Conserative Morality

In the wide, wall less area, millions of Moralites were lined up, screaming for the entering First battalion as they came into view, holding their rifles high in the air. Of course, nobody could start until a few competitors arrived. In the mean time, a small army of semi-civies kept the Moralite hordes behind the landing area, and kept it well-lit in the darkness of Noctisdivu. On the large Monitor display, a simple message blinked on, in a pixelated green text:

Current Competitors:

The 2nd company, 21st regiment, 4th division of the Greater Tannelornian federal operational army arrived with usual Tannelornian flair. They hot dropped in three Horizon-T transports. One of which, carrying the trooper's and the TVHT's, landed first. As it dropped the bay doors on the under slung transport modules opened, the sixteen TVHT's raced out at incredible speeds, stopping suddenly in the center of the landing field, braking in an instant thanks to their much improved gravitic impellors [as opposed to the first batch of TVHT's which often had trouble stopping at all.] The Troopers themselves didn't even wait for the transport to land before disembarking.

The second and third transport's didn't even land, the Eight hellebarde MK II's dropped straight to the ground, riding on gravitic's and thrusters to slow their fall. The THT-2's and their TAT-1 counterpart glided down effortlessly to fall in place beside them. All in all the entire display took less then fifteen seconds to complete, and every unit fell in to perfect place, forming the symbol of the Federation, visible from the air.

Every soldier had added equipment namely additional NBC protection and armour, as well as siege equipment. The second company was a heavy assault Company, hence the huge number of Hellebarde II's as opposed to standard unit composition. Standard units were supported almost exclusively by TVHT-2's and THT-2's, as Hellebarde's themselves were reserved for heavy armoured divisions and units. However the Assault companies acted as a heavy punch for the infantry, so that any battalion on its own could function independently, without support from auxilliary formations. This was the sort of unit that would be made to hold ground in a "traditional" battlefield and was considered to be the most versatile [which in tannelornian terms meant surviveable] in any battlefield environment. Including nuclear warfare, which was just another, slightly less nice way of saying traditional.

The hellebardes themselves were armed for versatility, with a pretty much even loadout of dogfight, Tactical, strategic and Graser warheads as well as Urenbecht kinetic weapon and soothsayer heavy missile mission packs. In a departure from standard unit's, the TVHT's were completely unmodified, kept light for speed, to act as a rapid reaction force and as scouts and forward observers for the THT and TAT superheavy tanks.

The Tannelornian formation waited in perfect silence for the announcement of the games to begin, also to play it up just a bit more for the crowd.

Moralite men began to escort the troops towards the Computer, including the heavier equipment. Scanning each piece of equipment, as the crowd cheered, a screen replaced the competitor list. It was a scan of the simulated battlefield. A desolate forest, obviouslt the victim of a manmade forest fire. The dark grey ash and cinders spread out in all directions, choking the air around it. The crowd began to cheer and whistle as they waited for the Otagian's to arrive...

Hey, Set, guess what I just did!

Oh God, not again. Please say that I'm not going to have to call up the Three this time? I'd like to keep my command, GPAC.

Nah, nothing that'd lose you your flag. Just a simple competition that the Moralites are holding.

You're not cloning supermodels again, are you? We caught shit from the Jordaxians over that one, and there was a pretty stern talking to involved that I'd rather not repeat.

Bah, it was all in good fun and you know it. The conversion powered breast implants were a stroke of genius! Anyway, no, just some sort of ground warfare simulation. I've thrown a few of my own brew of Shinigami avatars into the mix. Entirely computer based, so no chance of accidentally sterilizing their world.

Shame. Carry on then, I'll uplink the feed to the Citizenry, see if we can't get a few Kudos out of this. Nuclear fire gets pretty good ratings for the most part.

In orbit, the Gave Peace A Chance didn't even bother to slow down, merely firing off a barrage of railgun fire before disappearing back into the Continuum. The rain of shells slowed slightly, before impacting in a precise grid, throwing up far less dust than their velocity and apparent mass should have dictated. The front rank uncurled, a small group of Herakles Avatars walked towards the Moralite officials.

Grinning, the most ornately filigreed of the squad gestured towards the field full of combat Avatars. "Hi! I am/we are the Gave Peace A Chance, and that there behind these mes is my Magnificent Metal Mongol Horde of Harmonized Havoc. Where you want me?"

