Nations of the World,
The Abdizian Sovereign Republic would like to reach out to you in the name of friendship and peace, so that the ASR may become part of the community of nations through recognition. We have been an independent state since 1972, when amid the chaos of the the Macabee Civil War we regained our independence from our imperialist neighbors. We have become quite developed since then, and as our nation’s economic might grows past the demands of our few trading partners, we look forward to finding new friends out in the wide world, new friends for prosperity and new friends for security.
So I, President Nessie Campbell call upon you, leaders of the world, to choose to recognize freedom, and take a stand for prosperity by recognizing the Abdizian Sovereign Republic as a sovereign nation and a member of the global community of nations.
Sincerely,
Nessie Campbell
President of the Abdizian Sovereign Republic

[OOC: My post is short and not very well written, but I wanted to get something up today, since otherwise I would have had to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully, this will lead into some time of bilateral talk between our two nations setting up the path to your recognized independence. Oh yes, I updated the map and placed you where Riptide Monzarc used to be; you can see the change here (http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i291/Macabees/GDmap.jpg) (reload if you can't see the changes).]
Background history of the relationship between the Second Empire and Abdizia
One of the few that got away…
The story of Abdizia and how it came to have that “special relationship” with the Second Empire of the Golden Throne is quite fascinating, especially when taking into account that Abdizia was the only former province, in Greater Díenstad, of the First Empire to have escaped the “Great Civil War” without being reunited back into what became known as the Second Empire. This failure to “reconquer” Abdizia during the end of the “Great Civil War” is what caused Jonach I, the first ruling emperor of the Second Empire, to avoid the issue altogether and instead focus on rebuilding what had been united – Abdizia wasn’t important anyways, as it had no caused any havoc during the civil war. However, it also meant that Fedala was unwilling to recognize the independence of the state, although it also failed to recognize the state as a proper province of the Empire. This confusing, but convenient policy continued past the death of Jonach I and into the rule of current emperor Fedor I, especially since Abdizia intelligently remained neutral during the War of Golden Succession. The policy could have probably continued if it was not for the persistence of Abdizia to be considered a fully sovereign and autonomous state, which it was de jure since around 1905, but a truth which wasn’t truly recognized world wide. So, now Fedor I – free from civil and international strife, at last – had to be forced to take a true position on the issue, about one hundred and eighteen years later.
Abdizia had first come under Imperial rule at some point prior to the year 1890, following a political coup d’grace against the ruling party at the time in the 1870s. The resulting anarchy between the coup and the eventual takeover allowed the First Empire to subtlety prepare the country for occupation, allowing Imperial troops to enter Abdizia under the proposition that they were restoring order. Of course, it was mentioned that ultimately they would retire, but the date in which this would happen was never really officially set. Instead, Abdizia would have to wait about fifteen years to learn its fate. The Empire crumbled into civil war, as different factions took the reigns of different provinces and began to war each other for independence. The remnants of the ruling dynasty of the First Empire consolidated under a northern kingdom, now in the province of Díenstad, known as the Kingdom of the Macabees – between 1905 and 1930 the majority of the Empire was still held together under the hospices of this kingdom, until it was weakened by two decades of war and internal rebellion. These new factors allowed Abdizia to gain its de jure independence in the late 1920s, and without much of an army to do anything about the matter the Macabee Kingdom simply allowed it – preferring, instead, to worry about the situation at a later date. In that fashion the renewed independence of Abdizia took place, and in this is how the current situation finely molded itself into existence.
The political situation inside of Greater Díenstad did not help the situation. Half a million Macabee personnel were currently waging a never ending war with Theohuanacu insurgents, attempting to assert Imperial rule over that part of the region. There were still around two million Macabee troops posted along the Macabee-Stevidian border in former Guffingford, which had been split between the two during the final months of the War of Golden Succession. There were rumors of an impending invasion of the region on part of Gholgoth, and that would require a united defense to defeat. The reassertion of Imperial law in Abdizia could take years and would require hundreds of thousands of troops, and it was not something that Fedor wanted to necessarily dedicated himself and his country to. There were much bigger issues at hand than past quibbles and the enforcement of what were obsolete imperial laws. But, neither did he just want to grant Abdizia Fedala recognition. It would send the wrong message after he had spent two years squashing two rebellions inside the Empire during the War of Golden Succession; especially to new provinces, such as northern Safehaven and the majority of Guffingford. He could not afford to fight any more revolutions inside the Empire. Instead, he would have to find a middle path – something that allowed him to resolve the issue without bloodshed, but also keep the Empire’s image intact. It was not an easy situation to dissolve and resolve. But, this was not the most difficult decision Fedor had to take during his short, but increasingly prosperous reign (2015-present, according to the Imperial Calendar). So, he pondered.
