Annual rallies at Canterbury, all nations invited.

The Great Empire Of Sovereign Britain wishes to welcome all nations to it's annual rallies at Canterbury. We'd like to use this opportunity to promote values of peace, and prosperity throughout the world, and perhaps make a few friends on the way. All nations are invited to participate in their own show of strength, be it military or cultural. It's the perfect opportunity to boast morale, and flex your arms a bit.

However, constraints are tight - we only have an extended weekend for the rally, starting on Friday 3rd October, to commentate Lord Edward Hutchinson's birthday. A feast will be held that night for all the leaders in Canterbury Cathedral, allowing for discussions and enlightenment.

We're pleased to be part of this world, and together we will provide a stronger, purer world for our children to live in.

News coverage starts on Thursday at half seven GMT on the Royal British Broadcasting Company, with in depth analysis of the countries talents, and exclusive interviews.

We hereby invite you to this invite, and wish you peace and glory.

OOC: The thread above is actually the correct one, however posted as the wrong nation. (I have two accounts, and glitched as I logged off as Nostramo, logged back in as SB, yes I did check, and got this...weird)

We're currently using our allied nation, Nostramo Prime in order to provide you with an effective method of broadcasting, while we finish repairing ours. Apologies for any confusion caused.

OOC: You seem like an intelligent new RPer, and we've been having a run of the...er...other type lately, so I'd gladly get into this. Plus, it allows me another oppurtunity to use my cool lettrehead.

OOC: I think our nations will get along very well due to our English backgrounds.

From: Anthony Thornton, Baronet, Foreign Minister of Her Majesty's Government, Queendom of Anglia (OOC: Please refer to my nation as Anglia, NOT Queen Charlette VI)
To: Whomever it may concern

It has come to our attention that a fellow nation descended from the fine stock of Englishmen has revealed itself on the international stage. We have been well pleased with this development and have decided that we will take part in the upcoming festivities in Canterbury by sending not only myself as a representative of Her Majesty's Government but also the Queen of our beloved nation, Charlette, along with the newly crowned King Consort, Gerald of Lamoni, because Her Majesty has expressed a desire for travel and we have seen it fit to give her, our dread sovereign lady, this liberty which we take for granted. We shall come upon the appointed time to Canterbury, Fortune willing, and hopefully we shall all have an excellent time. We wish your nation prosperity and peace.

Signed,
Anthony Thornton, Bt.

We gladly await your arrivals, however we will need figures of who is attending, and what ministers and other figures of government are - in order to set up accommodation, and to provide your nations with the best stay possible.

OOC: Yeah, I'm a Londoner.

OOC: Ah, a peace-promoting event. An excess of war is, as they say, 'a one way ticket to hell', so yes, I would be pleased to participate.

IC: The Holy Empire of Anemos Major, recognising the importance of peace as well as war, would be pleased to join the Canterbury Rallies, and will send a delegation of various sorts.

We wish you sucess in spreading this message of peace.
Lord Myrdestis Fyrdelfine, Lord of Human Affairs (Civil Rights).

If the world is to survive, peace is the only way to achieve true purity. I hope this event will show that nations can survive on peace, not war and result in a perfect Empire. I will be most pleased to meet all of you, and discuss concerns and issues, on a better society.

- Lord Edward Hutchinson

Apologies for the delays in news coverage, broadcasting was put on hold due to bad weather.

Six different nations are attending, with dignitaries from all, who will be watching the events from the main stand at the top of Royal Hill. Below them, on Canterbury field, the opening ceremony is occurring. Sovereign Britain opens with a glorious display of discipline, with a marching order and display of musical talent from the Lord's Orchestra, playing the famous 45th Overture.

After a marching parade and a flash of colours, Lord Hutchinson addresses the crowd.

'Ladies, Gentlemen and dignitaries. Recently it's been a difficult time for us all, with wars, famine, poverty disease and financial crisis. Humanity cannot fight each other, and hope to survive in the long term. As human history shows, we are not capable of surviving alone. I hope that this event can help build relations with the nations attending, and I'd like to wish you all a great weekend, and now on to the proceedings!'

In turn; the six nations then showed a display of their nations talents.

OOC: This is basically your nation doing whatever they want, as a celebration - the normal Olympic opening ceremony. Bear in mind this is a peaceful event, so keep it...clean. A speech from your leader would be good as well.

Nathaniel Klein, President of the Republic of Parilisa, walked over to the podium and adjusted the microphone to his height. He had been informed by the Parliament of Parilisa to keep his speech from being as anti-monarchist as he usually was; he was more than aware of the royal presences at the rally.

“If you had asked me four years ago what I thought I would be doing now my answer would certainly not include a wonderful rally such as the one provided here today by the nation of Sovereign Britain. Four years ago I was what used to be referred to in Parilisa as a peasant; I was the lowest of the low, the living embodiment of all that fascist Parilisa despised. My nation used to be ruled by a hereditary fascist dictatorship, one that sought to root out all heresy, impurity and liberty and absolutely and irreversibly annihilate it. My sister was born with a physical disability and she was killed by the so called “Government”. I published pamphlets condemning the rule of our most unjust king and was sent to a concentration camp where I was forced to do hard labour. But we changed all that. We overthrew the King, we freed Parilisa and founded the Republic.” He paused and looked around, hoping he had not offended anybody.

“People have often asked me if I am anti-monarchist.” He begun again. “What I am is anti-fascist, anti-oppression, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-prejudiced. What I am against is dictatorship, inquisition and the many other evils that plague our world. What am I for? I am for liberalism, freedom, culture, art, an end to unfairness and inequality. What I am for is this. This rally is what I support; the peaceful and fraternal exchange of art and culture in a pacifist environment. I am for now!” A round of applause was taken up by some of his supporters, which he silenced with a smile and a modest wave of his hand.

“And so, people of Sovereign Britain, The Kiravian Empire, Anglia, Anemos Major, Imperial Isa, Parilisa and the world, it is my honour to present to you the somewhat controversial new play-Liberty!”

As if from nowhere appeared a group of actors and actresses which few people had noticed before. With an enthusiastic flourish they began to enact the play, which told of the Parilisan struggle for freedom. It concentrated mainly on freedom of speech and thought; this was thought to be relevant at the rally which was focussed on culture. There were no words in the play, the actors used actions and the beautiful wordless singing of their voices to weave the tale. In theory, this was meant to allow the viewer the independence to interpret the art as they thought, making the entire experience more enjoyable, liberating and personal. At the end the lead actor presented Lord Hutchinson with a bouquet of flowers to mark his birthday. Then the actor asked for a minutes silence to be held in honour of the Republic’s beloved founder who had died on this day; Nicholas Faust.
