Tired of scrounging off of others just to feed your dirty, commy habit? Socialism simply fail and not paying the bills? The Transitionary Rehabilitation of Emerging Economies initiative is here to help you get over communism, today!

In a perfect world, communism would never have happened. But here at TREE, we understand that you didn’t know it was such a terrible, terrible idea, and we’re here to bail you out!

Mission Aims
TREE was founded in autumn, 2008, as a primarily Hryvatian-sponsored program to ease the financial and political suffering of ex-communist and socialist nations who have since been liberated, and are now democratic, but who are struggling to manage the transition from a controlled to free market.

History and Direction
The Kingdom of Hryvatia (often referred to as the ’Second Kingdom’) broke free of the Socialist Federal Republic in 1991, after a bitter conflict with the regional superpower. Although the independent Hryvatian economy struggled somewhat in its first few years, mostly due to the after-effects of the war, Hryvatia has managed the transition from socialism to capitalism remarkably well. However, not all states manage to adopt a free market with such enthusiasm after years of totalitarian communism, and may require the intervention and direction the international capitalist community can offer. With TREE, your nation can be put on the road to recovery!

Actions and Involvement
TREE aims towards helping those on the road towards democratic capitalism through international cooperation and aid, dubbed the '1UP' program. Why? Because Capitalism is the TREE of life!™ [xD cringe]

TREE therefore requires other, established capitalist nations of the international community to pledge financial, defensive and advisory support to all nations requesting aid from the initiative. By doing so your entity agrees to abide by the following:

That all liberal, ex-socialist/communist nations requesting aid from TREE shall be guaranteed protection from the initiative’s capitalist supporters, in order to ensure that it does not fall prey to communist invasion and/or reoccupation.

That all donations are to be given freely to the organization, in order to be distributed amongst those who have requested aid, on a case-by-case basis.

Donated sums that are distributed via loans shall be retained by the initiative in order to fund future loans to pro-capitalist transitionary states.

Rates of interest and repayment will be decided by the organization on a case-by-case basis, however will never compromise the requestor’s development.

Should TREE cease in activity, the loans will be repaid to the Hryvatian government who will then return said funds to its original donator, plus the interest previously gained.

Should loan repayments cease, the subject nation willingly abandon capitalism or not invest the donated or loaned funds into their economic development, the supporters and financers of TREE reserve their right to the invasion and occupation of said state unless or until said funds are returned.

The Kingdom notes that the People's Republic of Prokha's economy is a "basket case", and subsequently wishes to offer to purchase the entire People's Republic for 17 Coronae, half a Chupa Chups and a button I only just now discovered in my jacket pocket.

Furthermore, I wish to reiterate that TREE is a non-profit international organization of the Hryvatian Vlada, and thus too lowly motivated to become aggravated by your 'accusations'. I, however, have nothing better to do.

Hvala lijepa.

Socialism without Freedom is slavery and brutality. Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice
Mikhail Bakunin

Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.
Benito Mussolini

First, we sympathize fully with the former plight of the Kingdom of Hryvatia, as some of our very people is at this moment, in the Iberian region of Europe, oppressed by one of those so-called "communist" nations, which in truth are nothing but the take-over of the role of the corporate capitalist as the accumulator of wealth by a corrupt government with absolute power, bent on nothing but a total disaster, of both economical and humane proportions, with all the crimes against humanity that such mass-murdering, genocidal rules hypocritically proclaimed "communist" but far from ever reaching a pint of the hallucinated utopia of a vagabond, lowlife and drunkard funded by his wealthy friend, who believed that an equalitarian society could be achieved through a dictatorship. And, even though we disagree with capitalism as the only alternative to them, we stand totally against any form of economy monopolized by a government, and by consequence, a economy enslaved by a government.

In a perfect world, neither the tyrannical, genocidal state-controlled monopolist capitalism of the former Soviet bloc, nor the not as ruthless false free market and corporate economy of its rivals should have ever existed. The same principle shapes both, which albeit widely opposed, are common in one thing, although it's even more brutal in "communist" countries: the exploitation of man by man, be the exploiter a totalitarian government self-proclaimed communist enslaving its people, or those with control over most wealth, with almost full bargaining power to the contracts that those, deprived of having their own means of production for not being born rich, need to accept for their survival: wage slavery.

