The Military of the Great Lord Tiger [Factbook]

The Great Lord Tiger
26-09-2008, 15:22
The Immortal Lands of the Great Lord Tiger is a space-faring FT Nation.

Terrestrial Forces

System: Standard-Issue Gladiator Unarmed Powered Armor
Appearance: http://img19.picoodle.com/img/img19/3/12/5/f_Gladiatorm_64d4961.jpg

Description: The daunting Gladiator armor is almost entirely for show- while it provides basic protection, it has no shielding, and its true purpose is to enhance movement for the contained soldier.

_______________________________________________________________________

System: Standard Combat Warrior Integrated Weaponry Powered Armor
Appearance: http://img03.picoodle.com/img/img03/3/9/28/f_Warriorm_1c77307.jpg

Description: The Warrior armor is much more combat-oriented than its smaller brother, the Gladiator suit. A large Nullifier-Type Heavy Xaser Cannon is integrated into the right arm, with a coolant tube issuing from the muzzle and into the fusion core (where the exhaust is simply consumed). The left hand is graced with a small, retractable Densilon blade, capable of considerable damage even with uncontrolled slashing. The left shoulder has a sensor package mounted, integrating a spotlight, as well as infrared, thermal, and x-ray visioning systems. While a bit more cumbersome than the Gladiator, the heavy xaser is a powerful addition to the infantryman.

__________________________________________________________________________________

System: Heavy Combat Champion Integrated Weaponry Powered Armor
Appearance: http://img33.picoodle.com/img/img33/3/9/28/f_Championm_3f58035.jpg

Description: With a rotary AP cannon that dangles below the right arm, available for use but not encumbering use of the hand, an all-purpose sensor package mounted on the right shoulder, a quad pack of antiarmor missiles perched on the left shoulder, and a twin medium-heavy energy cannon mounted on the back of the left forearm, the Champion truly is the champion of Imglot self-regulating and contained powered infantry exoskeletons. With a back-mounted Mortal-Type small fusion cell, the Champion armor is only stoppable because of human needs -- sleep, nourishment, etc.

____________________________________________________________________

System: Negator-Type Directed Energy Weapon
Appearance: http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/3/12/5/f_Negatorm_ada273f.jpg

Description: The Negator is a directed-energy weapon (what would have once been known as a 'beam rifle' or 'laser cannon'). It is, in all truth, little more than an energy-based assault rifle, being only designed for combat against other infantry. This is carried by the otherwise unarmed Gladiator wearers, and by soldiers in conventional gear.

System: Eradicator-Type Walking Armored Combat Unit
Appearance: http://img32.picoodle.com/img/img32/3/12/5/f_EradicatorSm_69e4191.jpg
Movement Test: http://ppc.warhawkenterprises.com/mechbay/image001.gif

Description: Based slightly on the mythology of a past civilization, the reverse-jointed, walking tanks provide increased visibility, at the cost of flimsiness compared to other, more typical, designs.

Weaponry:

2X Fury-Type Light Energy Weapons*

*The Fury is the smaller of the two beams mounted on the arms of an Eradicator. It is designed primarily for saturation of light armor and/or soft targets, but can also be added to a full assault against a heavier target. It is powered by the fusion core of the Eradicator, giving it nearly unlimited service length.

2X Wrath-Type Heavy Energy Weapons**

**Mounted alongside the Fury is the Wrath weapon. It is designed for the heavy armor destruction, as appears in enemy tanks. While more powerful, the Wrath is of course much slower than the Fury- making it only effective in combat against heavily armored enemies. The Wrath, like its smaller brother, is powered from the core.

30X Chaos-Type Long-Range Missiles***

***The heaviest weaponry on the Eradicator, the Chaos missile is designed to devastate structures, rather than enemy armor. However, if the situation calls for it, the on-board computer can track moving objects quite well- and destroy, or at least damage, upon impact. Of course, the Chaos missile is expended in its use, making this the shortest-lived weapon in the Eradicator Arsenal.

Space Navy

Class: Plague
Ship Classification: Main Battleship
Appearance: http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=galleonxq0qj9rg8.jpg

Structure

Length: .8 km
Hull/Structure: 2.6 meters of Densilon* armor; internal skeleton of titanium.

