Dawn of the Great War

It was early in 2010 that the war began. And it began as thus, for in Japan a Stoklomolvi diplomat was negotiating over the borders to Korea. Much talk was aroused, but nothing was gained. In a sudden fit of anger, a Japanese man shot the diplomat as he left the building, angering the Stoklomolvi government and giving them a shaky casus belli to invade. With that, over seven million fighting men from the Imperial Guard boarded their transports in Manchuria, and prepared for battle.

As a precaution, cruise missiles were fired in waves of thousands, and radar scanned the Sea of Stoklomolvi (previously the Sea of Japan) for any hostile ships. Detecting none, the cruise missiles proceeded, and soon the 14th Battle Fleet, consisting of an Ulyanovsk supercarrier, three Kirov battlecruisers, and around fifteen Neustrashimy frigates, exited Vladistov to secure the sea. Afterwards, the seven million Imperial Guardsmen boarded their transports and travelled across the sea, preparing to land in western Japan.

Afterwards, the seven million Imperial Guardsmen boarded their transports and travelled across the sea, preparing to land in western Japan.

The Nerkan Japanese Colony was shocked by the outrageous attacks. Wave after wave of Land-to-Sea missiles were prepared, and thousands of Armen soldiers armed. After the city of Kaleisdash was attacked, the capital in Vera called up Chernobl and asked for help. This looked like a regular squabble between two countries, but it would turn out to be much, much bigger.

Sea of Stoklomolvi

The first wave, consisting of some 2,000 cruise missiles, suffered the most of the anti-missile barrages. Almost 1,500 of them were destroyed, with the remainder largely thrown off course to hit random locations in Japan. The second wave, consisting of some 1,800 missiles, suffered less, but was still reduced to only 400 missiles. The third wave was less affected, with 900 out of 1,300 missiles surviving. The fourth and final wave, consisting of 1,900 missiles, had 1,100 missiles surviving by the end.

The infantry began to assault beaches and looked to scale cliffs in western Japan, while the armour waited in Manchuria to reinforce the assault later on.

Western Japanese Coast

At the cliffs where Armen soldiers were firing at random into a sea of people, the entire coast was literally cluttered with thousands of landing boats. Soldiers were jumping from one to another, and the cliff was getting blown with cruise missiles and mortars. The soldiers below just waited, shooting at the occasional moving object at the top of the cliff. Several hundred were killed from the initial assault, with a few thousand more wounded or killed by the Armen defensive position. Still, some two million soldiers remained at the cliff, with the rest attacking beaches nearby.

The massive mountain was quickly shook by a few artillery blasts. Apparently, the Armen had been able to gather around fifty from the capital right before the attack. The Cruise Missiles landed breathtakingly, killing almost a quarter of the Armen troops prepared. However, using the Medusa formation, each soldier further spread out.

Meanwhile, soldiers continued to pour out from the neighboring cities to protect the beaches, and civilians prepared their towns for siege.

[OOC: The beach. Harumph.]

The soldiers on the beach, who were slowly making progress, were vaporised by the sudden explosions that engulfed almost everything. The entire beach was gone, and almost two hundred thousand men were killed in the blast. Still, the million men remaining pushed on, shooting and bombarding any Armen troops left.

At the cliff, [somewhere near Honjo], the Stoklomolvi men attempted to climb up the cliffs using ropes, and the armour reinforcement left the mainland. Three Tupolev Tu-160 supersonic bombers soared from the airbase near Vladistov, and prepared to drop their payloads of cruise missiles onto Tokyo. Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft also took off from Vladistov, and the naval group in the area moved in between Japan and Korea. Naval groups from the south moved in to block off Korea completely, and some 2 million conscripts and armour burst over the Yalu River and charged south.

IC: At the cliff, the artillery continued it's massive barrage. A small Aeriei moved to meet the three bombers, preparing to gun them down, then blast the wreck with missiles. With the first portion of the Ivan plan in motion, 16 million men [16 + 2 + 7 = 25 million men, with 30 million left] mobilised alongside the border into Chernobl. Four million infantry mobilised alongside the border Kazaki, with four more million mobilised alongside the border into the UAC. The remainder stayed in Siberia and in China, where they would be mobilised in a moment's notice. Type 5 and Type 99 tanks alike were stationed along any reasonable paths of approach, and cruise missile silos were readied in Siberia.

The boats from the Marshall Islands were detected and met with barrages of AShM from the Kirov battlecruisers and Neustrahimy frigates. Nuclear shore artillery were readied along the coasts, not firing but on standby. In Japan, the Stoklomolvi soldiers were making slight progress, but in Korea the soldiers were advancing steadily, almost like a communist curtain.

