The Arandean Patriotic Party HQ in central Hellington was only a few blocks away from the Parliament Building.

It seemed like an ordinary day. Liam Shaw was not in Hellington. Instead he was in Millstead his home town campaigning in the upcoming elections.

at midday men wearing balaclavers driving in a black car drove past the Arandean Patriotic Party HQ. They parked outside and then they all jumped out of the car. They were wearing black from head to toe and they kicked in the front doors and started throwing Molotov cock tails in the Party HQ

then they sped off.

10 people were inside the party HQ but the fire spread quickly.

Within 40 minutes the Fire Fighters were watering down a burnt out wreck of a building.

Liam Shaw leader of the ultra rightwing party received the news. there were 10 charred corpses found. Immediatly he headed back to Hellington

"This act of terrorism will be exposed to the entire nation" he said to his driver quite calmly. As if it was no big deal despite 10 deaths and his party HQ being burnt down.

When he arrived his car was recognized for the party emblem painted on the side and the two flags of Arandea on the front bonnet. The Media swamped his car and followed him all the way to Parliament. When he emerged he said

"Its a terrible tragedy and an act of terrorism on Arandean soil! I want punishment for this horrific crime! We lost 10 good people who loved thier country! I cant believe this has happened here! This only streagnthens my case for greater protection for the people with my policies!" He then walked up the steps and into Parliament while the media was still on his heels

The Current Prime Minister, Shannon Jones walked up to Liam

"We are deeply troubled at what has happened! I cant believe we have suffered an act of terrorism in such a way! Is there anything I can do in this traumatic time for you and your party?"

"If you had of supported by anti terror laws in Parliament maybe this would not of happened!"

"I'm sorry Liam but I am not a fan of dictatorship"

"Just leave me please" said Liam heading down the hallway

Shannon then appeared live on TV to announce what had happened and asked for an immediate investigations and that the Elections would continue on schedule

"Dump the car.... Have you got the bombs set off..... Yes the deaths was a tragedy but its for the greater good. The Arandean people need a tough government" said Liam

"After this is over it doesnt matter if you get caught or not. Its going to be stitched up on the Socialist Unity Party, they will be behind it, I'll make sure it looks that way" Liam hung up the phone and smirked to himself.


.................Meanwhile in Parliament's Debating Chamber.............................

"My party's HQ just suffered an act of terrorism! 10 of my loyal party members died today! We have 2 days until Parliament is dissolved for the elections which is why its more desperate then ever to introduce some anti terror laws!" argued Liam going red in the face from arguing his point

There was just chatter amougst the other politicians. No one actually stood to oppose his argument as it would look bad on thier part. Daniel Bars the leader of the opposition and most likly to win the election then stood

"Do we know who committed this foul act of terrorism!?"

Liam then jumped up immediatly

"We have reason to beleive it was fanatics of Socialist Unity!"

The three most senior members of Socialist Unity; Party leader Mathew Toms. Party president Timothy Sims and Party Deputy Gavin Rowlings all jumped up and screamed denial at such an accusation. other socialist unity party members also jumped up and condemned the Patriotic Party for such a provocation.

The speaker of Parliament then started yelling for order

"I propose we atleast elect a head of anti terrorism and create a terrorism unit and intelligence service dedicated to wiping out terrorism!"

"One terrorist attack and all of a sudden we need security as tight as North Korea! We know you want to turn Arandea into a police state!" yelled Cameron Stymes leader of the Peoples Party

............................Meanwhile on the streets of Hellington................................

Ultra rightwing suporters and skin heads had gathered outside of the burnt ruins of the former Party HQ chanting fascist slogans and condemning communism and socialism. Supporters of Socialist Unity and the Peoples Party then began abusing them chanting "Fascists!"

it then escalated with rock throwing and before long Parliament was put on High alert. Police and soldiers stationed the Parlaiment and the politicians wernt allowed to leave. Disorder was on the streets with violence between rightwing and leftwing supporters.

Riot police quickly quelled most of the resistance but in all the chaos a Plain white van exploded killed 8 people and injuring 11.
Within 20 minutes a café's bathrooms were then blown up killing 12 people in the cafe and injuring 23 people.

Prime Minister then issued Martial Law and a state of Emergency and announced the Elections will be post poned until order had been restored.

The Media was all over the situation. smoke was rising from the terrorist attack zones and ambulances were rushing to get every injured person.

By this stage violence against the right wing and left wing had stopped as the terrorist attacks disrupted everything.

In an emergency session of Parliament. The Following Laws were passed

#1 Creation of a special Intelligence network dedicated to eliminating terrorism passed with 65% of the vote. The Network would be headed by Liam Shaw and it would be called ACTS (Arandean Counter Terrorist Squad)

#2 The Government will now be able to tap phones of terror suspects, passed with 54% of vote

#3 The Government will now be able to detain terror suspects for 48 hours without any reason and denied visitors, passed with 51% of the vote

#4 Parties found guilty with working with terrorists can be Banned. Passed with 100% of the vote

Quickly Liam gathered up all his resources and pured them into the newly created ACTS. Members of the already existing but underfunded Arandean Intelligence Service were brought into this new organization.

