declaration of war carefully. If you knew about the history between Greal and Stoklomolvi, then you would have known that Greal had been a good ally of Stoklomolvi until it suddenly turned around and declared war on us when it was supporting us with troops in our country. We urge the world to reconsider allying itself with this traitor.

Battlegroup Queen Sarah V, Approaching Free United States-Leocardia Staging Area

Captain Mitchell, head of the Battlegroup and Captain of HMS Queen Sarah V, stood on the bridge of the ship. He raised his binoculars to his eyes, scanning the horizon for any signs of friendly forces - or enemy forces - in the immediate area. He lowered the binoculars, looking around the bridge at the others. They too were looking for other ships. Mitchell checked the radar, but before he could look up a shout from one of the junior officers caused him to jump

"SIR! I see a ship off the port bow!" called the officer

Mitchell quickly turned to look in the direction he was pointing. Sure enough, a grey shape was plainly visible. He looked up the ships mast for a flag - a red flag with a hammer & sickle. He recognised the flag - The Free United States

He picked up the radio

"Hailing Free United States Ships, Hailing Free United States Ships" he began "This is Ustian Battlegroup Queen Sarah V. I understand we have similar goals"

You do realize that most of us are against the Leocardian Invasion, right? But at least you are thinking of diplomacy to solve the matter.

------------

To: All Nations (Mostly Stocklomolvi and Greal)

This leaves us then in a very awkward position, with Greal on one hand, who has the backing of several nations. And Stocklomilvi on the other, who has very justifiable actions on why to invade Greal. And with Leocardia a very small minute factor right now. It seems that there is no right answer in our minds on who to support, as supporting either faction seems like we would be backstabbing someone we don't want to. Maybe a diplomatic way to solve this first before Zoingo is tossed relentlessly into the flames?

In the meantime, military basses from both parties of the conflict in Zoingo are hearby under lockdown and may not engage the other faction.

All ships were fully informed that there were more than two naval fleets after them, but this is what their fleet is designed to take, especially the Juki Class SD. The Houbei Class Missile FACs loaded their ships with Khans and Moskits before knowing they will be shooting them at the enemy ships. The Juki crew readied themselves and tested the rapid missile-shot auto-loader, capable of loading and shooting 5 khans every 20 minutes per missile silo. The fleet was ready, and it would take just a few to completely annihilate an entire enemy fleet.

Overhead, the 3rd Air Force was ready to commence its own attack. The Leocardian ships were alarmed at the sudden appearances of enemy jets as their armor piercing munitions were dropped in an line, specifically targeting the superdreadnaughts. Several automated anti-aerial defensive systems picked up the enemy jets and fired SA-N-6 immediately during salvo shot exercises. The Houbei Classes fired their anti-air guns all over the air, making sure none of the planes would leave the scene in perfect looks. The muntions dropped ripped through one of the enormous Juki Class decks. Black smoke enraged from the decks, as the crew rushed out and tried to tame the flames. The ship's hull was also pierced and major leakage was sited. Up to 13 major hatches were shut, with 43 minor hatches sealed to halt it's sinking, a total of 322 died in the incident.

The Leocardian ships began to seek for enemy ships, noticing a few in range, firing long-ranged Khans, immediately at the ships, to ensure immediate sinkage. Torpedo pods from another Juki Class fired away in their torpedoes, as well as launching several YJ-82 naval missiles, reloading and launching another pack of YJ-82's at the enemy fleet. Unloading the quarter of the total stockpile of the missile.

"Automated systems responding," the TAO replied.

With Jormungandr active, all incoming attacks were tallied into the computer networks, with fire orders sent to the appropriate ships and their CIWS systems. Needle-mine chaff systems were deployed, leaving a haze of protective radar-jamming metal in the sky above. From the larger cruisers and destroyers on the outer rim, SeaRAM missiles fired to intercept the incoming missiles.

The cruisers, destroyers and battleships fired with their naval guns, the Concordia's with their 18 in. transuranic rounds, down to the destroyers 75mm naval cannons.

