Shai, The Ryou Black Islands

The Revolutionary Imperial Geological Ministry today annonced that a new Island was discovered between in the waters between Xanadou and Sudeki. Ths Island is over 2,166,086 km², the size of Greenland it self.

"The Islands, which we have named Terra Australis Isabella, is part of a group of 40 Islands that are mostly no bigger then the size of Java." The Minster of Geology, Banpongai Namsiu said.

Already, The Idea of a Large Island is said to be good for many Aventurers who would go the the Island.

Saar-Silverda, Kirav, Kiravian Empire

Five exploratory ships, as well as a frigate and gunboat, left the sparkling bay north of Saar-Silverda, and set out into the Pelagic Ocean, towards Xanadou and her adjacent waters.

The expedition, christened Armada áu Isabella, was being sent to the recently discovered archipelago in the interests of Kiravian trade and colonisation. It was a state initiative managed by the Cambrum áu Colónitor, though contributions from the West Pacifica Company and the Helkär Corporation made up a respectable fraction of the fleet's budget.

Their mission was to perform a topographic, meterological, minerological, and agronomic survey of the islands, as well as claim portions for Kiravian settlement.

The Marquess Corporation, Mining Division, has reason to believe that there are PGM deposits on certain parts of this island and as such will send an expedition to conduct testing and eventually open mines in the land they claim. Metals in this group are important to our national, and the global economy, and must be claimed, mined, and introduced to the market in a slow and controlled fashion, so cannot be allowed to sit around for a poorly-led company to exploit.

We are willing to send negotiators and money in order to ensure that what we claim remains ours.

Thank you,
Board of Governors

Deep in the bowels of the Just Rewards a seismometer slowly began to register activity. When plotted agains the computer generated map of the sea floor it clearly showed an anticlinal slope with considerable seismic activity. However at that time no one was there to see, with the night shift resting, tired from days of work. It would be some time before anyone noticed.

OOC: Do you have a map, or is geography free-form within the descriptors you've already stated in the OP?

IC:

The Armada áu Isabella was only a strong as its commander: Isthus Venrur.

Venrur was a Krinstev, an ethnic group with little connection to the sea, as opposed to his maritime crew, which was composed mostly of seafaring Anglev, Coscev, Lusev, Insdev, Sea Kiravians, and Echoese. But he was indeed a very capable explorer. Thirty years or so prior, he had helped chart the islands that were now Ålavora, a successful colony. He had also discovered Fanlin Island, an "airstrip colony"[Like Midway, while still in use].

He was also well-versed in cultural contact and in Kiravisation, trusted by the Cambra to negotiate with the natives for territory, and to help make them part of the Empire while preserving the indigienous culture.

The fleet was well stocked with mission personnel: A complement of surveyors, botanists, chemists, geologists, meterologists, linguists, zoologists, and ethnologists had been berthed in order to collect data neccessary for colonisation. A few dozen private passengers: Missionaries and merchants, intended to stay on the islands to trade and preach.

While the world was going wild for The Isabellan Archipelago, the Ryouese were jost usy wth their own problems....For now

But Private explorers and Aventurers were soon heading for The Islands for their own reasons.

and that is when some reports came in.

One Aventurer landed on the Large Island known as Terra Incognita Island with 20 people and disappeared, another Explorer found the body and his party. Their hearts cut out.

a Thrid came back to the Ryou Black Islands tellng stories about seeing Cities of Gold and Silver, People Dressed in Gems, rideing Deer-like Animals and worshiping blood drnking gods by cuting the Hearts out of other people. The Explorer telling these stories was on Terra Incognita Island it self.

These stories were odd and exciteing.

Seawind Island, Terra Australis Isabella

As the dark shapes of ships prowled the coast, seventy-five Kiravians stood on the shore of Seawind Island, named for the late Emperor, as Admiral Venrur spoke from a makeshift podium.

"Colleagues, this day marks the beginning of our true mission in these Islands. Today we have landed on this island, Insula Marérthir, and shall begin our efforts to bring this island into the Empire, through exploration and colonisation.

It is with the highest honour that, in the name of Emperor-Regents Blackfield and Delphinicus, I hereby claim this island as the Seawind Territory, as a jurisdiciton of the Kiravian Empire."

A complement of 1,200 soldiers, as well as 2,345 research personnel were left encamped on the northern coast of Seawind Island, with provisions for two weeks. The rest of the fleet would proceed to circumnavigate the island, and continue exploring the archipelago.

The Armada áu Isabella was navigating the Vendrur Strait, that is, what they named the narow body of water between Terra Incognitia (Ísabela), and Insula Maréthir.

The Empire had sent orders to inspect the coast for settlement, though no formal claim had yet been established. The two bays of Ísabela on the southern edge of the strait would make excellent ports for controlling access to the waterway, as well as centres for trade.

Her literaly ran up to the command centre, where he found the captain.

