The Hyperborians were not blind to what was happening in the galaxy. and when 23 Ships of unknown type were in the Galaxy, there are two things to do, (1): Panic and claim it was the end of the Galaxy or (2): Attack those 23 Ships and take their NaviComptuers.

Stealing enemy NaviComputers was what the Hyperborians were going to do. those 23 Ships had to come from somewhere, and the sensors that detected the alien ships were tracking them. So The Hyperborians would Capture one of the Ships, take the NaviComp and find out where they came from......

So the Hyperborians could invade.

to make sure the enemy would be over whelmed. The Hyperborians sent a Fleet of 30 Rin-Shi Class Cruisers to crush the enemy Fleet.

The first issue with the mysterious vessels was that they would seem to blink out of existence and reappear wherever they went, although they always traveled in their convoy of 23. They jumped around the rim of the galaxy, disappearing for sometime before popping back up hundreds of lightyears away. So the first issue was to detect those multiple jumps to FTL, track them, and realize that they were using a new type of technology that hadn’t been seen before, and gather from what limited scans could be taken from that far away that they were a completely new player to the galaxy.

The second issue, was trying to figure out where they would appear so that the ships could intercept. Since their technology was alien to the Hyperborians that would prove to be an issue, allowing them to only track the short energy bursts whenever they entered or left normal space. Then their was the issue that the vessels didn’t seem to have a home point, in the last week that had traveled across five hundred light years of the galactic rim, staying anywhere from hours to days and then zipping off again.

However, luckily for the Hyperborians tracking the mysterious vessels, they seemed to have been in orbit around a gas giant in a certain rim system, the ships moving in orbit around the gigantic planet in formation. Twenty-Three vessels consisting of 13 frigates, 7 destroyers, and three cruisers (two smaller ones and one heavily armed ship). Their capabilities, technology, and most of all ship-classes unknown. The hyperborean would be walking into a commander’s worst nightmare, an enemy that nothing was known about.

The Planet Gendo

Here the Fleet that was to be sent after the alien fleet was massed here. this fleet would handle the aliens and try to capture one of the alien Ships. to join them, each Rin-Shi Cruiser had Three wings of Carrakiau Fighters and going with the Fleet was over 20 Long Range Fighters: fighters belonging to The Cimmarian Samurai. Ready for takeing the Alien Ships.

"Prepare to engage into Slipstream and order all Ships to the Fatah System." he Commander, Tarkaan Rasisao Noyan said as thet prepared to jump into Slipstream. Soon the Fleet soon disappered, appearing to cloak. But they were going into Slipstream.

heading for battle.

The wonderful thing about the Firebird Aerospace Frigates was that they doubled as hydrogen miners during long distance voyages. Their aerospace design allowing them to slip into the heavier parts of a star or gas giant’s atmosphere and scooping up the needed elements with magnetic collectors, taking them back up to the other ships and delivering the much needed element that both powered their ships and composed their plasma weaponry. The fleet was only down to 35% of their hydrogen stores, but it was always good to refill whenever you could on a scouting mission. No knowing when something could come and chase ya half way across the galaxy.

By the time the 30 cruisers had entered Slipstream the last of the 10 frigates were finishing their harvesting operations, traveling back up to the other ships and entering formation. With their frigates secure the ships all started to accelerate, engine systems that ranged from mass drivers to photon drives initiated and the formation started to orbit the gas giant faster, starting to draw away from the gaseous layers below them.

Within a few minutes they would be speeding away from the gas giant at a fraction of C, the black and red coat of arms ships drifting to the recesses of the system, awaiting for orders of the next system to visit.

"We are nearing The Fatah System." a Jr, Officer said to Tarkaan Rasisao, "We are about to exit Slipstream soon." "Good," Rasisao said. "Have the Ships readied for action and alert The fighters to be ready."

Soon. The Fleet exited Slipstream, Appearing to decloak in the style of Hyperborian Slipstream, and in good time. They were faceing the Alien Fleet it self.

