GNN REPORT:

"Prime Minister Gordon Smith has just concluded a press conference were he issued and "Ultimatum" to Gordonopian Communists. Here is what he said.

"It has been 1 year to the day since the beginning of the Communist Uprising. The uprising caused almost 165,000,000 USD of damage in Gordonopia City alone, with an additional 300,000,000 in the rest of the nation. The Communist Party has always been a nusience. Before the uprising, they held several rallies right in front of the Parliament Building, while Parliament was in session. But 1 year ago, they attacked, sparking a bloody rebellion and nearly starting an all out war. After the uprising ended, the rallies stopped, as many of the leading members fled to the Soviet Systems. But now, they are back, and the rallies have begun again. General Pine, the leader of the rebels, is dead, but is now seen as a martyr for the cause. Banners showing his face have been seen fluttering at these rallies, and our intelligence shows that soon, another uprising may begin. So today Parliament has enacted an "Ultimatum" to the Gordonopian Communist Party. Get out, or face punishment. The Soviet System is still accepting Refugees. There are many communist nations in the world that I am sure will be happy to take you in. But we are not. As of today, the Communist Party shall banned in Gordonopia, and any caught as a member shall be SEVERELY punished. You have 1 month to leave before the crackdown shall begin."

"And that is it, the speech given just 1 hour ago. Hopefully it won't cause any problems. This is Reporter Jessica Adams, Gordonopian News Network, signing out"

We accept a meeting with you. The reason for this was clearly stated in the ultimatum. They have been a large disturbance and a planning another rebellion. We will allow them to freely leave the nation, but we cannot give them more than a month as that is all they need to start a rebellion. If you do remember, they were the ones that nearly started an all out war between us.

"Papers please sir"
"But I don't have any papers"
"Sir, your an immigrant, you need the proper paperwork"
"But, I'm a communist, they want us to leave"
"That doesn't matter, your still an immigrant"

The man started walking away, when suddenly he pulled out a CH45 handgun and fired 6 shots into the customs officer. As the customs officer fell dead, several of the people in line ran past him, a few waving communist flags, while the rest stood shocked that someone could do that.

10 Minutes later

"Sir" The aide said with a nervous tone in his voice.
"What is it" Replied the Prime Minister.
"We're getting reports that Communists are attacking customs officers so they can leave without papers. And they seem to be planned. Every time, 10 Communists escape, and a customs officer is killed."
"Mabye it's all planned. They get the people out in small numbers. We want the communists out, but cannot allow this. They are killing government officials. Action must be taken. I want 4 soldiers posted at every customs station, with an additional 16 at major ones."
"Are you sure sir?"
"If it's going to stop these killings, yes, I am."
The aide left the office and headed to the Military Command Room of the Capital.

"They want to throw us out! But we will not go. Not without a fight. We will fight, and this time, we shall prevail. We will strike them down, and they shall be no more. And in their place, we shall begin a new order, one of Communism. Now my comrades, our time is almost here. In 1 day, we shall strike every major city in the nation. We shall begin with the city that holds our enemies might, Gordonopia city. We shall burn it to the ground and on its ashes..."

A man silently left the room. The man he had been listening to was Albert Fikes, General Pine's former second in command. He was now the head of the Communist Party, the party of the enemy. The man who had left was Dietrich Holmes, a high ranking agent of the Gordonopian Intelligence Force. He had been planted in the rally to figure out what was going on. Satellite images had shown a large group of people, many of them known communists, heading to this area. Now he new. They were gathering their army. As he got into his car and sped away, he pulled out his Cell-Phone and dialed his bosses number.
"Sir, it's me"
"What is it 16?"
"Red Rabbit is on the march."
"OK, thanks for letting me know."

He put away his phone and put his attention back to the road. Hopefully, this time, the rebels could be stopped before they attacked.

The Commandos silently closed in on the Communist camp through the woods. The camp was in sight, and so was the enemy. The men looked to the Captain, and he gave the hand signal to attack.
The men ran out of the forest and began rounding up communists as quickly as possible. Then the shots rang out. A communist had pulled out an old HCD Assault Rifle and was firing at he soldiers. More and more communists ran to the central tent, the one that doubled as an armory.
The commandos surrounded the tent and sent a few of their men back with the previously taken prisoners. Phase 1 was complete.
Than, the humming of airplanes could be heard overhead. Paratroopers jumped out of the planes and a few of the commandos watched as their black night parachutes opened up. Several minutes later, the first paratroopers hit the ground, completing phase 2 of the assault plan.
Finally, helicopters could be seen as the last of the Airborne troops reached the ground. They landed in an open field just next to the rebel camp. The wounded were taken out as more men joined the men besieging the tent.
Finally, with all the men arrived, the final assault began. The men closed in on the tent, firing shots to down exposed rebels. Finally, they reached the tent. Inside, the last few rebels surrendered.
The operation had wiped out the rebellion before it started, or so they thought. When they counted the bodies, there were only 1/5 of the number reported, and Fikes was no where to be found. These rebels were a distraction.

THE CENTRAL STATE OF AGRANDOV
One State. One Party. One Future.

Communication.

Prime Minister Gordon Smith of United Gordonopia.

The Central State of Agrandov wishes to support the government of United Gordonopia for their justified stance on the plague that is Communism. By taking tough measures now, before it is too late, you are removing the chance of a true Communist uprising before the red plague infects your nation. They seek to destroy everything the civilised man stands for, and we shall not stand idly by whilst promising lands fall victim to this most unnatural disease.

