Im confused how to start a war, i dont really want to, but if i feel it nessesary i want to know how!
Can someone tell me please?
My first rule that should be given out: Don't declare war unless you have a strong IC reason and not an OOC reason. If you wage war with another nation, have your reason, do your research and don't be stupid when it comes to military deployments. I can help you with that if you wish.

Well, if you mention that you found oil, Blackhelm Confederacy will start one for you. :(
If the nation you want to fight with exists (sometimes, people make up a nation that doesn't exist in the game), telegrams to them are a good thing. Planning and setting rules before the conflict starts will help get your RP going smoothly.

Yeah, and generally (unless you have planned to use them) it's a good idea to keep WMD's to a minimum. Nukes generally remove all tactical elements and piss off everyone involved.

could you help me with that please lol
Im not gonna start a war now, or hopefully not, but if i have good reason i wanna no how
First thing you want to do is have a look at their nation's budget and population. With that, you can predict the sizeable force they're going to send. Also know if they are a landlock country or a ocean bordered nation because that can determined the landing sites and how you're going to enter the country. Bit of advice, be wise how much you spread your forces because you can't afford to stretch them too thin or risk being attacked from all sides.

One piece of advice from my side: Make it a point to know who they're allies with. The last thing you want is to attack a nation that can only field an eighth of your military, only to be hit by a combined international force of twenty times your nation's population.
If you plan on becoming a FT nation DO NOT start out with a huge fleet. You will be ripped to shreds unless you have a large population.

That goes for every tech level & nation - don't claim you have a military larger than your total population.
yes and going
I DECALREZ WAR ON J00 my armies are flying across the border to random people is a no no they will ignore. or claim gomdod or do both.

As a good point, read the thread titled "The Compass To International Incidents" at the top of the International Incidents page.

*declares war on and begins bombardment using the Cow Cannon*
In all seriousness? This is probably the advice you want foremost in your mind.

It's a common thing for some new people to do
- ignore the fact that massive armies need transporting, and do not materialise when and where you want them
- Declare War on random people because they are bored - see this thread http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=563572
for an example
- Use broken/text language
basically, dont go decalring war on random people then saying you magically have your armies running across his borders or your troops landing on his beaches. its bad. very bad.
yeah i used to be a total noob at it.
OOC:
Well, don't declare war for no/random reason(s). You can declare war for land, money and women, but not French cheese, if you see what I mean.
And please don't pretend your troops can appear like magic into a country on the different part of the world.

The style of your posts are not like that of other new RPers. They have an air of knowledge about them.
Since this and your terrorist attack thread appear to be your first, I'd like to congratulate you on not going down the road some new nations go down - declaring war and flaming people who try to advise you on what you should do.

OOC: Cheers, mate. This is my first 'Role-playing' chance ever, so it may not be the best.

All of my advice is aimed at being FT:
Don't go FT just because you want to have lasers and such things.
Note that, while my nation is 150 million people strong and I ostensibly own a planet, I only have a total of about 50 warships. Even if you have a massive nation, you can't just appear with 5 bajillion super warships. Start yourself small, with a single fleet, and 'research' new technologies to add every couple days.
Here's another thing: Do not use Star Wars ships as your primary vehicles. While it is fine and all if you do use licensed, well-known ships, please be aware that some more experienced RPers have claimed the design as their own in their Storefronts. Find the most obscure original design (or, better yet, make your own) before claiming, at least for NS RP purposes, that you designed it.
Also, if you REALLY wanna just jump right in without designing/appropriating units, you can visit nation's storefronts. Just search (do not select whole word only) for "Store" in the title of the thread, and you should find some decent sellers. This advice applies for all tech levels.
