Hegemony Emergency Council Meeting (MT, ATTN Hegemony)
Lord Sumguy
02-10-2008, 21:26
Hegemonic Headquarters, Sugmuaia:
Mary basset paced the conference room slowly. She, as actng Hegemon, had called an emergency meeting of the Hegemonic Council. The Hegemon, Lord Sumguy, had died but days beforehand, and it was vital that a new Hegemon be elected as soon as possible.
"What is the time?" She asked a guard, who was standing by the door.
"Six minutes to five, ma'am." The man responded, after looking at his watch.
They should be arriving any moment then. Mary thought. She pured hersef a glass of water from the pitcher that was sitting on a long conference table. And to think that but three days ago I was a secretary.
She was clothed in a black dress to sho that she was in mourning of the Hegemon's death, wearing a black veil that covered her eyes, completely obscuring them from outside view, while not impeding her own eyesight. Calmly she waited, sipping occasionally from the glass she now held.
OOC: not my best post ever. meh.
OOC:I've done worse . . .almost always . . .

Admiral Hawk was, really, the only available highly ranked diplomat who could take care of himself in case of attack. Even so he was flanked by a full squad of Dsofcoms as he walked into the meeting room. "ma'm" he said formally "I was sorry to hear of the death of lord Sumguy. now whats this about?"

The past events of the last few weeks had caused a lot of things to change, peace and assassination was not a good combination, and now the alliance was going to have an emergency meeting to determine the future.
For this meeting President Nicolas Villa was going himself, under major international security. An entire Joint Strike fighter wing was sent to escort him, consisting of 12 Su-34s and 6 Su-35. Under orders to stay in country as long as the president was.
President Villa walked with his staff of three advisers and 12 Jaguar Elites, Presidential staff. The Presidential Staff was the best of the best Jaguar Elites. Men trained with any weapon, any vehicle, anything that Mokastana might face. As the entourage approached the guards peeled off to work security while the president and his staff walked into the room. The situation was grim.
"Mary " Nicolas said bowing slowly to the woman, "I came as soon as I could, how can Mokastana be of service?"
'First James, now the Hegemon. What next?' Thought Ingram as he lit a cigarette. The two kreigsmarines next to him sat duly, with their faces hidden behind their gas masks. Ingram had always wondered if the men ever overheated while they were wearing their helmets, but cut the thought short after he noticed that the vehicle had stopped. He turned his head and looked
out the window, and noticed that he had arrived.
Ingram grabbed his forty-five colt and tucked it into his inner coat pocket before opening the door of the car. He hastily discarded his cigarette and took a quick look at the new Hegemon. The black colors she was wearing just made him feel worse about Lord Sumguy's untimely passing. A tear began to form in his eye but he wiped it away in an attempt to show strength through this dark time.
He approached the Hegemon and extended his hand, but pulled it back, and then extended it again. His guards noticed this and looked at each other. They were not able to see what the other man's face looked like due to their masks which they were ordered to wear when guarding an official.
"Cazatania will stand by you in these dark times, Miss Basset. You need only to ask, and we will give our lives in the name of the Hegemony."
President Martin Watson was not happy. He got out of the limo, followed by Will Riddle. Martin was sadden by Lord Sumguy's death, but it only seemed to worsen the political crisis arising in Greal. A potential presidential rival was killed in a bomb explosion, causing shock waves, and some people believed Martin was responsible. Why does this have to arise now?
Martin and Will were followed by a squad of Imperial Guardsmen. Martin ignored their presence and walked into the meeting room. The other delegates were already there. Martin was annoyed by Ingram's presence, but he managed to hide it well. He spoke in Mary Basset in a quiet way.
"On the behalf of the people of Greal, I wish to offer our condolences."
It was a sad time for all, the world had changed; old countries forgoten, new ones arriving, leaders vanishing, new ones approaching....it was alot for everyone to take in at such a time of the Hegemony, and that is just what Mr. Dalons had to take in as the new Prime Minister of The Commonwealth.
The recent death of Lord Sumguy followed by the ending of Roland Massaquine's term was a pill that Zoingo was unwilling, but had to, swallow down. Especially Roland Massaquine's resignation, which ended the era of a man that brought Zoingo out of the dark and into the Hegemony as well as meeting new countries and allies. It indeed was alot to take in......
Martin walked into the room to share news with the others, an official meeting between himself and Zoingo's allies had not taken a formality untill now, and he needed to make it quite clear.
"Im sorry to inform everyone that Roland Massaquine, has resigned from his position as Prime Minister, which I hope to fill with the best of my abilities and be able to work with my fellow allies."

Ms. Baset smiled warmly at the assembled delegates. "I thank you all for coming to this meeting, and beleive hat we now have enough member states present to begin. If there are no objections or more pressing matters, the first order of business will be the election of a new Hegemon. Is this an acceptable place to begin the council meeting?"
"Yes, I believe that is a good starting point." Martin said to break the ice. "This topic should be taken care of as quickly as possible."

Nicolas Villa sat down watching the group form and prepare for the meeting.
"Do we have anyone we would trust with the power of Hegmon?"
"Unfortunately, I wish I could name someone...." Martin thought. "Anyone here that was under the administration of Lord Sumguy?"
Watson looked at the delegates one by one, very quickly. No one seems suitable for this job. "I agree this is a good starting point. We should began accepting nominations."