We are willing to offer you financial and humanitarian aid in your time of crisis, in order to make the ordeal bearable for the ordinary citizens of United Gordonopia who would be destroyed if a red revolution takes hold. The Central State will also offer neutral Peacekeepers to protect the civilians, and even soldiers to protect the government. If the capable leadership of United Gordonopia wishes, we can eradicate this menace before your nation is left strangled and weak, at the hands of a red dictator.

Re: Aid

The Republic - and, by extension, myself - feels your pain and struggle. Our nation has also been through trying times, and we can identify with your need. Damford would not be in the position that it is in today without copious amounts of aid from our allies, not the least of which is the Central State of Agrandov.

This being said, Damford would be more than happy to support your efforts against the Communist scum. Damford is a staunch capitalist state - we regularly imprison and re-educate communists.

So, we offer to you our expertise in winning hearts and minds. You cannot reign victorious against these fools by simply filling those who hand out malicious literature with lead - you must convince them that communism is, in fact, an evil. Now, to the enlightened such as you and I, this may seem a bit useless. After all, how can anyone see communism for other than what it is? The unfortunate fact, however, is that the masses are stupid, and are easily swayed by the false red hopes of equality and freedom-through-work.

Fourteen psychological specialists with a support staff of forty-two are ready to land in United Gordonopia on your word.

Prime Minister,
This crackdown on the "Communist Party" in your nation is against their rights as a human being. Communism is an economic theory, similar to capitalism (which I assume is what your economy is based on). It is wrong to ban or kill people who simply have a different idea than you. As such, I insist that you insure that no one but armed rebels who are fighting against your government and people are killed or captured. I do not support these rebels, only the people who share their economic ideology. 100 armed men have been sent to our Embassy to ensure our people are not harmed. They will arrive shortly.

We thank you for allowing people into your nation. And we have previously tried to reace an agreement, and always the communists make 1 demand, control of the government. This we cannot allow. The "repression" that we have recently instituted is a result of several well based intelligence reports that stated that another uprising was being planned. The actions that we have taken are measures to prevent another catastrophe, and possibly an all out war.

Lieutenant Colonel Martin Davies checked his wallet one more time. In it, snuggled between several other nations' currency, was $250,000 in Gordonopian Dons. Davies had no Damfordine Notes, or anything even remotely relating him to Damford. He looked around the fuselage of the C17. Fourteen psychologists and forty-two support staff were there as promised. However, there were also two teams of Damfordine DEMON special forces operators. Even the psychologists didn't know it - they were all pilots, flight stewards, ground crew, or logistics captains. It was assumed that they would be returning on the flight home. They would not be.

The pilot gained clearance from the tower, and the plane landed without incident. A few Gordonopian soldiers attempted to approach the plane, but were turned away by the only two uniformed Damfordine soldiers on the flight.

In the dark, a few men were able to sneak off into the dark recesses of the airfield. They split into three teams - Davies' climbed a fence and stole an unmarked white van from an auxiliary lot. From there, they drove into the city at the speed limit, unassumingly, into the heart of the less fortunate areas.

In the morning, Davies and one more man donned jeans and t-shirts and set out into the city. There were men on the street corners overtly handing out Communist leaflets. Davies took one. He looked at the man and, leaning in close to his ear, whispered, "I can help your cause. But I need to talk to someone with authority. Where can I meet him?"

The Glorious Republic of Leafanistan

We would like to express our thanks to our ideological allies in Biotopia, to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of United Gordonopia. And we agree with their disappointed outlook onto the situation currently unfolding in Gordonopia.

Unfortunately I have to point out that the views currently held by the United Gordonopian government, the Central State of Agrandov, and the Republic of Damford shows a failure of leadership in those states. It's clear these views show that the leadership of these states have not been able to adopt an objective view of this conflict as should be expected from the leadership of such authoritative states.

On the 11th of August, Prime Minister Gordon Smith issued a ultimatum that was essentially an order for a minority group to flee, or face ideological cleansing. An act of genocide against a dissenting political party. In my nation, no political parties are banned and yet despite a civil war many years ago and many ideological differences since then we've settled them in a peaceful fashion with international mediation.

The United Gordonopian leadership says this is for his country's security. This act of mass intimidation is barbaric and will lead his country and his people into war and the eventual large loss of civilian lives.

To describe the acts perpetrated by the United Gordonopian leadership we find ourselves at a loss for words. Can we call this genocide when he threatens to remove a group by hook or by crook? Can we use the terms 'ideological cleansing' and 'right-think enforcement' to describe the act of removing a dissenting viewpoint? How many more must die, how many more must flee their homes, their father's homes, their grandfather's homes before we can describe this for what it is. Terrorism and genocide against his own people.

Now the United Gordonopian leadership says this is a defensive act, but how can brave people yearning for the democracy and freedom, those ideals held dearly in the West, act when they are oppressed? All patriotic citizens must stand up to defend their freedom without compromise of their ideals. And how do we expect the international community to react? With support and smiles? No, they've instead acted with cowardice and pettiness, afraid of any dissent to their 'right-think'. And while a few brave nations stand up against this, they're demonized as 'communists', and 'evil', large blanket statements that these hypocrites spew when they're against an enemy they dislike. The actions of the Communists is to be expected when they've been shoved and intimidated like this.

However, we must respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of United Gordonopian. So to help facilitate the forced migration of these ideological refugees being cleansed from their native land, we're hereby giving Leafanistani citizenship to all Communist party members seeking to leave United Gordonopia and extend that to include their immediate family.

