A Visit to Aresium (Closed; ATTN Kirav)

It is inevitable that the visit of a foreign diplomat or leader would cause a great commotion within the ranks of the government of any nation and, therefore, the planned visit of a Kiravian diplomat or leader to Aresium caused a great commotion within the Republic's government with everyone hastily going over reports and picking out their best attire for the meeting at hand. Philomena Kosseri decided that she would leave representation of Aresium to Levana Osseri who was wearing a simple business style suit for the occassion with a skirt that covered only some of the legs which some people would have demanded to be covered up completely but puritanical fashion was never really popular in Aresium save for the ranks of a few people. Levana Osseri had already tooken the liberty of arriving at the airport where the Kiravian representative would arrive about five or so minutes before the foreign plane was expected to arrive. She was with some elite security guards who were heavily armed and very stoic. Philomena had trusted Levana with the reputation of her nation and Levana, knowing this, was conditioning herself to make her nation and leader very proud. She, like many, believed in the concept of national pride and pride in one's own abilities to make things right and correct. The capital city of Aresium, Laches, was filled to the brim with people from all walks of life to teenagers with MP3 players headbanging as they walked to elderly people discussing the merits of the good old days when their values were more prevalent among the populace. Levana stood stoically with her guards while she waited for the Kiravian representative to make his or her appearance.

OOC: I took the liberty of starting this thread for us, Kirav.

Thor Kárimac, or Diplomat-Major Kárimac, as he was called while on duty, arrived safely in Aresium.

It was a most interesting mission: To visit a nation founded on the ideals of Plato. One tended to get the interesting assignents if one happened to be hanging around the Foriegn Affairs Building at midnight.

Kárimec got off of the small chartered jet, thanking the weary-eyed crew who had seen the plane through at least twelve stops so far, to get to this relatively remote country.

Briefcase in hand, he made his way to where the Aresian welcome party was waiting.

"Greetings," he said, "Nice legs!"

Just joking.

"Greetings," he said, "It is an honour to visit your great Republic. To whom do I owe the pleasure?"

Levana smiled. "It is a pleasure to meet the representative of the Kiravian Empire at last. I trust that your flight was sufficiently pleasurable? My name is Levana Osseri and I am the Councilwoman for Foreign Affairs. This title refers to my membership on the legislative body known as the Council of Twelve but let us not get bogged down in debate about political organization. Please, follow me to the limosuine waiting for our presence."

The limosuine looked like any limosuine you'd see taking diplomats to the required destination and it was furnished like any such limosuine would be. Once the two esteemed people were inside, the chauffer began to drive from the airport onto the somewhat crowded streets that led into the massive metropolis that was Laches. It looked like any other capital city with all the government buildings and massive cultural and religious centers. There were all sorts of people walking on the streets and some cars and pedestrians gave the limosuine the right of way when they noticed the official government insignia upon it. Everyone respected the government. The penalties for treason were well known by all and put many in their place. As the limosuine sped off to where Levana Osseri worked, that is, the Foreign Affairs complex, Levana examined her counterpart in a professional manner and not one of desire since, after all, she wasn't inclined to men like that. "...Mr. Karimac, please tell me more about Kirav and what it is like. We may disagree on political beliefs but we always want to learn more about the world."

"It was indeed, Madam."

He followed the Aresian dutifully.

"Well, the homeland of the Empire is an island continent in the region of Nova. Our people speak a large family of languages called Coscivian, and most of us are members of the Cosciv race, who look much like myself. We have colonies throughout the world that are home to most of the population, and have a cultural inclination towards intellectuality."

"....The pursuit of knowledge can be arduous in the long run but all of it is worthwhile as we have seen in the centuries with the rise of technological advances and so forth. The Aresian Republic is pretty much homogeneous with us light skinned Aresians obviously in the majority of things. I must say I would be interested in visiting Kirav sometime in the near future. I must say that we'll be at my complex in a while. This limosuine isn't really super fast. However, we can easily lay out the basics of our proposals if you wish before we get there."

"Certianly," replied Kárimec, "It would be an honour upon our people to have you visit Kirav in the future. But that is for another time. What does your government want to acheive in this meeting?"

"....Our government desires to achieve, in the meeting, the creation of a friendship with the Kiravian Empire and the creation of trade."

"As are we. Tell me, what are the major components of the Aresian economy? Any goods or services that we might be interested in?"

