Élections Parlementaires - 2008

Yanitaria
20-09-2008, 06:53
OOC: I've recently done a lot of retconning, and I have decided to announce it officially by holding elections for the Yanitarian Parlement. The rules are simple, in that the winning party appoints their head of the party as the Premier Ministre, and each party gets a percentage of seats based on the percentage of votes they get, and may bargain with other parties in order fill seats they don't wholly own. For instance, if party A wins 36.5 seats, and party B wins 71.5 seats, they may agree to put someone who both parties agree on using their half-seats. In the case were two or more parties have most of the seat, but not all of it, they may circumvent any other parties and use their majority percentage to fill the seat more agreeable to them. An agreement is required to be reached with in 3 days, and no party may act unilaterally in the decision, or the decision will be passed to the Roi (the King).

How to Participate: I think it was Brutland and Norden that came up with this idea, basically you will be RPing the votes of ex-Pat Yanitarians in your country. To find the number of Yanitarians in your country, take your post count, and, if you have an embassy in Yanitaria, multiply by 1.5. If you have an Alliance with my country, either through the Fedala Accord or otherwise, instead multiply your post count by 2. Additionally, if you are a member of the Greater Dienstad region, you may multiply your number by 2 after the first multiplication.

So Lyras, who is allied and a member of GD would take his Post Count (PC), and do this:

PC x 2 x 2

While Alfegos would do this:

PC x 1.5

Simple, eh? Just a few restrictions. I reserve the right to tell you to bugger off, and that there are no Yanitarians in your country. Also, Yanitarians are generally left-wing, but there is a wide range of political beliefs, so don't have everyone vote for one party. Also, for reference, in French, the national language, Yanitaria is Yanitarie, and Yanitarians are Yanitariens.

OOC: Question, does Greal have an alliance or some sort with Yanitaria?

OOC: Nope. Due to the fact that wars happen so frequently in Greal, I'd be surprised if there were any immigrants. As it stands, your country is too unstable for any Yanitarian to leave their home country for, especially when there are virtually an unlimited amount of choices.

No offence, man, it's just that your country is probably the least stable country in NS. Even Kahanistan is more stable.

OOC: How on earth did I miss this? I'll post my results along with a short newspaper article when I have more time tomorrow. :) Interestingly enough, the Yanitarian Embassy happens to lie directly across a public square from the Nord-Brutlandese one in my capital.

Actually, I clicked on this thread by accident while navigating the NS homepage, thinking it was a discussion in the General forum covering the imminent Canadian federal election.

Article from nationwide newspaper La Repubblica:

Voting begins for overseas Yanitarians

Sandra Caffarelli

ARUGULA – Yanitarians resident in Ruccola lined up outside the Yanitarian Embassy on Independence Avenue yesterday afternoon to cast their votes as polls opened across the world for the upcoming parliamentary election in Yanitaria.
-----In scenes reminiscent of Nord-Brutlandese absentee balloting in May, supporters of the Parti Monarchiste, Parti Social-Démocrate, Parti Liberale and Les Verts gathered around the Independence Monument before polling began, chanting slogans, holding up banners and waving Yanitarian and party flags in an effort to spur their compatriots to vote. Once the embassy had opened its polling stations at one o'clock, long queues formed as the expatriates took advantage of their lunch hour to cast their ballots. Within two hours, the crowds had subsided, and the embassy was reported to have completed its tally of votes by five in the evening.
-----Internet polls carried out by Yanitarians in Ruccola suggest that the Parti Social-Démocrate is slated to gain the most support among the Yanitarian community, followed by Les Verts at a close second. However, a substantial proportion of these results were undecided, and it remains to be seen which parties are able to expand their supporter base to encompass these particular voters.