Mt. Idian troops began to mobilize. They may be a small military, but they were highly trained in the art of war. The FRRDF under General Blake left the British Isles escorted by the RRF and began motoring towards a Chernobl port in the sea between Sweden (not sure what else to call it) and the rest of Chernobl. Once they were a few knots away they began radioing ahead to request permission to land.

Soon, the FAA lead by General Forue escorted by the FAF began their travel to the Mediterranean Sea where they would launch a counter attack into Stoklomolvi.

Micheal Traton, the president of Mt. Id, was pouring over reports coming in from all over about Stoklomolvi and the attacks. He was troubled. He called up his military statistics on his computer and looked over them. "Damn..." He mumbled. The British Isles were heavily outmatched in military size. Then he thought of their African colonies. He pulled them up and began to feel slightly better. Most of the people there had been waging civil wars against each other for generations. They knew how to fight. And now that Mt. Id controlled them, the people there were happier than ever. Democratic rule seemed to fit them well and they were prospering. He called the aide that kept an eye on the colonies and had him come into his office. Once the aide arrived, Traton began.

"We're in deep shit. Or if we're not now we will be soon. Our military is top notch, but the fact is that we don't have enough people. At least not here. Down in Africa, our new friends seem to be bred to fight. What do you think it would take to get them fighting for us?"

The aide sat down and pondered the question. "Well Mr. President, you're right about them being bred to fight. Or at least many of them. They were born fighting and many of them expected to die fighting. Of course, their main weapons weren't high quality and they aren't use to operating in large groups, but that could be taught to them. However, they are extremely good at doing small group raids. They've been doing them for years. They know how to get in undetected and get out the same. And ever since we showed up on their scene, they've been growing economically and are better off than they were just a few years ago. For that, I believe they'd be willing to fight for us like any soldier. They wouldn't be the best troops, but I bet we could get quite a few to willingly be drafted and trained so they can fight with the best of them. They already know the basics anyways."

Traton leaned back in his chair. "Good. Get on it. See how many recruits we can get. And make it fast."

The aide saluted and rushed out of the room to carry out the orders.

(About how many do you think I should say got drafted in the first round?)
Chernobl
29-09-2008, 00:34

(only 200 thousand? Well, I guess for the first set. And you're right. These guys will all be experienced fighters so I guess 200k crack battle ready troops is ok)

The aide rushed back into the president's office. "Sir! We've already got positive reports out of Africa already! We have people flooding to the offices to enlist, and most if not all are already battle ready! The only training they need is how to work as a cohesive unit and they've already got the squad size down. If this keeps up, we'll have enough people to fight for years!"

Traton smiled. This was the first good news he'd heard in a while. "Good man. Keep me informed." He said and the aide went back to his office to monitor reports.

Kazaki Border

The four million infantry and armour rumbled over the huge border into Kazaki, claiming that the government was oppressing the Stoklomolvi nationals in the area. Naturally, the few Stoklomolvi nationals there were pleased, but not much could be said for the government of Kazaki. Civilians were not shot at, and in fact many were given free items at town squares that were passed by. In attempts to gain allegiance, the Stoklomolvi military played patriotic songs that had lyrics about friendship between Kazaki and Stoklomolvi, and in addition gave free plots of land for Kazaki citizens in eastern Stoklomolvi.

Stoklo-Chernoblian Border

At the border into Chernobl, the attitude was much darker. Before the attack began, a huge artillery strike by nearly fifty thousand artillery pieces opened up on the Urals and the other side of the Ural mountains. After the barrage began, three hundred cruise missiles were launched, with mainly large globs of what appeared to be moving units targeted as information was given by nearby radar and satellite imaging from the Stoklomolvi border. Afterwards, five Tupolev Tu-160 supersonic bombers charged ahead, throwing cruise missiles left and right, and twenty Sukhoi Su-47 watched the skies for enemy aircraft. On the ground, S1A1 and S1A2 flak tanks scanned the area for any signs of an enemy air attack, while the tank divisions and infantry divisions marched forward.

Japan

The enemy aircraft took down one Tupolev bomber, which attempted to veer itself into Tokyo before exploding in mid-air. The other two successfully bombarded the city of Tokyo with cruise missiles before attempting to return to Manchuria. On the ground, the infantry suffered heavier casualties than before, with enough men down to reduce overall manpower to 5.9 million. However, they continued, and having secured one beach they started fanning out, "liberating" towns and such along the way.

