Consular Legate Augustus Scipio had been appointed by his Duke to open diplomatic negotiations with The Serene Republic of Heirosoloa. He had taken a ship to Heirosoloa and then coach to where he would hopefully met the Heirosoloa representatives.

There were many similarities between the nations in Government style and economics yet as the similarites were great, so were the differences, the differences were in the style of the military. Heirosloa had specialised in creating a Navy, while Rechburg had built a strong but professional army backed by the Legionaires. So much promise he pondered, but of course there was always the fate of the gates that directed the minds of men, truly only the gods know where the minds of the leaders of the republic of Heirosoloa go.

The journey was quite brief and eventually the Heirosola outriders that had escorted him since the border informed him they were within sight of their destination.

Emperor Deoraz II had sent his best diplomat, Keiv, to form an alliance with the nearby nation. The Rimmed Mountains came down into The Nerkan Forests, which was so dominated by Nerka, it was named after it. Kiev was on his way, and only the ticking sands of time could determine the end.

OOC: Revise your post a bit, Heirosoloa is no where near you, so you cannot logistically get there with troops unless you have a diplomatic tie, which you are establishing. Heirosoloa can't come down into your territory, though. (Read the striking distances at the first post of the OOC thread)

They rode to the steps of the great palace. Two rangers escorted him into the throne room and then bowed at the kings feet. The king stood. "Welcome."

"Yes Baron Serdia?"
"We have reports that say a Chernoblyark diplomat is meeting with the king of Nerka."
"Ahh a chance to kill two birds with one arrow. Do you know what I mean Baron?"
"Yes sire, a Wraith will be dispatched immediantly."

The Wraith Union was contacted and sent their best man to infiltrate the castle and kill the Nerkan king. The Wraith moved through the kingdom unnoticed and arrived at the castle. Where he silently moved to where the king and the diplomat were meeting.

The Watchguard Tower
Osman Pasha stared out the window of his great fortification, concerned as he looked over the golden fields of his homeland. His small country was beset on all sides from possible enemies. Now the only thing to do was either fight or die-but on whose side? Osman sighed as he went down the list. Heirosoloa and Rechburg were sensible choices; both nations had valuable natural resources, most importantly stone, and were in strong defensive positions. The small warrior-tribe of Celtia would certainly be considered as well; the fighters of the forest were renowned for their battle prowess.

Osman was less sure of the Dread Kingdom. Mortongoth was larger, richer, and most importantly made use of assassins almost as effectively as the Ravean Authority killer rings. The Authority spies had extensive knowledge of Mortongoth's movements, and everything pointed to an impending invasion, but nothing could be certain. As for Chernoblyark, Nerka, and Speik, all be valuable allies, but he doubted he could sway them without either a load of cash or a clever killing.

Yawning, he began composing a trio of letters; one was send with a rider to the forests that housed the Realm of Celtica, the other two to the frozen tundra home to Rechburg and Heirosoloa.

Illistious Lords,
This is a tumultuous time in our world; great nations are set against each other, ready to blow like leaves in a hurricane. In this sort of oncoming war, powers must unite to stay strong. Those who lay idle and alone will be destroyed, annihilated past the point of recognition. This threat is what must drive us to array under a single banner, not as allies, but as brothers. Ravea is willing to offer arms, men, gold, and trade if yours will offer the same.

When the wind comes, a tree must have stong roots to survive the storm. If you accept, please send a hasty reply. I fear we have not the time to tarry.

~Osman Pasha

The rider pulled up his exhausted horse, the sweat and heavy breathing of rider and horse all too evident of the hard riding.
As he dismounted he showed his Ducal pass to the Guards and demanded that he had urgent despatches for their ruler.
One of the Guards disappeared into the fortress, only to return almost immediately
"Follow me please"

The disshevelled rider flung his dusty red robe over his shoulder, under the cloak was the uniform of a Ducal Tribune, a personal representative of the Duke of Rechburg.
He was admitted into the rooms where Osman Pasha stood, the Tribune gave a salute, a clenched fist over his heart.

"Sire I have urgent despatches from my Duke"
He stepped forward to hand the diplomatic message.

"My dear Osman Pasha.
I have read your wise words of wisdom in regard to the dangerous world we live in. In this matter I am of a like mind to yourself, we must unite against the common foes and the enemies of peace and stability.
I have instructed Consul Ney to lead an army to assist you in the defence of your realm, the four Legions will have left bt the time my Tribune arrives. I have sent these troops, fully in the knowledge that we do not have as of yet an alliance agreement; however I have assumed a demonstration of our commitment to a common bond between our nations will not go unoticed by your enemies.
The details of an alliance can be negotiated with my Tribune, who is fully aware of my wishes and desires. Once Consul Ney arrives he will remain as the commander of my forces and as my ambassador to you."

IC: The Wraith peered approached the king in his sleep. He had snuck into the castle through a small hole in the wall that was a drainage system that led him to the lavatories. He snuck through the hallways killing any guards he found. He planted evidence of the diplomat committing the murders. After killing the guards outside the kings room he approached the king's bedside and watched the man sleep. The Wraith unsheathed his dagger and plunged it into the king's chest. After planting evidence the diplomat had commited the murder he slipped away into the night.

[OOC; Sorry for being inactive, I'll jump right in. Rechburg, I'll let it slide that you controlled Heirosoloans to escort yourself. Are you currently at my castle seeking an alliance? I can't tell.]

Lord Tumble Sohkai slowly crossed the great walls of the capital city of Snowport. Unlike Tideport, the other large naval city in Heirosoloa, Snowport was built to withstand a siege, with large walls and a citadel for centuries of rulers to hide behind. As of right now, Sohkai paced across a small section of the wall, a rolled up map clenched in his left hand. He knew that Heirosoloa had to expand it's control or eventually be made irrelevant. But the true question was whether to do so by military force, trade, or by political power.
The soft snow eventually got to Tumble and forced him to abandon the wall for his warmer quarters. He crossed the courtyard quickly and entered the quiet citadel as silently as possible. Attempting to not draw attention to himself he slipped up the stairs and into his lavish room, sighing with relief for not being attacked by the anxious nobles.

The Dread Army commander a Wraith (Wraith Union members have no names) heard the incoming arrows and yelled for the troops to cover themselves. The archers grabed their bows and fired back providing cover for the Wraith as he climbed the building and appraoched the marksmen from behind.

Consular Legate Augustus Scipio saw Snowport for the first time, it was like the weather, a cold foreboding fortress, just the mere sight of it made him shiver.
They they shared a common climate however for some reason Heirosoloa seemed much colder than his own Duchy.
Eventually he arrived at the tall strong looking gates, a guard approached and Legate Scipio handed the guard a diplomatic scroll.

"I have come to talk with your Lord, regarding trade and alliance issues".

Since the ascension of Ilfir Erenthi to the throne, he had felt nothing but pride, for his High Lord, for his nation, for his army, for his people... "Qyner!" The troops began marching out of the gate, and eventually the small heavy cavalry detachment followed suite, cheered on by the fortress-town militia, and Markyren quickly ran downstairs to his horse, ready to follow his army to their further exploration of the former Ragnosian lands.

"These men will be either your guards. However, should we believe you to be an assassin we will take no chances. You will be locked up and held for ransom. Although we truly don't need the money." The Captain smiled. [b]"It's just past the city, into the citadel walls and across the courtyard. Enjoy your stay." The captain flashed the Consular an even wider grin.