These statements made by Prime Minister Gordon Smith are nothing less than statements of terror toward his own people, and are completely unacceptable. So if indeed we would like to find a military solution to this conflict, then let us try to find serious political solutions, and not indulge in propaganda, even if perhaps some politicians would like that. Let us choose the path of peace.

We ave issued the ultimatum in hopes that it would minimize, or get rid of the uprising. It has helped, about 36% of the communist population have fled. The others,as we have seen for the past year with captured communist who had committed crimes, are so brainwashed that they would be impossible to negotiate. We recently captured a high ranking communist member. We attempted to negotiate with him with one of our best negotiatiors. He tried to strangle the man before he was shot. Public message to the Government of United Gordonopia

As of three hours ago rebels began to officially attack your country as you are well aware.

Unfortunately you cannot claim complete innocence of this.

You were performing a purging that was unjustified as all members of the communist party who had taken up arms in the last rebellion were either killed our captured by Ursavian, Gordonopian, or other forces. You assumed that these people would act in the same way and thus broke from all laws that preserved human rights and began to force them out of the country without any second thought.

The Ursavian government holds high respect for sovereignty of any nation but we also hold human rights dear. We frown upon your actions but realize your cause. Your cause is…questionable at best and your execution of how to solve the problem presented to your government: atrociously done.

We regret to inform you that we are only confirmed about our embassy and thus that is all we shall defend from any communists or other rebels who dare to cross the plot line.

If you grant us permission, the team will be deployed by whatever means you prefer and shall initiate the operation against the communist forces within your country.

Official(?) Statement

The State is the organized authority, domination, and power of the possessing classes over the masses the most flagrant, the most cynical, and the most complete negation of humanity. It shatters the universal solidarity of all men on the earth, and brings some of them into association only for the purpose of destroying, conquering, and enslaving all the rest. This flagrant negation of humanity which constitutes the very essence of the State is, from the standpoint of the State, its supreme duty and its greatest virtue Thus, to offend, to oppress, to despoil, to plunder, to assassinate or enslave one's fellowman is ordinarily regarded as a crime. In public life, on the other hand, from the standpoint of patriotism, when these things are done for the greater glory of the State, for the preservation or the extension of its power, it is all transformed into duty and virtue
- Mikhail Bakunin

With much of our patriates suffering under the iron fist of the People's Republic of Spain we are currently fighting against to free Iberia from tyranny, it is a difficult question to support or condemn such actions, for we stand for freedom and against all forms of tyranny, be them from left, right, center or whatever. When the self-entitled communists of the Stalinist fraud have brought the death of more than 60 millions in Spain, of more than 600 millions in China and it stands as the most brutal, mass-murdering political system of history, we shall take a cautious stance into either supporting or condemning these actions. Sometimes, a dictatorship of the "proletariat" can be infinitely worse than a Reich, and thus, should the only reason for these drastic measures be the prevention of such totalitarian State envisioned by the false communists from ever happening, we may reluctantly support it, even though we consider your government questionable and leaning into a dangerous path of authoritarianism, it continues less worse than another soviet police State as of now.

But should you ever take a slippery slope into despotism and commit comparable atrocities to those of these pseudo-communists, we will have yet another name to add to our black list of totalitarian police States. We hope that it shall never come to such point and that freedom might shine fully into your nation.

Finally, we shall not accept any Stalinist refugee in our territories. They have reaped what they sowed, and if their true goal was to have absolute power over a nation rather than being more of delusional fools thinking that a dictatorship is the road to an Utopia, then they got what they deserved. Still, the sooner this ends, the better.

When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called "the People's Stick."

"Good evening. I'm John Prose, reporter for ANN. Here in just a moment the President is set to take the stage behind me," he turned, gesturing towards a raised stand in the Presidential Palace. "...and make a speech addressing the recent Communist purge in United Gordonopia. Ah, wait a moment, here he is now!

President Chris Rescudo walked onto the rise, and stood behind the podium. He adjusted the microphone, and glanced at the crowd before beginning. "Citizens of Aglorea and those around the world, I thank you for your time. As many of you know, the communists in United Gordonopia are under attack, and may soon become the victims of genocide. This action is due to the rebellion one year ago, in which our forces engaged. Our nations bled together, feared together, and found victory together. We aided them because the rebels endangered our men and women in our embassy. We did not fight because they were communist. We fought in defense.

"Now, however, members of the communist party have begun to fight again. Because of this, Prime Minister Gordon has ordered them all to leave the country or they will be killed. Due to the threat of military action, I have ordered several soldiers to be placed in the embassy to defend it from anyone who attacks. If we are attacked by the rebels, the rebels alone will pay for harming us. If they attack, we will not harm innocent civilians who share their ideoloy. If United Gordonopia moves to kill any innocent people for their embracing of communism, it will be the beginning of a genocide.

"It is for this reason that I plead with the Prime Minister to cease hostilities against communism, and instead focus on the true enemy, a small sect of the communist party that wants control. I am speaking of course of the rebels. The rebels must be stopped, and we will of course aid in their destruction if we are given proper reason. However, we will not sit by and watch innocent civilians murdered by government officials. Thank you, my fellow Agloreans, and goodnight."

He stepped off of the stage and returned to the Palace as his secretary took his place to answer questions.

Finally, the team began to move out, hoping to find any rebels who would fall for their ruse.

Despite our anti-communist natures we cannot allow this near-genocide to pass.

