OOC: Alright, here's my second go at a Heroes-based thread. A certain someone didn't like the idea of my thread not being more NS-based despite the fact that there are a dozen or so similar non-NS based rps out there but for some reason mine was locked. Anyways, here's a more NS-sensitive thread.

Around the globe, ordinary people are discovering extraordinary abilities within themselves. As our world changes, so do the people that inhabit it. It is a natural occurance. That every organism adapts and overcomes whatever may stand in its' way of continuing to exist. A natutal defense mechanism that resides in our very DNA. There is so much about the human mind that we don't understand. Despite our best efforts, we continue to look in the mirror and ask ourselves countless questions about ourselves, our existence, and our purpose. The possibilities are truly boundless and unknown. For years, researchers attempted to unlock our minds and discover those very secrets that evolution was so reluctant to give up...until now.

Basically this rp takes place after the end of season two of the show, Heroes. I'm a big fan of the series and its' intriguing plot, characters, and twists. The possibilities are endless for this rp. Each character will have their own story arc which will fall under a general, interweaving arc having to do with an ex-member of The Company, an individual with a deadly agenda that could have global implications. The rest of the story involves normal people around the world discovering their abilities, coping with them, and deciding what to do with them.

You can be anything ranging from an individual with emerging gifts, to a member of the Company, to anything in between. You choose. It's better that you try to keep your character as some normal person as in them not being Special forces commandos that have a blackbelt in every known martial arts ontop of their special abilities.

Brief Bio: Is a graduate of film school who is currently working for a production company in NYC as a writer/amateur director. He comes from Jonensberg, Kulikovia where most of his family still lives. He is a rather intelligent man but not overly so. From an early age he developed terrible headaches which later developed into migranes. He is currently dating a med student by the name of Anya Gregov.
Abilities: Telekenisis

Name: Karl Thorn

Height: 6'2"

Hair: Short, Black
Eyes: Blue
Brief Bio: Karl is a Belschaftian of German oragin. His Grandfather served in the SS but his family fled East Germany in the aftermath of WWII. He shares some of his ancestors beliefs in racial purity, but now with the emegence of humans with powers it has expanded to include the entire human race. He enrolled in the Marines at 19, and served for fifteen years before receiving an honerable discharge. He then was recruited by the company, as a man who could be relied on to 'clean up' after a botched job.
Abilities: None, as he's a geneticly normal human. He is however a profesional soldier.

Brief Bio: Born almost 200 years ago to a Ralkovian family with many ties to the government, he became a Stymsta Wa Agent(Secret Police) before discovering his powers. He was thought of to be a freak or a wizard and ran away after he was declared a danger to Ralkovia almost 200 years ago. He joined the underground and has been plotting against the governments of the world ever since. He has the ability to shapeshift into any person or animal. He also has the ability to copy knowledge and memory of people he physically touches so that he knows everything they know. His third power which he barely ever uses is power mimic, by touching someone with powers his body is able to repeat the same thing only for a few minutes though. He is a genius from the knowledge he has gathered, he also never ages because he shapeshifts his body to a younger age. He always wears a mask when he is in his original form, he can change his figure completely including gender, skin color, weight, height, clothing, etc. but it is limited to within his mass

Abilities: Shapeshift, Memory Mimic, and power mimic

(His limits, because I know someone is going to say thats not fair he can change himself into a giant or something, he can only change himself into similar sized animals or people as long as it isn't more than 12 feet larger or 6 feet smaller than his original size or 600lb more or 150lb less than his original weight, so he can't change himself into an elephant or a giant but he can change himself into an infant or a tiger, etc. His power mimic lasts only a few minutes and he has very small amount of control over it)

Brief Bio: Adam Hastings history is clouded in mystery. What is clear is that he once worked for as company known as Primatech Paper in one of their company buildings in New Orleans. Current employee records show him as no longer recieving a paycheck or benefits.

OOC: Read this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=528525), and maybe you will have a better understanding of why your thread was locked. Specifically, "...but the idea is you play the roles of your nations, whatever they end up being, not those of arbitrary real-life nations in alternate-history situations." While yours was not an alternate history RP, it didn't involve your NS nations at all, which would seem to pose a bit of a problem.

I said my character was from Kulikovia, that should be fine.

OOC: I am not reprimanding you, nor am I voicing any complaints about this thread. I am just trying to help you understand why the last thread was locked so that there aren't any bad feelings about it. There is some rather unhappy OOC commentary at the top of the OP about what happened, so obviously there are lingering concerns about what happened, which I was hoping could be resolved through better understanding of the posted rules and the intent of the board.

