Operation: Foxhole (FT ATTN Xiscapia)

The Hyperborians were bored.....very bored.

They had no areas to conquer and they were now very bored..........which was not what anyone wanted outside the Khanate.

with Very few enemies to fight............The Hyperborians were now going to find a fight, or make one against somenation that was a good target.

Well one group was good..........The Xiscapians.

The kitsune were a race of Fox Demons (in the minds of the Hyerborians, who evoled from wolves) and were more like The Vixienians, before The Hyperborians Conquered them. So the Hyperborians thought they would be easy to beat in a Invasion of Xiscapian Space.

a Force of 2 Togogawa-Misatyusiha Class Star Dreadnoughts (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=562249), 30 Rin-Shi Class Cruisers, 20 Ninbal-Rangalra Class Destroyers and 16 Jil-Shi Class Frigates with over 5,000 Night Raven Space Superiority Starfighters and 300 Ginga Bombers, with a Ground Force of 160,000 troops, 100 Kimbolra Walkers, 80 Land Destroyers,100 DAR-172 Armored Battle Hover Tanks, 2,000 Swoop Bikes And1,000 Horse Droids, was massed for the first target, The Dolosus System.

The Attack of The Hyperborians was to start as The Force soon Jumped into Slipstream and headed for the Target.

"Is the fleet alert and ready?"
"They await only your command and someone to shoot at, Governor."
Dovenhawk nodded, muttered his thanks, and switched off the intercom. The kitsune stepped up onto a beige platform across his office and nodded to the soldier manning the console. The soldier gave him a thumbs-up, and saluted as Dovenhawk vanished away.

They didn't know, Dovenhawk reflected on the bridge of his flagship, the Dominator class Battleship XIN Remembrance, who these people were, where they came from or why they were here. Of course, judging by the mass and estimated types of the incoming vessels the answer to the last question was obvious, and as long as that stayed constant the other two didn't matter, at least in Dovenhawk's mind. The Governor was not, technically, an Admiral any longer, but he was the best Admiral at the colony, and anyway he'd be damned if he sat back and watched someone else have all the fun. He stood with his hands behind his back, admiring space as he often did these days: Planetside work only made him miss the cold field of stars all the more.

The fleet was set up as such: The two Battleships, Wrath and Remembrance, at the front, with the three Destroyers, Triple Zero, Resolve and Destiny below and slightly behind, the two Cruisers Sorrow and Impend above the Battleships but behind even the Destroyers, with the Carriers Saber and Unifier at the back, making a solid wall to hide the Medical Ships Forewarned and Dream. Normally rules of war dictated that combatants did not fire upon civilians, the unarmed or medical forces, which the medical ships were all three, but many disregarded these as options for the weak and the Xiscapians took no chances. In various hangers small craft were waiting, engines hot and weapons loaded, for a crack at the enemy.

Dovenhawk turned now to survey his bridge crew. He was a tall, slim kitsune with brown hair, tawny fur, and orange eyes. His skin tone suggested his parentage were of the pale Padgan decent, sallow and milky white. A navy blue katana sword rested comfortably at his hip, shining with polish as he looked over their grim, steady faces. He knew they were all loyal and competent, and in the unlikely chance of defeat, would fight to the end. They were going into combat to defend their families and homes, and that would give them more fire than the most bloodthirsty of warriors.
"It's time," he said quietly, "to kick ass," he stared around, face grave, "and chew bubble gum." His officers stared at him as he smiled. "And I'm all out of gum." he whispered.
The kitsune pounded their chests. "HO-HAA!"
Dovenhawk grinned widely. "Let's kill some fools so we can all go home, boys and girls."
They would not find the Xiscapians a weak foe.
Let them come.

In Slipstream

One had to say it, Slipdrive was better then Hyperdrive and a lot for easy on the Ship's NaviComputer. All and all, The Hyperborian Warriors were getting ready for the Invasion of Dolosus and to take on The Xiscapians.

