The Standard Combat Rifle was developed four years ago by Northstar for the Belschaft army. Featuring 34 round magazine and three firing modes the rifle has become the standard weapon of the Belschaft military. It is compatible with both a scope and grenade launcher, though neither comes as standard. The gun’s magazine contains 36 5.56x45mm NATO rounds, and fires at a rate of 800 rounds a minute.

Two year ago the Belschaft Navy requested a smaller version of the SCR for use aboard ships, where the confined spaces made the rifle unwieldy. Northstar responded with the SCR-V1.6, which is somewhat shorter and lighter. However this came at the expense of maximum range and accuracy. The price remains almost exactly the same however, as while the materials used are slightly more expensive there are less of them needed. The SCR-V.16 has since become popular with special operations as it is more convenient to use than the larger V1.4.

How many do you want? because that's ten million guns, wich is way more than you need, or can afford.

OOC: I apologize for hijacking the thread temporarily, but there's a forum dedicated to technological design on NationStates, called the NS Draftroom (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom). There are a few players who focus on small arms, and you might be interested in getting their opinion, or even giving your opinion on their designs. Besides, it centers all out of character commentary on the rifle on that forum, so the thread on NationStates stays clean. If you're interested, please register!

OOC- Thanks. I've had a look a couple of times, but haven't posted as I've allways been intimidated by their extensive knowledge. I might put this up.

The main question is how does your mechaism, particualrly the feed/extraction actions work?

My main concern is that even using soemthing as compact and complicated as a Korobov TKB-022 based action you are going to need a good 4-5 inchs of gun over the length of the barrel (basically twice the overall length of the round used plus a bit of wiggle room). Taking the barrel length down to 25" certainly wouldn't hurt the rifle at all, 600m from a heavy 25" barrel is doable with 5.56mm.

Weight could also be an issue sondiering the weight of barrel needed to make a 25"ish barrel elngth workable, I would tend to stick on an extra 0.5 to 1kg.

other than that it looks great.