At sea, the Stoklomolvi ships just fired massive waves of AShM, with any empty ships returning back to large ports for reloading. The nuclear artillery opened up fire with tactical nuclear weapons, each explosion not much larger than that of a MOAB. In total, seven shells were fired, with many more on the way.

In Korea, the Stoklomolvi infantry and tanks continued their way south, almost unopposed due to the lack of activity from the enemy. Every civilian to the north was welcomed to join Stoklomolvi as a citizen, while the advance would be scheduled to stop at the border north of Seoul to regroup and then advance once more.

The cruise missles smashed into the small border towns and hamlets tearing the delicate country sides apart. As the Stoklovolvian came over the border they were met by the massive border force as they were pounded by infantry and tanks. If there was one thing Chernoblians could do, it was mountain warfare. The ski troops ambushed convoys and the tanks made epic attacks on Stoklomolvians. The elite Chernoblian snipers did their best to assasinate officers and commanders while sabatoging Stok operations.
As bombers showed on radar the F-22s scrambled to meet them.

The mountain divisions, which were moving around the northern flank of the border, struck hard against the Chernoblians. However, the Chernoblians were equally strong, and the two sides sloshed back and forth in the north. In the centre, the ten million men, excluding logistics, pounded the Chernoblians. Artillery constantly struck the Chernoblian army, and cruise missiles were constantly flying to the Chernoblian advance. Ski infantry were sprayed at by LVHMG posts, and random soldiers fell as the Chernoblian snipers shot at the completely nondescript infantry from the Stoklomolvi military. Every soldier, regardless of rank or specialisation, looked identical.

The F-22 Raptors headed for the Tupolev Tu-160 bombers, but the bombers had already left Chernoblian airspace and were approaching the ground as the aircraft pushed into Stoklomolvi territory. Instantly, a wall of flak and AA missiles split the sky, as the previously dark blue sky turned black and grey and red from missiles and flak exploding in every direction.

Along the southern towns, Nefushaten Guard groups got into the back lines, waiting for the Armen charge to begin. Suddenly, 250,000 First Class Armen and 500,000 Regulars charged forward.

Japan

The soldiers once again regrouped and began raining fire on the soldiers fanning on the beaches. Local towns sent out their assignments of 5,000 Armen to fend off, and a main group of about 500,000 was going around to each sector of the beaches trying to fend of Stok troops. Nefushaten support came in the form of 5,000 Scythe Tanks waiting to be deployed, hidden among the vast caves and forests of Japan.

The Marshall navy had come around Japan, making it's way into the border sea, so far five more carriers had crashed, and two aircraft carriers had fallen. The Korean navy was sent upwards to deal with the wave of transport coming into Japan.

Japan

All across the beaches, soldiers were getting blown apart and being shot to pieces. Hundreds of men fell, but hundreds more still ran. By this time, the main tank divisions, which consisted of S1A1 and S1A2 flak tanks, Type 5 MBTs, T-90s, T-72s, and Type 99 tanks, landed on the beaches. The flak tanks, as they rolled off the transport ships, started firing immediately at enemy infantry and aircraft, spewing flak shells everywhere. The tanks crushed virtually everything in their path; trees, shrubs, and even very small rocks and coconuts were flattened. This being said, they fired upon enemy armour with their main 120mm cannons.

Korea

By the time the Stoklomolvi men had advanced a considerable distance, the Nerkan infantry made a foolish and suicidal charge against the huge block of Imperial Guardsmen. The tanks formed a literal wall, with the shovel attachments flattening the ground in front of them. The main cannons fired, the machine guns ripped through the air, and the infantry marched steadily across the peninsula. KGB infantry from the mainland moved in to serve as garrison forces in the northern half of the peninsula as the Imperial Guard moved south. They suffered nearly two hundred and fifty thousand casualties, however, and also lost nearly two hundred tanks.

Sea of Stoklomolvi

The nuclear shore artillery fired shell after shell into the distance. The Kirov class battlecruisers were on standby, ready to respond to any threat that would harm the homeland or the operations in Japan. The South Pacific Fleet, consisting of some forty Kirov class battlecruisers, ninety Neustrashimy class frigates, and innumerable gunboats and missile boats, stayed around the Stoklomolvi coastline as the nuclear shells exploded in the distance. Radiation from the shells killed many fish. The fish were sad.