Liam called for an official investigation into the Socialist Unity Party in secret and using his personal wealth bribed the agents to give results favourable to the Patriotic Party.

Overnight, Files were created, information fabricated, materials planted and contacts of criminal organizations and known activists were planted in the houses of many SUP members.

The Very next day Liam presented this information to Shannon Jones

"My god! I cant believe this! How can Socialist Unity..... I dont believe this at all!"

"I know. Its unbelievable those people sat in parliament with us and helped make those laws with us! I call for immediate expulsion from parliament and detaining of the main leader of the party"

"How can I even react to such a..... Its too much" said Shannon who's eyes were open wider then ever and her mouth dropping

At Parliament Liam Shaw presented all these allegations against the SUP, Copies of the incriminating folders were passed around. Socialist Unity members were in complete Disbelief they could not describe thier emotions at this horrific event. Then ACTS Agents came in with a column of Soldiers behind then.

Politicians from almost every party stood in shock they thought a coup was under way. Some were yelling "This is not democracy!" and "Have respect for parliament!"

Some politicians walked out and some even ran out.

Liam Shaw began yelling to be heard above the comotion

"Order! Order! I call for the immediate disbanding of the Socialist Unity Party! and the arrest of its members!"

The Soldiers then escorted the SUP members out of parliament and away in black vans

Everyone was in complete shock at what they had witnessed

"I would like to propose the following laws to ensure order and stability!" yelled Liam who was still struggling to be heard over the abuse, yelling and panic of the Politicians

"I propose we permanently Ban the Socialist Unity Party! We must also begin investigations into the Peoples Party for thier close ties to the Socialist Unity Party!"

Cameron Stymes leader of the peoples party jumped up from his seat

"This is incredable! You dont have the power!"

"That is not all I propose! I propose the creation of a number of CCTV camera's to ensure stability in our great nation!"

It was agreed with 51% of the vote that Socialist Unity would not participate in the elections

But the Patriotic party lost its bid to ban the party with only 9.6% of the vote in favour of banning the party.

To introduce CCTV camera's the law lost with only 23% of the vote. Liam knew he needed more power in Parliament

Daniel Bar's stood up to talk

"Without a large chunk of parliament present we lack the ability to govern! I propose the election date is brought foward!"

Liam was happy at this. Shannon of the Labour Party was not.

ON the 25th of September Parliament was to be dissolved until the elections were over but with another Proposition Parliament would continue and with Martial Law in place the elections were post poned until whenever the government decided.

Agents of ACTS and loyal Patriotic Party members and supporters were working as best as they could to undermine eveything. This was an extreme gamble for Liam Shaw who had everything to lose if this plan to absolute power failed.

Most within his own party had no idea what was going on, let alone everyone else but it was obvious his place in this situation was far bigger then was evident.

News Paper journalists who wrote critical articles of the Patriotic Party or were left leaning had thier windows smashed with bricks at their houses. Were sent death threats and ACTS were collecting information on them.

Shannon asked for a private meeting with Daniel Bars

"I'm scared of what is going on Danial! Liam is..... I dont even know what to say, I just cant believe any of it"

"Well I see no problem with him although he really wants to push thorugh with the anti terrorist agenda. After the last couple of days I dont blame him, he did after all lose 10 members of his party"

"Its just a bit of a mess. I'm sure after the elections everything will be back in control. I am aware of the current poll results. I fully dont believe Socialist Unity is behind everything"

It was the 25th September. There was calm on the streets. the news about Socialist Unity, what happened in parliament and the allegations were out in the open and it sometimes resulted in short clashes with supporters of both the parties. Martial Law was still in effect.

In Parliament Liam was using ACTS to build a case now against the Peoples Party and building a stronge case against the Socialist Unity Party.

Parliament just sat quiet in disbelief with the odd interuption of objections and abuse. Eventually 20 minutes into Liam's damning speech all Peoples Party members walked out of Parliament. Another 10 minutes later the Green Party left as did some members of the Labour and Right Party.

"Well if they are going to boycott this next vote to bad for them!" finished Liam

"I propose we create a new position in Parliament called 'Head of Parliament' which will act as a speaker of parliament and all issue that are to be brought up are to be brought up with the Head of Parliament first for him to announce"

Shannon was disgusted at the idea but then again she thought it as a way to control Liam who was introducing new propositions left and right.

The Proposal passed with 65% approval.

Now they needed to elect a member. What Daniel Bars and Shannon Jones didnt know is that ACTS now had dirt on all members of parliament and so through Black Mail Liam Shaw was elected Head of Parliament.

But as a compormise Liam announced the Head of Parliament could not introduce laws (Instead he would get his party to announce them for him)

A a mark of protest the Peoples Party and Green Party announced it would not stand in the elections becuase of the recent abuses of the Patriotic Party. This act of defiance gave more confidence to Liam. Still he had his fanatics picket thier houses and smash in their windows with bricks and send death threats.

Privatly to Cameron his party member confessed they ought to leave the country before they are rounded up and imprisoned. Cameron shared in thier views and they all kept thier suitcases packed from now on
