The Slavian Isles

History:

Years ago the Slavians practiced magic as if it had no side effects possible, they were pround, they were happy. They were also foolish. When particulary large spell to attempt to make themsleves immortal went horribly wrong, the after effects were that the islands themselves were permenatly saturated with magic, which caused mutations to the surroundings, wildlife, and the Slavians themsleves, both physically, and mentally, that day, and the years that followed were called the 'Age of Chaos'. Since that day, they did not know how they rebuilt their lives, but all they know is that Magic is the reason that they are forever blemished and bitter. From that they also, the vowed they would not touch 'it' that insted they would rely on pure man made technology.

This was years ago, and people were quite happy, but recently, something has emerged. Constantine Godfrey had found away to solidify the magic that naturaly surrounds the area. This is in the form of a glowing light blue crystal. When used in conjunction with Gunpowder, and other mechanisims, he found that this new substance increased proformance of the machine they were used on. The goverment adopted this instantly, the older generation on the other hand, were disgusted, that the goverment that shared their hatred for 'it' for long, had suddenly let it back into society, under a new form and a new name 'Elzanite'. To this day, tensions are high, and normal people may be afraid of a potientail civil war between the 'Luddites' and the 'Advancers'

Economy:

The Slavians, previous attempts to establish an economy have failed, as people prefered to trade physical goods, such as grain, or iron. The recent currency, made from Copper and Iron however has found to be quite successful,


Government:

Their is a council of Slavia, who are elected by the people, however, its the Head of State that makes desiscions, the council are there just to advise. The Head does not interfere with normal life, as long as they stay in line. The second someone opens their mouth too wide, they 'disappear' from society


Military:

The Slavian Military is a small one, but expert in defence. The Slavians are not interested in other territories, and infact, they distrust outsiders, its just in their nature. The army is Basicly all Riflemen, armed with Arquebus smoothbore, with fast moving lancer cavalry, artillary, and well drilled melee troops.

But with as with most things the intorduction of Elzanite, has improved their army. Gunpowder with a small amount of it, makes the weapon more potent with a longer range, the same is applied to artillary aswell, as a side effect the guns have sparkley smoke and blue flames when fireing, but it also makes a gun, or artillary misfire, more dangerous. The Lancers rather then horses, have the Mechano-Steed. This is essietally, a clockwork horse, powered by Elzanite. It isn't as fast or intelligent as a real horse, but it is more sturdy, and fearless (well, as fearless as the riders themselves), however, due to them being experimental, they are small in number, and as such, the Lancers are small in number. The melee troops havn't been effected by Elzanite yet, but something will come sooner or later.

They don't have a navy, partially because they are not intrested in going out and trading with other people, mostly because the magic around the islands means that compasses and similar navigation equipment are unreliable. An invaders best bet is to know where the island is in the first place, stumble across it, or have a wizard that can see through the magical disturbance


Religion:

The Slavians are completely Atheist, and will often make fun of the more pious nations. Not actually in their nation, or to one of their faces though, they are not stupid


People:

The people, are human, but they are mutated by long exposure to the magical saturation around the islands. They have dark skin, and blank eyes, giving them a inhuman appearance, the saturation has also modified them mentally, which makes makes the Slavians, 'abnormal' to other races standereds. Their main trait of this, is that they dislike outsiders

Oliver Marx An ancient and bitter man, his Great Great Grandfather was around near the ending years of the 'Age of Chaos' and holds the tradition of hating magic true to his heart. Head of the 'Luddites' or 'Last generation'
Beatrice Marx Daughter of Oliver Marx. A skilled Spy
Sir Victor Von Carsten Current head of the army
Trooper Faul Kantro Rifleman in the Army. Will play an important role in the future
Marcus Fenix Engineer. Invents MEI technology. Its used as a way of passing through the field at first, but then, it is adapted to suit dark purposes

Accepted with a few exceptions. First, lose the golems. nice idea, but there are no mecha in this rp. I like the whole "Skaven using warpstone to exponentially increase a tool's power" idea. I'll accept the clock-work horses on the condition that they be limited in number. No vast horde of metal horses. That in itself would be a rather hard thing to maintain, so be sure to rp them as fairly as possible. Also, there are no rifled guns in the rp. Arquebus smoothbore and wheel-lock pistols are as advanced as it gets in small arms.

Other than that, accepted. Population: 1.8 million
