A Call to Leaders of the World (open MT)

Adopt a Pet!

To World Leaders,

Thanks to the hardworking individuals of the Beatusian Animal Protection Force, many animals, and pets this year have been rescued for dire situations. They have cracked down of animal fighting rings, abandonment, cruelty, and abuse. However, their efforts, maybe in vain, as the animals that have been rescued, now need a home. While we would like to care for each and everyone of them, we have neither the funds, nor the resources to do so. We ask you, as world leaders, to be role models for your people, and adopt an abused or injured animal. To shed light on this real problem that plagues almost all nations of the world. Most, if not all of you, are at least well off, and can provide a good home for at least one or two of these animals. We have a list of animals up for adoption, including photos, and back stories on them below. We hope that you will find it in your heart to save on of these animals before it is too late. The list will be periodically updated, as animals are adopted, or are no longer avaliable for adoption, and as new animals become avaliable.

List of Animals Available for Adoption

Dogs:

Sampson:
http://www.aspca.org/images/content/pagebuilder/667861.jpg
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Color: Brindle
Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Bio: Sampson was found during a drug raid. His drug dealing owner, used him as a security. Most of the time, he kept him chained up in the basement, going for days with out feeding him, only to take him out for drug deals. The dealer could not remember where he found Sampson, but was just released from jail six months before being arrested again. Before that Sampson's history is unknown. He is still quite frightened of humans, justifiably so after the way he was treated, but with, love and care, that can be overcome.

The Following Animals Have Been Adopted:

Jody:
http://www.aspca.org/images/content/pagebuilder/678735.jpg
Breed: Pit Bull mix
Color: Tan/White
Gender: Female
Age: 2 years
Bio: Two weeks ago, Jody was rescued from an abandoned house. Her previous owner, had abandoned the house, after they could no longer afford the mortgage payments. They simply left Jody there, with a bag of dog food, and a dish of water. Luckily, after a few days, a neighbor noticed that his owners hadn't been home in a while, and could hear Jody barking, from inside the home. They were concerned, and alerted authorities. He is quite playful, and adventurous. He enjoys new people, places, and things, and thoroughly enjoys playing fetch, and swimming.

Adopted by Lt. Col. Dwayne Gillis, Osteian 2nd Ranger Batt.

Joan:
http://www.aspca.org/images/content/pagebuilder/681655.jpg
Color: Orange Tabby

Age: 11 months
Bio: Joan was found wondering the streets of the City of the Blessed. Though, right away it was clear that she was a house cat. She had a collar, though the tags had be ripped off, and she had a gash on her back. She is quite playful, and likes other cats.

Niko:
http://www.aspca.org/images/content/pagebuilder/678231.jpg
Color: Black/White

Adopted by Alexander Kazansky, from Allanea.

Scat:
http://www.aspca.org/images/content/pagebuilder/679913.jpg
Color: White/Black
Gender: Male
Age: 8 months

Adopted by Vladimir Burte, President of the United Socialist States of Burtilana.

The Emperor would liek to adopt a few animals and store them within his personal and top quality zoo.

A few Army and Navy units would like to adopt a few animals as mascots as well and ensure that they get a good home.'

We would like to see a list of animals beforehand.

To: Jonas Listless

To think that in a nation where the vast majority of the population is illiterate (OOC: according to the Sunset calculator), you have the nerve to waste time, funds and manpower on liberating animals that were doing more good in the arena than in some, probably filthy, government kennel.

As if gypping your own people was not enough, you hope to pawn the flea-ridden piles of mange off to other world leaders in the hopes that, what?, their citizens too will import disease in furball form?

Lest you wish your nation to become known as the kennel to the world, we would advise that you stop wasting government time and money on worthless pursuits that do nothing to make your country a better place.

In the true humanitarian spirit, we will be sending euthanasia equipment to get you started down the right track; we'll even be so kind as to have the instructions done up in comic book form as I can't imagine that your veterinarians are in the 20% educated enough to be able to read.

Hoping you yourself are able to read,

The Osteian Second Ranger Battalion would like to adopt 'Jody' to serve as a mascot, the mascot for the Battalion happens to be a Pitbull. Jody will be treated very well and will live comfortably on the base where there are many open fields and people to care for her. The details attached with the dogs description are everything we need.

Thank you,

[OOC: Zinaire, the Sunset calculator is a very screwed up calculator and I would consider it to be unreliable. Use the NSEconomy calculator instead; it's far more universal.]

OOC: But doesn't have literacy figures (I do use NSEconomy/Tracker for all economic figures). I came across the 20% literacy thing while poking around and decided to use it as fodder in my PM's rant against all things compassionate people hold dear.

We thank you for this act of compassion. We are glad to see Jody going to such a good home. Would you like to pick Jody up yourself, or do you wish for us to send him to you?

[OOC: yes, but it just uses the government spending in education. Which is none. You see, our laws are different. By law, every child must attend school. Also, by law, said school must meet certain standards. The government does not provide said schools, however, by mandating it, we create demand, which the great free market meets. Competition drives prices down, while the fact that every child must attend, means that investors know that it's a sound investment, as there will always be a demand for it. Also, the Military, seeing education as important in new recruits, with the help of Law Enforcement, are strict in enforcing the laws, and maintaining Schools standards. It all works out.]

OOC: Regardless, we're looking at a big fat $0 in the education budget, so 20% may be an overestimate. Unless, of course, you want to argue that departmental budgets should be set independent of calculations too.

That's one of the most predatory policies I've ever seen. You're basically using the police and even the military as collection agents for independent schools who price-gauge because of the artificial demand you created. You might as well just start a nation-wide protection racket.

Subject: Kitten (Joan)

Greetings,

I would personally like to adopt the kitten christened with the name of Joan as a member of the Thornton family due to my wife's attachment to the said kitten. She has been quite adamant on me securing the adoption and thus I've written this letter to ask for it to be all made official. Joan will be given superb treatment, good food, and the love and care of my wife along with myself, of course, since I would not want to be accused of neglecting animals like this cat. If it is not possible for you to send her to us, then I can personally come to your nation, with my wife, to adopt her in person. I must thank you in advance and I wish you all the best in finding these animals the love and care they need.

Sincerely,
Anthony Thornton

To Anthony Thornton,

We thank you for your generosity. We can deliver the Joan to your nation. However, it will take some time, as we feel that, it is best for the animals to travel by land/sea as apposed to air, for their health.

The Dominion of Sarrowquand must protest that vunerable animals are being considered for export. Given the history of these pets it seems unlikely that they would survive the transition from one state to another.

To the Dominion of Sarrowquand,

We note your point, however, feel that it is not completely valid. While air travel can put much stress on animals, ground and sea travel is much less stressful, and that is the only way we transport animals to other nations. Also, if the choice is between risking transport, or having to put them down, we feel that the risk is better than the certainty.
