Emperor Quaeus of Roma V Passes Away (Open)

Roma V

An excerpt from a popular Roman newspaper, Mercury's Messages:

It is with great sadness that we write to our readers to inform them that Emperor Quaeus, the driving force behind Roma V, the father of our great nation and the source of admiration all across our country has passed away.

Quaeus, 64, was admitted into one of Rome's hospitals when he broke into a coughing fit and eventually passed out from the coughing causing issues to his lungs. He was delivered to the hospital at 9:42 PM. After attempting to revive the Emperor he was pronounced officially dead at 11:22 PM and named dead on arrival.

The source of the Emperor's death has yet to be identified but we're told pathologists are working around the clock to determine the cause of death.

Emperor Quaeus leaves behind his wife, Helen, of 42, and his son Primus of 16. A week of mourning has been called for by the Senate in honor of the Emperor. However, within three days into the celebration the Senate was already bickering over who would take the throne as Queaus left no answer to this in his will.

Meanwhile Quaeus's wife, Helen, has had trouble deciding where the burial place of the Emperor will be located. She is struggling between burying the Emperor at his estate in the countryside outside of Rome which will also be named a national landmark or in the city of Palermo where Quaeus was born.

Despite all this though, the deep pain of Emperor Quaeus's passing was felt by all Romans. He touched the hearts of many and dedicated his life to the people and not just the governing of them. In these next few days we're told that the Emperor's successor will be officially named.

Emperor Quaeus's Death

We, the Senatus de Roma V, are deeply touched and appreciative of the kind words and condolences given by our friends of the international community. We will be most honored to meet your delegations at the Emperor's open casket funeral within St. Peter's Basilica within Vatican City. We anticipate a massive turn out in those who will wish to pay their respects to the Emperor and so your delegations will receive the honor of being one of the first to pay your respects.

As for the coronation of a new Emperor we are currently working in conjunction with the Emperor's personal staff and family to decide if it will be an elected official to take his place, or his son who is not yet of age.

We look forward to seeing your delegations at the funeral and will inform you on the date once the nature of the Emperor's untimely death has been fully investigated and the body will be left back in the custody of his family.

Strength and Honor,
The Senatus de Roma V

Subject: Condolences

Your Majesty,

News of your beloved husband's death has come as a shock to us here in the Ixanian Empire who have viewed him and your nation as being loyal and trustworthy friends of Ixania in this world and the entirety of our nation wishes to send you its utmost condolences for the loss of your husband whom, we are sure, was a man who strove to make the Roman people live in prosperity and peace and who strove to be a good man for his family. If there is to be a funeral in the upcoming future, we would send a representative. I can remember when I met your husband during the peace talks with Ryou and he was quite charming and professional in his endeavors. I can only hope that his successor learns to emulate his father and that your family and nation is able to move on from this horrid tragedy.

Sincerely,
Anastasia II

Letter to the Government of Roma V

We in the Socialist National Republic of Karuchea are deeply saddened by this and extend our condolences. While we did not always agree with Emperor Quaeus, from our experiance he was a kind and noble leader who always worked for the betterment of his people and addressed them at all times.

As such, we extend a two day mourning period in Karuchea. We wish to extend official diplomatic relations and would like it if perhaps a delegation from our country were to visit Roma V or vice-versa.

This is a sad time, but let the great Empire of Roma V continue in her glory.

Official Report From the Ministry of National Health and Well-being

Our agents, working closely with the staff of the hospital Emperor Quaeus was admitted to, have concluded that Emperor Quaeus died of natural causes and they suspect no foul play could be linked to his death.

We've come to the conclusion that Emperor Quaeus had an acute case of bronchitis at the time which, when he erupted into a coughing fit from it, triggered asthma from the pain of his inflamed lungs. The two coupled together stopped his breathing and he suffered from asphyxiation due to the lack of air his brain and body were receiving which killed him when he did not receive the proper immediate medical attention.

We hope this report eases the minds of mourners both nationally and internationally.

Respectfully,
Amelio Sapascino

Emperor Quaeus's Funeral and Other Announcements

We, the Senatus de Roma V, would like to announce that Emperor Quaeus's funeral will occur in two days within St. Peter's Basilica inside Vatican City. All foreign delegations are welcome but there to be, and we will say this only once, no weapons. We will ensure that your delegations are safe with very reliable and tight security at the funeral.

Pope Benedict XVI will be leading the procession and the Roman Catholic Church has even considered Emperor Quaeus for nomination of Sainthood for his achievements and devout life he led in the name of the betterment of the people.

We will provide translators for those of you who may not be fluent in the Italian language. However we're still discussing with the Pope if he will be making his procession in English or his fluent Italian.

We will keep the international community posted on any further announcements and apologize for the lack of response to personal letters of Helen Quaeus who has spent her time grieving heavily over the loss of her husband during these trying times for her and her son. Rest assured she will be at the funeral at which point your delegations are free to approach her and express personal apologies and words of comfort.

Re: The passing of a leader.

Dear friends,

The Empire of New Chalcedon has not forgotten the friendship that the late Emperor Quaeus has shown the Empire. In addition to being a true leader of his own people, he was an inspiration for all peace-loving, civilised people around the world, and the world will be much the poorer for his abscence.

It is Our desire to send a representative to his funeral, other than the distinguished Ambassador Norvatos. To wit, We shall, with the permission of the Senate, send Our dearly-beloved brother and heir, Prince Constantine, as a sign of respect for the late Emperor. We would make the trip Ourselves, but many weighty matters of State prevent Our travelling at this time.

Regards,

Michael VI Doukas-Palaiologos,
Emperor and Lord of New Chalcedon
Grand Duke of Constantinopolis Secundus,
etc., etc.

On behalf of my family and those loyal to our House,

I offer You our most sincere grief for the passing of the Emperor. While our nations or our persons never met long-term, it saddens each and every Royalist citizen that a person of such valour pass beyond the veil.

With great grief we must also inform that the present situation in Northern Rangeria will not allow us to send a representative to the funeral. Rest assured, however, that the memory of the Emperor will be respected and her passing mourned.

With the greatest of respects,

Prince Mikhail IV of House Halsar

I am sad to hear the passing of your husband and I wish to say that the news bought pain to some of the Royal Family and elements of the Imperial Guardian because we knew him and he once visited our kingdom. I had the honour of meeting him a few times during his visit but I can't really say I got to know him. However, I would like to say that I'm personally coming without any escorts to attend the funeral.

It is with the deepest and most heart-felt grief that we send our deepest condolences. Our two nations have not had much contact, but many of our populace are ethnic Italians and devout Roman Catholics. The news of the Emperor's passing has pushed many in my country into deep mourning, and too has saddened many within my government. Our flags will fly at half-staff over the capitol for two weeks in honor of your husband; and if accepted, I will be traveling with a new Ambassador by the name of Phillip DeSimone to your husband's services. At the appropriate time after mourning your husband, Amb. DeSimone would like to discuss opening up diplomatic channels between our two nations in the spirit of Italian and Catholic brotherhood.

With regards,

PM Talon Abruzzo