"Unfortunately, I wish I could name someone...." Martin thought. "Anyone here that was under the administration of Lord Sumguy?"
"I have served as the Hegemon's secretary for the past eight years." Mary said with a faint smile. "In his will he has stated that he wishes for me to submit myself as a candidate for the office of Hegemon. If there are no objections then I shall do so."
"Okay....anyone else?" Martin asked.

Nicolas looked over the group around him.
"I believe it is only fair someone who worked under the Hegmon to run the Hegemony, since I believe that they would have the most experience."
"Couldn't agree more....I mean, most of the leaders under that administration are either no longer alive, or no longer holding a political office."
Lord Sumguy

"Are there any else who wish to nominate a person for the position?" Mary asked, looking around. She had not expected to be the only candidate.

OOC: bump
Martin sat there, perplexed, no one else had offered themselves to be a candidate, and he just sat there looking at Mary....until finally he said.
"I think I speak for everyone here when I say that you are the only one here that seems to be perfectly fit for the job. Everyone else here is either brand new to the scene of foreign affairs, or does not feel that they have the qualifications to be a Hegemon."
He then got up and handed Mary a note...
"This was a note that was at my office before I left for here." he added

To: The Hegemonic Council
From: Former Zoingo Prime Minister Roland J. Massaquine
This is a troubling time for all, the people in which our countries that were so looked to....are slowly leaving.....and many are saying 'this cannot be happening'. I’m afraid so, those that make our countries rise up do not last for and eternity and the ones that fill their positions is not always an easy task.
Let me say that I knew Lord Sumguy before politics, when he was just a liberator starting a revolution in a country that was named after him. Then, years later, there was a ball, and I met Lord Sumguy again, which catapulted Zoingo out of isolation and into an alliance. And beyond that, I was constantly asking for advice from him and how I should lead my country further into the world, advice in which I now continually appreciate. This has gotten Zoingo through good times and bad, war and peace, stability and chaos. And I cannot ever forget the help of the Hegemony that was involved in the revolution in Zoingo where millions of army men and civilians were killed. Lord Sumguy taught us to be bold and proud on the international scene, in which without his influence our path could have been much worse....
But he is not the only one that I remember, the Watsons of Greal, they were the first to invite Zoingo out of the dark and into the world outside of our borders, as well as support us through all of our strife that took place over the years. And as they passed on from one generation to another, even if I frowned on their policies from time to time, kept on supporting us and prompting Zoingo up further. And then there was James of Cazelia, with his help he showed us that we should not be afraid to use military force if diplomacy takes a wild path out of place. That has saved us from several invasions and attacks that Zoingo truly appreciates.
And I can also thank all of the members of the alliance, as well as across to the other side with LION. In which the war that was fought I felt, even though it was not my administration, was totally unnecessary, and Zoingo might have used its diplomacy (as well as use the fact that Zoingo was on both sides), to prevent such war to escalate to this....the murder of an innocent man that serves as a great blow to all.
Alas, I write this on my deathbed, my condition grows worse by the day, and all the bad news keeps coming to my side as my wife and children look over me. I entrust Mr. Dalons to deliver this to the council to express my feelings on the matter, but let me say that this is not the end of everything....
True, all of the Hegemony has suffered losses, but in these times, it is the people that rise from the ashes that make the most achievements. And the ones that pass that achievement on are even greater than the last. I have no doubt in my mind that the shining light that the Hegemony stands for is not lost. The wind has been blowing harder over the fire....but it still burns strong, and those who continue to keep it safe for generations to come are truly greater than the ones who started the flame.
The new Hegemon as allot to tend to, as well as all of the world leaders that come to the meeting today. But take it from a former world leader, the people who step up will save this alliance from further catastrophe.
Best Regards to All,
Roland J. Massaquine
-------------------------------------------
"I received a message a few minutes ago, Roland has just died.... I felt that now would be the best time to give you that....." Martin explained.
Watson looked up, surprised by what Martin had just said. "Roland J. Massaquine is...dead?"
"I......I...am afraid so....." Martin looked down, he couldn't help but shead a tear. "The doctors....they said......he suffered from a condition that was too late to heal....that is why he resigned...not because his term expired."
Martin paused and continued.
".......The war would have become more catastrophic.....if it leaked out of the crown that the prime minister was in poor condition and there was no one to take his immediate place.....we could have instantly become a liablity and asset for either side. Something that we did not want to happen.....that Roland did not want to happen....he tried to end the LION/Hegemonic war....but his heath prevented any of his policy from taking place......including policy that might have held influence in stopping Faxinavia from starting the war.
"So The Commonwealth kept quiet....and felt a huge moral blow as our allies engaged while we just sat there.....waiting to see what the next death toll was from the press. Using this distraction.........the government used that oppertunity to stake a election that would not have occured for a year, in which I won."
"As diplomacy finally started to settle in......Roland was deeply troubled.....he felt that many lives were lost if we hadn't spoke up and had both LION and the Hegemony solve matters diplomaticly. After Lord Sumguy's assasination....he grew worse....feeling that the war was his fault, that his health prevented him from stopping anything, including assasination of his friend.......he lost the will to live."
Martin finished, then added.
"Now may I be excused for a moment?" he addressed the members of the room....and went outside to be alone for a while.
(ooc: LION was planning to go ahead and have a war which I thought was a utter joke a few months back, Fax asked if anyone opposed, and I didn't say a word.)

"We have lost a lot of important men in these last few months, are we still at war with any of these threats?"