There were multiple thunderclaps as the Shrikes went back into supersonic, dropping decoy cruise missiles and 'farewell' GBU's on their targets.

From their holding pattern, the first wave of 100 fighters, the Carrier Air Wing of the Crimean Lion, fired air-to-surface Exocet missiles towards the enemy fleet.

From the Miroka(?) Isles, the Commonwealth's 9th Artillery Battalion fired Patriot and Tomahawk missiles towards the enemy fleet.

On the deck below him, pilots rushed to their F-35C's that were waiting on deck. Pilots from the other carriers followed suit, and soon the sky was filled with jets. The carriers and friagates stopped some distance from the FUS ships, keeping them out of range of any attacks

"Send in Lancelot and Bors" Mitchell said over his radio, watching the nearby submarines dissapear into the murky depths. No sooner than he had said this, the two battleships and the four destroyers moved into position alongside the FUS ships. HMS Lancelot & HMS Bors, both veteran ships of the Fleet, had recently been re-equipped during the Greston-Ryou war to include Tomahawk missile launchers, CIWS defences and new 16-inch guns which allowed them to fire chemical tipped shells, along with new armour plating around the ammuntion dump.

Once in position, they quickly aqquired a GPS co-ordinate lock on the nearest ship, firing a pair of Tomahawks each, as two Lun Class Ekranoplans streaked in from behind them, firing a salvo of 12 SS-N-12 Sunburn AshM at the Leocardian ships.

The Dictatorship of Zot109land is a huge, safe nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 957 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 100%. A healthy private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

The latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, travellers are often forcibly evicted by torch-bearing mobs, Zot109land's army is full of two-metre tall super-soldiers, and the controversial show 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?' has become wildly popular. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Our government has been observing the Makoki Isles conflict with great interest. It is my pleasure to inform you that our benevolent and wise leader, Emperor Nero, has expressed a desire to join the conflict to ensure the isles remain with their rightful owner.

As I write this, several of our nation's finest carrier battle groups are already en route to Makoki Isles. With your permission, we would also like to begin airlifting men and material to the island immediately, and request access to an airfield to that end.

OOC: ok everyone involved I'll say this once . . .on the aircraft carrier thing. an air craft carrier has a crew of approximately 6 000. now along with that 6 000 crew there are about three times that needed in logistics personnel from a home base. so that means for every single Air craft carrier you need 24 000 armed forces personnel. For each sub your gonna need around 500 support and logistics people as well as the 50 man crew. About the absolute max a population can support in troops is 15% (and thats fairly wanky). So for you, Zot you could have a total force of 143 MIL TOPS. that force you sent their? 12 million in carrier troops, 350 mil in submersible forces . . .and your already over your limit. Just as a heads up you could field maybe 20 carriers MAX. People before you post ridiculous forces please look into logistics. I'm a naval nation. my navy fields around 30 carriers and I have a 1.8 Billion population. Also my defense spending? 1/4 of my budget. If your RP'ing more than that and you've got a smaller population than me your being ridiculous. (for military spending use NStracker---->http://nstracker.jfsoftware.com/). Finally an aircraft Carrier (and I'm not gewtting into everything else) costs over 444 million dollars a year to upkeep. that means for you roef? those 20 carriers are costing you 621 billion dollars and your defense budget is only 569 billion. Come on people try to make it a little more realistic please.

When your nation reaches a demise,
do not cry back for a surrenderence
treaty.
ooc: I respect you Leocardia, just not at this moment at this time. ;)

Official Communique

It seems to everyone here that these so called "allies" of yours have yet to call in to support you, yet the other nations here are willing to defend the country of Greal. We once again advise Leocardia to rethink the situation and consider a diplomatic solution rather than a military solution to this problem. Has it ever crossed the government of Leocardia if you just use diplomacy to solve this matter? There would be more pressure on Greal to give back jurisdiction to the Makoki Isles back to Leocardia. Instead the pressure is unfortunately on Leocardia to withdraw from its current stance of agression to take the islands by force.

We are more than prepared should this go wrong and we will not "cry back for a surrendurence treaty".

