ELECTION MISHAP IN THE NORTH PACIFIC
The following quote was posted on The North Pacific forum by Election Commissioner, Flemingovia.
As election commissioner, I wish to bring to the attention of the Regional Assembly that we have just discovered that Tresville was allowed to stand in the delelgate election despite his not haveing been a member of the RA for 30 days prior to the election (as per the constitution, article 1 section 3.8).
It is clear from the voting that there is an overwhelming wish in the region that Tresville serve as our delegate, and there was ample oppoportunity for people to query his nomination before the election. I would also commend Tresville's honesty, since he is the one who has discovered this and pointed it out, and wishes this to be dealt with rather than remaining a cloud hanging over his term as delegate.
I feel it is important that this is dealt with; there are those who would use this to undermine Tresville's authority. Therefore I propose that the RA pass a resolution recognising the decision of the region in electing Tresville as our delegate, and retroactively suspending article 1.3.8 of the constitution.
In a sense this is a minor, nit-picky matter since that clause was intended to prevent an invader sweeping in and stacking the RA just before an election - not to prevent a longstanding resident like Tres from standing. But hey - nit picky matters are the heart and soul of TNP, aren't they?
F.
As it so happens, Tresville discovered his own mistake in this matter, and brought this to the attention of Flemingovia. Tresville had stated that, "I was combing the constitution in order to use reference from it in my speech, when I came upon that." and later mentioned that he, "found a few problems in the document [the constitution] ... I will approach the RA to discuss how to fix the problem. After this matter is resolved".
As it stands, several other members have voiced opposition to Tresville for this Constitutional violation, including Democratic Donkeys, who had this to say:
I was capable of recognizing my ineligibility to run for Delegate. Is this going to be a common theme with Tresville? I seem to recall a certain disregard for the constitution and a willingness to attempt to use the RA to subvert that Holiest of documents we hold so dear. But yes, lets just ignore the law when it suits our needs.
I cannot agree with your sentiments, partly due to the fact that as Election Commissioner it should also have been your responsibility to check those things.
I would say that this deserves a ruling from the court, as that is the proper course of action now, as a law has been broken, but it is most likely to be squashed by the so called "Old Guard" that you would have people believe does not exist. But what is this then besides a willingness to break the law for someone you favor?
Tresville countered Democratic Donkeys by stating that: "I am doing the right thing here" and "It is not my job to check eligability."

Attention Royals, Nobles and their Equivalents!
http://poopcannon.googlepages.com/Saxe-Somerdersatz_crest.jpg
The Royal Crest of the Somerset Family
Let it be known throughout the entirety of Nationstates that the youngest daughter of The New Inquisitions Monarchy is looking for a suitable husband.
Since their marriage in mid July, Kaiserin Viktoria Gryfynn and Kaiser Walter Wilhelm, otherwise known as North East Somerset have some how managed to have 5 children. In edition to this, they have a 6th child from their first marriage in the days of the LKE. With their first daughter Paige Claire being married to Sir Otto von Pitt, a high flying member of TNI politics, this leaves the royal couples youngest daughter as the only eligeable Somerset lady of the family.
Recently the Kaiser and Kaiserin announced their intentions to find their daughter a husband in the world of Nationstates, stating that they intended on involving themselves personally because it was important that their daughter was able to find the best possible match.
"No freaks, stalkers or desperate losers need apply," said Kaiserin Viktoria Gryfynn earlier. She also went on to explain that since Princess Alivyre is a royal, that her suiters should be royalty, nobility or at least an equivalent.
The New Inquisition has recently been shown to be the 4th largest player created region in the game and the largest player created monarchy region.
Many may already know about the Kaiserin's own NS marriage bungles. While still a very young player, she married Most Great Britannia of Empires of earth, followed by a short dalliance with Citizen Erased of the Land of Kings and Emperors. After he left the region, she entered into her first marriage with North East Somerset in the LKE, only to have him divorce her for political reasons. Almost a year later She was married to the King of hampshire only to divorce him a few weeks later for NES, who she revealed she was having an affair with at the time.
And they do say like mother like daughter. Princess Alivyre herself has not had the most stable of relationships. However she, as a newly adopted member of the Somerset House, believes it's time for a new start. She has asked for assistance from her family in finding the right man, and it is said that both parents have reacted positively.
Anybody wishing to meet the princess herself, and the Kaiserin and Kaiser Consort, should register an account on the TNI forums
here (http://www.thenewinquisition.net)
Suiters should be aware that the process may involve questioning.
