A riot in the Port city of Nouva Yourk, Tocrowkia left hundreds dead and injured tonight. However, unlike most of these incidents the military was not quashing student protests, or breaking up communist demonstrations. In fact, government forces were not involved in the incident at all until well after it started. Instead, this riot is another tragic example of violence in sports.
The Nouva Yourk Valkyries, one of the most storied and successful franchises in the Reich's Major League Baseball Federation (MLBF) was playing a double header against it's archival, the Bundial Blue Sox. Considered a must-win series for the Blue Sox so close to playoff time, the Valkyries cruised to 11-1 victory in the first game and four innings into the second promised to top even that blow out, leading 12-0 early in the game.
The violence started after Jill Haviland, captain of both the Valkyries and the Tocrowkian WBC Team that made the playoffs last time jacked a three-run homer to deep center that made the score 15-0. Fans in Valkyrie stadium started a "Wave" and began chanting "Blue Sox Suck! Blue Sox Suck!". Outside the stadium, disgruntled Blue Sox fans whom had been tailgating began to attack Valkyrie fans outside the rocking stadium. Within minutes a full-fledged riot spread over most of downtown area which took hours for police forces to contain.
The media of both cities exploited the story as evidence of the others fan bases stupidity. Blue Sox fans were even more outraged when the game was called off after six innings with the Valkyries declared the winners. So far the riots have been mostly contained, but sporadic violence between fans continues.
Dead: 232 Civilians, 14 Police Officers
Injured: 658 Civilians, 62 Police Officers
Property damage: Around six billion
