The Emperor is Dead; Long live the Emperor (MT) (Open)

(OOC: Coronation RP! With Foreign Delegates! And only a slight chance of an Assassination Attempt! I'm serious about the assassination attempt, by the way...)

Hello and welcome to Angenteria News International (ANI.) I am Johan Brosman, bringing you some very sad news.

I regret to inform you that today, at 3:27 AM, His Supreme Majesty Emperor Anicus Riektal I, died in his bed at the age of 74. Emperor Riektal had inherited the throne some fifty-two years ago, at the age of 22, upon the death of his father, the late Emperor Flavius. Early in his reign, Emperor Riektal showed knack for military command, personally reclaiming the Southern Provinces of the Holy Imperium from a rogue governor who desired to crown himself Emperor. In order to prevent such an uprising from ever happening, he bestowed the power to the Council of High Lords (OOC: That's what we call 'the senate') to appoint provincial governors, instead of having their position inherited from the old aristocratic families. He also decreed that new High Lords will be democratically elected by the people themselves, allowing the common Angenterian participation in their government.

He will also be known as the very first Emperor in Angenterian history to break the long-standing tradition of isolationism, authorizing the construction of the first foreign embassies on Angenterian soil. This was a great step forward in Angenterian progression, as the Holy Imperium has made many new friends that it can trust.

It is dictated by ancient tradition that the Riektal line of Emperors be continued by the eldest son or daughter of the Late Emperor. In this case, the crown falls to Marcus Riektal, at the age of 22 (born two years ahead of his sister and only sibling, Camilla Riektal.)

The Coorination will be held in Empire Square, within Angenteria City after the funeral of the Late Emperor.

This has been a special report of Angenteria News International. I am Johan Brosman, signing off.

Your Highness, I offer you my condolences for your fathers death. While Angenteria and Zaheran does not have much in the way of prior communication, the death of a strong monarch such as your father is always a sad occasion. While my father unfortunately cannot attend the coronation ceremony, I and a group of other nobles will represent the Zaheranian Empire, if you so permits.

To: The Emperor-in-Waiting Marcus Riektal of the Angenterian Throne
From: Emperor-in-Waiting Josh Raskov of the Ralkovian Throne

Marcus, you have my condolences about your father. I too lost my own father a few weeks ago as you may remember. This must be a confusing time for you. You must be sad at the passing of your father but happy about inheriting the throne. You must remember your father had a long and prosperous life, remember his life not his death.

Secondly, I would like to congratulate you on inheriting the throne. I would like to know if I could be a guest to your coronation. It is not everyday someone becomes an Emperor, that is why my coronation gift to you is a priceless .03 ounce necklogen gem ring.

Necklogen is an extremely valuable metal and is a sign of royalty in Ralkovia. It is suppose to bring happiness, strength, luck, and peace to its wearer. Necklogen is almost priceless since only 50lb of it has ever been found and only in Ralkovia. These valuable jewels have been passed down generation to generation in Ralkovia. They also become invisible in red light and never lose there glimmer and shine even if you don't polish it.

This is are gift to you, I wish you happiness, strength, luck and peace in your reign.

Sincerely and with best regards,
Emperor-in-waiting Josh Raskov, Ralkovia

John Cartwright, a Miroxia rebel accused of several murders, walked down the hall of the Port Durant Airport while incognito. He carried nothing but a small travel bag. As he arrived at gate 45, he took out his ticket to Angenteria. He then boarded the plane.

"Well," he said to himself, "Operation: Foreign Murder is a go!" The plane then took off shortly after.

Marcus Riektal paced the floor of the Imperial Palace. It was a sunny day outside, without a cloud in sight, perfect for a coronation. He was nervous, but with good reason. The entire Holy Imperium of Angenteria would be looking to him for answers, to tell them what to do, how to act. Honestly, he wasn't sure whether or not he was ready. At the age of 22, he was the exact same age as his father when he was named Emperor. He stopped his pacing, and gazed at a portrait of the Late Emperor. His father stared back at him, filling him with reassurance and pride. But deep down, he wondered if he'd ever be as good of an Emperor as his father was.