"I understand" replied Mitchell "As I see it General, rank and candour are all very well, but defending Greal is our main priority - as i'm sure yours is too. But, as you are a General and I am merely a Captain, my naval forces are at your disposal. We have a detachment of around 1,000 Royal Marines (OOC:Essentially Army Troops, But For The Navy) who are prepared to land on the Greal shorelines and bolster the troops already stationed there, if needs be"

"What worries me is the intense naval fighting over here... and here.", said one man.
"Of course. If the fighting continues, it could wreck havoc on our fishing and shipping industries. Surly the mainland would not be happy to hear that."
"But we must also take into account what actions we make. Wouldn't calling up the reserves make the others a little... how shall we say... jumpy?"
"Not at all. It just shows that we're ready. After all, not a lot infantry are going to do without ships... our navy is already mobilized and we'll wait to mobilize our Reserve Fleet."
"Then it is settled. Call out a general mobilization for all ground and air assets. Then send a message to those involved. Warn them that we will defend our sovereignty, if we need to."
"Yes sir."
"One more thing..."
"Sir?"
"Man the 800mm guns."

Then Caz's pissed off president launched an attack against the Makoki Islands, this was mainly for revenge but also because Caz liked to throw his weight around. In the end a new set of peace conferences were made and Leo ceded off the rights to the islands to Hegemony. Since it was Greal who the war evolved around the first time, Leo assumed Greal owned the islands when truly, Caz or LS do.

Obviously, we should probably wait untill Leo posts again before we make any more aggresive moves.

EDIT: For the post above me: I agree. I think, that we should atleast wait for a new post of him, before we attack any of his soldiers/civilians/planes/ships... Thats all for now :)

OOC: Okay, but compare:

The Da Vinci Code is a controversial mystery/detective novel by US author Dan Brown, published in 2003 by Doubleday. It follows symbologist Robert Langdon as he investigates a murder in the Louvre, and discovers a battle between the Priory of Sion and Opus Dei over the possibility of Jesus having been married to and fathering a child with Mary Magdalene.

And This:

That was the missile part.

And towards, Unstio and Roef and all that:

Leo just ceded off the land to the Hegemony as a whole so it is unsure who truly owns it but the best bet would be Cazelia whose trigger happiness started the invasion of the Makoki Islands. Leo simply wants his old land back.

OOC: if anyone owned these isles, it would be the Hegemon and Hegemony International Defense Force, but the HIDF has never moved to enforce this claim. The portion of the Makoki Islands that was ceded is technically Hegemony territory, but was not recognized as such by LS (the character) and the HIDF, so while Cazelia may have accepted the cession, the Hegemony did not and it's still really in Leo's hands unless his govt. pulled out in which case it is probably self governing (though still technically a Hegemony protectorate i guess) at the moment.

how about this, why don't we just say someone moved in to the islands to occupy them, or make them a protectorate, something to get the story moving along....like this:

*pulls out mark 4 GodMode device*

Greal forces were on the islands after the incidents took place, but since Greal never assumed control, the island formed its own government, they made a deal with the Hegemony for its protection, and therefore has no military of its own, maybe some crazy militias.

Leo wants the islands back....and they say no, WAR OCCURS!!!!

After light of this recent information, we conclude that this was a compleate misunderstanding on both sides that seems to leave even the bystanders scratching their heads. It seems that a certain important piece of information was left out of this thread that neither side was clear on (thank you Greston). If it is truly the Hegemony, not Greal that administers the islands, we once again offer to have both sides sit down and discuss delivering the Makoki Islands back to Leocardia.

ooc: you know....to make shure that nothing gets out of hand. Im worried that with all of the misunderstanding and confusion that is going on someone will not understand why the Hegemony is giving back a province to Leocardia. Plus, it will give the talks structure, instead of people just yelling at each other (which seems to cause an increasingly number of peace talks ect. to fail or get nowhere). So that one side presents its suggestions as to how the treaty will work out, and then the other side can respond, and so on and so forth. And also, I have never moderated anything what-so-ever, and I wanted to give it a shot. :)