There is little difference, in a broader view, between the ambitions of a corporate goon and of an opportunist in the so-called communist party. Both systems are shaped over the conformity, either induced by violent coercion or psychological manipulations of panes et circensis, of a larger parcel of the population over the dominance of a minority of the upper class. It matters little if such upper class is technically united like a Stalinist bureaucracy or split like a corporate market bent on the formation of monopolies and oligopolies and in the very concentration of wealth into so few that claiming such market was still free, past a point of development, would be akin to claiming that a mass-murdering leader of a false communist tyranny, living in luxury with his "comrades" at the expense of those devoid of political power, has created a classless society.

For some, there is no "Third Way", and the questionable left and right are based on either more power to a political or to an economical upper class. It is by this very reason, of the way that false socialism in the form of capitalist economies monopolized by the government as the new "bourgeois", coupled with the moral and intellectual decadence of the "New Left", that many in the Confederacy refuse to label its policies in one of these superficial conceptions.

There is a Third Way however, for a society economical and political relations do not need to necessarily be founded upon coercion and privilege. Such alternative, that is a much better future for those states that became freed from the much worse State-monopolized capitalism and its slavery, is the way of Neo-mutualism. What it requires is the promotion of a cultural, rather than forced economical shift.

Normatively, there is no freer and more "capitalistic" market than the Confederacy of Third Spanish. There are no laws regulating the establishment of business, no environmental laws, no taxes neither a government to collect them, the entirety of traditionally public services, including military and security, controlled by private organizations, and no prohibitions to what can be traded or produced.

Now, I ask for you to have an open mind, for this is likely something completely alien to your people, for Third Spanish States is a socialist free market. It's relatively simple to explain how it works: the basis for the organization of all private businesses is called workers cooperative, a business which goal is to attend to the interests of all its members, which of course does include, but does not limits to, the goal of profit. Cooperatives basically ensure that their members can collectively bargain for education, healthcare, purchases for both personal use and business investment, among many others, and are democratically-run, where one member equals one vote, and all have the same share of wealth, encouraging collective hard-work over internal and predatory competition, for the harder they work together, the more they will earn, different from the typical dilemma of planned and communist economic proposals, where the lack of gain from more efforts would stall progress.

As for "lazy people", the membership to a cooperative is not permanent, and thus those who prove to be attempting to exploit the work of others by doing almost nothing can be, and will be dismissed by democratic vote. However, by knowing that he is not an employee, but one of the owners of the means of production, the average cooperative worker is usually highly motivated, for he knows that their failure will not only make them lose their membership, but lead all of them to bankrupcy.

Now regarding why it works, and why people have not tried to attain hierarchy positions or power into what for some is a "gap", then I believe that a certain article of one of our journalists making a brief comparison between the culture of the Confederacy and the current culture of Questers resumes it quite well. I believe this excerpt says it all:

With a culture like that of the Confederacy, capitalism established through democratic and free choices(or I would say, wrong choices) is virtually impossible. With a culture like that of Questers, socialism established through democratic and free choices is virtually impossible.

The settlers of the Confederacy were betrayed by both capitalism, by another crippling economic crisis, and by "communism" as it destroyed the people of Spain, decades ago, and a few have managed to give the push into basic cultural values for part of the population that would sprout again the seeds that were sown by the not so perfect anarchist revolution in Catalonia, during the Spanish Civil War of the 20th Century. In harsh conditions where the worth of cooperation over competition was molded, the foundations of our civilization were established.

Many of our cooperatives are as efficient as capitalist companies, and as there are no costs with fixed wages, and as our people has acquired a long-term mindset, they in certain areas match up or even are superior the best corporations of the world, particularly regarding consumer and environmental ethics. Is with this in mind, that I ask for the Transitionary Rehabilitation of Emerging Economies to negotiate a possible accord with our cooperatives into the role of raising victims from the decadence of fully government controlled economies, and I really hope and trust that, your commitment to free market is not partial to the interest of a few corporations in such matter, and thus, we can settle for a healthy competition between our cooperatives and private corporations, to ensure a freer and less monopolistic or oligopolistic market. As what shapes the difference between our economies and private businesses is only culture rather than laws or market restrictions, I hope that such interaction might bring positive results and be accepted.

[OOC: Sorry TSS, but I'm finding it difficult to make sense of large sections of your post, and I believe you mean 'syndicalist' rather than 'socialist'. Also syndicalism is more a form of democratically organized labour than an economic system itself, as it is compatible with either state-ownership or privatism. Hryvatia, for example, enjoys family syndicates as part of its capitalist system, however the democratic workplace is not compulsory as this would simply scare-off international corporations and cripple the economy.