The Offical Reason was that The Hyperborians were invadeing out of Boredom, but the real reason was for something else-Something that the Hyperborians wanted more then anything.

Metals and Gems and works of Art and other Priceless things. In Short, They Planned to Sack The Xiscapian Empire for Treasure.

something The Cimmarian Samurai Order hated. The Cimmarians would only go if The Great Khan, Ayame, was in Danger, in fact, 2,000 Long Ranged Cimmarian Fighters were ready in case of Ayame being attack.

Because She was at The Front, leading the attack.

Knowing Ayame, the Cimmarians would have to rescue her from the Trouble she would cause and try stopping the Counter-attack that was to come.

If it was treasure and riches the Hyperborians sought, they would be sorely disappointed. If, by some accident, they were able to breech or destroy the defensive line and make it to the planet, they could ransack the Governor's mansion and local banks for credits and items of value, but Dolosus was not a particularly wealthy world. They had no mines for silver, copper, gold or gems, nor were they a center for great art or manufacturing area for currency. The attack would not pay for itself by the bounty they would get if they survived long enough to see it. Dolosus exported agriculture, some weapons and droids and little else.

The concept would have been entirely foreign to Dovenhawk if anyone had sat down and explained the Hyperborian motivations behind the aggression. He could understand going to war for conquest, or to get slaves or because one's religion demanded it or to target natural resources or even to simply remove an irritating rival or smaller nation before they became a threat. But to attack purely for financial gain was counterproductive. It had probably cost billions, if not trillions of dollars to build any one of the ships about to assault them, and they wouldn't get even half that from what they might gain here. Not to mention the cost of fuel, paying the crew, buying the munitions and repair for damaged vessels afterward.

For now, though, Dovenhawk was content to wait. He sat in his command chair and watched, aware that the Scanning Officer would see the enemy well before he would. The weapons and shields were up, the pilots were ready to go, everyone was at their battle stations and alert, the formation was laid and communications checked and rechecked, there was nothing more to be done. Perhaps the enemy was writing their last will and testaments and making peace with their heathen gods. They would need to, because once they entered the system there would be no time before the fire washed over them and swept their souls away to the Forgotten Realms...

The Fleet was nearing the enemy System, The Hyperborians were already Prepareing for a Surprise for the Xiscapians, who were no doubt planning their Defense against The coming horde. Many were praying to the Gods of War and Victory for them to send the enemy Xiscapians to the Underworld, where they would fear Yami no Jo'o, Godddess of Darkness and Evil and The Main Punisher.

Ayame knew that what she had planned would be a Surprise also, As the Fleet was now about to exit Slipstream.

"Prepare the Missiles," She ordered from the Deck of her own Star Dreadnought, the Togogawa-Misatyusiha Class ship Death's Hand, as The Fleet was now getting ready to exit.

Soon they entered The system and Dropped out, Appearing to the enemy Viewing the as they were De-cloaking, Appearing out of Nowhere, But in Fat, they were out of Slipstream.

Then the missiles were fired, two thousand missile were fired once the ships were dropped out of Slipstream. The Missiles Spead to the enemy and then did something that was a surprise. they blew up Between The two Fleets and soon a Pink Cloud fourmed. It was covering the Fleets, a Type of Flak that would be good against Missiles and since the Cloud had Nano-Mirrors, be good also against laser attack.

The Hyperborians were Challageing The Xiscapian with a Simple Message.

"Come and Get us."

over The CommUnits on a Open Channel, Howlling started up as a warning to the enemy.

