The Republic of Emperya would like to offer this diplomatic outreach to all sovereign entities that hold property on the island of Degordia.

The Degordian Peace & Mutual Defense Treaty

ARTICLE I.
Peace
Section 1. No hostile action shall be taken against a Degordian territory.
Section 2. All borders shall be peaceably respected; none shall be contested.
Section 3. In the regrettable event two or more of the undersigned sovereign entities find themselves at war, the island of Degordia shall be a Demilitarized Zone, and shall not be theater to conflict.

ARTICLE II.
Mutual Defense
Section 1. In the event there is some hostile action taken against a Degordian territory, all Treaty Participants shall aid, in whatever means they are able, in the defense against said hostile action.
Section 2. Treaty Participants shall not take action that enables or facilitates a hostile action against a Degordian territory.

Emperya feels this treaty is in the best interests of all those who own land on the island of Degordia. We implore all such sovereign entities to sign this treaty.

The treaty doesn't really do anything to protect the area other than requesting that, "all Treaty Participants shall aid, in whatever means they are able, in the defense against said hostile action," who is to say what anyone is able to do? They don't need to do anything, they can just say they are not able. Then everyone rushes to their defense, and they do nothing for the rest. Do you see our point?

Were you to sign the treaty, your Degordian territory would be better defended. This would create ideal conditions for your operations, thus maximizing your profits. Your misgivings are well founded. Early drafts of the treaty demanded immediate military aid from all signatories. This was revised, however, after the consideration that some owners of Degordian territory may not have a military.

The present wording is an attempt to remedy the problem arising from that situation by requiring aid other than military. While we will consider, if signatories and potential signatories agree, reverting to the previous wording, we ask that if you have some wording you feel better obligates treaty participants to aid in the event of attack, you propose it.

We hope, after revision, you find the treaty beneficial and agree to sign. Thank you.

The Kiravian Empire, which holds sovereignty of the Territory of Kætria on Insula Degordia, is willing to consider becoming a signatory of this treaty. The Falkasian endorement of it further fans our motivation.

We shall see how tlaks and objections progress, but we will most likely choose to become a party to this pact.