* Densilon is a proprietary Imglot composite created by the layering of cobalt, steel, iridium, and lead. The lead protects from radiation; the cobalt and steel provide armor; and the iridium has been noted to have a protective effect on ships traveling through Slipspace (see FTL Propulsion)

Shielding: Reliance-Type Shield Batteries**

**The Reliance is a ship-wide combat shield designed to protect solely against energy weaponry. Visible by its bright, glowing pods on the Plague-type hull, the Reliance shield battery has no effect against solid objects. Hence, while powerful against weaker energy weapons and resistant to some heavier ones, which are then met with the armor, solid weapons such as railgun rounds are only blocked by the Densilon armor.

Propulsion and Power

Sublight Propulsion:
4X Hermes-type Primary Ion Drives
5X Mercury-type Maneuvering Ion Drives

FTL Propulsion: 1X Hantog Slipspace Drive***

***The nature of the thing known as "Slipspace" is questioned by all of Imglot's scientists. Some argue that it is a dimension beyond our own; some say it is a reflection. Still others argue that Slipspace is outside of the universe. Either way, Slipspace is entered through the use of a drive system known as the Hantog, for the scientist who headed the research into entering Slipspace. There are dire consequences possible if Imglot's ships leave the universe; however, it provides some sort of time and space bending properties, making long distances more manageable.

Powerplants:
1X God-Type Main Fusion Reactor: Propulsion and Ship Systems
3X Deity-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Shielding and Auxiliary power
3X Demigod-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Weaponry and Auxiliary power

Armament

8X Vehemence Double-Barrel Laser Batteries- Mounted two to each hexagonal ring of the Plague-class, the Vehemence is a rather light weapon designed primarily for anti-fighter use. The computers that these relatively small laser batteries use is top-notch; a common joke is that they perform calculations more efficiently than the Hantog drive.

1X Ragnarok Coilgun- The Ragnarok is the one quality of the otherwise tiny Black Death that provides it a chance to eliminate larger ships. The top-mounted cannon runs the length of the entire ship. Operating under typical Gaussian Principles, the Ragnarok operates by using a series of powerful electromagnets. They change polarization almost instantaneously, forming a tube of magnets that, at first, pull the projectile, and then switch charge, pushing the charged projectile forward. This enables the object to reach astronomical speeds, approaching about 1/2 the speed of light. The projectile is constructed in a vaguely cone-like shape designed to puncture, and is filled with the incredibly radioactive Polonium. This makes the round glow with an eerie blue light, and its effects on flesh would be devastating. Imglot has few qualms about the use of such a destructive weapon- after all, the lead sheathing which is ejected after launch prevents friendly casualties.

________________________________________________________________

Class: Lightning
Ship Classification: Combat Freighter
Appearance: http://img19.picoodle.com/img/img19/3/12/5/f_Lightningm_80ab861.jpg

Structure

Length: 576 meters
Hull/Structure: 1.7 meters of Densilon* armor; internal skeleton of titanium.

Shielding: Guardian-Type Shield Batteries**

**Guardian Shielding is designed to be much more all-purpose than the Reliant battery. Guardian fields can counter both projectile and energy weaponry, but this comes at the cost of being less effective against both. However, this type of shielding provides an extraneous layer of protection against all enemy attacks, as compared to resisting only one type.

Propulsion and Power

Sublight Propulsion:
2X Hermes-type Primary Ion Drives
3X Mercury-type Maneuvering Ion Drives

FTL Propulsion: 1X Hantog Slipspace Drive***

***The nature of the thing known as "Slipspace" is questioned by all of Imglot's scientists. Some argue that it is a dimension beyond our own; some say it is a reflection. Still others argue that Slipspace is outside of the universe. Either way, Slipspace is entered through the use of a drive system known as the Hantog, for the scientist who headed the research into entering Slipspace. Powerplants:
1X God-Type Main Fusion Reactor: Propulsion and Ship Systems
1X Deity-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Shielding and Auxiliary power
1X Demigod-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Weaponry and Auxiliary power

Armament

6X Concealed Despair-Type Missile Batteries
50X Eradicator Walking Armored Combat Units

________________________________________________________________________

Class: Apocalypse
Ship Classification: Titan (Flagship)
Appearance: http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/3/12/18/f_Ragnarok2m_626e361.png

Structure

Length: 26.7 km
Hull/Structure: 3.9 meters of Densilon* armor; internal skeleton of titanium.