Point-defenses were already swiveling when the missiles were launched, but as they completed their turn they didn't fire, the gunnery crews and bridge officers watching as the missiles exploded, spreading some kind of strange gas between the two fleet. It spread out, and Dovenhawk could see their plan. It was a barrier of some kind, or maybe a field: Perhaps though this their scanners got better readings, maybe it did something to weapons or a certain kind of weapons when fired though, perhaps it was a swarm of nanobots that would viciously attack anything that entered the cloud. Whatever it was, Dovenhawk knew how to deal with this sort of thing.
"Fire one of each of our weapons at the cloud, scan them carefully. I want a message ready to go out within this minute."

First a simple laser was fired. It hit the cloud and dissapated. Same with the Ion Cannon. The MAC shells and railgun rounds disintergrated against the cloud, as did the missile. So. It was a barrier, a wall. Dovenhawk doubted it could stand up to a steady, consistant barrage of anti-matter missiles, or a Superlaser for that matter, but he didn't have the ladder and was loathe to waste the former so he considered alternative options. This was something they had covered in the textbooks, back at the XIN Academy, although the scenrio had been asteroids, not some gas cloud. Same basic rules applied, although they had the added bonus that they could see the enemy though the barrier.

As the howls came over the communications Dovenhawk instructed the Communications Officer to send out a message on an open broadcast to the enemy fleet:
Unidentified craft, please state your origins and intentions. Power down all weapons to show compliance. Failure to do any of the above mentioned will result in your destruction.

"The Nano-Bugs have worked well," The Commander told Ayame, "Their weapons are haveing a Hard Time trying to kill The Nano-Bugs." The Hyperborians were well known for their Organo-Mecha Technology, which these Nano-Bugs were.

"My Mother!" a CommOfficer said (note: Lower Ranking Officers call Their higher ups 'My Father' or 'my Mother' in The Hyperborian Military.) "We are getting a Trasmission from the enemy."

Ayame read it, "Well, Lets send a return Message." She said

The Rin-Shi Class Cruisers soon started moving to the Cloud of Nano-Bugs and then stopped, and Fired Their large Plasma Cannons into it.

Like Blue Comets of Fire, The Plasma hit The Cloud, causeing The Nano-Bugs to be killed, Melting from the Plasma, while from the Hole that was being made, Long Ranged Turbolaser and Torpedo fire started up from the Cruisers.

and Behind Them, The Fighters were coming.

The Night Raven Space Superiority Starfighters were Crestsent Shaped Fighters, Armed with Six Fire-linked Laser Cannons and Four Torpedo Launchers. they had a Twin Ion Engine that made them fast and Deadly.

Their Cockpit was like that of a Vulture Droid, but unlike The Droid Starfighters, they had two crewmembers, a Pilot and a Gunner, and they were well Trained in dogfighting.

Back up by fire from The Cruisers, The Fighters were heading for the enemy Fleet to attack their fighters.

"...the hell?"
Dovenhawk stared. The enemy's tactics made no sense. Why erect a wall just so you could destroy it? It was slowing the enemy advance down as they burned their way though it, apparently unable or unwilling to enter the cloud with their vessels. Dovenhawk made a mental note that the things probably were nanobots of some kind, and filed it away for future reference. As they drew closer and closer he nodded. "Wait for it...wait for it..."

The gunnery crews and bridge officers all over the fleet watched with bated breath as the enemy Cruisers and fighters drew closer and closer, still a gulf of space separating them and the Xiscapian craft, but too close for comfort...
The first of the enemy broke though, fighters swarming towards them. Kitsune looked to Dovenhawk, but he shook his head, waiting until the Cruisers began to come fully into view-
"Now! All craft, open fire!" Dovenhawk shouted over the vox comm to the other Captains.