In an unnamed bay of the Islands the entire survey fleet had gathered and was taking readings, and proping the various deposists. They had yet to calculate the size of teh gas fields but they where large, to say the least. If one could look deep into the near by Rainforests of the Island, one would find that the Kiravian Ships were being watched from afar by a group of people watching, looking at the odd looking boats between The Large Island and Marethir.

also watching was a woman, 23 years of age, with a Large Black Line, going from one cheak to the other, painted on her face. Bloune hair going to the back of her neck. She wore a Bikini-like Top and Loin cloth.

The Santherese expedition had disembarked from the Eastern Properties, which were near enough to the Islands that they had a high ex-Ryou population. They had two modified container ships, much resembling the Argus, though being for cargo and industrial operations rather than aircraft and hospital services.

The Marquess Corporation spared no expense with security or equipment and approached the large island just east of the Belschaft claim, preparing to send in surveyors and a detachment of Rangers from the Giarelli House Army. They were looking for precious metals and were certain they would find something of value, even if their main goal -- being extremely rare -- was unattainable.

The head of the operation, Marco Ciaramitaro, was hoping for palladium, personally, though he was fully aware that no such deposits were typically to be found in areas like this. They would find out exactly what they could soon, though. The Merlins were already lifting off.

(OOC: Belschaft, no problems with me claiming that island, yeah? Our companies can work out a deal if necessary -- I need a large area but preferably no the mainland.)

OOC: a Intro for one of The Cultures on The Large Island.

IC: The Eastern Part of Terra Incognitia was Mountains, Hills and Volcanoes with a Large Plain between the Two Rivers, one was known as The Kapalaxhee and the one close to The Japsichee Mountains was The Chumaucax.

The Mesopotamian Plain and the Japsichee Mountains were the home of many kingdoms, The Tapazoic, the Dacheepokie, The Banchee and others.

The peoples of the Highlands would remind one of Scotish and Incas mixed into a Culture that loed The High Mountains and lived on them. the Plains wer the home of Nomadic Tribes that hunted Elephants and Tanpacizchees (a Pronghorn-like Animal the size of a Horse) in the plains.

a Few in the Southern area of the Plains rode on the Tanpacizchees huntng Cow like Kaplchu that live close to the Rainforest.

CTS Warspite (CG-105)
Approaching the Terra Australis Isabella Islands

The Warspite was a Type 54 patrol cruiser, and as such was among the most capable surface combatants in the Tolvanic Navy. As was typical of Type 54s, she'd been conducting solo patrols in the area when word of the discovery of a large island chain had arrived in Brayton. The Warspite had quickly been redirected to the islands to claim a small portion for the Commonwealth. After considerable review by geologists and military planners it was decided that Tolvan would claim only the island they'd named "Gryphon" (OOC: the larger island to the northwest). Once the island was secured, engineers would be brought in to construct a small garrison on the island and survey missions would begin.

Once the Warspite closed to within 100 nautical miles of the island the cruiser's UH-96L "Bagheera" utility helo had lifted off, carrying a twelve man marine rifle squad to the island. The Warspite carried a reinforced rifle platoon of sixty marines and they would shuttled to the island in five trips.

Hawthorne Air Force Base
1,000 nautical miles from the Terra Australis Isabella Islands

Hawthorne AFB was located on a desolate island south of the TAI Islands was home to 1,500 Tolvanic personnel and just over sixty planes. Two big KP-191D "Starkeeper" tankers were sent aloft to the refuel the four C-201A "Skyfreighter" cargo planes. The lumbering C-201s were carrying the lead elements of TF Gryphon, four hundred paratoopers who would help secure the island and begin work on a permenant airfield. After refueling the the planes would need just two hours to get into position to drop their loads.

"Gryphon"

The helo came to a hover one meter above the ground (to avoid any mines of explosives that might lie about), four of the marines jumped out and immediately scanned the area. Once they were satisfied that it was secure they signalled the other eight marines to join them. Once the marines, and several large rucksacks were unloaded, the helo gained altitude and headed back to the Warspite, they'd be back with the next load in about an hour and a half.

The marines quickly set to work establishing a defensive position, not difficult as they were on the highest peak for several miles in any direction. Two of the men sat up a AQS-306 SATCOM system. Once the system was up and running one of the men plugged in a small digital video camera and began recording as the 2nd Lieutenant in charge of the detail pulled out a Tolvanic flag mounted on a small flag pole and made a great show of planting it on top of the hill. "I claim this island in the name of the Commonwealth of Tolvan," he spoke directly into the camera. Once the recording stopped it was quickly uploaded to the Regional Command at Hawthorne AFB, where it would edited into press releases to be issued once the island was secured. Before this however, copies would be e-mailed to all nations with known claims to the islands, along with a map of the claimed areas and a brief outline of the Commonwealth's plans for the island.

OOC: I don't usually get involved in claims threads, so my involvement will be minimal. Also, my marines have landed near the large bay on the right (east) side of the island. For RP purposes the area is suitable for both an airfield and small port (once construction is completed).

