History

In the 7th century BC, Dorians attacked the Aeolians in Thessaly. The Aeolians fled, up land along the coast, looking for a new place to re-build their home. They eventually came across a nice gulf in the Aegean Sea and began a settlement there. The former leader had been lost in the fleeing and so a new leader, Leonidis I, took charge. He knew that they might need a new home in case they were attacked again. For that purpose he sent out 5 explorers and their families. The explorers came back many years later. Leonidis, in all his wisdom, saw that the possibility of a slave revolt was something which could not happen. He mandated that all slaves be freed and sent with the 5 explorers with the exception of his own personal slaves which he chose to keep.

The new home was never needed for the Dorians did not attack again. The new home became Mithinmapoleis. Leonidis eventually died and his son, Leonidis II took charge. He too was just like his father but met his demise in a timely fashion, just as Leonidis II came to be 18 years of age. He ruled for a long 75 years. Leonidis had his son Leonidis IV come to power. In the middle of his reign, a great flood happened. Not many people died but homes were ruined and the Empire was bankrupt until Leonidis IV died and Leonidis V came to power. Leonidis V balanced the budget and got the empire debt free just in time for Leonidis VI to come to power. He is the current ruler and the people never loose faith in the fact that their leader is the incarnation of 'God'.

Society

Most Tyrissians are employed as either soldiers, craftsmen, carpenters, artists, farmers or athletes. Most of Tyrissa gets most of their entertainment from sports events in which people fill coloseums to watch. Although servants have been banned for many years most wealthy people still have hired help that they pay regularly. In Tyrissa it is illegal not to practice Leonidanism. The entire population meet every thursday evening in the biggest indoor place availible to worship "God." The place of worship no matter where that place may be is called a Leod. Although idols of Leonidis are sins to worship, many paintings can usually be found in the Leod. Some times when Leonidis is feeling preticularly grateful he will sit on the throne outside his estate and let people worship him (from a distance).