Shielding:

-3X Capable-Type Shield Batteries**

**The Capable Battery protects against both directed energy and projectile weaponry, providing an extraordinarily powerful second layer of shielding. The Capable shield system takes massive energy amounts, which prevent use on smaller warships.

-5X Reliance-Type Shield Batteries**

**The Reliance is a ship-wide combat shield designed to protect solely against energy weaponry. The Reliance shield battery has no effect against solid objects. Hence, while powerful against weaker energy weapons and resistant to some heavier ones, which are then met with the armor, solid weapons such as railgun rounds are blocked by the armor and other shielding.

-5X Dependence-Type Shield Batteries**

**Dependence Batteries are the complement to the Reliance-type system; this shield type deflects projectiles. While it can't stop everything solid from striking its ship, the Dependence battery repels enough enemy ordinance that survivability is increased by a significant amount.

Propulsion and Power

Sublight Propulsion:
3X Apollo-type Primary Ion Drives

FTL Propulsion: 3X Hantog Slipspace Drive***

***The nature of the thing known as "Slipspace" is questioned by all of Imglot's scientists. Some argue that it is a dimension beyond our own; some say it is a reflection. Still others argue that Slipspace is outside of the universe. Either way, Slipspace is entered through the use of a drive system known as the Hantog, for the scientist who headed the research into entering Slipspace. There are dire consequences possible if Imglot's ships leave the universe; however, it provides some sort of time and space bending properties, making long distances more manageable.

Powerplants:
4X God-Type Main Fusion Reactor: Propulsion and Ship Systems
7X Deity-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Shielding and Auxiliary power
6X Demigod-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Weaponry and Auxiliary power

Armament

50X Ravager Quad-barrel xaser turrets. (internally mounted, deploy in battle). The Ravager is the Savage's much bigger brother, equally adept at repelling enemy missiles and pounding smaller capital ships with its onslaught.

10X Ragnarok Coilgun- The Ragnarok cannon, operating under typical Gaussian Principles, functions using a series of powerful electromagnets. The Apocalypse-Class Titan mounts its Ragnaroks in retracted 'bays', deployable and targetable.

60X Despair-Type Missile Batteries- Despair-Type Missiles are small tactical warheads, designed for both orbital bombardment and ship-to-ship warfare. A barrage of these can ruin most smaller ships' day.

10X Banshee-Type Nova Missiles- A weapon whose very use is deplored, even within the militaristic Imglot government. Upon detonation, these missiles explode with the force of approximately 1 zettaton of TNT (1 sextillion tons), simulating a tiny star exploding -- the Nova of its classification. These weapons are carefully monitored, and only detonate upon a series of commands -- the missile is only detonated upon contact with an enemy ship, and then only after confirmation from its operators -- being within several hundred miles of this weapon would be folly to anyone.

Class: Raptor
Ship Classification: Capital Carrier
Appearance: http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/3/12/21/f_Demonm_f834a62.jpg

Structure

Length: 2.6 km
Hull/Structure: 3.3 meters of Densilon* armor; internal skeleton of titanium.

Shielding: Capable-Type Shield Batteries**

**The Capable Battery is a shield system developed for the once-pride of the Imglotian Navy, the Death-Class Superbattleship. It protects against both directed energy and projectile weaponry, providing an extraordinarily powerful second layer of shielding. The Capable shield system takes massive energy amounts, which prevent use on smaller warships.

Propulsion and Power

Sublight Propulsion:

Powerplants:
2X God-Type Main Fusion Reactor: Propulsion and Ship Systems
3X Deity-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Shielding and Auxiliary power
4X Demigod-Type Secondary Fusion Reactors: Weaponry and Carrier Operations

Armament****

****Note that, for the purpose of convenience, starfighters carried by this ship will be classified as armament.

28X Savage Quad-barrel xaser turrets. The Savage turret has four sizable xasers mounted on each turret. These beams are capable of disintegrating a starfighter with a single strike, and can do decent damage to any larger targets. The Demon's xasers are retracted until necessary for point defense.

