The year is 1975 and the world is still in the midst of nuclear brinkmanship as East and West stand face to face as the Cold War goes on. In Berlin, the Wall still stands as a symbol of the divide, while in South East Asia communist forces come closer and closer to Saigon. In the USA, President Ford and his administration are recovering from the greatest political scandal to ever face the White House and are beginning preparations for the evacuation of US citizens in South Vietnam. In Great Britain, tensions in Northern Ireland reach an all time high as the IRA bombing campaign rocks downtown London and kills civilians. While in Moscow, Afghanistan has become a common subject as insurgencies plague the the pro-Soviet Government there. In Iran the seeds are being laid for a type of revolution the world has yet to see, the Islamic Revolution. The world is moving towards a confrontation between East and West, which could cost the world more then it has. Both sides have nuclear weapons on hair-trigger alert waiting for the call no one hopes will ever come, yet the USA and the Soviet Union constantly test eachothers will. From the CIA Moscow Station Chief to the East German Border Guard manning an outpost on the Inner German Border, both sides look to the other to see who will make the next move. Each day generals prepare their troops for war and politicians fight desperatly to prevent it. Everyone is looking for a way to protect their families and nations from Oppenheimer's deadly toy.

A lot of important nations are still open:

I'll join, but BTW, the Saur Revolution in Afghanistan occurred in 1978, before then the government was neutral and NOT Pro-Soviet.

The insurgency began around 1975 though.

And I quote: "While in Moscow, Afghanistan has become a common subject as insurgencies plague the the pro-Soviet Government there."

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just historically accurate, the government became pro-Soviet with Taraki's Saur Revolution in 1978.