Stoklo-Chernoblian Front

The Stoklomolvi in the south made huge pushes against the enemy, firing enough munitions to lop off the whole tops of mountains. In the north, the Imperial Mountain Guard made great jumps, seizing large amounts of territory in comparison to the southern front. In the centre, the conflict was even; the Chernoblians, with their height advantage and slightly superior training, held the line well. However, the Imperial Guard did not stop shooting or advancing. Thermobaric rounds roared in every which direction, and eventually the Stoklomolvi air command authorised the destruction of a small section of mountains using FOABs. Three Tupolev Tu-160 bombers took off and dropped parachuted FOABs onto the mountains before zooming back into Stoklomolvi. In the south, the Imperial Guard were performing poorly, though were still holding the line steady. The Kazaki men started overflowing into Chernoblian held lands, and this influx of manpower held the Imperial Guard for longer than they thought. Still, there was never a period of silence.

In total, half a million men were killed.

Kazaki Border

The Imperial Guardsmen performed brilliantly. They enveloped small sections of infantry and eradicated them, successfully performed ambushes in the terrain they had studied for months, and crushed light opposition. Still, the advance was slow, and there was far more resistance than previously expected. However, they still moved on. Over a hundred thousand fighting men were lost.

03-10-2008, 01:08
On the front the Chernoblians were pounded by bombers. In a small bunker a single squad was held up. They were down to 1 mag each. "Lets vote, who says we surrender?"
Not one man raised his hand. "Well we march to our deaths then." He pulled out a bottle of Vodka and a cig and passed them both around. "Pray." The commander said. The men recited the soldiers prayer.

The soldier stood and faced his God Which must always come to pass...
He hoped his shoes were shining Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and Said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't...
Because those of us who carry guns Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough.
But, I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here...
They never wanted me around Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod...
As the soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now you soldier,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

The men shook hands, fixed bayonets, and ran screaming into the wall of fire, blowing of their mags and fighting with knives. Not one of them walked away.

If you lived through war in Japan, when you came home, you were given cash to pay for one person's college, be it yourself or your kids. This was causing a stir, and people were running for military compounds to enlist. I mean, Japan couldn't be as bad as the posters, could it?

Japan

When the Nefushaten infantry moved across the entire island, the Imperial Guardsmen merely hid in the forests and hills. The beaches grew more barren, though eventually S-400 Triumf missile launchers were unloaded. The stragglers were bombed to pieces by enemy aircraft, though fewer than five hundred casualties were sustained before the heavier AA equipment was unloaded. When the Nefushaten troops reached the northern tip of Japan, a Tupolev based in Sakhalin zoomed over Hokkaido and dropped a FOAB on them, with information from a spy satellite and intelligence from the ships offshore.

The Imperial Guard, tired of facing the Nefushaten troops using conventional warfare, started using mustard gas and chemical shells from artillery, covering the countryside with phosgene and Agent Orange. They donned their gas masks and moved around the affected areas, trying to stay on top of hills as much as possible.

Korea

The Imperial Guardsmen just kept advancing southwards, attempting to envelop the Armen troops and crush them from all sides. At the south, in Cheju, three hundred infantry landed from Shandong. They attempted to quickly occupy the small island.

OOC: technically you are god-modding by controlling the movement of troops.

IC:

The soldiers in Korea were supported by 600,000 troops on each side pushing inwards, attempting to form a cross into the heart of the Stok formation.

[OOC: Technically, I was not controlling your troops; you just stated that they swept through Japan. My men hid. End of story.]

Korea

Cheju was taken with relatively little resistance. The people residing on the island were given a huge television tower. In the mainland, the Stoklomolvi formation curved as the Armen troops pushed at the centre; the more they pushed, the further the outer arms of the formation curved inwards. Soon, almost all of the Armen troops were located within a big circle, which slowly closed in upon the Armen men, making sure that none of them escaped the circle.

Korea

It was perfect. They had been drawn into a circle, supposedly by mistake. But it was not. Almost five hundred Scythe Tanks rolled out of the nearby city. It should be enough to clear the army from Korea and get safely to the sea, where they could go to Japan.

Japan

Obviously the enemies did not know what the Nefushaten were trained for. Taking cover in caves and among hills, most dodged the blasts. A few scythe tanks rolled out of a cave and under cover of the mountain, made their way to a running position. The tanks flung themselves full speed(Almost 46 MPH if you include aerodynamic advances) and charged inwards.

OOC:35mph is slow as crap even for a tank. Abrams has a top speed of like 45 or something.

[OOC: You're changing the statistics of your tank mid-battle. What the hell? Also, why can't you ever just LOOK at the Wiki article for the FOAB at least?]

