The Nomads of the cosmos (FT, Intro, open)

((OOC/Semi-IC: Right, I have never done this shit before, so go easy on me... So, my idea for my empire is an empire of nomads, using their vast vessels (Stalkers, 15km vessels, main weapons is simmlar to ancient drones from SG) to float around... So, starting this off, a Stalker will just exit hyperspace with it's longbow escorts))

((OOC:
History:
500 years ago, the Varnian Empire consisted of several large and small corporations. Each controlled sectors of the Varnian Solar System, and managed to get relativly good along with eachother... However, eventuall, with the discovery of Faster-then-light drives, wars for neightbouring systems started, and the Varnian Solar System was dragged into the fight. After a war that raged for 200 years, with billions killed on all sides, one faction discovered something... An artifact, which held, in their opinion, the secret to destroying the other factions and end the war. The artifact was a device capabale of detonating a sun into a supernova... One by one the solar systems fell, eventually only small fleets remained. An armastice was signed, and the fleets joined forces. 20 years later they found a solar system to settle in, but as there was only one habitable planet, infighting again occured. So it was that the 2nd Corporate Wars began. The Civilization of New Varnia was devestated. None survived the nuclear holocaust that followed. Only a few Stalkers and their escorts remained. This time however, no armastice was declared. The Stalkers fought among them selves, and still do. Now only 5 Stalkers with their escorts remain, housing the population of the entire Varnian Empire...

Biological Description:
The Varnians are a humaniod species, looking almost exactly like humans. One major diffrence however, is the fact that at all times atleast 50% of their brain is active. This gives the Varnians... Abilities... Most can do basic telekinesis, some, espcecially females, are highly powerful, and can manipulate not only the bullets of their projectile handweapons, but also energy blasts, and the minds of others...))

The Stalker Class Vessel dropped out of hyperspace in deep space. Not far behind was 15 Longbow Class Destroyers... On the bridge of the Revenge (the Stalker) Captain Max Riley (OOC: No, not very original I guess :P) walked along the forward observation windows. It wasn't really a window, but a holographic monitor being fed by hullmounted sensors... She could see the vastness of space, facinated by it. "Full sensor sweep!" she barked as she turned around, staring at the operations officer. "Aye, Captain, full sensor sweep..."

Space was full of species types who had chosen to forsake the comfort of mere home worlds for the bracing nature of nomadic space travel. For the Myenyans this was only a half truth. Certainly their ships were made to carry vast swathes of their populaces, sure their orbital habitats were drive-capable and they had decamped en masse from their homeworld in order to beautify and repair it, but this hardly made them unique. Be it personal choice or dire, even painful necessity, there were many species who walked the stars eternal, rather than living out their lives on a series of rocky spheres.

The DEV Beware, I'm Using Logic popped into existence with a thunderclap that marked its exit from hyperspace. Sensors snapped to life and took in its immediate surroundings, appraising it of anything of great...

Well that was interesting. The shipbrain scrutinized the results, running additional sweeps and organising it into various tumbles of numerical, abstract and three dimensional image constructs. Ships. Roughly sixteen of them. Most interesting. It buzzed a notice to the inhabitants of the vessel, itself, whose responses ranged from bemused interest to rampant excitement and on to mild indifference.

It decided that it would send a message. Would be the polite thing to do, after all.

Attention unknown vessels,

This is the DEV (Designated Exploration Vehicle) Beware, I'm Using Logic. We are a peaceable group of explorers and such. I am the shipbrain of the DEV, that is the hyperintelligent artificial construct which controls it, though accorded full citizenship, rights and privileges as a dilligent and proud member of the Myenyan Collective.

It is our cultural imperative to go out there and mingle, and so we explore, wander, take in the sights, pop down for educational trips...Generally enjoy life as it stands while putting ourselves out there and the terribly obtuse galactic stage.

In short, hello. We come in peace. How are you today?

Captain Nicolle Farrar sat in the her command chair in the center of the bridge reading operations reports on a computer monitor that she had raised out of the arm of the chair. Her ship the UKS Star Empire had traveled deep into the outer regions of the Milky Way during the past six months and was now on the way back to the Home System. Finally the ships systems had been restored to full power after their encounter with a Armegadethu World Ship that they had caught entering the Galaxy. Unfortunately the massive firepower of the Star Empire was only enough to damage the World ships FTL capability before escaping to warn the home worlds. Because of the possibility of being tracked by the world ship after it repaired its engines they had left the world ships location on a heading away from the home world then activated the ships Ghost Cloaking Device before turning towards home. Two days into the trip they encounter two races they have never encountered before ….

“ Captain I have seventeen unidentified sensor contacts one AU off the starboard bow madam and one is 15 km's or 9.32 miles in length.” said Lt. Arrorwood.

Now what she though as she said“ Very Interesting,Thank You Lt Arrorwood, I want a full scan of them, and do not drop the cloak. Helm drop us out of warp near enough to them to get a visual and come to a full stop.”

“Aye Aye Captain …. We are dropping from warp now within max visual range. replied the helms man Lt. Hughes.

[OOC] I'd love to join, but I have a question - anyone here have an issue if this meeting point happens to be conveniently located near Tigeria? Or did anyone else have something else in mind? (IE Plot element revolving around being near planet X)

Three Daedalus class cruisers sat near a green, verdent world, one of the Black Sword supply dumps. Battlegroup B-62 was on a routine mission and had to be replenished, when a message came back from the base.

Captain Carlos Rikeman sat at the helm of the ship, decoding the encrypted audio message with keywords learned from years of experience. He soon had the message completely decoded.

Carlos, we've detected a large group of ships gathering in a place not to far from here. General Rizan wants you to investigate. Go with the speed of the Soul-Spinner. Telros out.