Rule of Five:

Whenever a large fleet finds itself in a hostile situation, proactive offensive action can only be taken when the Rule of Five is honored; the admiral of the fleet must have 4 other ship commanders agree to attack without being attacked. Without this confirmation, weapons systems will not fire, no matter what the commander does. This is automatically overridden when the fleet is attacked, of course, and systems are free to engage; also excepted are point-defense weaponry (the laser turrets that grace every Imglotian ship) and starfighters/bombers, since these are not able to wield ship-destroying power and can engage an enemy attempting subterfuge.

The RoF came from the actions of Loren Wallace, one of the Immortal Lands' first admirals, who went insane and engaged a neutral fleet and brought about both his own ship's death, as well as several others in the fleet and the 'enemy' ship he engaged.

SHIP CLASSIFICATION

Starfighter: A small, one- or two-seated vessel designed to engage enemy starfighters. Typically equipped with forward-facing energy weapons, and occasionally ship-to-ship missiles, a starfighter can sometimes be modified to engage hard targets. The Imglotian Fleet uses the Orion Starfighter.

Starbomber: A two-seat starfighter that has been equipped with heavy armor and/or shielding, more powerful weaponry, and oftentimes, powerful ordinance for smashing hardened targets. This makes them slower, however, and more vulnerable to enemy defenses. An example is the Gemini Starbomber.

Assault (Class): A small warship (whether designed in that fashion or modified from an original design) that has been equipped to serve a purpose for which it was not originally designed. The Doombringer Assault Carrier is an excellent example; originally an Imglotian heavy (by comparison) frigate, it was given bays to hold a contingent of starfighters and given the status of carrier -- although it is by no means one of them.

Destroyer: The smallest true warship of the Imglotian Fleet, a Destroyer is essentially a moving weapon. Case in point is the Plague-Class; the vessel is little more than a transport system for the Ragnarok Coilgun. Destroyers are regarded as valuable but expendable parts of the fleet; valuable for their anti-ship capability, but expendable in that they are typically small in size and thus, no great loss to the fleet if destroyed.

Cruiser: The next step up in Imglot classification, Cruisers are the true workhorse of the fleet. They typically mount decent anti-ship weaponry, as well as bombardment ordinance, so as to be jacks of all trades, even if they are masters of none. The Imglotian Fleet has no Cruisers in active service.

Frigate: Known as Battlecruisers to other nations, the Imglotian Frigate is a vessel designed to be the same as a Cruiser -- all-around performance and capabilities -- in a more powerful and better-armed package. The Demon-Class Frigate performs its job well, equipped with a Ragnarok to attack enemy ships, numerous Savage xaser turrets for point-defense, and a significant number of Despair batteries for bombardment.

Battleship: These are the big brother of the Destroyer: dedicated vessel-destroying ships. Bristling with many ship-to-ship weapons and a sizeable amount of point-defense, a Battleship can usually fare successfully on its own against numerous smaller enemies. The Death-Class Battleship of the Imglotian Navy holds twin Ragnarok cannons in its bows, as well as a large number of Savage xasers, allowing it to both give and receive plenty of destruction.

Capital Carrier: The 'true' carrier type, Capital Carriers are large (about Battleship-sized) behemoths that have the sole intention of carrying a large number of starfighters and starbombers into battle, while providing point-defense to itself and others. The Raptor-Class has more Savage turrets than does the Death (albeit, the Raptor is bigger), allowing it to cover the fleet rather than itself.

Titan: Only once instance of this ship type has occurred in the Imglot Navy, and only one is likely ever going to occur. The G.L.T. Apocalypse, at 26.7 km in length, is a true deity of space. Wielding 10 Ragnarok cannons throughout its bulk (which are targetable, what's more), 50 Ravager xaser turrets (essentially stronger and faster-firing versions of the Savage, manageable through the increased power and space), 60 Despair Missile Batteries, and wielding ten of the 1GT Nova missiles, the Titan can only truly fear other enemy flagships, and even then laugh in their faces as it explodes a small sun in their ship.