We have sent twelve men from our best detachment of Special Forces to meet up with any rebel groups. We fed a lie to Gordonopia that we were planning to trick the rebels but instead we plan to help sneak them out of Gordonopia. We have picked up satalite images of your advanced fleet moving towards the Gordonopian coast. If you are willing to bring transports danger-close we are willing to load as many rebels as we can on each Zodiac rubber raft and take them to your ship for a safe and secretive recovery. If you agree we would also need several other small boats in order to make this process much quicker than it would be with two simple Zodiac rafts.

We have cruise ships that are ready to take on these civilians and our military ships currently have no overflow capability. Therefore the S-100 helicopters on the Independence class ships will recover these people. Load the rebels onto the beach as our ships approach and we can ferry them to and forth from the beach to the cruise ships.

We have extremely accurate guns that will ensure your safety.

We appriciate this and we are sure that the pro-communism civilians and non-fighting anti-government figures who have never taken up arms against it will thank you even more. We also find comfort in the promised accuracy of your guns and you can be assured that we will save as many pro-communism, non-combatant Gordonopians as we can. On no condition however, may you inform anybody that you rescue or any government you talk with about our aid. It would in fact be best if you have your military and government officials 'not know' that this operation ever occured and only those directly involved may be allowed to be informed who it is aiding with the evacuation.

"What is going on?" A frightened woman asked in Gordonopian.

"We're getting you and your family out of here." An Ursavian commando replied in the same language.

One man, his wife, their two sons, and their daughter who had a piece of shrapnel that had severed several nerves in her right leg were the first to be in the process of rescuing. Upon a thorough search of the apartment, no weapons had been found save for a pistol which was locked in a safe and the man explained that it was self-defence; the team told them they were being rescued.

One soldier carried the girl who looked up almost lovingly at her uniformed rescuer...who just looked ahead with a stone-solid military stare as they group slipped out in to the night. It was only three of the twelve. The others had already reported in with their first families at the beach not that far away.

"Thank you...mister." The young daughter said weakly as they left the partially damaged building.

They approached the beach, a collapsable gurney was set out and the girl was set on the gurney where another man applied morhpine and began to do quick field-surgery while the radio-man sent a burst transmission to the Leafinstanian ships.

The S-100's redesigned airfoils were efficient and quiet, and against the night sky they were nearly invisible. The pilot's FLIR revealed the refugees and commandos easily.

It came in low to the ground and threw up a cloud of sand as it came down. 5 Marines quickly dismounted with KF15 'Fulcrum' rifles and RPG-29. With night vision sets and decked out rifles they quickly established a perimeter. A machine gunner on each end of the helicopter moved their .50 cal machine guns in search of possible enemies. Behind they were two medics with MP7 machine pistols. The medics had little red LED penlights, their low energy light would mean that red would fade quickly into the night and not harm their night vision either.

The medics swept through the crowd quickly and reached the two critical injuries. They waved a hand over to the marines who helped carry the two injured on board. The medics began running a synthetic blood replacement to the man to keep him alive long enough to get to real blood on board the littoral combat ships.

The marines came back and said, "We can take 9 more at most or else we can't lift off. Round up the injured, women and children first."

Another one of the marines went to the shoreline and removed a small pen laser. He looked at his portable GPS unit and pointed it out to sea and flashed the laser.

A red searchlight on board the littoral combat ship responded.

The marine came back and whispered to the marine in charge. In the meantime the helicopter lifted off.

"We're here until all these guys are gone. We can also resupply you from the ship. What kind of guns are you packing?"

Another marine came up to one of the commandos. He held out a bandolier with 5 large tubes on it.

"These are 57mm one shot rocket launchers, same kind used in rocket pods, kicks like a mule but that kick keeps you from getting a face full of exhaust."

In the time it had taken to authorise the dispatch of Agrandan Peacekeepers, it seemed that the situation had exploded. Violence was escalating, and letters alternating between support and condemnation had been pouring in from the international community. It seemed, however, that the majority of communications disapproved of the measures taken by the government of Gordonopia. It had been decided, eventually, in the highest chambers of Agrandan government, that measures should be taken to prevent or at least delay a Communist uprising in Gordonopia.

A large military transport was approaching Gordonopian airspace, flanked by two of the ageing F/A-89Ms that the Central State Air Force still had in service. These escorts broke away as the transport - with it's contingent of two hundred Peacekeepers - made it's way to a civilian airport that had reserved a runway for the craft. Such flights would be arriving hourly in order to maximise the Agrandan presence on the ground, with fifteen flights bringing in two thousand Peacekeepers, one hundred APCs, one thousand support and engineering personnel, supply trucks and the materials to construct a base on the outskirts of the capital. They would police the capital, Gordonopia City, and do their best to break up riots or protests without civilian casualties.

Each one was wearing the standard LORICA body armour, and was armed with a K28 Automatic Rifle with an under-barrel 40mm grenade launcher. These was for firing teargas grenades in order to control riots, although lethal munitions were on hand if required. The ammunition they were equipped with was fragmenting to minimise collateral damage, although each soldier carried two magazines of armour-piercing rounds in case. They were exceptionally well equipped, as The Central State spared little expense in regards to the military. Only experienced soldiers had been selected for the mission; they would be more than a match for the communist militia.

Their main purpose however was to protect the people, whilst the Gordonopian government dealt with the Communist rebels in the manner they felt apt. The peacekeepers had a secondary purpose however, which was to minimise the international forces involved in the situation. The Gordonopians were making things worse by actively inviting foreign forces, but the Agrandans were keen to make do. They had express orders to not fire unless fired upon, though once aggravated their training, equipment and experience would neutralise their attackers with the minimum of fuss.