A massive salvo of 2,500 AS (Anti-Ship, made for destroying small craft) guns, 1,290 Ion Cannons (The Ion Cannon knocks out all electrical systems where ever it hits. It can leave fighters drifting helplessly in space, and knock out vital systems on frigates and capital ships), 45 MAC cannons (A very powerful projectile fired from a capital ship, this gun can easily breach shields or smash armor in a few shots. It is the only physical projectile weapon aside from the Orb and Missile launchers used in the XIN. It is found on the bigger capital ships, and as planetary defense. The MAC gun has proven ineffective against most shields, but can rip though armor that's feet thick, firing shells the size of large cars), 19 Heavy Ion Cannons (The Heavy Ion Cannon works like a regular Ion cannon, except this is aimed to shut down capital ships. The Ion Cannon is technically a particle cannon, firing beams of ion electrically charged so as to damage automated and electrical systems. It is used to leave the enemy ship drifting helplessly so Xiscapian SBAUs can take it, or it can be destroyed. The Heavy Ion Cannon does only light damage to armor, but kills shields quickly and disrupts electrical and computer systems), 45 Heavy Guns (Heavy Guns are made to destroy capital ships. They can utterly destroy frigates, fighters, gunboats and other smaller ships in a single shot. The lasers are highly effective against both shields and armor, charged with heat equivalent of that of a sun combined with nearly faster-than-the-eye-can-follow blue-white beams), and 88 Light Guns (The Light Gun identical to the Heavy Gun, excepting the fact that it fires faster but is weaker. It is made to target ships of frigate/gunboat size, and the beam can be focused to a point to strike a specific spot on a ship or planet). This bright, multi-colored weapons fire of mixing blues, whites, reds and grays was followed by a barrage of five thousand missiles, four thousand equipped with antimatter warheads, the other thousand with high-yield nuclear bombs. All were headed for the enemy Cruisers and the fighters in front of them.

The enemy had made a fatal mistake. The murderous fire before them would rip them apart, no ship save a super capital could stand up to that. If they tried to turn to avoid it, they would be consumed by their cloud of nanobots. If their shields collapsed or their engines failed, they would make for easy prey, and those on the other side of the cloud behind them would be hit as well as the fire tore though. Dovenhawk hoped to destroy their entire fighter and Cruiser force, which of course still left the two Dreadnoughts and their support of Destroyers and frigates, but maybe the enemy would be so badly shaken they would see fit to retreat...

The enemy was thinking big thoughts, a big mistake.

Over 120 Fighters were destroyed and 3 Rin-Shi Cruisers wre Disabled, but the enemy was still in for more surprises.

The cruisers had a Three Layered Shield System for good Protection against enemy fire and The First Shield was a New Shield Type, a ion Shield, made to handle Ion cannon Fire, The other Two were Projectile and Rey Shielding.

But The fighters were getting Hammered by enemy fire, they Returned Fire with Long Ranged Torpedos against The enemy Ship Dovenhawk. The Torps had Ant-Matter Warheads on them.

But The enemy was soon seeing other enemy Ships now on The Attack, fireing Missiles, Torpedoes, Turbolaser Fire, Ion Cannon Fire and Beam lasers gong at the enemy Ships.

But the final Surprise was now ready

"Lower the Solar Blockers!" Ayame Ordered, the View Ports on all Ships soon Darkened and then, 4,000 Missiles were launched as the spead off to the Xiscapians, till they Blew in a Bright Light

Flashbang Warheads of a Type thet Hyperborians had known as 'Novaflash' as Bright as a Nova Blast, these would cause the Sensors to go haywire on the enemy.

"Well, It seems that Sacking this nation is not good enough," Ayame said, "We are going for Total Conquest NOW!"

XIN Remembrance...
Dovenhawk watched in satisfaction as explosions blossomed in patterns, marking the destruction of entire formations of fighter craft. The engines, or whatever propulsion they used, on three of the Cruisers had failed or been destroyed and they were drifting helplessly, doomed to either fall into their nanobot cloud or be shredded in the crossfire. The problem with using shields which were each specialized towards a certain weapon was that when a barrage of weapons such as this were fired, say a Ion shield would be significantly weakened by projectile fire, and vice versa, not being equipped to handle it. It was not as effective as he had hoped, but their first advancement had stalled and now their surviving front lines fighters began to fire off torpedo's, all aimed at the Remembrance. "Point defenses," he said calmly.
"PDs firing now, sir." came a bridge officer.

