The Orbs of Ra’Jin [Fantasy OPEN Sign up thread, OOC only]

Here's a link to the IC thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13926766#post13926766).

Basically, some old sentient being decides to spice things up on modern earth with some orbs of power. I’ll have as many as I need, there’s no set number yet. Basically, the orbs are blue spheres that are scattered around the world. Characters will find them randomly and gain special powers that suit their personality or something like that. This is the sign up, just fill in the following information and I’ll ok it. Also, Greywatch and Sylvonia have permission to ok characters in my stead if I am missing. Everybody in this thread will start out as a human with no special abilities. You can choose whether or not you want your char to find an orb or not, which will give them special powers. The orbs are the ONLY way to gain powers, and can only be used once. Using more then one orb will do nothing. They simply give a person a certain set of powers, depending on the person. It’s kind of a ‘destiny’ thing. Then, that person will develop their powers throughout the thread to get stronger and stronger, and so gain new abilities, so to speak. I’ll probably have to ok each new ability as it comes along in the OOC thread. Each person’s weapons will come with their powers, but only medieval weapons (unless you have an un-powered character)

Name: Tal Seraph
Physical traits: Piercing blue eyes, mid length blond hair, broad, square shoulders, 5’ 10”
Weapons: Double bladed golden greatsword.
Powers: Flight (has angelic wings, but doesn’t use them to fly), enhanced strength/speed, can shapeshift, but only to human-like forms, has some cool tricks with his sword I’ll reveal as I go. He also seems to radiate light, and can use this to his advantage. (looks somewhat angelic)
Short Bio: Works in a packaging company as a supervisor. Has no family. His parents died when he was 19, and he has lived on his own ever sense, no siblings. He had a large inheritance, and so he doesn’t have money problems, although he has to keep working. His father was a Police Chief (which has to do with his parent’s deaths), and so he has a strong sense of right/wrong and justice. He is very kind and caring, smart, resourceful, athletic, and self reliant, but he has somewhat low self-esteem and can be naïve at times.
Additional Information: He is now 23, single, is a college grad after 4 years of school. He is in the town of Jacaby in Illinois. He knows how to use small firearms, is good with people, but is somewhat shy with new people.


Name: Jenny Doyle
Physical traits: Brown eyes, long black hair, slender, 5’ 7”
Weapons: Blood red dirk
Powers: Can create illusions, bend people to her will (hypnotize), become invisible, teleport, read minds if she has direct contact with the person.
Short Bio: A co-worker of Tal. Lives in the slums of Jacaby, she has been poor as long as she can remember. She doesn’t let her co-workers know this though, she is always sure to steer the conversation away form herself. Has had a very negative view on the world after her mother was shot to death in front of her by her father, then forced to lie about it. Her father beats her occasionally, usually when he’s drunk. She has to provide for both him and her with her job. Tal is the only one who knows about her money problems, and only because he accidentally overheard her on the phone with her father. She isn’t very book smart, but she is very clever, resourceful, not to mention she does a lot of running in her free time, so she’s in shape.
Additional Information: She will most likely be the main evil villain, or at least one of them. She’s 22 years old, went to a community college for two years (against her father’s will). She can pick locks, is good at being unnoticeable/quiet, and is very manipulative.


The whole idea is that eventually the bad guys will try to take over the world or something, while the good guys will band together to stop them. I don’t really care who wins, either way works.

Feel free to ask questions. I’ll put up the IC thread when there are enough people. I already have it prepared, for the most part.

He'll be mysterious with some dark powers (when he finds an orb, assuming its dark), have an aura of fear around him, love black, be awesome with a scythe, and yet be very friendly.

Name: Ghost (Rheyvin)
Physical traits: Tall, lithe, muscular, atheletic, acrobatic, pale skin, white hair, eyes go between silvery and blue
Weapons: Short Sword, katana, shuriken, daggers, smoke bombs
Powers: Very agile and strong, has very good eyesight, seems to radiate fear, piercing stare
Short bio: Ghost is an assassin, his origins are unknown and his purpose is unknown. He just is, his lives for himself and no one else. A loner with no place to call home. He loves to stay in the shadows.
Additional Information (skills as a normal person, other stuff): Very good with lockpicks and 'diplomacy.'