"All Ships ATTACK!!!!!" Rasisao yelled as the Ships started the Attack. Fighters soon started Pooring out, lead by The Cimmarian Samurais.

The Battle of Fatah was starting.

Unfortunately, the same disadvantage that prevented the Sertian’s FTL from being detected also prevented them from knowing of the attack beforehand. Nothing was unusual on sensors, up until the point the OMSA picked up tons of vibrating mass right in front of them. Automatic relays sent messages to the EM sensors which focused a good portion of their attention onto the thirty ships that had just appeared out of nowhere, and a split microsecond later the detectors sounded an alarm across all twenty-three Sertian ships when they detected many smaller fighters and weapon charges.

After that microsecond the commander of the Sifito-Class Heavy Cruiser looked upon the new holo-map in front of him. Before it had shown the two dozen ships within his care leaving the gas giant against a black backdrop of space, now it had zoomed out to reveal the formation, fighters, and anything else the combination of OMSA and EM could reveal about what they were fighting. With a trained mind he glanced across the enemy formation, noted the sheer size of the ships in relation to his own, and taking note of the alarms ringing across the bridge, realized that diplomacy would not be in order.

With a few flicks of his fingers and a few chosen words the Tactical Assistant Computer that had become almost apart of the commander responded. His twenty three ships fired up their plasma canons, coil gun turrets and rail gun PD systems charged magnetic and electric firing mechanisms, and fighter pilots scrambled to the fighter bays on the three cruisers, preparing to fly in defensive formation around the smaller fleet.

The battle had indeed begun, the commander sitting back in his chair and eying the holographic display, the ever so occasional flick of hand or short sentence was enough for the TAC to relay his orders. The formation moved under his silent commands, the shield frigates moving forward to extend the Quantum Shields forward into space. It took the formation a full minute to click into place, but after that the four squadrons of Phoenix Feather-Darters flew out on their twin ramjets, covered by the barrage of kinetic slugs and hypervelocity plasma bolts that raced towards the enemy ships.

All that was left to do was wait and see how the first action panned out, how the chess match against bigger and more numerous ships would pan out, and if need be, get the hell out of dodge…

That last thought made the Commander realize he hadn’t ordered the computer to send an S.O.S. to the main fleet outside the galaxy. He quickly wavered his middle finger to take care of that.

The Shields took the impact of the Weapons of the Aliens. But not all Ships escaped the attack of the aliens. Fighters that got cought in the Crossfire got blasted by Plasma Bolts from the aliens and one Rin-Shi was disabled, then blasted by more plasma and destroyed.

But The Hyperborans soon Attacked with their own weapontry. The large plasma Cannons fired against The Alien Ships, Bluse Plasma blasts that would remind one of Blue Comets raced against The enemy Ships while Anti-Matter Missiles and Long Ranged Turbolaser fire targeted the enemy Frigates with Heavy Firepower.

The Fighters soon started to engage the enemy Fighters in all out combat. useing their Pack Attack tactic. The Hyperborians would make sure the enemy would lose.

and To make sure the Aliens did not call any Renforcements, the Hyperborians soon started Jamming Transmissions to make sure the enemy did not have any Surprises.

The blue plasma bolts raced towards the enemy cruisers, seeming unimpeded by whatever shields they were deploying… Quickly the bolts slammed against the three ships, hulls visible shook for a few seconds as the kinetic and thermal energy was almost instantaneously dispersed across the entire hull. The effect of the Rin-Shi’s main canons was that hull temperature rose a few kelvins, the heat then radiating into empty space or absorbed by the ships for power.