A few armored troops began to escort them towards the supercomputer, as several Moralite officials muttered to each other."Damn copycat technology" "Don't they have anything better to do then steal our way of delivering troops?"
The Moralites began to cheer once more as they saw the combat Avatars come out, confirming that it was NOT an obital attack on them. Several bored Moralites, tired of waiting so long began to throw empty peanut shells at the Avatars as they were led into the supercomputer...

OOC: Not so much "come out" as the Avatars ARE the shells. Ovoids with space-warping technology make for great aerodynamics. Also, I've been firing Avatars from orbit for years before your nation was conceived, ya whippersnapper. ;)

Hrm. They're throwing things at my bodies.

You sure? They're barely a centimeter out of the hand.

Yep, predicted the velocity and trajectory a while ago. Accounting for wind and distort field, it's going nowhere near mes, but still. How rude.

Could always have some fun with it, GPAC.

Could I really? You won't mind?

Be my guest. The viewers love that sort of thing.

Glee! I'll give it a second or two from the time it left his hand, I wouldn't want to seem unsporting.

The haze surrounding the closest Avatar to the crowd shifted slightly, bending light in a new manner around the machine. A tiny fraction of a second later, the peanuts began to vanish at their apogees, little puffs of black smoke replacing them. Walking along side the ovoids, a Herakles grinned towards the crowd, flowmetal face winking dramatically.

The crowd gasped at this, and the peanut-throwing abruptly stopped. Of course, this didn't keep them from cheering at this display of skill and technology. With the exception of the peanut throwers, this only served to increase the crowd's excitement at the upcoming match as the Moralite men began to scan their equipment...

The Tannelornian formation stopped in front of the building, each squad leader moving to download all available data on their current equipment. The formation was set up for "traditional warfare" or full scale thermonuclear/anti matter warfare in the open. This set up, with variable yield nuclear missiles as the primary artillery was considered to be the most versatile. This of course was simply because in Tannelornian ground combat philosophy, less was more, except of course when it came to megatonnage. After all the small elite formation was more capable of surviving its own weaponry as well as the enemies with effective use of terrain.

Knight Captain Raumendacil gave a short speech to his squad's before they entered the tournament proper.

"Comrades, today we fight for the honour of the federation, today you have a chance to prove to the knight's you aren't simply a bunch of spoiled children with nearly half a billion guilders worth of training and equipment a piece." he smiled at them, as a father would to his son when he did something to make them proud.

"Our enemies are not so unfamiliar to us today, though they are of a different race, and worship a god computer known as the great pretzel, their technology and capabilities are similiar to some of our old "friends" in sol, admittedly the angstian's did have superior drone technology to the ones we will face, they are still very dangerous, especially as they are controlled by human operators. Remember your training and act upon it, do not let emotions or fear, most especially pride ruin your judgement. Most importantly though, enjoy yourselves my brothers and sisters..as after all its rare we get a chance to fight a series of battles without risking any harm to oneself. Also..its rare we will get to use so much ordnance in one place without risking frying an entire biosphere."

The assembled troop's laughed at his last jest. They had been careful thus far not to reveal too much of their own technology. They had walked in with Ubecht hard fields and DEM jammers off. After all, it would not do to give the Otagian's and Quetzel any time to figure out what they were using. The last time they faced an Otagian ship in mock battle had been over thirty years before, and current technology in the regular armies, let alone the Knight's far surpassed what had come before. Thirty years of warfare and internecine conflict, as well as a massive series of technological break through's had seen to that.

The Knight captain however secretly looked forward to this. The Otagian's seemed to prefer "Traditional" warfare as well, and would be a good proxy to see if the old protocols would still be effective. DEM jammer's would be effective enough in giving the avatar's a headache, distracting them some. But as they were not true drones, Avatar's controlled by human's. it would not take full effect. In this case the Otagian Shinigami's would be able to fight effectively, if a little distracted. After all they were still military unit's controlled by people, and though it would act in a way like a jamming device against remote controlled units, it would not start to tear away at their sensitive optronics or quantam circuitry.

Divine Energy doesn't mix well with artificial life, however against remote control, it was only as effective as a jammer..admittedly a very powerful jammer capable of jamming even psychic communications.

[OOC: Perhaps a small suggestion, why don't you kick off other topics for the other fights for this 'round'? That way, everyone else who's still keeping up on this topic can have their fights and keep it going, and whoever doesn't post and lets their topic die is disqualified/considered forfeit, and the person who posted last is bumped up to the next round?

Might help save the RP. ^^;]