The laser cannons and missile launchers covering the Xiscapian ship began to fire, destroying incoming torpedoes before they could reach the shielded ship. The anti-matter detonated spectacularly, washing over other missiles until there was a rapidly dispersing field of explosive fire between the kitsune fleet and the cloud. A few made it though before they could be intercepted at a safe range and were destroyed too close to the shields, making them flare and dropping the power a couple of percentage points.

The missiles and torpedoes continued to be destroyed with a ninety-eight percent success rate, but now other weapons were incoming. Ion and laser fire streaked from the Cruisers towards the fleet, lancing beside ships and away or splashing against the force fields that protected the hulls.
"Shield status?" asked Dovenhawk.
"Shields have fallen to ninety-one percent, Admiral," came the report. "All other craft report damage within the fifteen percent range, no penetration."
"Very good-"

As the huge blast of pure light washed over the Xiscapian fleet cameras on the outer hull immediately dimmed and some went entirely black to protect their viewers from being blinded. Indeed the sensors began to report anomalies and several of the cameras had been knocked out, but it did little to restrict their viewing. Scanners continued to give full, uncompromising readings, not being susceptible to light. Dovenhawk grinned and pointed.
"Quick! Another salvo!"

Once again the guns opened up all across the fleet, recoiling in their mounts and glowing with heat exhaust or friction as they let loose. 2,500 AS guns, 1,290 Ion Cannons, 25 MAC cannons, 11 Heavy Ion Cannons, 20 Heavy Guns and 60 Light Guns were fired, but this was not the mass attack they had brought unto their enemy before. No, now they prioritized their weapons to the best of their functions, beams criss-crossing crazily as they targeted different vessels on separate planes. The AS and Light Guns targeted the fighters, a storm of energy flying for them, while the Ion and MAC cannons fired on the still-functioning Cruisers and the Heavies blasted away at the relatively distant Death's Hand, from where they had traced transmission emitting from and assumed it to be the command ship.

Meanwhile, closer to the planet, a ring of sensors began to transmit, sending out signals apparently to nowhere, calling into the void...

“Admiral on the bridge!”

The crew of the Dreadnought APS Vulture stood to attention and were swiftly forced to their seats again as a tall and rugged man entered the bridge. He walked past the saluting Captain and his first Officer and peered over the balcony at the screen in front of him. He knew that they were out of range of the battle but then long range scanners had detected it.

“You’re sure of what you’ve detected?” He turned to the middle-aged, fearsome looking Captain who nodded in confirmation,

“Yes Sir, two weapons signatures coming from the Dolosus System, one is Xiscapian, the other is unidentified. We’re keeping track of them with subspace scanners”

The Admiral, whose name was McCarthy, nodded grimly then stared ahead again at a fleet heading at maximum speed towards the battle zone. His own Dreadnought, one Battlecruiser, five cruisers of which two were heavy and three were light, an AA/AM Cruiser and five destroyers made up a powerful force, each with their own compliment of fighters. His small command was only in the area for training and minor anti-Pirate sweeps. Now his fleet was on full alert and he would have to try and join on to the Xiscapian force defending the sector. He had already sent a report back to Alversia detailing his movements and now his crew, battle hardened and capable, were at battle stations and waiting the command to launch into battle in defence of Alversia’s oldest and closest Allies.

McCarthy was one of Alversia’s senior admirals. He had seen dozens of wars, campaigns and expeditions during his more than eventful career. He had patrolled the Alversian DMZ for years, fought more types of ships than he cared to mention. He had seen it all, and done it all. He was getting close to retirement age now, an Admiral’s pension being more than enough to live on for the rest of his days but now those thoughts were irrelevant. His main battle force would the pair of capital ships as well as the pair of heavy cruisers while the others were there to protect them from the fighters that would swarm the battlefield, although the pilots and fighters of the excellent APNAF should be more than capable of accomplishing that role themselves. McCarthy would send his thirteen ships and join the Xiscapian line in battle.