THE CENTRAL STATE OF AGRANDOV
One State. One Party. One Future.

Communication.

TO ALL NATIONS CONCERNED WITH THE SITUATION IN GORDONOPIA.

The first deployment of Agrandan Peacekeepers are en route and will arrive at the primary airport in Gordonopia City in approximately 30 minutes. They will form a protective formation around the airport in order for more Peacekeepers to enter Gordonopia. These forces are here in order to protect the civilians from collateral damage in case of fighting between the military and the rebels, and they will disarm any un-uniformed force they encounter as illegal guerillas.

The best efforts will be made to avoid conflict, but any hostile measures taken against the Peacekeepers will be seen as an act of war against the Central State. Should they be engaged by a uniformed force of any kind, war will be declared.

4 miles off shore in stealth boat

The S-100 touched down, but as the refugees wanted to step off, the crew on the boat held them back. It was only to refuel, after that the helicopter would continue at 400ft above the water's surface, hoping to fly under the RADAR to the cruise ships, which were within range of the helicopter.

Men dragged a large fuel hose to the helicopter and began refueling it. In the meantime another chopper took off as GLI-76 jump jets kept watch around the ships.

The second chopper turned and headed toward the beach for the next batch.

The red searchlight on the Independence class boat blinked again.

OOC: I can fix that.

The night before

As the last of the refugees loaded up, the final helicopter touched down. This one was not a S-100, it was an Mi-8 painted with Soviet roundrels. As it touched down the Marines did not pay it any heed, they acted as if nothing had happened.

24 heavily armed men emerged in generic black outfits with large piles of ammunition. They were carrying G36 rifles, and RPG-7s as they quietly unloaded. They weren't mercenaries in a clear sense. They weren't being paid at all, just armed, and none of them were Leafanistani citizens. In fact none of them were citizens of any country. They showed up as refugees in Leafanistan owing to its liberal asylum laws and all of them ended up in state hospitals.

These were violent men, products of a deadly culture of warfare that gripped the world. Children of massacred fathers and raped mothers they grew up on a battlefield, exposed to the horrors of war until they finally saw it no more. Amoral and bloodthirsty but oddly loyal, they quickly formed self protection gangs that delved into brutality. They could never mix back into society, at least that was the psych report and they were set to being deported before General Resources Conglomerate bought the lot of them.

Now they were guns for hire, but not for profit, just to keep killing. Their mission, the reason they were provided with both Soviet and Gordonopian markings was to make sure this conflict never ended. Their guns were manufactured with no markings or serial numbers, and were purposely assembled from a mix of foreign surplus, domestically produced, and colonially produced parts to make metallurgical analysis difficult.

The Mi-8 took off, it would later be thrown into the ocean, hopefully it might even wash up on Gordonopian soil.

The men slapped on Gordonopian soldier's markings and marched into the nearest village.

As they approached they took out their MG3 machine guns, aimed them, and opened fire. Thousands of rounds went screaming downrange, along with rocket propelled grenades and thrown grenades.

Just as quickly as it started it stopped and the men went into town. They stacked up and moved down the street, shooting anyone who looked dangerous but leaving enough people alive to see who they looked like. Then they'd disappear into the countryside to hide out for several days and prepare for the next part of the operation.

The GSFA operatives moved silently through the forest. When they reached the village, they saw to there horror dead bodies lying everywhere. Buildings had huge holes, and many huts lay completely in ruins. The few they found alive where completely traumatized. What they had been told, at least the part about the attack, was true.

The GSF immediately began searching the entire region for the ones who did it. Eventually, they found some ground that had been tramped on by feet in a field. They followed the tracks and it led them to a cave.

"Move in" The commander said as he ordered his 20 men to assault the cave.

They silently sneaked in, and around the fire, they saw men in unmarked military uniforms with markings of both Gordonopia and the SS around them. The commander gave the order to fire. They killed all but one and captured the last. After harsh interrogation, he revealed that they had been sent by Leafanistan to continue the war.

Rocks near the beachhead

This is near where they landed originally, and from their vantage point, they could just make out the village they had shot up. Night was falling and as they watched the government react they started working. A few men kept watch as the rest prepared for the second part of the plan.

They tore off their Gordonopian tags and burned them and slapped on Soviet System tags. They each put on a black beret with a hammer and sickle. Their guns were reloaded and cleaned and they hunkered down for the night.

A white searchlight appeared on the horizon, flashing something and the men responded in kind with a LED flashlight of their own. It's piercing white light cut through the night. And as soon as it appeared, the white searchlight was gone.

"ok men, move" The captain said to his 20 man group as they silently moved in on the rock. As they reached visual range, the teams sniper aimed his sight on one of the men, wearing soviet system markings, and pulled the trigger.

The man's shoulder went up in a cloud of gore and various bits. He retained enough sense to scream bloody murder before the sniper's flash was answered by a flurry of rockets and machine gun fire.

A flash came from the sea, as a single Tomahawk missile lifted off.

Just as suddenly a smoke grenade cloud went up, and another, and another, thick red smoke rising into the air, thermal opaque to keep any infrared sensors out of play.

Occasional tracers emerged from the smoke cloud. A man could be heard screaming as the gunfire slowly came down to two guns firing at them.

