Andrei Vasilev, now the most powerful man in the Republic. The former ruler had resigned just a week before. He had begun life as a simple farmer's son on a small 45 acre dairy farm, but he was never satisfied, he always wanted more. His talents were soon realized, and at 18 he took a government position, mayor of his small village. He had slowly crawled to the top, fighting corruption and lies. He was the youngest person ever to hold "Supreme Ruler Of The Republic Of Bull Hornia" at just 49 years old, but of course that would not be enough. He had gathered the finest military planners in The Republic to plan the invasion of Poland, then next would be Germany, then France, Belgium, and so on...

The plan was to launch the 1st and 2nd Infantry Corps as well as the 1st Cavalry Corp at Brest, they would then follow E30 and cut Poland in to two halves, recent intelligence had indicated that Layarteb would give assistance. This would have to be verified though. But verification would not be hard, Bull Hornian control of Poland would almost guarantee a free pass for the Layartebian Navy to access nearby waters. Next would come the troop movements. Little by little troops would be moved into the area, and if anyone would get suspicions, they would claim it was wargames.

Months prior, the Empire had secretly agreed to assist the Bull Hornian nation and people with an invasion of Poland. Assistance would be limited of course but even limited assistance from the Empire was more firepower than most nations could bear. However, it came at a price. The Empire would secretly reclaim an airfield in southern Poland, near the town of Piastow, just 110 miles from the border of Ukraine, which was controlled by the Council State of Nerotika, a sworn enemy of the Empire. The Piastow base had been constructed in the early 1980s with the help of the Empire for the Fourth Reich and it had, from time to time, played host to Layartebian fighters. It had a runway capable of handing heavy bombers and large cargo aircraft, although the base would hold only fighters and a small reconnaissance contingent. In addition, while discussing the need for Layartebian assistance months prior, the Empire had warned about any moves further to the west. An invasion of Germany or France would instantly find the Bull Hornian nation in trouble with the Empire, which had now formed close relations with the Gatawain Republic, thanks largely in part to their agreement to allow Layartebian bases to remain in both France and Germany. In addition, any move against the BENELUX territories held by the Cottish would instantly find the Bull Hornian nation at war with the Empire. Careful treading had to be done. In addition, should the Bull Hornians wish to move north, into the Baltics and Kaliningrad, the Empire would not be opposed but neither would it be willing to help, especially with Kaliningrad, a nation whose history included the Empire for three, long, brutal years.

So, as it would seem, this limited operation began with the Bull Hornians. A Layartebian carrier strike group was in the Baltic Sea at the time, moved there from its base in Hammerfest, Norway. The fifteen ships of the 1st CVSG included, four destroyers, one cruiser, three frigates, a helicopter carrier, a battle cruiser, one attack submarine, three support ships, and a light aircraft carrier, the center of the group. Equipped with a massive array of weapons, the 1st CVSG also brought with it eighty-three fixed and rotary wing aircraft, including eighteen F-35B Raven V/STOVL fighters. Trudging through the waves in the Baltic Sea, the 1st CVSG would be on hand to witness the first shots of the war against the communist/socialist state of Kullikovia.

All entries with the asterisk (*) are top secret IC meaning that specifications on them are not public, performance is not public, their existence is not public, and knowledge of their existence may be deduced only to rumors and grainy photography taken by a lucky UFO nutso who may have gotten close enough to a secret airbase to actually get a shot off.

Official Statement
The Realm of Cotland do hereby condemn the aggressive actions undertaken by the Bull Hornian Military against the already fragile stability of Western Europe. While the Realm is no great friend of the current occupiers of Poland, it does not believe that the change from socialist occupation to Bull Hornian occupation will benefit the Poles, and therefore demand that all aggressive actions against Poland be ceased immediately, lest it will have very negative consequences for Bull Hornia.

Until the stand-down and cessation of aggression on the behalf of the Bull Hornians have been completed, the Realm decree that no Bull Hornian-flagged shipping nor aircraft of neither civilian nor military nature shall be allowed passage through Cottish territorial waters or airspace. All Bull Hornian-flagged vessels and aircraft currently within the borders of Cotland shall be interred indefinately.

We warn the Bull Hornian nation that should it attempt to defy this decree, the defaulting vessel or aircraft shall be destroyed by the Realm's Defence Forces and any survivors interred.

Additionally, all visas issued to Bull Hornian nationals are postponed indefinately, and all Bull Hornian assets in Cotland are hereby frozen until such a time that Bull Hornia has realized its mistake and made the appropriate efforts to correct it. Any Bull Hornian citizen currently in Cotland shall be interred deported from the Realm back to their country of origin.

Direct Statement to the Realm of Cotland

The State has no idea where your information comes from, we current have no occupation forces within poland. We do, however, fully recognize Poland's autonomy and will support them against any invaders. If the BHR state wishes to force themselves upon the fragile polish nation we will have no choice but to commit support troops to their endevour as we fear any aggression might destabilize the peace we have acheived in our Ukrainian Province. If the Realm wishs to aid the polish state then we extend a hand of peace and friendship toward them, our past must be put asside for the sake of the polish people's freedom.

When the Cottish issued their declaration against the possibility of Bull Hornian involvement in the affairs of Poland, it instantly put the Empire in a difficult situation. Their assets already in place and their pledge solid, the Empire would help the Bull Hornians annex Poland, regardless of the Cottish desires. The biggest threat would come when the Layartebians wished to leave the Baltic Sea. They would have to pass through waters controlled on both sides by the Cottish. Dissent would obviously be expressed by the Cottish and the relations of the two great powers would take a definite hit. The Empire was not about to let the Cottish decide how they would act though. There were bigger things at stake here than just the Cottish and the Bull Hornians and if the Empire were to call off its pledge to help because of the Cottish disapproval, it would immediately render the Empire a weak nation and threaten the October Alliance as a whole. It was something that simply could not be afforded.

The tanks were in position, they had been breifed but if asked they were to say they were on operations to prevent riots from forming, and the alibi would work perfectly because the emperor's popularity was decreasing exponentially, it was not clear to the troops why they were going to invade Poland. But orders are orders and they must be followed, otherwise there is consequences.

The first two cavalry divisions were to cross the border at 1:31AM, travel as far as they could east, and set up supply routes. Then the next two divisions would expand the frontline north and south. Then fighter aircraft would be launched to obtain air supremacy, after that is achieved, bomber aircraft would bomb key targets such as political buildings and military bases.It all seemed within arms reach now, excecution would be the next challenge.