The Colony Fleet soon came to the Northern Coast of The Island of Isabela. The Nekos on the Ships cheered as land was sighted. Soon, Smaller Boats were sent to search for a Area for landing on and starting a Settlement.

The Ryouese were going to have a Colony.

The Ryou Black Islands

Back on the Home Islands, a new group was being started. one controled by The Martine Armed Force. Rumors of Cities of Gold and Silver had made the Empire hungry for the riches of The Isabellan Islands. Seawind Territory

Insula Maréthir was a promising find. KE prospectors had discovered deposits of iron, manganese, natural gas, and lead/zinc. The soils of the southern portion of the territory were fertile, and the forests were rich in timber.

The ICS Linderium, a colony transport, dropped off her payload of 5,300 settlers at the encampment set up by the explorers.

After the deadly encounter with the natives, all further forays into the interior had been made escorted by KE soldiers. The Linderium was also carrying concrete and some light artillery to defend the settlement from native raids.

The town, now named Ëverdsar, was a set of ditches and prefabricated buildings adjacent to the scientific encampment. Colonists were busy unloading boats sent from the Linderium, bringing ashore more prefabs and crates of heavy equipment. Some were shovelling out foundations and setting up houses and storage facilities as the Territorial Governor, Ridur MecTactin, and his urbanographers directed the cosntruction.

Meanwhile, the Armada áu Ísabela had recently circumnavigated Insula Norþis Ísabella (Svalbard, on the map). Admiral Venrur had beached a landing party there a few days prior, but tests regarding minerals were still underway.

The Isabellan Ranforests, Isabela Island.

The Rainforest was peaceful......unless one was a Arkuian about to defend their Village from a Horde of Zapazec Warriors. The Arkuians were a Rainforest tribe. Peaceful when not attacked. Their Weapons were stone tipped Spears and Clubs. They wore large leafs or did not wear anything at all. Like most Isabellan Tribes, Females and Males fought as Warriors.

Their enemies, the Zapazecs were a more Avance people. Armed with weapons of Bronze and obsidian. The war-like Zapazecs attacked other tribes for victims for Human Sacrifice. they worshipped the Blood Sun God, Nathalil, The Dark one.

The Arkuians had 3,000 warriors, and they were out numbered by over 13,000
Zapazec Warriors. The Arkuians had one thing on their side: the Trees. The Arkuians lived in tree houses and were good Archers. With Bows, the Arkuians attacked the enemy Army. Flameng Arrows killed over 5,600 Zapazecs, who ran for their lives.

The Island was a island of blood.

OOC: I shall be claiming the island that looks like Iceland on the map at first but I may expand later on in the future; hopefully I won't have to deal with xenophobic native tribes. The first part of this post deals with a little backstory at how my nation comes to hear of this discovery by the Ryou. The next part will then deal with the actual claiming of the island. I don't have a name for it yet, though.

"I think Her Majesty's Government will find the settlement of lands in Terra Australis Isabella to be beneficial for the Ixanian Empire's wellbeing and prestige. Consider the many reasons behind my proposal. One, we can send off excess population to our new colony and let our poor people have a new start. Two, we can have ports from which we can trade with other colonies in the area. Three, it is highly possible that we may learn more about the world around us, that is, if we come across natives. God forbid, though, that they be a bunch of murderous savages but it's the price we pay, no?"

Her Majesty's Government had convened a special meeting to discuss the plans to claim land in Terra Australis Isabella in the name of the Ixanian nation which had unexpectedly been fascinated by colonialist ideals emanating from a clique of politicians who favored peaceful overseas expansionism on the basis of securing a good reputation. Her Majesty sat on the head seat of the line table with her exquisite business suit being worn at it always happened to be whenever she was called upon to attend some meeting; her eyes scanning records that suggested several ships were ready to go at the government's command to claim lands. She had been influenced by the Colonial Clique and was supportive of the new plans. They would create the newest addition to the family of Ixanian colonies and exploit its resources for the Empire's benefit while paying respects to any natives in the area. One of the attendees of the meeting, a mustached man who looked like a Victorian British corporal, rose from his seat to deliver her thoughts to Her Majesty who smiled at him as he spoke in a proud but refined tone. "....It is essential that we start off at that little island away from Isabella Island as we can use it as a base of operations. We have been told that many people would want to go out and settle the island. I think that it would be a profitable venture for our people. We could take the opportunity for new lands and resources as well as new relations. If there are natives on the island then we can study them and enlighten our minds as our colleagues here have suggested. We can also establish trade with other colonies as was suggested and thus have relations with their mother nations. It's possible that we may establish ties with the Ryou who have opened up these lands to other nations instead of just claiming them all for themselves. Your Majesty....I humbly request we fully claim this land."

