Adam King was 18 years old. It was his last year of school
He lived in the western city of Aston. The terrain around the city was flat plains and the city was quite flat. It contained many old buildings from the 19th century and early 20th century
Adam lived with his Mother and Father, both his parents worked at a nearby factory working on average 10-12 hour days depending on weather the factory was productive or not
Adam was only 9 when the Military declared the Militarian Republic. He then turned 10, 3 months later in May 2000.

There was a strict dresscode installed on the citizens of the country. If you werent in the police, Military or government then you were a simple citizen and were only permitted to wear a plain white button up top and long black trousers with black lace up shoes. For women it was 1950's styled dresses coming in a total of 3 different colours, one featuring a floral pattern.
While in school it was compulsory for the students to wear a Pin with the picture of the Supreme Commander Avory on thier chests.
It was getting colder, Autumn was slowly kicking in and the days were becoming shorter.
"Hey Adam what are you going to do once you leave school?" said Amber who was a 17 yearold girl, quite smart and also in her last year at school
"Well my parents are enrolling me in the 'Atleus Paradise' project. You?" he said looking at the girl who had long black hear tied in a pony tail
She took a seat beside Adam
"Well.... I want to become a great Atleus stage actress!" she said batting her eyebrows and pushing her head into her shoulders
"Well no offence but I'm not a fan of plays from Atleus" joked Adam
"Oh yeah you like those decadent western TV shows they allow on the idiot box dont you!?" said Amber joking back
Just then another last year student walked over to Adam and Amber
"Hey, what are you guys doing here? Come to the student lounge its warmer" The Student said
His name was William and he had light brown hair and green eyes and quite a pale complection.
"Will, come and join us. Me and Adam are having a discussion about our futures" said Amber patting a spare space on the bench beside her
"Like you mean as a profession when you leave? I already got that sorted for me. Become a lawyer attending the greatest University Atleus has to offer the Irons Univeristy in Militaria!" William said Excitedly
"Hey Adam arnt you going into some government project after school?" asked William
"Yeah... Basically when school finish's the government is going to drag me off to a new 'Paradise Community' which is half way in construction. I'll be working in a new factory and living in a brand new flat with 3 other enrolled 'volunteer patriots' pretty amazing huh" said Adam quite unenthusiastically
"Well Adam if my acting career fails I'll join you in the new paradise community" Said Amber
"There are 17 of these new communities being built they could drag you to either one. Not nessasarily my community"
"That why we should apply for a marriage permit and become 'heroic partners in the patriotic struggle to build Atleus in the grand task of becoming a pure and utopian state!" said Amber quoting a government slogan word for word
"You know its scary you know so many of thier slogans" said William jokingly
"You call us 'their' and refer to the slogans as thier slogans! Dear Patriot they are the peoples slogans and the government is the people and therefore dont look at them as another entity" said Amber staring blankly at William
The three of them sat quietly then Amber started to smile and broke into laughter
"Oh Amber thankgod! I worry about you sometimes. I was beginning to think that small area inside your skull was no longer a brain but a sponge soaking up 8 years of Militarian ideology!" said William
"See, I could so be an actress. Besides If I was too orthadox Adam our passive citizen here would never want to marry me" said Amber clinging to Adams arm while Adam just laughed
The Bell went to signal the end of the lunch break
"Yes, more drama practice! Hey I hope I can count on seeing both of you at the production tonight"
"Sure thing Amber" said Adam
"Yeah I'll be there" said William
The three parted and went thier seperate ways

Adam had just finished History. The teacher just gave a leacture on how the Supreme Commander Avory Irons had restored national pride in Atleus and they were now switching to a new topic called "Supreme Commanders Upbringing" the new topic would even include a class trip to the Birthplace of the Supreme Commander.
Adam walked out of the school grounds where William caught up to him.
"Hey My permit has been approved to allow 4 friends to stay the night this weekend at my place...." said William
"But theres a but right?" asked Adam
"Well you will need to be evaluated at the police station to see if your fit to come to my house"
"Oh god. Let me just polish my Avory Irons pin and reherse some slogans and it will be all good"
"You shouldnt be so lose with your words. You know the school is recruiting more kids into the Loyalty Squad"
"Fine... I'll see you at your place this weekend. And I guess I'll be seeing you at the production tonight also"
"Yeah.. seeya" said William
Adam made his way around the decaying streets. Unlike Militaria most other cities in Atleus were crumbling. The buildings were extremely old and have not been repainted, repaired for over 20 years and theyw ere already old buildings. The streets were also cobled throughout most of the city but it didnt really matter as private transport was Illegal
Another girl Lydia walked up to Adam
"Hello Lydia. What brings you in this direction?"
"Well I want to talk to you... About William" she said quite nervously
"What is it? Is he ok?"
"Well your one of his closest friends and I really like him. This is so embarasing but can you... sort of see what he thinks of me?" she said
"Well your going to the Production tonight arnt you? You'll see him there. Honestly I think you have a chance with him. But for the future I'll see what I can do when I'm talking with him" said Adam
"Thank you" she said
Adam while on his way home managed to bump into 2 military road roadblocks and one patrol and had to produce him ID 3 times before making it home
When he finally made it home his mother was dozing on the sofa. The TV was on with its single channel but nothing of interest was on. Only government approved cartoons presenting the youth with militaristic values. Because most communist nations operated quite similar to Atleus some cartoons were even imported from those countries and dubbed over in Atleusian language.
"Mum are you coming to the Production tonight?" asked Adam
His mother slowly sat up quite dazed
"Oh... I'm a bit tired to be going out. Probably not"
"Ok fine"

The school drama room was quite a small room and this was a small scale production involving the senior drama students. The room was slowly filling with people.
Adam enetred and sat in the second row. Then Lydia came in. She was wearing the latest purfume and some make up Adam was quite shocked at how any student could obtain such luxuries but then didnt think much more on the matter. She came slowly over to Adam
"Where do you think William will sit?" she asked
"Next to me probably? I dunno"
"I'll sit behind you. If I fail to get the courage to speak to him can you give him this note. But only if I dont speak to him tonight" she said
"Ok sure thing Lydia" Adam said with a smile across his face