Korea

In Korea, the encirclement was able to eliminate most of the remaining Armen soldiers, and it was soon detected that a fleet of enemy vehicles was charging for the sea. In retaliation, the shore Kirov battlecruisers and Neustrashimy frigates let out a slew of missiles at the tanks, and blocked any chance of the tanks leaving Korea. The Armen tanks and infantry were stuck at the end of a thin peninsula with no way out. Once the Imperial Guardsmen were freed of their encirclement, they would continue their march.

Japan

The Scythe tanks, which seemed to slowly lumber across the plain, made easy targets for the Type 5 tanks and the anti-tank infantry with RPG-29s. Shells and missiles pierced through the air, aiming at the areas directly between the turrets and the chassis. Infantry armed with LVHMG-2s sat and fired the extremely heavy machine guns at the enemy infantry, and the remainder fired their Type 56 Assault Rifles. The islands would eventually fall, as more and more S1A1 flak tanks were being unloaded, along with S-400 Triumf missile launchers. In addition, plans were being made to drop off building materials for the construction of huge Type 425 Nuclear Shore Artillery along the coasts of Japan once Japan was occupied to form the Pacific Wall.

The Sea of Stoklomolvi
The Mt. Idian troops decided it was time to get into the battle. Over 500 Tomahawk Cruise missiles were launched at Stoklomolvi's ships in the sea of Stoklomolvi. Edit: Remove Many of the missiles were armed with nuclear warheads but dispersed among the multitude so the enemy wouldn't now which was which.

ooc: chernobl, is it okay if I can be the NPC's for France, Swiss, and Spain? Like a weakened EU or something along those lines? Also, would the map change as the war progresses onward? Like if a country was taken over, liberated, joined another, ect.?

Amsterdam

Willem Alexander, the Prince of Orange, had now taken over his mother, Queen Beatrix's, throne of the Benelux. The collapse of economic and governmental unity that was known as the EU was a shock to the people of the now United Benelux Countries. It was a heavy burden, now with war speading like wildfire across the globe. Everyone around the UBC was turing to war to defend against the threat of Stoklomolvi, a power that seemed to not have an end.

Secret Encrypted Message to Chernoble, Mt Id, and Rithian, and allies

Our position is weak, our power is not that to match with yours, and we are faced with the future possibility of our backs being against the wall with guns pointed at our families. We understand the threat of Stoklomolvi, and we would like to help in anyways possible.

Signed,

(Range doesn't mean anything. It just means I can shoot em farther. A nukes a nuke. If it hits its target, it doesn't matter where it came from or how far its traveled. But if you guys want I'll remove it. and just say they have regular warheads)

(Yeah, i kinda figured on that. Well, Chernobl probably won't let me use nukes so i'll just edit that out and you can post accordingly. Seeing as how I haven't seen any missile defense systems on ur ships, most if not all the missiles should go through anyways.)

[OOC: ...Could you please just at least look at even the Wiki page for the Kirov class battlecruiser or the Neustrashimy class frigate? They clearly state Kashtan CIWS as an armament. Not to mention Gatling guns.]
Mt Id
07-10-2008, 03:36
(Uh...CIWS is for missiles at close range only. Granted, it may be able to take down a few, but not nearly enough to make the attack any less devastating. Granted, I did miss it the first time cause it was under some weird letters buried in that block of text whoever made that Wiki did. Still, those are last lines of defense unlike AEGIS which is first line and designed to stop most incoming missiles. CIWS can't deal with over 500 missiles because it can only track one at a time with each gun and each gun isn't even guaranteed a hit. All i'm saying is your system may take out a few, but not enough to matter. I personally believe without a missile defense system like AEGIS, CIWS is nearly pointless. That's just my personal opinion.

And gatling guns are extremely limited in usefulness because you would have to shred the missile with kinetic bullets before it would stop. Good luck with that.)

[OOC: S-400 Triumf missiles, Mt Id. They are mounted along the coast, and have the capability to shoot down ICBMs. They shouldn't have much trouble dealing with your cruise missiles.]

[OOC: You never asked. I'm not going to post a full detail of everything I have on my Pacific coast when I'm still busy with my position paper. I do have the "Pacific Wall," which is basically like the Atlantic Wall of Hitler's time only with nuclear cannons, more bunkers, and advanced AA. Look at China's military; you don't know where they have everything, but they have full well the capability. And come on, do you really think that I would leave a departure zone bare for a counter-attack?]
Mt Id
07-10-2008, 04:37
(Idk. But I personally would prefer being told ahead of time that cruise missiles I fire into a sea can be shot down. And you're quite right. Nobody knows where China or anywhere else has everything, but you proved my point. Everybody at least knows they have them.)