This man was one of the members of the Colonial Clique, Anastasia knew, so it would have been expected for him to simply preach about the merits of colonization. There were those, she knew, who didn't feel like getting involved too deeply in this land claim scheme as they termed it but she wanted to claim it. She was fully convinced of those merits. She rose from her seat and began to speak in a refined tone. "....We shall take full control of this piece of land which you fine gentlemen and ladies have brought to my attention. It is essential that we respect and treat well all natives who live on the island and any one found guilty of not abiding by our orders shall be severely punished to the fullest extent of our law; I must also state that you all have permission to immediately ship out settlers and soldiers to the island for the purposes of claiming it. I will leave it up to you to christen it with a name. Go now and do your work."

The ministers abandoned their seats with stoic faces and immediately went to work for the purposes of bringing more land into the Ixanian Empire's bosom. Settlers of all walks of life were brought to ports from which they would get aboard ships which would sail to the unknown little land in the faraway seas and all of them prayed that nothing would go wrong.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ships finally arrived after a day or two at the island which the Ixanian Empire declared was its own property with its occupants immediately getting to work in establishing a new settlement which became known as Fort Anastasia. The little fort with a port, as it became known as, consisted of a bunch of houses and storage depots along with a little soldiers' barracks. The flag of the Ixanian Empire blew in the cold wind while there was a little blizzard coming over the land with the children enthusiastic and the parents simply jovial. It turned out that the man with the mustache, a baron who worked in the government, was named the Viceroy of the unnamed colony and thus he began to work on a name for the land as he fondled his mustache while watching his wife build a snowman with his three children. He paced the ground with his hands in his pockets as he tried to think of a suitable name but none came to mind just yet. Eventually, he gave up and went to play with his children (OOC: I'll think of a name soon; don't worry everyone!)

Actually, I never formally claimed Gryphon. I just sent a landing team which is gone by now.

Likewise, he did land in an area that I claimed in another post(Northern Isabella), but never claimed it.

'Tis all well and dandy.

IC:

With th archipelago now thoroughly explored, the ships of the Armada returned to Ëvursar.

The capital and currently the sole Kiravian settlement in Seawind territory, had now been enclosed by concrete defencive walls. Within lay rows of modular homes, with an occasional construction site or larger building.

Governor MecTactin was pleased with the progress that had been made so far, and had just signed off on plans for a port, and approved the sale of some coastal areas to the Imperial Military. He didn't really have much choice. As a Territory, Seawind would have little in the way of self-governance.

The greatest challenge facing the new colony was the proper Kiravisation of the natives. After the bloody attack on the two botanists, the Empire had become quite serious about controlling the indigienous population. MecTactin was expecting a team from the Strategic Sociology Bureau to properly study and classify the natives, providing him some data from which to proceed. For now, the interior of the island remained as it had been before Kiravian arrival, except for the occasional tank or jeep convoy rumbling through.

Kiravisation, or rather, Cosconisation, was an important part of Imperial expansion. The Empire was culturally tolerant. It tried to preserve moribund languages and repopulate dying races. Its goal with populations in the lands it settled was to expose them to Coscivian writing, for their own languages, Cosco-Kiravian lifestyles, and republican government, adapted to their own traditions. If the native culture adapted well to this, as often happened, then they were regarded as being yet another Coscivian ethnic group out of thousands. Part of the culture, they became a part of the Empire.

Jason O’Reilly looked out of the window of the helicopter as he approached the rough settlement on the peninsula bellow. The site had been selected as the main base of operations for the Harris-Northstar Corporation in the Terra Australis Isabella islands, but had been yet to be named. He could clearly see the extent of the settlement – a main large building, a couple of hangars for storing equipment, a dozen or so prefabricated buildings and a mooring point, all lined up next to a large area marked out as a helipad. This was what he was now in charge of – a handful of buildings a few hundred men. However that would soon change. This settlement – actually he would need to come up with a name for it wouldn’t he – was intended as the staging point of all gas extraction operations in the region, and would become the nexus of the system of pipes carrying the gas to first storage facilities, and then too the dockyards which would export around the world.

That was all in the future however. There was much work to be done first. However it was already in process, as he saw from the rapid construction of a nearby Gas Rig. While far from finished they already seemed to have the basic structure up. It was then that he thought of a name for this place – Gasville.

Têrinsar, Seawind Territory, Kiravian Empire

A naval gunship guarded the entrance to the bay as civil vessels busied about within it, moving machinery and building materials.

Têrinsar [TEER-in-SÄR] was built on the Southeast coast of Insula Maréthir, commanding a strategic bay on the Vendrur Strait. A few houses, built from grey bricks, stood on shore, but the colonists' energies were focused on the port. Cranes held beams as workers moved pylons into place to construct piers, and loading cranes, for transferring cargo, were being assembled nearby.

With abundant rescources in the region, the Empire had wasted no time in approving the construction of a port on the strait. The city might, in the future, be home to fatories processing the regions minerals, or even drydocks repairing tankers.

Right now, only 2,000 people lived in Têrinsar, as aopposed to 3,000 temporary workers who were building the maritime facilities. But the settlement was expected to grow quickly.