In the minute the firefight had started the 550 mile per hour cruise missile had covered 10 miles and burst open. Hundreds of submunitions flew out, a schizophrenic mix of regular explosive shaped charges designed to drive through thin armor, fragmentation cases designed to sent thousands of hot steal fragments into personnel, and zirconium ring bombs designed to fragment and set the beach on fire.

In about 2.6 seconds after they were released they had reached 6 gs and armed, a second later, they all started going off. Millions of shards of steel, hundreds of jets of liquid copper and thousands of flaming zirconium fragments coating the beach, causing a massive smoke cloud to form from the millions of tiny sand clouds formed by the debris.

The unit tried to run but one caught some shrapnel in the leg and fell to her agony on the ground. The bone was shredded and scattered on the beach, a testament to the effects of cluster bombs. One man stayed for a short second and handed her a G36K, a 1911, and a single grenade. This was her final duty to her group.

He quickly ran off into the rocky shoreline, using the crags as cover.

"Holy Shit, what was that!!!" the Captain screamed. He heard no reply. He'd been hit twice in the leg, and a third time in the arm. "Whatever it was, how could the SS have something like that!!"
He began crawling with one arm through the forest. After around 4 hours, he finally reached the town. The townspeople saw him and immediately, several of them ran to help, a few stood back, still thinking that the Army had done the killings. He was able to find a phone and called his commander, telling him what had happened.

The girl was limping back. Her leg had been stabilized with her medkit and the barrels from an abandoned machine gun. She finally reached where the shoulderless man made his last stand. His charred bones cracked to ashes when she poked them with her rifle.

She continued across the beach, eventually tripping over another body. It was one of the Gordonopian special forces. The damage from the cluster bombing was vicious. Half his skull was burned clean off, and the rest was shredded by the fragmenting cases. She stole his patches, took of her Soviet ones, threw the beret at the sea, and continued limping toward town. She eventually found a blood trail.

She put her hand to it and to her lips, it was blood indeed, and it was dark, meaning whoever it was had left a while ago.

She followed the blood trail into town, shouting that the Soviets had struck and there were traitors in the army. Her rifle's safety was off.

They tore open her shirt and something clattered. A pin fell on the examining table, tied to a string attached to a button. Suddenly she stopped screaming and crying and just sat there.

The doctor looked into her eyes, they showed no emotion, it was like she was already dead. He leaned in to check her pulse, and a heavy thunk hit the ground. She blinked.

A Hurtful Thoughts manufactured Thermobaric grenade had clattered to the ground, missed by the militiamen, and it went off with a powerful blast. The grenade was manufactured to level multistory concrete buildings and bunkers, and worked especially well in any confined space. A massive wall of fire would burst out, engulfing everything, followed by an overpressure that could collapse concrete.

Conversely, what are the Soviets going to do when they think Gordonopia is on the verge of genocide and they get accused of killing Gordonopian soldiers?

As the second night fell the remaining men waited on the rocks. Soon a prototype stealth boat appeared on the horizon, it's infrared searchlight illuminating their night vision kits.

One soldier responded with his red LED pen and the boat pulled up. They threw their gear into the boat and got in, the boat began to go out to sea at a low speed to maintain it's stealth.

"Send him in."
Captain Richardson limped in. He had a lot of bandaging on one arm and one leg.
"Mr. Prime Minister, some people say that this was the SS's fault. Some say it was ours. It wasn't either. It was someone else. When we where fighting the people who had done it, they where wearing SS markings. But reports say people wearing our markings attacked the village. While I am sure that they where the ones who did the killings, I guarantee they where not SS. During the battle, a cluster bomb went off. A cluster bomb more advanced than anything we could make. The SS has a vastly smaller budget. There is no way they could have a cluster bomb that powerful. It had to have been someone else."
"Well, from what you have told me, it seems to be someone else. But we cannot afford to investigate right now. We would first have to complete the rebuildings. Than we have to consider something. This nation obviously has a far superior military to us. What would happen if we invaded? I'll tell you. We would get crushed. The situation has become unbearable to our forces sitting offshore. We detected a cruise missile launch into your nation, and our satellite recon showed that there were many dead bodies afterward. Later in the day, a massive explosion went off in a village close to where survivors from this atrocity went.

We know the Soviet System does not possess Tomahawk cruise missiles and it's proximity to your shoreline tells us this may be yet another act of genocide on suspected communists. The town that was later bombed is extremely close to the attacked village.

We're discussing with the Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs whether peacekeepers are necessary in your country.

You misunderstand, your nation is dangerously unstable, with the Soviet System on one end, and genocidal leaderships and dissents on the other an international presence is necessary to ensure that this type of situation does not repeat.

They're not a threat to your sovereignty, they will merely be deployed in rapid action squads based on offshore assets with fast moving armored personnel carriers. They will respond within an hour to any major threat in your country to hunt down the perpetrators.

We're only interested in the safety of the people.

We also have a notice from the few hundred Gordonopians that made the mass migration, they are lobbying for peacekeepers to let them return to their homes which they think rightfully belong to them and not someone who has brownnosed their way up to your political cabal. Our Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will have no problem meeting us to get a peaceful, international end to this dangerous situation.

However he requests that we do it aboard a naval vessel from a neutral party in United Gordonopian waters. He wants to be close to the people he wants to protect and to emphasize how close the situation is. He feels that talking about it in an air conditioned conference room halfway around the world is inappropriate for such a rapidly escalating situation.