The lasers however, had a much more noticeable effect, even if they seemed to be affected by the shields. Outside of a few kilometers away from the enemy formation, the turbo lasers seemed to be bent and unfocused by the energy fields the alien ships created, some of the frigates that were meant to be hit instead grazed some of the destroyers and cruisers. However, two frigates managed to be hit in this random volley fire caused by the shields, an aerospace frigate at first seemed to have its weapon systems disabled, until plasma explosions throughout its hull announced it had suffered catastrophic energy failure. The second cruiser, seeming to be one of the few shield frigates, managed to weather the hit with its heavy armor, but a few centimeters of it had evaporated…

Then came the missiles and fighters, automatic point defense systems twisted and rapid fired slugs into the courses of the missiles and fighters, almost every ship coordinating its fire by the interlinked TAC systems. Of course no defense system was perfect, some missiles slipped through to detonate themselves against alien vessels and others exploded close enough to shake the vessels. A destroyers main canon was damaged in the missile explosions, a few other destroyers suffered malfunctions in their missile bays preventing them from firing. The heavy cruiser weathered a few missiles itself, its large supply of PDS rail guns focusing on protecting the smaller ships, however it’s heavy armor seemed to prevent any serious damage.

So while the ships focused on repairing and recharging for another volley of plasma and kinetics, the action fell to the fighters. Three of them had been destroyed in the fire fight so far, leaving the remaining 37 to handle by themselves. They were lightly armored, and could possibly get torn to shreds by the Hyperborian fighters if they didn’t have one big advantage on their side, mobility and speed. Instead of engaging the enemy fighters head on their side engines swiveled, combined with a sudden burst of speed they seemed to speed off to the side with lines of fiery helium following behind. Hopefully the enemy fighters would focus on the evading fighters and the engine trails they left behind, and not focus on the few dozen miniature plasma bolts the fighters had fired off before that.

Now the Cruisers were moving forward, going to attack at Point-Blank Range. Continueing fireing Turbolasers, Beam-Lasers, Ion Cannons and Torpedos and Missiles. The fighters were continueing the fight, over 500 of the fighters were downed and burning. But 20 fighters were now in the fight. The Cimmarian Samurai were good fighters and they were soon entering the fight, letting the force guide them in One on one battles aganst The enemy.

"All pliots attack and make sure we stop them." Rasiu Kalamaro said as he lead the Cimmarians in the battle.

All The While, The Cruisers were getting Closer.

The commander gave a small grin as he saw the enemy cruisers advance, coming at the splendid time when his holographic map revealed that the three damaged destroyers had patched together their weapons. Now came the fun part, or at least, one of several plans he had been toying with in this battle. With a few waves of his hand and a couple short syllables all ships prepared for what would hopefully be a devestating attack to level the odds.

The first inclination of his plan must have came when the fighters moved, traveling in pacts of three or five, spiraling around each other to cover their blindsides, moved out of the way. Their front auto-canons firing on any enemy fighter that got in their way, while the plasma vollies, bolts of plasma moving like mini-missiles, covered their sides and back. Before long the fighters moving back, hiding behind the cruisers and destroyers to let the point defense guns take care of enemy fighters.

Now came the fun part... Within seconds of each other the destroyers and cruisers released their cruise missiles. Devastating plasma explosives backed up by medium-ranged missiles from the frigates soured through space at fractions of C towards the enemy cruisers, a volley of plasma bolts ranging from the heavy canons on the cruisers to the light turrets of the frigates covered their approach, the fiery signatures hopefully masking the trail of the dozens of deadly missiles shooting forth.

From his tactical view of the whole scenario the commander couldn't help but grin as pin pricks of information representing all that he had let forth flooded the forward side of his formation. True about thirty percent of the missiles he had fired didn't even make it near the cruisers, exploding in the lascanon fire from the enemy cruisers, but their explosions helped masked the other missiles and, most of all, the gambit for his entire move.

From the Heavy Cruiser one final missile was released, a strategic class typically used to EMP an entire world, the SATEMP was still a capable cluster-missile that could blind, if not lightly damage, his enemy. And it would be what would hopefully cover his ships as they dropped their shields and powered down their weaponry, using the massive gamma ray bursts to cover them while they charged up their drift drives to reach a more advantageous position.
