Avory Irons the Supreme Commander and unquestioned leader of the Militarian Republic of Atleus was sitting in the Presidential Palace.

"Supreme Commander Irons. The Latest report is in" said an aide handing Avory a sheet of paper

"The Isolationist policy needs to reform in some way to catch the offenders" said the aide

"Wait... ket me read over it" said Avory

1 person has managed to defect
10 people have been caught trying to defect
3 families have been in possesion of foriegn currency
5 banned writtings have made thier way into the country
2 families have been caught listening to foriegn broadcasts
12 people have been arrested for speaking a foriegn word or phrase
19 people have left thier towns without a permit

"Well for a country of over 34 Million i'd say we are doing pretty well.... But you are right we do need to get harsher!" said Avory

He continued on

"We shall put into effect a great program to rid ourselves of ALL outside influences! this country must be the purest land in the world"

Avory was standing on the Balcony of the Parlaiment building also known as the (National Command)

Assembled on the square bellow were thousands of soldiers in uniform and then past the soldiers were the civilians all wearing thier approved clothes

"My fellow Patriots! The outside world seems determined to poison our minds with foriegn material meant to incite instability! This is an ATLEUS ONLY COUNTRY and we will not allow anything! We call upon all citizens to rise up! rise up! RISE UP and PURGE the country of all things foriegn! The Foriegn Devils will never send thier rubbish to Atleus and pollute our nation!"

With that the Army they saluted all together and the crowd began a tremendous roaring cheer

"I give all loyal patriotic citizen the right to enter any home in the country with the purpose of finding these banned materials and purging the country of it!"

The crowd then scattered. The army began marching and patrolling the city

Citizens walked in teams of 5-10 and stormed into any house, busting down the door and turning over all peices of furnature and breaking holes in lose spots in the walls to find banned materials. Even the most fanatical supporters of the program had their houses broken into

At first it just affected Militaria the capital city but Supreme Commander Avory's message was shown on all the TV's and heard on all the Radio's in the country and soon the entire nation was in an uproar. The Government declared a 3 day holliday to continue on with the purge of foriegn material

Soldiers assisted and monitored the situation making sure it would not spiral out of control

Huge holding pens were created on the outskirts of every community to round up all the criminals that contained any scrap of foriegn material

Even now the fanatical crowds had created thier own rules in which they even hunted down people that owned government approved books that were written by foriegners despite the fact the government approved them and translated them in Atleusian

Libraries were soon broken into so any foriegn books (approved by the government and translated to Atleusian) were also to be purged.

By 5pm the zeal of the people had still not worn out and Avory Irons exploited this by issuing another message on the Purges and that was:

"Anybody who had a reletive desert thier country has a defective unpatriotic gene and must also be hunted down and rounded up and as of this momen the crowds have permission to use whatever force nessasary to purge any criminal from our Paradise!"

Avory would also like to issue a message to the outside world

"To all the nations who share in the goal of ridding themselves of any kind of foriegn influence we ask that you join with us in the great Purge. Let it not be an Atleus affair but a world wide movement to enforece national sovieriegnty and border protection! and too nations who would condemn the Great Purge of foriegn influence, we have full support from our people! Argue with the people, then you will have to be the ones to deal with a country of 34 million seething, resentful souls bent on destroying all foriegn influence and has permission to kill a foriegner on sight!"

Other cultures mixing togethor is what makes not only a great country, but countries all togethor! It's a simple matter of two cultures coming togethor, deciding to team up, becoming bigger, and claiming an area as their own for safety and supplies. It is not meant to act as some form of moronic racism the likes of which you are executing on this supposed 'holiday'. The way you acts is a stain on the global community that sickens the Ursavian government to an amazingly large extent.

The Realativly Isolationist nation of Kewen had caught the Aleus message, being much a isolationist country themesleves and having fought a Civil war which basically divied the coutnry into "forgien allowed" zones and "Native only" zones in a bid to appease both parties.