I don't have any bad feelings towards you. I just wanted to do a thread based off the show. I'm almost to the point of forgetting about it, but I'm going to keep at it.

Brief Bio:
Bars had originally been a member of Odon Pete’s “Black Guard” secret police unit and a sharpshooter. Then as the rebellion gained power he defected and began to use his expert shooting skills to help kill the people he had once worked with. Unfortunately, his powers developed and the rebel group he was with labeled him a freak. He escaped the country and has been moving around ever since.

Abilities: Temporary invisibility (can’t move much, combat of any kind breaks it) and mimicking.

I apologize for cluttering your thread a bit with this mostly unrelated chatter, but it is the OOC thread, so I hope there's no harm done. In any case, now that everyone has a good understanding of what happened and has put what happened in the past behind them, keep RPing! There seem to be a number of interested and eager RPers.

Brief Bio: Born in Ol'vi, South Alfegos, Ki'lan was diagnosed from the age of three to be a member of the Fegosian Genetic race, characterised most strikingly by his eyes, but also evident in his suffering of the "Rage" and weakened immune system. Not letting this get in his way, he made excellent progress in his school, continuing on with school to study for pilot training, having been accepted into a place at the Er'soi National Space Centre. He has yet to let on about the truth behind certain instances when pressed into a tight corner.
Abilities: Temperature manipulation

Brief Bio: An expert in the field of parkour, or "FreeRunning", Matt was born in Pelagious, Ustio North. He attended University untill the age of 21, when he promptly quit and attempted to enter the acting business using his impressive skills as a freerunner. It didn't go well - he missed out in a major film about a spy chasing a member of a terrorist network. Since the acting fell through, he has been working in Hydria as a courier, putting his parkour skills to good use.He is aware of his abilities and knows how to control them, but tries to keep them to himself.

Brief Bio: Alecto was born in the mining town of Branson in the southwest of Catawaba. Her family has lived around and worked in the rich nickle and iron mines in the area continuously since Togovian colonization in the mid-Seventeenth Century. Her family has ever been the stereotypical mining family poor but proud, tied and bound to the mines their forebearers toiled and died in.

However unlike her mother and maternal forebearers, Alecto didn't keep house while her man went to the mines. She broke tradition and went into the mine herself. She endured the breaking labor, the biting criticism, and scorn. Against it all she shone in the darkness. She worked in blasting crews drilling holes for explosive charges. She frequently corrected hole placements because it looked wrong. When her instincts were followed, the explosives did exactly what they were supposed to do or better. When Alecto was ignored and forced to drill as ordered, blasts were mediocre or dangerous. She gained the nickname "Shaft Pyschic" but also respect for her eye or woman's intuition or something in her mining family blood. Whatever it was, her fellow miners and her superiors began to listen to her, and eventually her employer her and her work crew were moved to over to their beskar mines, which was infamously tough to mine because of beskar's near epic hardness and near indestructability.

The slights and insults directed at her dried up as she earned her fellow miners respects from her work but also from holding her own in bars after her shift. She got a reputation as a spitfire after she laid out more than a few miners that wanted to get fresh with her most of those were with only a couple of blows.

When the Catawaban Revolution burned into its fullest and her uncle, the famous Armourer of Andywight, and his family were killed during the Night of Angels, Alecto left the mines and joined the rebels on the tailend of their campaign to liberate the island. She stayed in military service after the Revolution ended and enlisted in the Catawaban Marines, choosing combat engineer as her MOS.

After a fulfilling her term of service, she transferred to the Marine Reserves and returned to the mines. Now however, she was hired on as a mining engineer.

Abilities: Unconscious ability to sense weakpoints, at the moment only phsyical weakpoints.

By the way, I didn't know this untill last night when I watched Season 2's bonus DVD, but Nathan Petrelli was originally meant to be killed at the press conference by the virus, not an assassin - it was changed only slightly to the assassin ending because of the Writers Strike. The unused footage was pretty cool.

This seems to have been forgotten about.

No, it exists on the fine border line of the new precedent about non-NS RPs. We hung a lampshade on this to nudge it past the rule...but it's all too close.

If you wanted to do something Heroes/superheroes-ish, it'd be better to make something inspired, even if you borrow heavily but make somethign totally yours and set and concerning your NS nation.

Brief Bio: Not much is known about Mike Grady, also known as Torch, only that he seemed to have discovered his abilities sometime around his 16th birthday, as he disappeared on the day after his birthday, reappearing four years later in Las Vegas, Nevada as a high roller, gambling in casinos all over the city. He has been suspected in over 400 cases of arson over the past four years. It is believed he has been hired by The Company as a wet works man.
Abilities: Pyrokinesis, Psychokinesis.
