A large piece of land, to make a colony. The wood is good of everything with wood, oil for tanks and such.

Just use planes, jets and ships, cars and stuff. You can use weapons for soldiers that you like, no nukes.

Now, now, that's really quite hypocritical of you considering your previous 'momentous' oil discovery.

Stok, he's a new RP-er, and although he's not to the standard of a lot of II perhaps it would be better to help him RP rather than troll his threads and glass him on an out-of-character whim?

Canedian Army: In these sorts of threads it is often good to make an ORBAT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_battle) of all your different kinds of tanks, planes and ships, as well as how many of each you have. Wikipedia is a good starting point to get some of these. Also with colony-style RPs a lot of players will throw together a rough map of the area, with your claimed territory and troop-positions. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but it helps stop a bit of confusion :) (EDIT: Sorry, that smiley is quite creepy...)

I made an oil discovery, but that was one freaking discovery. It's not like my entire nation revolved around it or discoveries of other "rare resources". In fact, I haven't touched that thread since now. It was mostly an attempt to provoke Griffincrest, which succeeded, but got boring.

Lynion already has. EC invaded him, which could improve his RPing, but he did not improve, nor did he seem to want to.

OOC: Why would we need to hit this forest? The world's resources aren't just wood, oil, and the like; you can't just live off those. I could just tear through the trees with tanks or napalm and deny the resources to others. No offense but there's no point going in there as far as I can tell.

If your RPing would improve, you would realise that just sending 1,000 men into a forest would not work. They would starve, they would have no water, and would run out of ammunition if they ever did encounter anybody since you provided no logistics.

In addition, when writing, USE PROPER GRAMMAR. It is truly a great difficulty understanding your posts at times.

It is, frankly, terrible. Even some mediocre grammar improvements would help immensely.

To the east, on an island recently ignored due to its barrenness, was a forest that sprawled over every centimetre of land that was there. The wood from the forest was some of the finest that anyone in Canedian Army had ever seen; it was sturdy, yet light. It was truly fine wood. The main problem, however, lied in the natives who resided in the forest and opposed all foreign contact.

Back at the port, a large invasion force of 1,200 soldiers prepared to clear the forest of natives. Of the 1,200 men, 900 were ordered to bring supplies. A major was conversing with his subordinate.

"Soldier, we have laid out the plans. Remember that we must strike hard and fast, and we must not let the natives group up." The major sat, watching the moves of the captain.

"Yes, sir. We shall conquer that land at all costs, sir."

"Remember, there can be no retreat. We need that wood for building materials."

"Yes, sir!"

I don't know, perhaps the CA had no use for so much forest at the time, so its resource value was null in their eyes.

That could be the case.

I'm pretty sure CA is an English as a Second (or more) Language speaker, so perhaps a little slack should be cut for him as far as grammar and word use are concerned

Even if you're Dutch, at least try. Make the post look good. A good, long post is worth ten short crappy ones.

The problem is aa forest by it's nature is a fairly fragile thing. The resource you want the most, the timber, tends to burn and splinter when hit by artillery and bombs, people tend to use those things in battles, thus a battle destroys the things you're fighting for. Makes it rather pointless don't you think?

Besides a lot of people use a neat trick the Germans uses in the Ardennes, they fired artillery into trees purposely to create massive amounts of very nasty wooden splinters.

I think we all decided that He/ she does NOT speak English and is using a translator.
I can't stand people who don't use correct spelling either, but if you
don't spend you life learning this language than you should get a brake.
I'll try and help this kid with some RP'ing. I know several of you have
tried. But I"ll give it a go.

hay Canedian Army,
Basically people would like;
A map of the area, ( with a scale of how many kilometers it is and that stuff )
They'd like to see the area, and know where in the world it is.
Then you should draw up a list of How many soldiers you are sending,
what kind of equipment they use. How much stuff they have, ( food and bullets ).
We'd like to know what the climate is like, I prefer cold forest climates,
as my nation is Temperate. ( The Armed Republic of Cascade States ).
To say that it's a great place to live and the air is clean, well some people need
more details.
I don't but that's just me.
I recamend using Google Earth for maps, it's way easier to import the image from there to use. Than to make one up on the computer and post it.
( I love to draw maps on the table with details and pencils, not so much the computer )
Anyway if you could do that, it would help the rest of us alot.
Oh and I don't care if you're Dutch.
( well I do, it's cool ) and if your spelling isn't perfect I'll survive, since my dutch is really bad.

Cascade States, no offence, but your writing skills are on par with his. The main problem with you guys' posts is that you press enter with every line, and this makes it amazingly hard to read. In addition, the fact that his English is a second language is not really an excuse for bad RPing. Look at Punckeds, for instance. He's Polish, and his posts are nice and descriptive, even though the grammar is different. Sure, spelling and grammar are a bit off, but it's the effort that counts. Canedian Army's posts look as if they're written in two minutes. He types them up in Dutch, possibly translates it, and then posts. Hell, it would be better if he translated it, since then there would be no spelling errors.

I'm not defending his RP'ing skills.

Some of us were born to Role playing. ( Litterally my parents met at a AD&D game ). Others were not given that option. And I realize that my writing style is an issue. I've been working on it. Look at my earlier posts, and now....
The schools I went to sucked, and they had a different "style" of writing and then typing every year. I'm also compulsive about how I write. The way I write is generally the way I talk.
He does need more time to learn, maybe alot more time. I've been at / playing Role playing games since I was in diapers.

I don't condone his style of playing as "good" but realistically we can only
offer to help him. If he tells us to Sodd Off. We have a duty to let him go about his business. It cannot be argued that Hounding him constantly for his
bad grammar, poor plots or lack of military genius is grounds to constantly grind on him. If no one wants to play, then he'll either try accepting help or go off to some other game. In the end None of us Has the power or the Authority to " Make Him" role play the way we want him to.
So what do you say?
