'...Its now midday and here is the news; Coal production has slumped almost 90% in the wake of almost universal walkout by miners at many of Morrdh's coal mines. The strike has been organized by the Morridane Union of Mineworkers in response to recent government decision to convert some mines over for penal labour and also disputes over wages and a proposal to cut mine safety budget.

The Morridane Coal Board has declined comments, though it is understood that they are looking to reopen the effected mines soon as possible. As a measure local Home Guard militia units have been detailed to guard MCB premises least they become targets if the stirke turns into civil unrest. It is understood that the Ministry of Supply and the Coal Comission are hoping that the dispute can be resolved peacefully, a view thats shared by Prime Minister Edmund Vermillion as he spoke earlier today on the matter.

In other news; In the run up to the annual Summer Faires across Morrdh, many towns and cities have been swamped by the sheer number of people arriving ahead of the week long festivals due to start in the next few days. Home Guard militia squads will be out in force along side City Watches in an effort to deter troublemakers...'