Regardless, if you wish to continue this discussion I would be happy to on #d, however this thread is not the place to flaunt your nation's obscure economic models and argue over who's right and who's wrong, it is for the rehab of willing commies and supporters. Nothing else.]

[OOC: You can condemn it if you like, but it's a non-profit organization aimed at relieving poverty and economic stress for those nations who are already willingly making the transition from a communist to a free market. Seems perfectly reasonable to me, but then again commies seem to like to condemn everything.

If you could make your post rather interesting, or at least relevant to the organization and it's aims, that'd be great. Also please remember that this thread is somewhat tongue-in-cheek.]

Hryvatia, their democratic workplace is not compulsory, but more of a cultural consequence of theirs, but the prime point of all the IC boasting is actually as a sort of "Hey, we want to compete a slice of the pie and help the former commies too! And if you don't let us is because you are afraid!" challenge-like request(on purpose) of their cooperatives to associate with the organization and further its goals, and their own agendas too, as they have interests into establishing new units in former command economies)

Unfortunately, TREE is currently uninterested in your proposal, Ms. Lockhelm. We do however, welcome all donations to the TREE Treasury from both yourself and the most honourable Motokatans. Once a donation has been received, TREE will proudly list your nation as a supporter of emerging ex-communist free-market states, and will immediately recognize your right to military intervention in the defence of these states from communist aggressors.

Dobar Dan.

Volodimir was pissed.

More than pissed. Certain newspapers in Russkya tended to run the more harmless of international notices in full, because sometimes they were just so damn funny - like anything coming out of that godforsaken Hellhole that called itself The Ryou Black Islands. TREE would have fallen under the same category for Volodimir except that Volodimir was one of the rapidly dwindling number of hardline Russkyan Communists. But Volodimir knew what he had to do.

A case of Guinness and a pot of chili later, Volodimir was carefully preparing a mailing package, already addressed. As was normal for the RSKPOCH nationalized mail service, it was made of treated cardboard, highly water resistant and worth the seven "monetary units" required to buy one for international shipping. Volodimir refused to recognize the Russkyari, a holdover from the Transitionary Government, as valid currency. He still had COMECON roubles in his wallet, though these were no longer legal tender. Aluminum foil carefully lined the RSKPOCH package's interior. He felt ill, his gastrointestinal tract had taken on a surly attitude. It's for the best, he thought, doffing the boxers that were his only article of clothing at the moment.
In the dingy hallway outside his cramped apartment in the Soviet-era apartment block, a passerby thought he heard grunting. He shrugged and hunched into his RVMF surplus peacoat. The fall wind was cold, and that asshole Ryalkin left it open until early December.

Satisfied with his work, if one could call it that, Volodimir tented tinfoil over the top of the au naturale gift and sealed the package. Nothing would go amiss until the package was opened, he was sure. Donning a linen shirt and a pair of jeans, he took the stairs down two at a time, passing his landlord on the way out the front double doors. All the while, he held his package at half an arm's length from his body, grinning gleefully like the pranking schoolboy he was, and ignored the raised eyebrow from Ryalkin.

"Good afternoon, Gospodin Ryalkin."
"Good afternoon to you, Volodimir Lvovich." Ryalkin's response was automatic and socially acceptable, though not delivered in the friendliest of tones. Oh well - Ryalkin was an asshole. Everybody knew it. Especially Ryalkin, because he delighted in it. The Gordon Ramsey of landlords, sans any skills Ramsey has.

At the post office, Volodimir paid $23 Universal Standard to ship the package via express to Kraljevina Hryvátija. Specifically 3 Visoka ulica of Grad Mia.

We have recieved word of your initiative and wish to contribute. As you may or may not be aware of, we are a Conogolomerat. We are a manufacturing and retail corporation and we create indutrial-retail complexes which import raw materials, provide finished products for managers and assembly-line workers and export our surplus for up to 300% the value of the raw materials. Particularly when we are exporting surplus automobiles.

Let us cut to the chase. You are rehabilitating emerging capitalist economies and their EHAWED-afflicted leaders. We work in establishing complexes which essentially cram a factory, a department store and middle-management offices into one building, while also building 150-storey high apartment complexes to house them.

We want to provide these systems in order to teach our way of capitalism to others and make a profit by transfering these over to native corporations and buying 25% of the shares on their IPO. We will also donate $30 billion to your cause and only request you to the paperwork for getting us into the country - we will buy materials necessary to set-up in their country.