A modified AgustaWestland EH101 took off from an airbase outside the Transmetropolitan Special Administrative District, where Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had just arrived from a cross country flight on a Gulfstream. Inside the Foreign Minister settled into the executive transport, it had an actual sealed room and a restroom that wasn't a chemical toilet, outside, two Republican Guardsmen shared a bunk bed arrangement and a toilet for the long cruise ahead.

He took off his shoes, changed into the provided pajamas, turned out the light, and turned on a noise canceling mechanism. He removed a classified dossier given to him before he got onto the helicopter and settled into the night to read it. In a few hours he would turn in.

Meanwhile the 6 man crew began shifts, in 3 hours they would refuel with an A-4 Skyhawk Tanker from the Algeristani Colonial Air Force, in another 4 hours they would refuel with a long range maritime reconnaissance tanker, and finally 3 hours after that they'd refuel for the final time from a Higgs Coastal Colonial Air Force tanker before meeting up with the fleet.

At that point the Foreign Minister should be awake enough to land on the Leafanistani Command Ship, a Robert A. Heinlein class Destroyer to enjoy breakfast with the captain. After that the Northern Baltic fleet would have arrived, and he would take a short hop over to their command ship to begin negotiations.

The Prime Minister prepared for the negotiations. He got himself dressed and then entered his sedan and headed for Teva so he could inspect the fleet, just in case. Once the North Baltic ship was spotted on radar, he would get on a destroyer and go out to meet it.

Richard Glass decided to take a quick nap while he had the chance, and did so. When he awoke, he would once again be negotiating the fate of Aglorean interest in the region, and was really looking forward to it. He loved the process of negotiations, except when they went wrong, which rarely happened as long as everyone was intellegent enough to realize the situation.

Off of United Gordonopia
The United Worker's Republic Fleet docked a mile off shore. The 50 vessels of the fleet were arranged in a formation around the flagship: a massive supercarrier which was now cleaned for the soon-to-be-arriving ambassadors. A message was sent to all the involved parties that the meeting was ready to begin.

The Foreign Minister set down his fork and knife, the remains of scrambled eggs and sausages lay at his plate, and same with the captain. He slowly used the napkin to wipe his face as the Captain stiffly sat there trying to enjoy himself. Two Republican Guard in black and red uniforms just stared at him, making him extremely nervous. At the same time Sergei felt bad, he had tried his best to reassure him, but like all military men ready to impress he though his strict discipline would impress the most. He stood up quietly and thanked the Captain for a splendid meal and a rather peaceful setting.

The helicopter landed on the supercarrier, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov went to meet his counterpart.

Prime Minister Gordon stood on the deck watching the carrier get closer and closer. The size was relitively similar to the Perkins class Carrier of the Gordonopian Navy. The only difference was that he was sure that the Northern Baltics had several, Gordonopia had 1. Finally, when he reached the Carrier, he moved over to the other carrier to were the negotiations where to take place.

Ambassador Richard Glass climbed aboard the helicopter and he was soon away from the embassy, moving towards the carrier. Eventually, they touched down, and Glass, flanked by two armed men, moved towards the nearest officer on deck to ask for directions.

On the Ulyanovsk Class Supercarrier
The ship's emergency meeting room had been taken over for the occasion. Signs on deck pointed their way to the meeting room, where The United Worker's Republic's two delegates, both sat waiting and engaged in light conversation. All around the room, monitors showing the strength of The United Worker's Republic showed military exercises and speculated research and development projects in different areas of the UWR.

All weapons were checked at the door. Four United Worker's Republic marines stood around the room, while the UWR delegates sat in the center seats of the rectangular table. The negotiations were ready to begin.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sat down and quickly shook his head. He stood up, stared at his barebones chair, and picked it up. He carried it out of the room, and to the side of the ship, where he chucked it overboard. As he walked back he snapped his fingers and his guard carried a handsome mahogany chair back to the room. He sat down, took off his shoes, and preceded to sigh contently.

Then his other bodyguard returned with a basket full of various fineries, expensive Severnya Glacier Water, can after can of Beluga caviar, black as night, rich smelling smoked salmon that left a heavenly smell in the air, and even expensive crackers packaged in gold foil. Emerging from the helicopter was a waiter, who quickly began preparing everything including silverware.

When he finished this spectacle he tasted the first hors d'œuvres. With a knowing smile he clapped his hand on the waiter's back and waved his hands in the direction of the other delegates. Everyone but the United Gordonopian delegate soon found themselves staring at a very expensive small spread.

"Now that we're all settled in, we can begin the diplomacy." said Lavrov, as he rested his feet on the table, his left foot pointing at the United Gordonopian delegate.

"You certainly went all out," Glass said, slightly suprised. "This whole ordeal seems to be between you two," he gestured towards the Gordonopian and Leafanistan parties. "So, you guys should begin this little party. Then we can enjoy these gifts."

OOC: I have things to do, and won't be back for a little bit, so if you guys both happen to be on, start things without me. I'll jump back in when I can.

Sergei whipped his feet off the table, his chair slamming forward and along with that his arm. "That's unacceptable" he growled at the Aglorean delegate.

"This entire ordeal is not about you, me, or anyone but the Gordonopian people, we're just incidental players in their quest to achieve freedom. Whether we oppose or support that is entirely up to you gentlemen."

"You got yourself involved! You tried to completely obliterate our reputation by accusing us o something that we don't even have the capability to do, and than you say it's all about us! How do we know you weren't the ones who slaughtered the village, who missiled our soldiers, who bombed the town! You're the ones pointing fingers, how do we know it's not an excuse to attack us!"

