The Ares III was first introduced on the international market in 2007 by Integrated Weaponry of Goldaron and marketed as one of the best 21st century battlefield weapons. The weapon has spread quickly to nations around the globe and has seen use in dozens of conflicts where users have praised the weapon and rated it satisfactory or better in all areas. Originally only chambered for 5.56 NATO the popularity of the weapon has lead to the rifle being rechambered in 6.5 Grendal, 6.5 Frangible, and 7.62 NATO. Since Integrated’s merger into STW Inc. the weapon has been constantly tested in an attempt to improve the overall design and quality of the weapon and to add even more features.
Design History
The Ares and Ares II assault rifles were derived from the Steyr AUG modular rifle; these ‘simplified’ versions were similar in form and function to their ancestor with the exception of a larger magazine and no modular parts. The Ares was designed to function as an assault weapon and nothing more.
The Ares III came about after a total overhaul for the weapon to make an affordable but lethal weapon to be carried into battle by the modernizing forces of the branches Goldaron’s armed forces, the biggest change was from a compact but powerful bull pup configuration to a standard design that increased the overall size of the weapon but made for a rifle that was easier to reload in a firefight and maintain in downtime. The second biggest change was to the materials used; the outer case is constructed of molded fiberglass parts that slide and lock together to make the weapon easier to disassemble and reassemble for repairs and cleaning. Molded fiberglass is a combination of two common materials; fiberglass, and thermoplastics; this material is slightly heavier but far sturdier than thermoplastics as it has a higher tolerance for heat, pressure, and stress. The barrel and firing mechanism are of cold hammered steel, another highly durable material that needs no description. The engineers kept the 8 lug rotating bolt firing system. Finally the Ares III was fitted with an attachment rail, a feature noticeably missing from the Ares and Ares II, giving it versatility.
The Ares III launched only a year ago has in the meantime gone over several more changes as STW Inc. has attempted to expand the market by making the weapon ‘as user friendly and lethal as possible’ so that it can find a role in as many militaries as there are nations. The two most notable features are the removable attachment rail feature commonly found on many weapons, and the ambidextrous firing quality that is surprisingly absent from a large number of weapons. Another change to the weapon that was eventually removed was the addition of a safety trigger on the back of the pistol grip that must be depressed for the weapon to fire, this feature was removed from production weapons as it was judged impractical but the blueprints are available for production under license.

Ares III (Updated)
This is the standard configuration Ares III now being seen in Goldaron, Tigerlain, and Spectare and should soon be spreading to other nations. This version features the new removable attachment rail and the ambidextrous firing switch, pressing the yellow button and chambering/ejecting a round by manually pushing the slider forward and pulling it back will change the position of the ejection port’s opening making the process fast, simple, and painless. This version of the Ares III still keeps the venting system that forces gasses from firing out the top of the weapon to create downward force.
Features
Removable attachment rail
Gas venting recoil compensator
Ambidextrous firing
Adjustable rear sites
Safety plus three firing modes: Semi, Burst, and Sustained Automatic
Contoured grip at the front of the stalk for easy control

Ares III GL
The Ares III GL is an excellent fire support weapon that includes a built in grenade launcher that can be readied to fire simply by flipping the fire selector switch, while this would ordinarily increase the overall mass the recoil compensation was removed as this rifle has no sustained automatic firing mode to make room for the launcher and reduce mass. The launcher has a pistol grip built in to make the weapon easier to control and can be reloaded in the same manner as the M-203, in terms of performance these weapons are about the same.

Removable attachment rail
Ambidextrous firing
Adjustable rear sites
Safety plus three firing modes: Semi, Burst, and Grenade Launcher
Secondary pistol grip for easy control
Flip up grenade sites

Ares Elite II
Designed as the substitute for the unpopular Ares K7 this low mass weapon is also designed for SPEC OPS units but follows a more traditional scheme. This weapon is based off the Ares III and though around ¾ of its size and mass, has the same barrel length so it is not a true carbine but more of a micro rifle. Slightly larger and heavier than most submachine guns the Elite II is an excellent weapon in the kind of close quarters fighting found in urban and jungle environments and versatile enough to be used almost anywhere. The Elite II features a retractable stock that can increase the weapon length to nearly that of the Ares III, which can also be removed, and it is compatible with suppressors. The Ares Elite II uses a lever delayed blowback system in place of the rotating bolt, in terms of performance it is very similar to the Ares III.
Features
Multiple attachment rails located on the top, bottom, and both sides
Ambidextrous firing
Adjustable rear sites
Safety plus two firing modes: Semi, and Sustained Automatic
Collapsible/extendable/removable butt stalk