The limosuine had reached the complex by the time that the Kiravian had asked his question. The complex was a massive and imposing building built in neoclassical architecture that definately looked that it was of major significance in the political scene of the Republic. Levana walked inside with the Kiravian ambassador to see that it looked even more magnificent on the inside with grand mosaics upon the walls including those of the philosophers who contributed to the politics of the land, famous folk heroes, and one of what looked like Ares, the Greek God of War, holding the flag of the Republic along with a grand sword. There was also another mosaic of what looked like a woman in ancient clothing holding a sword as well. It could have been suggesting that women should contribute to the defense of the nation in some manner or that it was about a famous folk heroine. It didn't matter at the moment. Levana led her guest through the crowds of people and past the mosaics and the banners that hanged all over the place until they finally got to her office which was spacious and filled with all sorts of trinkets including a certificiate of appreciation from a lesbian group in Aresium. Levana wondered if he knew that she was lesbian. She didn't care, though. As long as he didn't get homophobic around her, she was comfortable with him. They took their seats and Levana began the meeting with a smile and a brief little explanation of how she felt the office would be a good setting for the meeting at hand. "....I must say that we should begin with the prospect of an embassy exchange. Should it fit the wishes of Kirav, you would be able to become Kirav's Ambassador to Aresium with an already built embassy complex at your immediate disposal. I can even take you to it should you desire. It's in the newly built embassy district of Laches. We want to let the world be open to us even if we disagree with them."

It wasn't known to the Kiravian ambassador, possibly, that the Republic of Aresium was a place in which the lynching of convicted criminals was not only legal but encouraged by police and government officers who would have no problems opening the doors of prisons for citizens to take their pick of who they wanted to unleash their fury upon. It was a place in which criminals were tortured without relent and in which the police had the full authority to unleash brutality upon certain people. It was a place in which the people publically supported such measures in the name of the common good they believed they were defending with such measures. Levana didn't concern herself much with the minds of the people save for when they were discussing her publically known lesbianism. It was people like Philomena and Adra who dealt with the minds of the masses and knew how to control and manipulate them at will.

"....Concerning trade, we may discuss the basics of it but I would not mind if you consulted our Councilman for Economic Affairs for further and in depth discussion in the matter of trade. I am mostly in tune to diplomatic matters myself but he is more in tune with those of wealth and the generation of it. Your nation may discuss military matters with Adra Zaril, the Councilwoman for Defense Affairs. She is probably interested in developing our nation's soldiers and what not into better fighters ready to fight and, if need be, die for our beloved Republic. I am, indeed, proud of our nation but I am not xenophobic. If I was, I won't be in this post and I wouldn't be talking to you."

Levana laughed for a brief moment before continuing to speak. "....You must nto hesitate to ask me a question if it comes into your mind. I think that we can sign a treaty or what not if you are ready to do so and if you wish to do so."

"I would be most honoured, Madam, to take that position, should Sèr Redwōd, our foriegn secriatist, see fit to appoint me, which would be likely, seeing as I am already more experienced with Aresium than any KE citizen. Also, I must thank your government for your hospitality in granting us an Embassy. We, too are prepared to give you an embassy space in our capital city, Kartika. The building in mind is on Commonwealth Lane, intended as an embassy for a member of the now-defunct Kiravian Commonwealth. It is larger and better-furnished than the other embassies in the city."

"And I am, of course, willing to speak to them upon any matter which shall mutually serve us. I, too, am not xenophobic, yet proud of the Empire that I serve."

Levana laughed for a brief moment before continuing to speak. "....You must nto hesitate to ask me a question if it comes into your mind. I think that we can sign a treaty or what not if you are ready to do so and if you wish to do so."

You are more than welcome to visit Aresium if you are not appointed to be the Kiravian ambassador to the Republic. "....I'll put her down with your surname due to the upcoming marriage which, I hope, shall be strong and prosperous for many years. As for Aresium's goals concerning foreign policy, we simply desire to make friends and to let the world know that we are a neutral and friendly nation. We strive to make peace not war, that is, unless we absolutely need to do so. We don't think that we should get involved in foreign conflicts as well. The current government mostly takes its views from the previous one. Our current leader was, indeed, the daughter of our previous leader and she was appointed, by him, to be his successor after he died."

Levana smiled. ".....Any more questions? Any questions relating to something specific within foreign policy?"