And there was always the chance of being assassinated or deposed. His father would know this, having to personally lead the Imperial Guard into retaking the entire southern half of the Holy Imperium. But he had been assured by the palace guard that his safety was guaranteed. After all, who would want to assassinate the Emperor after such a great job his father did...

As he paced the floor, a nearby door opened up, and a familiar figure stepped through.

"The regalia suits you, but the ceremony isn't for a while yet." Camilla Riektal smiled, and crossed her arms. At the age of twenty, she was two years younger then her brother, and his only sibling. Marcus laughed, and they hugged. It had been a few years since he had last seen his sister, as Marcus had left for officer training in the Imperial Guard, and Camilla had went off to study politics at Angenteria's top university. They had attended the funeral of their father just the day before, but didn't have time to speak. But it was tradition that all members of the Riektal family be present for the ceremony.

Camilla and Marcus had always been close since childhood. Since their father was usually running an empire, their mother took the place of the parental figure. Marcus wondered if he would ever have time to devote to his family.

They walked the halls of the Imperial Palace for a while.

"So what, you're Emperor Marcus now. How about that..."

"Technically, I'm not the Emperor yet."

"Yeah, whatever."

"But I still can't get over it, Camilla. Dad's...dead."

"Me neither." They stopped for a moment, deep in thought, when a sudden voice broke the silence, getting closer by the moment.

"Where is he!? Where's my son!?"

It was going to be a long day...

Cartwright's flight landed smoothly in the land of Angenteria. As he stepped of the plane, he walked out of the airport and into the parking lot where a pre-rented car was waiting for him. He had a map of the city and the coronation was to be held in Empire Square. He had a grin on as he drove out of the parking lot.

About a half hour later, he parked infront of Empire Square. He had illegally bought a gun from a national smuggler. Too easy. As he walked up to the cereomony, a guard pulled him aside and asked what his buisness was here.

"Well, I was sent by Miroxia's High Coucilor Hartford Benson since he wasn't able to make it," he lied. He was then let in as he took his seat. "Mission is a go..." he muttered once more to himself...

OOC:

You're welcome, Angenteria.

By the way, I am a PMT nation. One big example will be shown here in how at least some communications between all my characters is played out. Mainly it is through use of small, concealed, personal communication systems. I'll show more detail as this progresses, if you do not have any objections to that. Telegram me if you desire more information.

I'm also bending time a bit here, assuming my delegation arrives around about the times when the event is to take place, maybe a touch beforehand.

If one's worth could be measured singly in terms of services to one's country, Robin Olds would have been counted among the most worthile Romandeosians living. As it was, she would settle for being called a good diplomat.

Having arrived less than forty minutes before in a private Foreign Ministry jet, Robin and her small Imperial Household Guards escort (one more sign precisely how much she was valued, not making do with Ministry guards) arrived at the Imperial Palace in the VLT L7 4.4 V8 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13231453&postcount=12) which had been stored in the plane's one moderately size cargo compartment built in specifically for vehicle storage. As it was transporting such important people, the vehicle was armored.

Ms. Olds, whose official title was Imperial Diplomatic Representative, had also brought her personal secretary, but she would be staying in the plane for two main reasons. One, she wasn't feeling too well, and two, she would operate a link between Olds and the capital of Romandeos.

"Gentlemen," she said aloud as she exited the vehicle. "We have arrived."

IDR Olds led the way as the small party walked to the entrance. As they did, her leading guard, a sergeant, noticed something about the doorman.

"Looks like he's been roughed up a little," he said. He had not actually spoken. Rather, he subvocalized his words, which were picked up a a system located hidden beneath the skin of his neck. This was then burst transmitted into an earpiece concealed in the ears of everybody else in the group, where it was translated as spoken words. Nobody else around them heard this at all.

"He does, doesn't he?" said a different Guardsman. "Odd."

"Don't worry about it," said Olds. "Not all peoples are as civilized as we are."

(OOC: Umm, where are you all arriving at? Ah, well, let's pretend you all entered the palace, and are now standing in the foyer.)