While the royal family of TNI is on the subject of marriages, it should also be known that the Somerset's have 3 unmarried sons. Terms and conditions negotiable.
Suiters may also contact Kaiserin Viktoria by telegramming her nation of The New Inquisitors.

Subjects: The East Pacific
Date: September 17, 2008
Interviewer: West Dhaka, GNN World News[hr=brown]
GNN
Hello Lord Rahl, How Are you doing today?
Lord Rahl
Well enough.
GNN
Lord Rahl, you are the Heir to The Empire. What exactly is The Empire?
Lord Rahl
The Empire is a gathering of the best and the brightest. We are out to increase interest in Nationstates again. We’ve already revitalized The East Pacific, the fires will spread throughout NS if we have anything to say about it.
GNN
Interesting. Recently several members have been banned from the forum of TEP. TEP has been critcized by some members of the NS community about this. How do you respond to these criticisms?
Lord Rahl
Nobody has been banned. They have, in fact, been reduced in rank to one special forum. As an administrator, I will not allow flaming on the Board. Certain members of The Confederacy, whether they are acting with Loops knowledge or not, are doing everything they can to make us look bad. They’re not doing that great a job of it though, they are giving us plenty of clear provocation.
Lord Rahl
There are plenty of logs posted with reasons given for everything we've done, We have done nothing ‘just because’.
GNN
I see your point.
GNN
Lord Rahl, people are very interested in the leaders of TEP's history, May you explain your NS History to us?
Lord Rahl
No, I will not. I came to The Empire for a new start, my past would only get in the way.
Lord Rahl
Suffice to say that I have been in many places, for a long time.
GNN
Ok, but no, I don't think it will. People are interested and people will not hold it against you, but very well.
Lord Rahl
You would be surprised, I've already gotten plenty of hate mail.
GNN
Ok, Very well then. The East Pacific recently declared war on The North Pacific. What was thought behind this decision and hows TNP "meddling in your affairs"?
Lord Rahl
We declared war for one primary reason, The North Pacific has taken it into their heads that The East Pacific should be saved from The Empire. They have a history of Civil War, they don’t seem to grasp the concept that The East Pacific is not The North Pacific. Khark and Flemingovia have decided to take an active hand in removing The Empress, and the government of TNP has done nothing to stop it.
Lord Rahl
Gatesville declared war for that reason, we could do no less when it was in TEP’s best interest for security.
Lord Rahl
We will not be invaded.
GNN
That is very interesting.
GNN
Anyway, Lord Rahl the empire is well known for its RP. Care to explain the thought behind it?
Lord Rahl
A full scale Nobility has never been done in a Feeder before, we thought it would be interesting. The attitude alone has given us more avenues to wander then any constitutional government could. The in character mentality had originally caused some misconceptions and bruised feelings, but I believe most of that to be worked through now.
Lord Rahl
in-character, ratherd
GNN
Was there any prior planning before Phedre was delegate to get her in the delegate post?
Lord Rahl
The board was converted for another purpose, but the bulk of the Imperial Court had joined in mid June, that much was available for viewing when profiles were still public. The extent of the planning that went into the Empire as a government, and how to take The East Pacific, shall remain a trade secret.
GNN
Oh, I see your point
GNN
Anything else you might add?
Lord Rahl
About the pre-planning for the Empire? No, I think that about covers it
GNN
No, when I say that I mean anything
Lord Rahl
We’re all intelligent people in The Empire. We know how to hold a Feeder, and all of us are experienced at NS warfare. We want peace, we want activity. But don’t take that for weakness, we will pursue those who attack us to the very ends of the earth. And nothing short of the Second Coming will remove us from our seat of power.
We are always watching.
GNN
So, Did you think this was Anti-Empire Rahl?
Lord Rahl
No, It will depend on how you edit it.
GNN
Well it was an honor interviewing you Lord Rahl.
Lord Rahl
Be well.

0000 Middle Earth 0000 Elections
These are the results of our election:
Kollathopia I
Void Templar I
Huor Faelivrin I I I
Darkest Empires I I
I have decided to keep the actual votes secret, but if anyone contests them, I still have the TG's of the people that cast their votes.
Congratulations to the Overwhelming Festivities of Huor Faelivrin, for somehow winning this election, as a founder of our sister region!