Sergei slammed his fist forward again, the glasses all shook from the force of it, and a bit of water (exactly $12 worth) spilled from his cup. His waiter leaned down and wiped it up.

"This accusation against us is completely unfounded. We only got involved because of your terrorist ultimatum against your own citizens. These were their own people, and I'd like to remind everyone here of that fact, these were their own people, and they were told to have 1 month to pack up their entire lives, leave the place of their birth, and go somewhere else."

He leaned back into his chair and smoke with less volume, but with more venom inflected in his voice.

"Can you imagine being told that your home, the home your grandfather built with his bare hands on pennies a day, the home your father was born in, the home where he married your mother, and where you raised your family, isn't yours. That because you believe in, or are associated with an ideology, that you don't deserve the right to even live in the country of your birth. In the country you helped build, by a criminal government, so corrupt that only fear and intimidation hold it together."

He opened his arms and his voice was now warm and inviting.

"Nations of the world, we have to remember why we fight, and what we fight for. We fight for justice, freedom and democracy. We fight for the natural rights of all human beings, regardless of ideology, race, religion, or orientation. These natural rights built our nation from our oppressors, these natural rights are what High Father died for in Xilanhot Mountain, these natural rights were everything your forefathers craved when they rose up and said 'No!' Today I sit here, not as a representative of the Glorious Republic, I sit here as a representative of all the free peoples of the world."

He stood up now, his chair sliding across the floor, making a squeak. He stuck his arm out at the guards at the door.

"These soldiers that stand here are free men. They fight for other free men, they fight for the right to live fairly regardless of their skin color. They fight for the right to go to any church they please. They fight, tooth and nail, so that others may believe and express whatever they feel. They die so that free men may live and prosper."

"I ask each and every one of you today, does that man sitting there."

His arm shot out at the Gordonopian.

"Is he a man that believes in freedom? Does he let newspapers publish what they want? Does he let parents raise children in peace? Does he protect the rights of the people he claims to represent?"

Sergei leaned forward, staring at the Gordonopian delegate.

"That answer is no. His genocidal regime threatened the lives of thousands which we had to evacuate, and I thank whatever God out there that we got here in time. His regime made that terrorist speech and their press, so cowered in fear of him, could not stay unbiased about the inflammatory and illicit nature of those words and simply made a quiet remark, hoping that the free men, like you and me, would not notice."

He stood back up, redid his tie and brushed his suit.

"But we did, and at first we tried to use our gloves. We simply decided that if we could just relocate these people, regardless of the fact that they've had their entire lives stolen from them, all their hopes and dreams of a future in their country dashed by a short paragraph by a despot, that future violence could be avoided."

"But that wasn't the case, instead they massacred those who were left, they murdered even more with a cluster munition, and then bombed those who tried to help. There is no other way it could have happened. It is time for international peacekeepers to enter Gordonopia, to enforce the peace."

He paused slightly.

"It is time to reallow the resettlement of all those forcibly removed by the illegal act of Prime Minister Smith back into their homes, and for international peacekeepers to ensure they will live their lives freely and without violence."

"Well now," Glass began. "If you're quite done, I'd like to put in a word. First of all, to get the record straight, I was not making accusations towards you or anyone about this ordeal. I was referring to the higher tensions between your two nations. Now that that is cleared up, we can move on to the more important issues at hand, which you just summed up quite well. Prime Minister Smith's actions were terrible, perhaps a crime against humanity, even. However, I am not sure peacekeepers are the answer to the problem. It could potentially cause even more violence, something we are here to prevent!" He paused to take a breath and let the others respond.

Sergei put his hand through his hair sighed and leaned forward.

"The strength of my speech, is the strength and passion I feel for my job. The strength and passion that made me a politician, and I can think of no other way to keep this situation from spiraling out of control."

"If we leave it alone, who knows what will happen? Will another town go up in smoke? Will more cluster munitions, emboldened by our inaction as we grapple with words, find their ways into the hearts of children? Will more groups, perhaps Catholics, or the Jews find themselves suddenly homeless?"

"Procrastination ruined us as schoolchildren. I'm sure all of us can remember missing an assignment or doing poorly in class because of it's tempting nature. We must not fall prey to its temptation. We must act, and with an international group, they can all balance themselves out to ensure no group has a disproportionate power."

Glass thought for a short moment. "Of course," he said, calmly. "Something must be done. While peacekeepers are one option, I am not sure it is the best option. Of course lives are at stake, and the beliefs of a people are in danger. The question is, then, is there any better option that can be reached?"

Sergei paused to quietly enjoy one of his treats that he had brought with him. He washed it down and wiped his mouth with a monogrammed napkin. Then he tossed it at the United Gordonopian delegate.

"While that is true Delegate Glass, peacekeepers are just that, peacekeepers. They will not be allowed to engage, they're only defensive. They'll keep atrocities like this from happening, and many of them will end up being university students with degrees in Peace Studies in white APCs with a few blue helmets around."

Glass let out a sigh. While he believed peacekeepers may be the only option, he had hoped there would be an option that would not risk the lives of other nation's citizens. "If you truely believe peacekeepers is the only option, then I will not try the persuade you otherwise. The President will likely authorize peacekeepers from our nation to aid you, if you are willing. But we must be careful not to anger the citizens there with a military presence, whether it's a peacekeeping one or not."

"We would be willing to send as many troops as needed for the job. Our people would love nothing more then to protect the citizens of United Gordonopia."