"Where is he!? Where's my son!?" The voice came closer and closer, until finally, a figure entered the corridor.

"There he is!" Francis Riektal, Former Empress and widow of Anticus, and mother of the two siblings rushed into the room. She rushed over to her children, grabbing them both with her giant arms and locking them in a giant bear hug before either of them could react.

"Look at you! Emperor! Your father would have been proud, you know."

"Mom..." Marcus began, but couldn't figure out what exactly to say. So much for a charismatic Emperor.

"Mom, let him be." Camilla said. "He's under enough stress as it is."

Francis laughed. "What do you mean? I'm his mother. I wouldn't very good at being one if I didn't bother him." She looked at her daughter. "And how about you, hmm? Graduating from Angenteria U. with full honors. That's something to be proud of, in itself. But still, your hair needs fixing." Her hands flew to her daughters head, only to be stopped by Camilla's. No matter what her mother said, she wore her dark hair long.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Another voice echoed throughout the hallway, and High Chancellor Uriel Quinlan stepped through the door. As High Chancellor, he was the highest elected official in the Holy Imperium, and had been a friend of the Riektal Family since his appointment to office. He stepped over to Marcus. "And congratulations to you, my Lord." He said, placing his hand on Marcus' shoulder. "Your father would have been happy to know that the Holy Imperium has been left in such capable hands."

"Thanks, Uriel." Marcus replied, smiling. Uriel was like an uncle to them, and the children viewed him as such.

"Oh, Uriel, you're always welcome." Francis replied, exchange friendly kisses on the cheek.

The clanging of armor interrupted their conversation, and a palace guard stepped in. He was wearing his ornate white armor, with golden engravings. A helmet obscured his face, and a rifle was slung across his back. He went down to one knee.

"Forgive me, my lord, but the foreign delegations have arrived."

"Well, then." Uriel said. "I suppose it's time for our Emperor to greet the foreign delegations."

"Yes." Marcus replied. "Lets go."

As they walked, Marcus swore he could hear his sister chuckling. He stepped over to her.

"What's so funny."

She laughed, and replied in her deepest voice. "My Lord, the foreign delegations have arrived. You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

Marcus said nothing, because he knew that somewhere within him, he just couldn't wait to be king. (OOC: HAHAHA!!! GET IT!!!??)

Robin looked around casually as she stood in the foyer, awaiting the arrival of the newest Monarch in Angenteria’s history. Her sleek, modern glasses shielded her eyes as she gave her surroundings-and her fellow delegates-a mildly thorough examination. One of them, a man from Miroxia if she recalled, seemed a bit odd. She couldn’t pinpoint it but when she looked at him, he just seemed to be wrong. She considered using her glasses to send some imagery back to her secretary on the plane, but decided against it. She did not want to use her communications equipment if she didn’t have to use it. That could raise a fuss if some locals picked up the transmissions. Besides which she was here to congratulate somebody lined up to become a country’s new ruler, not to spy on diplomats.

(OOC: The actual ceremony is taking place outside, in Empire Square, so all the people can watch.)

Marcus walked along, escorted by palace guards. While ornate, the white and gold armor of the palace guards weren't just for show. Under their armor, each guard wore a mesh of kevlar that covered most of their body. Their rifles were no joke either. Each man carried a repainted and modified version of the G9A2 Self Loading Rifle, bringing them up to modern standards.

Marcus had seen his family off, and now walked with only High Chancellor Quinlan, and their escort.

"Don't worry about it." Uriel said. "They're here to congratulate you, not criticize you. Besides, you're the Emperor now; how they view you is above your concern."

"That's right." Marcus replied. "Such matters are below me."

They arrived at the door leading to the foyer. Two palace guards moved past them, opening up the double doors, and taking positions on either side. A few delegates from different countries stood below them, engaged in waiting.

One of the guards announced "His Majesty Marcus Riektal!"

With that, Marcus and Uriel descended the staircase to the foyer below.

"We're not."

Marcus smiled, diplomatically acknowledging Uriel's words without directly responding to them. He approached the delegates, straightening his white military uniform.