Now, please everyone, endorse him, but also do not withdraw your endorsements from me as of yet. As for you Huor, hopefully you are going to accept this naming as the next delegate of 0000 Middle Earth 0000 by popular vote. As it is, you also have a place in the Council of 00ME, and you must disclose your password to me in our Forum (since both me and you are administrators of our off site forum, disclosing it won't be that much of a hassle)
Officially having the new delegate is going to take a while, but I stand assured that I leave the region in fair hands.. now hopefully it won't die out!
As for the rest of the candidates, thank you for running, if it wasn't for you guys the region would have never been the same. Thank you!

Canada Invites The World In After New Legislation
On behalf of the current cabinet, I would like to announce that members of all regions are welcome here on our boards, regardless of those regions' diplomatic status with us.
We have recently begun to implement our new Guidelines on Diplomatic Relations (http://z8.invisionfree.com/NationStates_Canada/index.php?showtopic=1771&st=0&#last), and in doing so, we often find value in relations with regions that do not qualify for embassy exchange. We will continue to establish embassies and exchange ambassador(a)s with other regions. That vital system will not change.
However, we want to encourage participation and exchange on a more informal level with many regions. In doing so, we learn more about one another and find new opportunities for NS gameplay.
In the case where regions are rebuilding or restructuring, it will give us the opportunity to get to know them (or you) better, and they us, before we make a decision to exchange embassies.
In short, please feel welcome to participate on our boards, start threads and discussion on inter-regional affairs in the International Voice (http://z8.invisionfree.com/NationStates_Canada/index.php?act=SF&f=23) sub-forum, and invite us to your region's events.
I thank everyone for their patience as we rethink and update our policies on diplomacy with other regions in NationStates.
In a Good Way,
jDELIGHT
Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Non-Crappy Region of Canada
[hr=black]
Update: The Exodus
-On September 6th the Minister of Foreign Relations, Dr Strange Love who has compiled the most recent reports, resigned, stating that he lacked the enthusiasm required for the job. He said he would rather resign now than "pull a Ticking Citrus," referring to the infamous ex-Secretary of State. Now the hunt for a new MoFR begins; as a position appointed by the Prime Minister it is likely that replacement should be found shortly. If you are interested in the position, please PM Oodge on The Exodus' forum, all applications are welcome.
-The preparations for the 50 Month Celebration of The Exodus are now fully underway. On the 2nd of August a 50 hour marathon party is to occur, followed by much reminiscing and discussion including a few games such as best costume (for we will dress our avatars up.) We will also host an award ceremony congratulating and thanking everyone (or as many as we can recall) involved in The Exodus over its time in a roll of honour, as well as special awards given out to nations who deserve something a bit more exclusive.
-Peaceful Llamas, the Regional Assembly Speaker, was to be absent for three weeks while he and his family moved to India, however he has now gone well beyond that figure as he enters his seventh week inactive. A vote of no confidence is a possibility expected in the Regional Assembly to gauge what the region feels should be done with Peaceful Llamas. During his time absent Konutland, as Deputy, has filled in doing a remarkable job, despite consternation at the beginning of his time as Acting Speaker.
-Two days ago The Exodus was requested to help an affiliated region, Imperial Britain, in the way of sending in WA nations to endorse the current Delegate to ensure the safety of the region as their Founder edged closer to CTEing and rumours of an invasion were rife. Although the request turned out to be a false alarm as their Founder returned the next day, it sparked a discussion upon the stance of The Exodus. Although a neutral region, The Exodus tries to keep strong ties with you; our fellow regions. Rejecting Imperial Britain's request outright, as policy would dictate, touched a nerve with some. While Oodge is currently putting forward the policy of promoting defences of regions by encouraging individual nations to assist if they want to, without having a regional taskforce, and is strengthened by Konut's opinion of invaders - "wankers " - it's still a tough sell for a region built upon peace. After all, we have to practice what we preach; "'For what can war, but endless war, still breed?' - John Milton."
-The Regional Assembly has made an amendment to the Constitution recently, involving who it is that accepts or declines membership applications to the Regional Assembly. The Speaker, and then his Deputy, has the right, taking over from the Founder and his Aide.
There was also an amendment to the Founder Succession Law: the amendment declares that in the case of removal of The Founder an election is to occur to decide who takes over the position, instead of the Prime Minister immediately attaining the position.
-The long-awaited return of Avolon presented us a little teaser the other day, with his holiness logging in while using someone else's computer. The wait continues...
