Rutianan visit (closed; attn: Rutianas, Neo-Ixania)
With the visit to Falkasia completed, it was on to the next nation on the list, which was Rutianas.
Like the other two nations involved on this trip to date, this trip would open the first official relations that Lamoni had ever had with Rutianas; and it looked to be an interesting prospect.
After obtaining flight instructions from Rutianan ground controllers, LAF 1 eventually landed at the assigned airfield.
With the aircraft's door having been opened, it was time to see what sort of reception that the Lamonians would get here in Rutianas.

There's few people to greet the Lamonians. No throng of flashing cameras, though there are a couple of representatives from the media there.
Most of who are there are in full military dress, clearly members of the elite. They're lined up in two rows facing each other and staring straight ahead.
At the far end of this line stands a man, also in full military dress. The one thing that's different between him and the rest is the number of decorations on his uniform. Well, and he looks fairly uncomfortable in it. He keeps fidgeting with his gloves, even as he notices the aircraft land and the doors open.
Several cars have also been parked nearby.
President Stinson walked out of the aircraft, and towards the man with the greater number of decorations. "I am President Stinson of Lamoni, and this is my wife, Adelaide, the First Lady. Are you here to welcome us to Rutianas?"
OOC: I won't have internet access this weekend.

"Yes." The man clasps his hands behind his back, probably so he won't fidget anymore. "I'm Shein Darson, Emperor of Rutianas. I figured it would be more appropriate to be here myself, rather than send someone else." He glances back and forth between the President and First Lady. Clearly, he's not overly experienced with this kind of meeting.

Adelaide smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty....my name is Adelaide Stinson, the First Lady of Lamoni, and I am honored to be meeting you and glad to be here in Rutianas. I look forward to seeing more of your nation and I am sure my husband does too."

Shein bows slightly toward Adelaide. "And it is a pleasure to meet you, both of you, and to have you here in my country. I would have brought my family, however, my daughter hasn't felt well recently and my companion didn't wish to leave her."
"Well, i'm sorry to hear about your daughter, Your Excellency. I hope that she gets better soon. Do you have any plans for our time in your nation, Your Excellency?"
Stinson had taken the intervening time to get more looks in of whatever he could see in Rutianas. He couldn't see much from where he was, but he was naturally curious, so he looked anyway.

Shein looked toward the President when he spoke. "Thank you. I'm sure she'll be back to her inquisitive self soon. I do hope she's well enough to meet you, but I warn you, she's got the kind of charm that wraps people around her fingers. As for plans, my Foreign minister had a list of things to do, but he put too much on it in my opinion. I have the list with me. I figured you'd want to look at it and decide for yourselves what piques your interest. I would recommend seeing a few things here in Rutia, then visiting the countryside. Many of our art museums are quite lovely, though we've had the first snow of the season in the Panor province. Great area for skiing, if you enjoy it. And, please, I prefer to be called Shein. I may be the Emperor, but I'm truly just one of my people. No better, no worse."
After a moment, he adds, almost as an afterthought. "Is there anything in particular that the two of you enjoy? I'm sure we could accommodate just about anything here."
"Why don't we look at the list that your Foreign Minister made, and then we can see what else there is to do, Shein? I'm sure that we will be able to find something to enjoy in Rutianas. Is there something that you personally like to do with your spare time?"
This was shaping up to be a generally different diplomatic visit than most often happened. Not that that was bad, but it would take a little time to adjust to a fellow world leader who acted just like any other man. President Stinson thought that he could grow to like this man, like he could go to some bar with him, and lift a drink or two.

"Hmm. Personally, I don't have much free time anymore. Not with a five year old, but before Shanika was born, I did enjoy snowboarding and skiing."
Shein either slept through the diplomacy class, or he just forgot it all. He turns to one of the military guards nearby and is handed a folder. He doesn't even react to the guard other than that simple glance. The folder gets handed off to President Stinson.
It's the list and it's two pages long. Mundane things like art and science museums litter the list, but one cultural item does stand out. An opera in Rutian, the native language, is on there. Other than those cultural items, the rest of the list is visiting parliament and several military compounds.
"I personally would like to see the Opera, as well as at least one of the art and science museums, Shein. I think that I would also like to visit Parliament, and one or two of the military compounds. What do you think, Addy?"
OOC: Addy is a pet name for Stinson's wife, Adelaide
IC: "Ever since LAIX Arms started running, i've taken an interest in military designs, Shein. LAIX Arms is the joint military storefront for Lamoni and Neo-Ixania. If you wish, you can see their production facilities if you are ever in Lamoni. Should we head to your Parliament first, Shein?

Shein nods once, then motions to a car nearby.
"Of course. Parliament awaits. There's only a few there now since there's nothing being debated at the moment but you'll be able to get an idea of how things work there. As for military designs, the majority of ours are controlled by psionics and often only tied into a single individual. In other words, if you were to attempt to fly one of our jets, it would refuse to work for you. No one but me can fly mine. No one but Arren can fly his."
At the mention of the other name, one of the officers nearby nods his head toward the President and First Lady. He remains silent as Shein speaks again.
"Same goes for our weaponry. It's tied to the person it's assigned to. I can't fire Arren's gun any more than he could fire mine."
OOC: Sorry, been busy lately. I hadn't forgotten about this thread.
OOC: I've been busy with a new job, as well, so I know how you feel. I'll do an IC post later, as it's early in the morning here.
