History:
The Kingdom of Tharo begins at the division of three tribes inhabiting the area the Habistans, Marcians, and the Tauronians.

The Habistans beeing a seafaring people relied heavily on trade of timber, shipbuilding and fishing to sustain themselves.

The Marcians were an agricultural people who relied on utilizing the fertile lowlands and river deltas to grow crops of wheat , various fruits, grapes and raised herds of sheep and goat.

The Tauronians were a more industrial peoples living in the more hill and elevated landscape mines for silver and gold, and bronze which was used to make tools, weapons, and armor for the Tauronian army As well as rock quarries which provided for the building of larger structures.

Around 600BC an ongoing dispute between the Tauronians and the Marcians over fertile farmlands along the Destad river led into full blown war. The Marcians who were mostly farmers and peaceful people were quickly overwhelmed by the better equipped military of the Tauronians and in 580BC the Marcian king Hermicule surrendered to Tauronian General Marcus Selevius. The Tauronian’s adopted a policy of assimilation rather than enslavement and accepted many of the Marcian elements of culture including their religious beliefs.

In 520BC the princess of the Habistan’s married the prince of the Tauronians. Then in 519bc the Habistan king died without a male heir to the throne thus the Tauronian prince Vestovius inherited the realms from his wife as part of the marriage agreement.

A brief civil war ensued as several Habistanian uncles fought themselves as well as Vestovius for the throne of Habistan. Unable to unite against Vestovius the Habistan uncles effectively defeated themselves by weakening themselves. In the end two of the three uncles were put to death a third Beatus Corulus was exiled.

With opposition removed Vestovius again adopted a policy of assimilation rather than harsh punishment and adopted several aspects of Habistan culture, today many shipbuilders and sailors in the Tharian navy are of habistan decent.

In order to maintain compliance in 510bc the formation of a grand council was established. Made up of elected officials regardless of decent the council acts as advisers to the king who holds over all authority. And the Kingdom of Tharo was born.

Society:

The society of Tharo differs greatly from many other realms of the time.

While there are distinct social classes nothing prohibits a man from reaching the next social class. The only exception being of course slaves. While during conflicts the Tharians do not take many slaves they do take some. Who become farm laborers, servants, or tradable goods. Slaves in Tharo can not work to achieve their freedom but may be freed by their masters after 20 years of service. These freed slaves are able to start anew although they can never be elected to the council or serve as governing officials.

Another fact of Tharian society that sets itself apart from other nations of its time is the fact that both men and women are treated almost equally. Women can not hold governing positions but are allowed to enlist in all female units within the Tharian army. Women are also permitted to vote in council elections.

Most Tharians share trades that go back to what decent they come from, those of Taurian decent are generally miners or metal workers or builders, Those of Habistan decent are shipbuilders, sailors, or fisherman, and those who have Marcian decent are farmers.

The Kingdom focuses heavily on discipline, order, physical fitness and working as one combined force while fielding a variety of units.

The Army is the pride of both the King and the kingdom itself. Having fought numerous battles and developing new tactics over the decades of conflicts which led to to the unification of the three tribes which comprise the Tharian culture. The Tharian army is well equipped and very well trained. Those making up the Helestici or "Sun's Guard" are trained for warfare from the age of five, and form the elite corps of the Tharian army which serve as the King's personal bodyguards. Those making up the Helestici are of Tauron decent.

The Remainder of the army is also well disciplined and equipped compared to other armies who field slaves and conscripts. Training at three month intervals year long. As well as fielding some of the finest armor and best made weapons the world has ever seen thanks to the abundant mines that dot the mountainsides of the east.

Naval Units:
Triremes
Bireme
Two Quadriremes acting as the King's personal Flagships and envoy vessels.
Cargo Vessels Capable of carrying 150 tons of supplies or troops and equipment

While those of Habistan decent are elite sailors the Kingdom does not emphasise naval warfare instead focusing more on its army. Thus the navy is small when compared to other nations of the world but its sailors are by no means sub-par.

Vessels carry a varying amount of sailors, slaves mostly used for rowing, and marines used to unboard on beaches or board other vessels. Vessels are armed with bronze tipped Bow's ballista's or catapults to engage enemy vessels at distance with some ballista ammunition tetherd to rope in order to pull in enemy ships for boarding via specialized boarding ramps. In the case of the Quadriremes upper deck railing is covered in a layer of bronze.