Carda, Seawind Territory, Kiravian Empire

Carda was the first and only Kiravian settlement on Ísabela. It was a cluster of modular homes and trailers suroounded by a brick wall and inhabited by 400 or so indebted Scädev immigrants. The Empire had offered them land and financial assistance in return for helping settle the eastern portions of Seawind.

OOC: Ëverdsar is located just above the 'L' in the label on Insula Maréthir. Têrinsar is located at the head of the bay on the Southest of the island, and Carda is in a similar positon on the most southerly bay of the claim on Isabella.

Eight new settlements had sprung up on the Kiravian portion of Ísabela.

The largest, Saar-Ísabela, was built at the end of the bay north of Carda. It was a government-planned town, intended to act as a way station and depot for future Kiravian infrastructural and economic activities. The 750 settlers were busy clearing forest to build it.

The seven others: Iderna, Gáleca, Rentsar, Iþasca, New Baysar, Bronze, and Tärten, were smaller, peaking at 500 inhabitants in the case of Iderna and Iþasca. Most of them were like Carda: small villages of impoverished, ethnically homogeneous, semiskilled immigrants. They were there simply to secure the territory and control access to its rescources.

The Zapazec had faced walls before. Thier own cities had Stone walls, and those of The Taipa City States and the Kuklan Empire had stone walls also.

The Army was soon in sight of the paleface Village. it was soon to be a battle of great power. but to climb the walls, the Zapazecs had to build latters for climbing them.

South Eastern Bay
Savina Island
Settlement M-01

When the colonists had established a living space, they had picked the most protected part of the largest bay on the eastern side of the island. Being that the two ships, which still sat in the natural harbor, had been packed full of building, survey, and mining material along with as many people as could be drafted onto the expedition on such sort notice, they had begun a village that was reminiscent of what one could find on the rest of the Eastern Properties. The Governess would be proud if she could see their progress.

Survey teams had been making their ways all over the islands, searching for anything of value. So far, the resources they could get weren't what they wanted the most. Fortunately, they hadn't found oil, either -- no one had any desire to get involved with the thugs who ran oil companies these days.

Marco Ciaramitaro, still left leading the operation, sat outside on an unused crate, enjoying the sun.

"Marco!"

He looked over in the direction of the voice. "Hmm?"

"Team Six up north sends word. Their tests are done and we're sitting on platinum. Not sure how much, but it's there. Team Two also reports that there actually is some iridium in that crater."

Ah, finally, some of the platinum group metals that they were looking for. Platinum, naturally, was the kind of metal that could make you rich. Iridium, not as much if you didn't know what to do with it. That wasn't Marco's concern, though. He just had to send something back to the marchessa.

"Excellent!" he said, perking up in his seat. "Have some crews relocate to Six's position. Two's find can wait."

"Will do. Oh, and the water tank going to M-03 has a leak."

Marco sighed. That was two tanks now and along with the broken drills, dwindling food supplies, and lack of fuel, they needed the next shipment from the other Properties soon. "Giarellis are sending some support ships with the DESRON. We'll be fine." No use making his people worry more. "Ah, so how many others are here?"

"Kiravian and Uir claims to the north. Ryouese on the other side of mainland. Few others I don't really know."

Marco shrugged. "Ah well, guess there's not much left to snatch up."

"Most of the mainland still, actually, sir."

"Yeah, well, if Marquess wants the mainland, they can send another expedition."

The other man smiled. "Right. Anyway, I've gotta get going. They're breaking ground on M-07 across from six on the tips of the southern bay."

"Damn, already? You have really gotta keep me informed better. Alright, get going. I'll have one of the ships head back to pick up whatever Angela's willing to give us extra."

The Fort Anastasia Territories became Ixania's new colony according to a special decree which made the lands an official part of the Empire and which were to be governed according to the laws of the realm. The mustached viceroy christened the colony with its new name during a festival in Fort Anastasia which was attended by pretty much every single inhabitant. Everyone wore parkas and some children's hats had little bells which rang and tinged as they walked with their boots making imprints in the snow while the soldiers tried to keep warm in their heavy winter uniforms. The Viceroy stood at a makeshift podium with his hands waving all about as he spoke about the need to make the colony into a prosperous and peaceful one. Everyone cheered and had fun while more settlers began coming to the new colony from the Ixanian Empire. They didn't know about the developments with the Ryou and the Zapotec because they were not privy to government messages. More buildings were built in the colony including its first Orthodox church since the majority of colonies were Orthodox Christians although some Lutherans and other people of varied beliefs were steadily approaching their Orthodox brothers and sisters. Soldiers established garrison posts all over the colony and Fort Anastasia was declared the official capital with all administrative matters being handled within the confines of the settlement. The Viceroy's Palace was where he would live with his family while he worked at the Government House which was where meetings were held to discuss matters of state. Everything seemed to be going well for the newest colony in the fold.