I'm afraid you would be mistaken to think your citizens would be in Atleus. Since 2000 all foriegners were forced to leave the country and we have had a extremely closed border policy since in which it is absolutly illegal for any foriegner to eneter the country and its also on illegal to any Atleus to leave the country on penalty of death. have you heard of the Sokoku policy in Japan. Well we have a similar policy adapted for Atleus.

We understand your concern but the Supreme Commander, Giant of Atleus, Father of all Atleusians and Great Thinker of the country along with the Military Council are permitted contacted with the outside so development and trade is not a problem. But this is temporary until a future date until Atleus is completely self sufficient and the Development of Atleus will be an entirly native effort!

The People are fully supportive of the leadership of the Supreme Commander, Giant of Atleus, Father of all Atleusians and Great thinker of the country. What ever he says lights us a great path to progress so no one doubts the Great Thinkers views or messages. This very voice inspires the good Patriots to do anything in the name of the nation and of the Supreme Commander. Spontanous rally's and parades happen monthly, every citizen applauds at his every geasture and word he speaks. He is truly an enlightened leader that would never lead us wrong!

Becuase Avory Irons and his government are extremly xenophobic and want to instill the people with xenophobia. Trade is restricted with nations, contact with foriegners is banned etc. this program will as you say help enforece isolationism which is the governments goal

Plus, I doubt they'd even have money in the first place, or if they did it would be as a store of wealth meant to be spent and hording it would probably be suspicious. Don't assume everyone has a modern country like the US or UK.

Cease and desist immediately. You shall allow Uir made products to enter your country or we shall take drastic measures. Your clearly communist ways are afflicted by a fallacy and so you shall never be able to maintain it without severely limitting people's rights. Which you have already done. An agricultural country needs more than homegrown food and water. At the VERY minimum you can grow your own pigs and wheat, well your own water, and build your own house from timber. Now let's see...

If you want to be a REAL agricultural country, you will need the following:
1. Tractors
2. Building materials
3. Chemicals

Now, you can produce tractors yourself. But then you have to have a tractor factory; you have to have metal and rubber and you have to have diesel. Building materials require iron, steel, cement, brick. Chemicals require a full grown chemical industry.

You can either import these things, but then, where do you get your money from? Stalin turned an agricultural country into an industrial one by selling all the grain produced by the collective farms to East Europe at extremely low prices. Of course, that's how eight million people died of famine, but it's also how he got his hard cash to buy machine tools.

Modern agriculture requires machinery and chemicals. Either you can produce them at home, or you can import them, but to produce them at home you have to have your own industries to produce them, which in turn... well, the amount of material and material processing tools you need at least doubles. And you can either import these, or build them yourself. But what if your country lacks any metal whatsoever? How the hell do you farm? You import of course, you sell your grain for hard cash on the market and buy machinery with it.

Agrarian societies cannot survive without trade. It is their method of raising hard cash.]

OOC: I was thinking of more primitive feudal style agriculture which doesn't need anything other than simple tools usually made out of wood and/or metal which it is possible to manually mine out. Of course, it will be a backwards society which will further its isolation but that isn't the point.

[OOC: You said 'function' - well, you were correct, but 'function' usually means to some degree of affluence, at least in some sectors of the economy. The people would live in utter poverty, but if you want to go back six hundred years - well, I mean, it's doable, of course.

As long as Atleus RPs the effects of isolationism, then I think its a good idea. NS needs alot more variety. Unfortunately, he won't be open to many RPs, for obvious reasons.]

As an agrarian society. You can be totally isolationist and not be agrarian and still be around 1950s-60s level (i.e., North Korea) of development, but you said specifically Agrarian, so that was what I refuted.

Well, no, I think unless he can feed his people effectively, he can't survive and be isolationist and agrian is basically the kind of society which is most likely to be able to support him best given that it concentrates on food production as well as timber for housing and farming materials.
