A day ago, Oslea had bought land full of gold and gold temples for the measly price of $100 USD. The Government immediately saw an opportunity for a quick buck and snapped up the island. After all, $100 was pocket change. Literally.

Taking control of the island from the savages and 'extracting' (Read: Stealing) the gold was a harder task, and probably one that would cost more than $100 USDs, or roughly 52 Oslean Coams. The Joint Chiefs of Staff decided that the best course of action was to secure a landing zone within a good flat plot of land that was easily defendable, and assign a Rapid Construction team to quickly set a base up while a detachment of soldiers protected them.

The top brass quickly diverted a Wasp-class amphibious assault carrier to set sail towards the temporarily-named Savage Island, and to anchor itself about 25 miles out from the coast. A team of scientists was authorized to tag along, to examine the behavior of the Savages with the safety of traveling with Oslean troops. One of them decided to keep track of a journal, chronicling all the events that the scientists and troops will experience.

Day 1

Today, the Navy decided to just scout the island out and find any suitable landing zones for our choppers. While sailing the Captain of the OSS Lady Justice had ordered a few Quonset huts and various other base construction materials to be stored within the small amphibious assault carrier, ready to be helicoptered in when the troops set an LZ up.

I was tagging along one of the scout helicopters, which was accompanied by two other helicopters and a single AH-1 attack chopper.

It was noon, and the sun shone brightly and its rays showered the deck with much-welcomed light after the rough storms a few nights ago. The helicopters were being prepared for takeoff, and the tremendous wind that the helicopters made flew into my face as I tried to climb inside.

The other people in there were the two pilots, the door gunners, and my colleague Sarah Thompson who was going to be filming the island.

"Alright, this is your captain speaking, Air Lady Justice will take off shortly. Fasten your seatbelts, and if we get shot down, well, good luck out there." the pilot joked, as light laughs emerged from behind him.

The helicopter slowly took off, and we began flying towards the island.

It was a small island, and perfect for farming. But, still, it was Forensathan property now, so naturally they would send people to explore it before any attempts at settling or exploiting were made. And, also unfortunately, it was a mixed bag of people sent.

The first crew was a measely four people, sent ahead of the primary exploration group in order to assess proper landing sites and possible places for establishing an early community. The group itself was made up of Kelsia Targrin, scientist and representative of the House of Cats; Genlock Meng, security and representative of the House of Dragons; Farellia Ventis, professional explorer and representative of the House of Serpents; and Carlgriv of the House of Sheep, who was an expert in farming techniques.

Unfortunately for the group, there were three problems. Carlgriv had been sent to this island because he was from the nudist portion of his family. Kelsia and Farellia also had not been able to pry away from each other's lips for anything other than eating and sleeping. The two Houses were amused to learn of the union and took no steps to stop it. The third problem was that Carlgriv had also turned out to be a bit of a pervert and had repeatedly had issues with pain, since Farellia was also trained in the assassination techniques of the House of Serpents.

"Well, we're here," Genlock said.

"This looks like a nice island for a nudist colony," Carlgriv said.

"Only if you want to explain to your House why it is your genitals are being mailed to them in tiny pieces," Farellia said, her hand gripping his neck in a threatening way. "And don't try to threaten me with your nobility. Your House has already given me permission to do anything short of boil you alive and turn your disgusting body into a soup for the local wildlife."

"Well, shall we explore the jungle?" Kelsia asked.

The Journal of Dr. Hayes, continued

We flew across the short stretch of water before the pilots, and I, had spotted the shores of the island. It was a beautiful relatively small jungle island, with dense jungle occupying most of the land. Small ravines broke the jungle occasionally, as did the fields of grass here and there.

"Look!" Sarah said, pointing at something out the window.

We saw a small village of huts, and we were able to see tribespeople minding their daily business. We flew past the village to a large grassy pasture, with some tribesmen hunting boars on it.

At this moment I realized the helicopter was flying low, so low that I could hear the shouts of tribesmen, presumably warriors, calling their brethren to battle.

Clink! An arrow had glanced off the window of the helicopter. I was right; they were warriors. Then again, it should be expected as we were told the island was inhabited with savages.

"Heh heh, welcome to the 21st century!" The door gunner shouted as he winded up the barrels of his minigun.

The gunner let off a short burst of fire from his minigun. Lead peppered the ground and tore numerous holes in a couple of savages, as the others ran off into the jungle, scared.

"Command, we've found an LZ!" The pilot reported.

At that moment we were told that we were to return to the Lady Justice, along with the rest of the helicopters so we could ferry troops to the newfound Landing Zone.

After an hour of exploration, they decided upon the beach they first arrived at as the best place to set up a camp. After some discussion, it was decided (much to the disappointment of the men) that Kelsia and Farellia would set up their tent just outside of earshot. And they tested it, repeatedly, just to make sure.

The next day saw Carlgriv and Genlock fully awake and willing to explore more. Kelsia and Farellia had already started before them, quickly scouting out the local forests and deciding what would need to be cleared and what could be preserved. They planned to have Carlgriv go over their recommendations, but they both already felt it would be perfect.

One thing that Farellia had noted was the presense of wild boar on the island, through their tracks in the mud. In particular, they were excited about this, since it meant boar would be eaten that night. This, of course, meant a hunt to be started...