While not a small room it felt crowded due to the sheer amount of stuff currently in it. That would change however. They had already expanded the base, which now had more than a thousand inhabitants, including those building the rigs. They had constructed more prefabricated housing, a mess hall and now where working on an administration building and the beginning of a pipeline. However it was still slow process and they still needed to build -

At that moment his thought process was interrupted by his deputy, Lucas Mitchell, bursting into the room. Before he could demand an explanation Lucas began speaking. "They've said yes sir."

"Who said yes Lucas?"
"The Government sir. It just came in over the Sat phone. Headquarters has managed to get them to send a naval group to back us up. All we have too do is pick a spot for them to set up a base. I've already found a little Island the other side of the main one."
"Is that all Lucas? I doubt it."
"Well HQ said that they would probably want to send over some colonists and so forth, but apparently they have no problem making you Colony Administrator."
"And next they'll be wanting cheap gas as well. Very well send a message of our appreciation and send a ship over to scout out the island. I have a pipeline to build."

Carda, Seawind Territory, Kiravian Empire

Ulmec Sändur, a Scädev settler, and administrator of Carda, strapped on a kevlar vest. Lookouts had alerted them of the approaching Zazapec forces, and the colonists were rushing to load their light artillery, obtain their personal weapons, and break out the fire extinguishers. Still others were ordered to load getaway motorboats with provisions in case of defeat.

The fire extinguishers were distributed amongst the men [A redundant term, the settlement was entirely male Scädev immigrants], in case the Zazapecs were to use flaming arrows. As experienced colonialists, the Kiravian government had also provided instructions for dealing with tropical poisons employed by natives of the world's equator when resisting Kiravian rule.

Lower Plantation, Seawind Territory

On Insula Maréthir, small plantation settlements were springing up outside Têrinsar and Ëverdsar, whose combined population was now about 20,000.

Some of the pacified native coastal villagers had been incorporated as contract labourers, paid of course, as Kiravians dissapproved of chattel slavery, and would be the first of their race to begin participating in Kiravic culture.

Lower Plantation was owned by a cooperative of immigrant farmers from Northeastern Kirav and the Vrytev provinces of Coscivia known as Brystcon. Brystcon, like many of the other plantation syndicates on the island, was indentured to the Royal Bank of Writcroft, a Kiravian banking firm.

In addition to native labourers, plantations on the island would begin to attract Kiravian arrivals, as well as a less-officially sanctioned class of Kiravians: Mixtev.

'Mixtev' was the Coscivian term equivalent to 'mulatto' or 'mestiço'. As the native came closer to the Kiravian settlers, their genes would no doubt begin to do the same.

OOC: I was hoping to claim Isla Isabella but I don't mind that it's claimed by someone else. Let's not make it an NS version of Rockall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockall).

The Fort Anastasia Territories began to blossom into a well managed colony that earned revenue for the colonial coffers by exporting goods back to Ixania for a good price. There wen't really any natives but if any were seen by Ixanian colonists, they would be respected and consulted whenever the need arose. The Viceroyal Government already consolidated its authority with the appointment of various ministers to newly founded departments while a representative was sent back to Ixania to represent the colony in meetings held by the Colonial Council which was a group of representatives from all the colonies who discussed matters of relations between themselves and with the Ixanian Empire. Viceroy Mardin Tavares, a baron whose family was very wealthy and influential back in Ixania, would manage the colony from the confines of his palace where he lived with his family and where he met with his associates. It was rumored that the Ixanians would seek to claim land on Isabella Island but it was unknown as to whether or not these rumors were truthful. The Viceroy never spoke on the issue except during his meetings with his associates. The Fort Anastasia Territories gained many more settlers as days passed with more settlements such as Port Leto being founded to handle the influx of settlers. The Colonial Militia eventually took control of all Ixanian Army soldiers stationed in the colony and was delegated to preserving Ixanian control.

Fort Anastasia experienced much growth, as well, with many more settlers coming to live in the new houses subsidized to prospective settlers who wished to make a new life for themselves while schools were being built to educate the children of settlers while banks were built as well as hospitals, stores and community centers. Money was also being printed with colonial symbols being put on the coins along with the head of the Empress which always appeared on coins anywhere you went that was under Ixanian control. The Viceroy's head never really appeared on anything except for television broadcasts from the first television stations built in the colony which mostly broadcasted programs imported from Ixania such as cartoons and talk shows. On some days, the stations would broadcast local news reports which were usually nothing more than reports about how the colony was growing or how a bunch of kids were experiencing the wonders of nature. Radio stations generally were like television stations in this regard as well as the newspapers printed in the settlements of the territories. A small parade was held in Fort Anastasia one night to celebrate the foundation of a so far prosperous colony which, it was hoped, would have many years of prosperity and peace. The first child, a girl named Sevestra, was born in the colony made headlines from a hospital in Fort Anastasia. Her family was given many benefits and Sevestra even appeared on stamps and on coins printed in her name although they still had the Empress' head on them. In the end, everything seemed to be going well.