Rikeman sent the message to the NAV officers, who quickly typed in coordinates also scrambled into the message that they knew the passwords to.

Rikeman sent messages back and forth between five escort ships and the last of the supply ships. Soon, everything was underway, and the eight ships cracked open Warpspace and...

....Soon reappered in space near the other ships. A long-range signel was sent out to the other ships.

This is Captain Carlos Rikeman of the Black Swords Mercenary Group. We detected a gathering of ships near here and were sent to investigate and help if needed. If possible, we would like to know what is going on here, for we have bases close by.

(ooc) interesting premise in having only the survivors of a war/s wandering on their flagships, but you'll need to explain how they manage to support and reapir themselves without bases and mining support vessels etc, maybe a few "mobile forward combat repair and support docks" as well as the longbows? Myenya... have you been reading Ian M Banks, "Culture" novels? some familiar elements in your post :D
I'll probably follow this thread but not parcitapate, will there be a OOC thread for this IC thread? (/ooc)

OOC: Placeholder for a post; also a bump. Is this still alive? :( And yes, Calarca, I have. It's my basis/inspiration

The single Infernal Frigate coasted through Deep T-Space. The ship had noticed the gathering and adjusted course before moving. The moment they were within range, the ship use passive sensors to pick up the emissions from the other ships to create an appropriate sensor reading of the rest of the ships. The ship went deeply into T-Space in case the ships in Real Space would have the ability to scan across the Dimensional Barriers.

Sir, I believe we have an accurate account of the ships present.

Good. We are about to make out presence known. Prepare the ship for Emergence.

Yes Sir.

Moments later, the ships present would notice the appearance of a gravity well that resembled a small star and several power readings that would match. All this was from a small 60 meter vessel. The ship faded into Real Space as it Emerged from T-Space, or the 7th dimension. Several strong scans passed over the ships, strong enough to cause paint to bubble on unprotected surfaces before a message was sent. The message sent would not be received by the various Comm Units but instead picked up by by the minds aboard the ships, speaking in the backs of those minds unable to block them out. The voice heard was each in the listener’s language and sounded like their own thoughts.

Greetings

We have detected the activity and came to investigate.

The eight ships turned their attention to the new arrival. Carlos sat forward in his chair, thinking upon the telepathic message broadcast by the new arrivals.

He quickly typed in a message to High Command, a simple, short one, but a dangerous one.

Send psy squad.

He then turned to the COM officer. "Harlos, send a message, broad-band, aimed at these... aliens."

Hello, this is Carlos Rikeman of the Black Sword Mercenary Company. Requesting permission to close to your ship and investigate.

((OOC: Yhea, we're still alive, not sure about the OOC topic thingie, never read any sci-fi novel, and I'll have to think about this whole repair and supply thing)) "Whoa," was the sensor officers comment when the first ship appared. As they were about to send out a message, more ships appared, and so the message, which read "Hello, we are the Varnians. We also come in peace. Be warned though, we are prepared to defend ourselves...", was send out on a broader range of frequencies... In the meanwhile the Longbow escorts entered into a defensive formation around the Stalker...

The battlehawk heavy Cruiser Endeavour dropped slowly out out of hyperspace and into a normal space. Captain Jessica Sato sat in her command chair as she looked out the viewscreen at the gathering ships.
"Lt Thompson, take us to yellow alert and rasie the sheilds" She ordered with a slight frown. She watched as the massive vessel's escorts went into a defense pattern around the massive ship.
"Science, how close are they to Battlehawk space?"
"Ten Lightyears ma'am" Science reported
"Anything from Battlehawk command?"
"Nothing"
"Verywell, helm approach the large vessel from their foreward bow, keep an eye on the other vessels tactical, and hail the big vessel, they are most likely the most of a threat" Jessica ordered.
"Yes Ma'am, com line open"
"This is Captain Jessica Sato of the BSS Endeavour, we have come to investiage movement within our zone of concern, do you need assistance, what are your intenetions?

Well this was certainly interesting. So many other ships and species had taken it upon themselves to just pop into the situation, to blunder in with their conflicting messages of confusion and overlapping intentions. It was, frankly, amusing to watch. The Shipbrain pondered all this for a moment, the appearance of variant vessels from other species, many unknown, now clustering about the first grouping, another unknown.

It ought simply to commune with all of them, to try and gain some sort of cohesive understanding from these divided, tumultous factions.

It decided upon a format that would suit it, that would convey its opinions, beliefs, and situational understandings, to those already gathered.

Hello multiple alien ships, I am the Shipbrain of the Myenyan Collective DEV Beware, I'm Using Logic.. We've stumbled across these primary aliens, these Varnians, who are by the way peaceful but well-defended, whispering and carrying big sticks.

We, of the Myenyan Collective, are a relatively peaceable anarchistic collective of sorts, a symbiotic society of intelligent (and hyperintelligent) machines and a relatively human basic people. We come in peace, to explore and enjoy the universe, and would like to say hello to all present.

Which is to say, hello.

I'm done now.

Yours with affection,
Beware, I'm Using Logic.

Have we received a recognition from any of the races?

There is a transmission but it appears to be a general one and not directed towards us specifically. A number of ships have turned to face us though.

Repeat the message and continuing scans.

Yes Sir

Beams of energy were continues to be directed at the other ships. They were not strong enough to damage but one could not assume they were just sensors. Each ship was scanned with their own set of beams.

While this was going on, the psionically transmitted message was repeated, the words formed from bits of memories from acquaintances’ voices within their minds, parents, family, friends, or even enemies. The voices formed the message sent by the Ta’Nar.

Greetings
