OOC: The new flag may be seen by viewing Steudlton's profile. A larger version has been uploaded to WikiStates here (http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/Image:SteudltonFlagNew.png) as opposed to the older one here (http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/Image:SteudltonFlag.JPG).

It was 1730 (5:30PM), late in the day and just in time for a live airing on the news channels. There was a charge of mystery in the Press Room of the Republic Council. Behind the podium where the nation's flag was instead a canvas cover. President Mattheius Jozef Steudl walked up to the podium confidently. He was dressed in his formal uniform from his days in the Republic Marines. He was known to do for formal occasions.

He looked around the room and everything went from the low buzz of speculations to preparations for his words. The television cameras zoomed in on his face. He spoke with a confident tone. "My fellow Steudltonites, Nations of the world. Today marks a great day in Steudlton history. As of Fourteen-Hundred, two o'clock PM, this afternoon the Republic Council reached a unanimous bipartisan agreement to change the National Flag. Mounted behind me under cover of canvas is the new design." Mattheius said as he stepped back to reach for a piece of rope.

Once the rope was pulled it caused a chain reaction. The small 1/8th inch of canvas material above each hook hole gave way. The canvas fell to the floor revealing the new Steudlton Flag. It was much like the old one except the cross-rifles were at a narrower angle, and placed lower on the flag. The Firefighter's Maltese was slightly larger under the rifles. To the right of the rifles was a black Anchor. The tri-stripe in the canton was narrower as well.

The podium was moved out of the way so the reporters and cameras could get a full view. The TV cameras zoomed out to get Steudl in the view.

"Using our old flag as a base we have narrowed the tri-stripe in the canton. The cross-rifles symbolizing Steudlton's mandatory military service have been lowered and repositioned to form a narrower angle. The Firefighter's Maltese which represents our dedication to public service has been made larger.
"We have added, to the right of the rifles, the silhouette of an Anchor. This represents Steudlton's Naval History, and symbolizes the importance of maritime industry within our economy.
"If the leaders of any friendly nations have any comments or questions, I will be happy to direct them personally."

President Steudl announced his acceptance of questions. One reporter stood up and announced himself and the paper he worked for. It was a rather well-known international publication. His question regarded the use of the older flag.

"The old flag may be used as a Heritage Flag, to be displayed at historical landmarks and hoisted on our Independence Day. It may also be used as the Nation's first Yachting Ensign. Provisions for this are provided under Article 11 of the new regulations." The president explained, thoroughly answering the question.

Mattheius pointed to another reporter. She too stood up and followed procedure of giving her name and employing publication. This one was a reporter for the Oceanside Tribune. She had questioned if there were any changes to the flag regulations.

Matt answered the question directly and briefly. He stated that there were no changes beyond the addition of Article 11. He confirmed that the old regulations would remain the same, and would be enforced the same. He then added that if any friendly or neutral nations had questions or comments, he would address them personally. He then proclaimed no further questions and walked off the podium.

With his dismissal from the Press Room a flurry of questions were blurted out as General Wyatt Jackson, Ret. took the podium. He was the Vice-President and was himself a Republic Marine. He, like Mattheius, was in his old formal uniform. He was known by the nickname "General" as the reporters were blurting out with their questions. A wave of his hand quieted everyone down and He began to address individual concerns.

The TV cameras zoomed out to get a view of the whole press room. TV reporter's and anchorperson's voices were dubbed in as they gave their commentary on the revealing.
