The Department is an elite crime unit within the Bazalonian Federal Police tasked with dealing with potential serial crimes, mostly serial killers. This will be lossly based on the TV Show Criminal Minds... The Department has a number of roles defined below

Department Head - Akin to the Team leader he delegates, and gives orders but must also get his hands dirty in the process. Also acts as a Profiler

Information Specialist - Usually remains back at base where all their tools are, not one for being out in the field they feel at home delving into computers or librarys to find needed information

Media Liason - Determines what information they provide to the media, This is Important the media can be your greatest ally or your greatest enemy. You are the public face of the department.

Profiler - Main Job us to take information come up with a profile, you may at any point attempt to come up with a profile how accurate your profile is depends on what you currently know, becareful if you don't have enough information or know something specific your profile may be way off course or might be close enough. Can on occasion provide hints as to next course of action

Field Agent - Gets on the field and is the one that looks for evidence/clues as to the identity and/or behaviour of the criminal in an attempt to learn enough about the perp to predict his actions and to find a good resolution to the situation

I will be the Department Head and all other characters in related RP's those that have signed up will be listed in their roles below, there is only 1 information specialist and media liason but there should be multiple Field Agent's, Profilers.

Interesting, I'm more used to these kinds of roleplays, I'm interested in being the Media Liaison that would be very critical about any failures of the Department in order to add that little bit of stress to their jobs.

I hope there will be interesting deaths in this role play. It's gruesome, but fun as long as it's fake.

Sounds interesting but I'd need more information... I'm an English major with a Journalism minor, so I might like to do the Media Liason part. But again, I'd need more information as to how exactly this is going to work.

I wouldn't mind playing a profiler.

How this will work...

I'll create a thread that is closed, Attn: Department

The first of these threads will be basically the Department coming together involving a fictional yet gruesome scene (no pictures). You will be called in because someone thinks there might be a serial killer around.

This first one would basically only be to get you used to how things work and shouldn't be hard to work out.

However things will get harder in later threads, also note that interaction between the group and any NPC's that you encouter will continue there may be re-curring characters.

Avalic - After re-reading your post I don't think you quite get the idea, as Media Liason you are as much as part of the team as all the other roles. Your main job is to use and control the media to help the team catch the main. Any Failures of the Department will be your failure as well (and not to mention you're going to have to work with these people - So it's best not to unnecessarily piss them off.

I'm going to give the Job of Media Liason to Sniper Country as he is studying to be a journalist and obviously will know more about handling the media than anyone else.

Also one more thing, If any of you have AIM, Y!, MSN or Skype please add me to your contacts (info to the left). It would be much easier if we could communicate via Instant Messaging.

I'll be the Tech Specialist if no one else will be. Not sure how entertaining it would be to ONLY be behind a computer though. lol. Maybe I could help coordinate? idk. lol

Lamoni and Mt. Id are welcome to join, however only one of you can be the Information Specialist. I'm going to have a hard enough time providing enough material for one of you let alone both of you.

You can both join however one of you is going to have to be a Profiler or Field Agent, though that is probably where we're going to have to cut it off.

I don't see this as worty of redicule. Magical ponies are a valid choice in the forensic profiling field. Though not wildly known for their contributions to the wider world, such magical ponies as Lieutenant Rainbow-Sunshine-and-Giggles and Special Agent in Charge Snowflakes-Rain-Drops-On-Kittens-and-Warm-Apple-Strudel have solved many cases that would have otherwise gone unsolved in the Magical Corral of Laughter.

I'm not sure about Bazalonian weapons laws, but RL sawed-offs aren't legal and in my NS country I only allow military trained in their use to carry them (an underslung shotgun attachment to the battle rifle).

Whether a sawed-off is illegal or not, a professonal cop does not rise to an elite major-case squad with a 'unique brande of vigilante justice' and that's a pyschological problem, sociopathy to be specific.

If he'd walked into ZNPD (Zinairian equivalent of the BFP) like that he would either be dead or on his way to a maximum security prison. And I agree, vigilanteism isn't a good quality in a cop– or anyone.

ICly that was quite a childish act - Messing around with guns like that even as a joke (and unloaded) could easily of resulted in an immediate dismissal. The department is serious business.

OOCly; I had given you a standard issue weapon, someone has already contacted me about a back-up weapon which I'm thinking about making standard as well. If you want to veer off the current mark I have already set in terms of equipment or perhaps behaviour then you will need to clear it with me first.

So, one person has dropped out. Assuming Baz approves, one new person can join (as a field agent). You have to be quick though because you'll have some catching up to do.

My (highly professional) opinion is that someone should RP a local police officer that the Dept. team meets at the scene of their first case. They work with said officer throughout the case and invite him to join the Dept. at the end. So, whoever joined wouldn't been joining as a field officer off the bat, but catch-up will be easier.

Everyone that we are visiting live in the suburbs , Michael is 5 years older than his wife, Henry is a couple of years Younger than his defacto and the Nephew is 54. All are of various heights, Daniel Anderson being the tallest at 6" 2' and Michael at 5" 7'. They're hair is short with Daniel having black, Henry and Michael Brown. All Caucasian.

I've just checked my TGs and I have been talking with someone else, I thought they didn't want it but I have recieved a confirmation.

As a result Media Liason is not available, So that leaves profiler or Field Agent - If you did go Field Agent it balance up the profilers/Field Agents but it's upto you.

I wanted to be a journalist when I grow up, dangit.
