Following poor combat performances both in live action and in exercises, the Naashan MOD has taken the decision to retire the AIM-54 from active service with its airforce and navy. In addition to a number of domestic bidders, the MOD has decided to allow foreign companies to propose their own designs to meet specifications for a modern, high performance and long range air to air missile, to be designated the ALRAAM.

Desired criteria for initial proposals are listed below:

Maximum range exceeding 150km.
No escape zone of at least 60km vs. average conventional fighters.
Must be compatible with F-36 Gladius (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12169974&postcount=97), F-40 Bird of Prey (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12078638&postcount=76) and F-46 Razor (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=12133336&postcount=89) aircraft currently in service with the Naashan Navy and Air Force.
Must be radar guided, with home-on-jam (HOJ) and anti-radiation targeting modes.
Must achieve a demonstratably high performance in a high countermeasures environment, including resistance to electronic warfare systems.

OOC: I can develop one, but it will take a little time. Maybe 2-3 days at most... or as soon as I can work on it.

OOC: Thanks for the replies, all. I'm interested in seeing what you can come up with, Falkasia. As for the Aequeation missile, I'm not sure how something marginally heavier, marginally wider and marginally longer than the AIM-54, also using solid propellant, can travel over three times as far. Therefore, to stay to the boundaries of 'realism' MT, I'm going to give it a miss.

OOC: Glad you're interested. I'll start work immediately. Oh, and it's Falkasia, not Talkasia. Nice name for a country though, lol.

OOC: Gah, either it was a typo or I'm getting ignorant. The missile looks lovely, almost exactly the sort of thing I had in mind. Would you like to make an IC 'bid' post or shall I just confirm your missile as a contender?

You can confirm it as a contender.