Weapons: bow/arrows, but keeps a knife on hand
Powers: teleportation, puppeteering (controlling someone else's movement, but not speech and has limited range), metal manipulation
Short bio: Alex grew up second youngest of 7 children. He has a very green thumb and is quite active for a high school junior. Alex is the kind of person every loves and loathes all at once due to his intelligence and people skills.
Additional Information: Anyone he's controlling with his puppeteering ability must be within a mile of him, but the farther they are, the easier it is for them to break free.

Name: Ashley Knight
Physical traits: 5' 7", shoulder length light brown hair, hazel eyes, not quite as thin as Alex
Weapons: daggers
Powers: elemental control, sensory control, can communicate with all forms of life
Short bio: The middle of three sisters, she's Alex's girlfriend and almost as smart. Her bubbly personality and fondness for the right kind of joke for every person make it hard for anyone to hate her. She grew up in a town, where Alex is in the country, in rural Minnesota.
Additional Information: Her communicating includes plants, animals, and most human languages. Sensory control lets her borrow someone else's senses as well as screw with what they see, hear, ect.

Hmm... seems pretty good... the only thing is Alex.. time manipulation will get kinda weird here, along with puppeteering... it's hard to use either without god-modding. I'll say yes, but keep in mind I'm watching. ;)

Edit: actually, foresight is kinda hard to use without god-modding much too.... The only was those would be very helpful is if you asked people ahead of time in this thread... unless you have something else planned?

Had a feeling that was coming. But don't worry, I won't freeze time then start plunging daggers into his opponent. I might slow time to help dodge things though. :)

I could change him a bit if you wanted.
And it doesn't take into account something like an Act of God or the decisions of others. One tiny thing can change the course and throw him off.

No guns, IF you use the orb's power on your char. If it's just a normal person, then sure, guns are fine.

Actually, yeah. But It would also be a more permanent thing, she doesn't have to constantly use it or be in range once she's done it completely. That's how she will probably get a bunch of bad guyz to help her out/ an evil army.

That being said, it'd be possible to escape this too, just a lot harder, and more from willpower then physical strength.

Powers: No special powers, just lots of skill in what he does.
Short bio: Born in the Soviet Union. He never had much of a family life, as his father was killed during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, and his mother raised him and his sister by herself. As a boy, he took an early interest in the martial arts, shown in how quick we has able to learn Judo at the dojo near his home. Served in the Russian Federal Security Service in the early 2000's, where he learned (and mastered) modern combat techniques. Yes... all the effects of the orb are permanent. However, each orb can only be used once. I'm think that.... how's this? The orb is the size of a baseball. After being used, It looks like a globe of the earth, and can be used to track other unactivated orbs? Hmm?

Well, I kinda want my dude to find, in his intro, someone who has used such an orb. After finding the person's hometown is the town we meet in, he goes to investigate.

Powers :Pyrokenesis (the ability to control fire) wich also explains the flaming axe. the ablilities would idealy extend from simple things such as lighting a fire and launching fire balls in the begining to ignighting entire conflagerations to manipulating the flames into mythical beasts wich she controls and then dissapear when she has no more use for them. also she can sence heat sort of like thermal vision but more in the nature of an instinctive feeling
Short bio: Short tempered and unpredictable Star can be some what of a pain to deal with, although if you manage to make a good impression on her and earn her trust and loyalty she will be one of the pest people you could have as a friend and ally.
Additional Information: other than her temper the only other notable trait is her tendancy to get lost in her own thoughts giveing her a slightly ditsy apearance other wise she is quite unremarkable and here small size making it even eazyer to be over looked some ting that bugs her to no end. she is 20 years old and curently in her second year of collage (art studies)