There were certain steps he was forced to take. For example, by this time at least two armies were on their way to the Abdizian border. Although it was not likely that they would be ordered to invade the neighboring country, they produced a sense of insecurity within the Empire’s neighbors – it would allow Fedor to bully Abdizia into some sort of agreement in the middle of both extremes, represented by either obvious decision he could take (reoccupy Abdizia or grant it recognition). Furthermore, he quickly ordered the formation of a diplomatic corps to Abdizia to open talks between the two states, allowing them to diffuse the situation together. In the end, the result would most likely be an agreement which would trade Fedala’s recognition of Abdizia’s sovereignty in return for an economic and military agreement which would reassure the First Empire’s strength over the Western sector of Greater Díenstad. Such an agreement would benefit both countries. But, first Fedala would have to set up the situation so it seemed to the Abdizian government that this was the only route that was going to be offered to them. They would have to take the bait. A country that was looking to finalize its independence against an Imperial behemoth was not always open towards the idea of working together with it in return for something – most of the time, it was an “all or nothing” situation, and that was exactly what Fedor was looking to avoid by showing the Empire was fully committed towards using force to subjugate those which aimed to harm the image of the Golden Throne.
Marsa Bruth, Sarcanza
Return to an old battleground…
The logistics battalion of the 124th Mechanized Infantry Division had arrived to Marsa Bruth before the rest of the army, setting up base in the city. Marsa Bruth had not changed much since the War of Golden Succession, and much of the city was still in ruins. In fact, the local population had fled to the outskirts, or to isolated villages throughout the desert province. Imperial money aimed to reconstruct the Empire had not yet reached this enclave, with most of it being centered on Ruska and Weigar. It was quite a shame, since Marsa Bruth was the most beautiful city in these parts of the Empire – a relic that couldn’t be seen south or east of the border. But, now it served as a new capital of war. Most of the men in the 124th truly believed that they were being deployed to subjugate another country under the golden-white flag of the Second Empire. The job of the logistics battalion was to begin the preparation for the arrival of the XX and XV armies – two giant formations of around four hundred thousand men, altogether. It would be a large task, but there were five security brigades to help with the effort. This included stockpiling necessary equipment and materials, including fuel and spare parts, and the construction of new barracks. The barracks were to be shoddy, as they were to be built into the abandoned high rises of the city. The buildings were to be refortified, to avoid them falling to pieces during occupation, and then the troops would be left to their own devices to beautify their surroundings how they saw fit. It was an easy and cheap way to do it.
Operational bases would also have to be set up along the border, and these would house the majority of the combat personnel. Emplacements had to be dug for towed artillery, and forward observation posts set up for both towed and self-propelled guns. It was a large endeavor which would continue even after the two armies had arrived by rail, but one which was absolutely necessary. Without a proper logistical wall behind them, the two armies were easy pray to even the Abdizian Army. Tank parks had to be forged to house the hundreds of Nakíl 1A2 tanks being deployed to the front, and their respective logistics centered developed to make sure they could operate over long distances.
To anybody who was “out of the loop”, it truly seemed like a dire situation was developing …

To anybody who was “out of the loop”, it truly seemed like a dire situation was developing …
What sort of can of worms have I opened? President Nessie Campbell thought as he read the report of the Macabeese deployment to Sarcanza was quite worrisome, even though Nessie doubted Fedor I would in fact use the troops in a widescale invasion. The invasion would cost the Macabees too much money, and due to the growing level of recognition for Abdizia, a great amount of diplomatic capital—one can never invade a fellow sovereignty just to settle greviances from a hundred years prior. The Macabees had their chance, Nessie believed, and they chose not to act, and they can no longer choose otherwise, lest they risk a long, hard war which neither party wished to go through. The Abdizian economy was growing, and the Macabeese people were recovering from their own wars, past and current, now was not the time to fight for either side.
Aggression, however must be met with aggression, so Nessie really had no choice, the antagonisms by the Macabees had to be dealt with, and so the Department of Safety had to be called, and the boots of Abdizia had to go on the march. That was simple as that.
The Abdizian Military deploys the following divisions to the Abdo-Macabee border:
The First Army (5,000 combat soldiers, 20,000 support troops)
The 22nd Rail Guards (1,000 Combat soldiers, 5,000 support troops)
The 24th Mobile Defense Guards (1,000 Combat Soldiers, 3,000 support troops)
Telegram to Fedor I from Nessie Campbell:
Fedor,
I believe that this entire sovereignty situation between our two governments best be resolved before events quickly spin out of control, for neither of us wish to have a crisis on our hands, let alone a war. So I ask you to come join me for a conference upon the legal recognition of my nation and a way to pave a harmonious future for our fine independent states. The conference ought to be in a third party nation, where Abdizia is respected as a rightful member of the world community, as not to give the resolutions made at the conference any sort of bias or unfairness.