Ëverdsar, Seawind Territory

30,000 Imperial soldiers of the 12th Legion, assisted by the 4th Kemeran Colonial Regiment and 8th New Harbour Militia, in all totaling 35,000 men, disembarked at the Seawindic capital city.

Along with their tanks, jeeps, and medium-grade artillery, they would begin penetrating the jungles, setting up military posts, and subjugating the native tribes. They would also begin the construction of roads and railways into the interior.

Most of the soldiers (with the exception of the Colonials), would be well-compensated for their work in Seawind Territory. They would be granted plots of land, as well as residential access to luxurious retirement communities, planned by the Empire and contracted out, that would doubly serve the Empire by filling land.

FOB Diamond
Gryphon Island

Diamond was the first of twelve planned FOBs to be established on Gryphon Island. So far the Tolvanic garrison consisted of 400 paras and 60 marines. In addition the cruiser Warspite was en route to provide naval support. TF Gryphon's engineers had been hard at work building a small air field, as well establishing defensive position on the high ground near the area chosen for FOB Diamond. Once the airfield was up and running the rest of TF Gryphon would be flown in to expand the security perimeter. Additional troops and equipment was assembling at Tolvanic bases for shipment to the island. In all a full brigade of infantry, a small wing of aircraft, and a couple warships were destined to be posted on the island once the construction was completed.

The Fort Anastasia Territories continued to blossom into prosperous colonies under the direction of the Viceroyal Government which had shown its indifference to Ryou's leap into isolationism since there were, in its words, far more important things to care about than what the world's most hated people, in the words of one commentator, were doing with their nation. The Fort Anastasia Territories soon developed a population of several thousands if not hundreds of thousands that resided in settlements such as Fort Anastasia which was named the official capital and the namesake of the colony itself; it was named in the Empress' honor although she didn't seem too happy with this "typical display of loyalty" that the colonists had done but yet she was entirely grateful and she showered them with much praise to their satisfaction. At a meeting of the Colonial Council, the representative of the Fort Anastasia Territories was welcomed with much honor and courtesy from his counterparts from the other colonies and every newspaper, television and radio station covered the news of his arrival. Posters urging people to settle the new colony began to appear all over Ixania and many people signed themselves and/or their families up in the hopes of a better life. The Viceroy enjoyed nearly one hundred percent of support with his shrewd style of politics based on rational thought rather than ideological purposes. One could say that many Ixanians were politically rational but many belonged to political clubs and societies with all sorts of ideologies that ranged from the obscure to the very well known in terms of popularity with the masses. The majority, though, of the Viceroy's Government was composed of your typical everyday patriots loyal to Crown and Nation. Tavares considered opening up the colony's ports to foreign ships to bolster trade but he did not know how the other colonial powers would react. He considered omitting the Ryou from the plan due to their isolationism and the possibility that an Ixanian ship wouldn't be welcomed. However, the Ryou were still on the records of his original plan. In a letter that was soon sent to the various colonial powers, the Viceroyal Government declared its intentions to establish trade. It did not, however, plan to support any military actions since all Ixanian colonies followed the Ixanian Empire's policies which included it being illegal for one colony to disobey orders from the capital to stay neutral and out of conflicts.

"Sirs and madams; esteemed leaders of the colonial powers in Terra Australis Isabella....

It has come to our attention that the colonies we all share have begun to grow into prosperous and peaceful colonies which, indeed, is what all of us probably have been seeking ever since we first began our ventures. It has come to our attention, as well, that there is support within our ranks for the establishment of trade pacts between us and yourselves. Therefore, the Fort Anastasia Territories is hereby open to trade with all other colonies and we bid you all our hopes that you will fully consider our offer of good will. We would also be interested in establishing economic networks and, if Her Majesty's Government were inclined, links between our mother nations. Our colony will be open from here on to your ships provided, of course, that they abide by regulations that we have established and that the crew are respectful to the inhabitants of the Territories. We await your replies with trepidation."

New Star's Lake was a seaside town of 4,700 people, contributing to the overall population of Seawind Territory: 82,000.

Kiravian forces had prevailed over the natives with minimal losses, after defeating the Teznetec tribe at the city of Chipocoatl.

With this victory, the island was now safe for settlement, and the troops were scheduled to be shipped off to Ísabela to secure the west of the colony.

Coacan, Seawind Territory

Coacan was a small village in central Seawind Territory. It was close to a military post, and home to 400 natives who laboured on nearby plantations.

The wealth Kiravian landowners, known as Coscada, lived in expansive manors on their properties. Their indigienous labourers, however, lived in the same homes in which they had dwelt for centuries.

Têrinsar, Seawind Territory

Têrinsar's port was now quite busy for a town of its size, in a country of Seawind's economic level. Ships arrived every day, at least one, to pick up timber, cocoa, or fruits, and deliver shipments of building materials, food, and luxury goods. Ixanian ships were expected to begin arriving as well.

Mardin Tavares had decided that he would sail to the capital of the Kiravian colony rather than rely upon aerial transportation which he usually had used to get around within the confines of his own nation's colony in this strange new chain of islands that were getting plenty of attention in the news back in Ixania. He was sailing on a battleship which had radioed the Kiravians with news of Mardin's choice in transportation so as to avoid problems that could arise from the sighting of a massive battleship heading towards them. His capable wife had been left back in Fort Anastasia under the care of the confident politicians left to keep everything in check as the Viceroy made his way to his meeting in Ëverdsar which would be his first political venture outside the Fort Anastasia Territories. The battleship eventually docked at the nearest port and Mardin stepped out with his security guards; he felt very glad to be finally on Kiravian soil. All that was needed now, he thought, was to be welcomed by his hosts.

Lämtsar

The third and final expansion of the Empire in Terra Isabella had begun.

Seawind Territory was, after all, tropical. One could not expect too many settlers to arrive, though the colony had already exceeded expectations in concern to immigration.

What the Empire wanted most was temperate land to populate with Cosciv Kiravians, who did not tolerate the tropics as well as most other races.

As such, the Empire had placed 15,000 settlers (Drawn from Coscivian immigrants, debtors, rehabilitated convicts from more left-wing provinces, and squatters recruited from parks in Southern Kirav), as well as 1,000 Imperial auxilliaries, in Regency Bay [The bay north of Kenavt's claim]. They named their settlement Lämtsar.

New Star's Lake, Seawind Territory

New Star's Lake was to host the first full-service airport in Seawind. It was far from complete, and the land had just been cleared. But it was hoped that the airport could become a hub for flights throughout Terra Isabella.

Gasville
Jason O’Reilly looked at the map. It was not a good one. While the territory currently under his control was generous it had one minor flaw – it was vulnerable. Santheres held large areas of land to his direct East, and bordered the oil field he had been ordered to develop and protect. Something had to be done. While he had overseen the development of the area – Gasville now had a population of eight thousand and there where a dozen semi finished rigs built, and three times that many planned. Hell he’d even got the pipeline almost finished and within a week or so he could begin extracting gas.

But he was not secure. As long as another power had territory bordering his own, then he could not call the Gas field safe. And he knew it. Unfortunately so did Headquarters. They’d been at him for a month now – When are you going to deal with Santheres? Why haven’t you dealt with Santheres? Are you ever going to deal with Santheres? Well hopefully developments on the other side of the Islands would now mean the answer could be soon.

Ilsa Isabella Naval Base
Lucas Mitchell watched as the ships lowly pulled into the bay. Too be honest it really wasn’t a naval base yet – just a collection of mooring posts and rough buildings, and one small airstrip. But it was enough for now. And the arrivals would soon change everything. He smiled as the Carrier BCS Dakara – named for the old capital – slowly stopped, as around it other ships began docking as well. They now had everything they needed.

-Newly settled Island- (Still being debated on names)
The island claim carried out like clockwork, the bombers made an instant claim by dropping several Flags by parachute stacking the land as territory of The Lone Alliance. Within a few days the ships arrived while the other nations were reconsolating their lands. The extra troops had come in handy for clearing a way into the island, which was heavily forested and hilly as well. But eventually they cleared enough space to plant several premade buildings and a simple wall for protection.

At sea several ships kept guard from any possible enemies, while on the land explorers searched for any useful mining or planting locations, and soldiers scouted out for defensive positions.

The operation was so sucessful that the TLA government sent out another order.
Seize the unclaimed islands to the southeast as soon as possible.

Tacoda, Colony of Austris Ísabela, Kiravian Empire

Tacoda, a Kiravian village built on the ruins of a tribal hill-fort, was the easternmost settlement in Austris Ísabela. Austris Ísabela, unlike Seawind Territory, was a Colonia, or colony, under Imperial law, rather than a Territa, or territory. This meant that it would have more domestic autonomy, at a level similar to that of an American state. Ísabela would be responsible for its own education, healthcare, transportation, indigienous peoples, and land jurisdiction, and be able to operate its own militia.

65,000 people lived in Austris Ísabela (Or, in English, South Isabella). It still lagged behind Seawind Territory's 82,000 settlers and 15,000 Kiravised natives, but was expected to overtake Seawind in population very soon.

Ëverdar, Seawind Territory

Small booklets were circulating about the city. They contained the results of the first Territorial Census.

According to the results, generated by the Imperial Census's Provincial Unit, Seawind Territory:

-Was home to 148,230 people

-82,452 Coscadav, or settlers
-15,120 Kiravised natives
-1,300 Mixtev, or mestiços
-50,768 Natives

Of the settlers, the largest ethnic groups were Eórlev, Englev, Ieurlev, Javaedan Anglev, Saskev, Ceyunan, and Teränrisev.

The religious breakdown of the settler population was 46% Christian, 32% Coscivian Theist (Including Endavist and other beliefs), 8% Coscivian Mystic, 4% unaffiliated believer, and 10% other.

50% of Seawindic provincials are urban-dwellers, and 50% are rural or semi-rural.