The aging Admiral ran a hand through his greying hair, feeling the deep scar within his scalp as always. He could not remember who had caused it or when but he could remember whoever it was had an axe and they were not happy. Now was not the time of the past though, now was the time of the future and who the Xiscapians were battling in defence of their home again.

“Sir!” The Vulture’s Communication’s Officer called, “We’re getting a signal from the Xiscapian Fleet! It’s a set of co-ordinates!”

“That’s our curtain call people” McCarthy replied, “We have been summoned. Let’s not disappoint. Full power!”

With that, the Alversian fleet pressed on.

Meanwhile, closer to the planet, a ring of sensors began to transmit, sending out signals apparently to nowhere, calling into the void...

on The Death's Hand, The Capitan smiled as the enemy Continued it's Attack against The Hyperborian Fleet. The Command Ship had Strong Army and now was useing The Nano-Bugs were beng used as flak to Protect the Ships. a few more were Disabled.

But The Flash Missiles had worked, it was to keep The enemy from Finding out two things.

One was that The Landing Ships from Both Star Dreadnoughts had used it to get around The enemy Fleet, with over 300 Starfighters protecting them.

The Other was The 300 Bombers that had Climbed up when the Flashbangs gone off and were now Above The enemy Fleet, and Diveing on the Dominator class Battleship XIN Remembrance. 100 Bombers soon Dropped Ion Bombs (a type of enegry Bomb that acted like a ion Cannon Blast) on The Ship, like the 200 others Dropped Anti-Matter Bombs fallowing them.

The Battle was not over yet, While the battle was going on, Ayame sent a Message for Renforcements, in the form of 45Rin-Shi Class Cruisers, 30 Shal-Baosi-Fan Class Heavy Destroyers and 12 Trainsi-Nambal Class Anti-Capital Ship Corvettes were being sent from The world of Fanbail to renforce the Invasion Force.

As the Hyperborian bombers continued their attack, a series of Alversian fighters spun into position behind them. Green Wing were now behind the cloud of bombers and revealling in the easy target that was bombers in their attack runs. The XX-32's spun and twisted through the formation, picking their targets, firing bursts then spinning on to a new target. The rest of the fleet was not far behind.

At the same time, the Landing Craft were ambushed by the vanguard of the Alversian fleet, one of the Light Cruisers, the AA/AM Cruiser and all five of the destroyers, along with a swarm of their own frighters, now dived into action, firing their ReFrac beams at the Landing craft. The beams were an Alversian weapon and were quite complicated with three types of crystal that combined into a fierce beam-like weapon that could cut unprotected ships to ribbons. Now they attacked into the Landing Fleet, the bigger ships able to ignore the fighters while the fighters mixed in with their own battle.

The Landing Ships were well Shielded and Armored, but a few of them were blasted out of space.

But They wree also Armed with their own weapons. Two Turbolasers and Anti-Fighter Laser Cannons were soon going off.

More Bad news for the Alversians was that they were useing fighters. Finaly, at lest someone thought of fighter dogfights. Ruby Leader thought as her Ruby Sqaudron, along with the other fighters started to attack the New enemy Fighters.

As for the Main Fleet, main Ships were being Disabled or some destroyed. but The Star Dreadnoughts wre now closeing in on the enemy Battleships. The Fleet was going for Point-Blank Range. The Fleet headed for the enemy Ships in Full Force of Ion Cannons, Missiles, Topedoes and Laser Fire.

XIN Remembrance...
Dovenhawk watched, now grim, as another four Cruisers went down in face of the Xiscapian barrage. They were doing quite well, but it wasn't enough, not for a fleet of this size. They may have stopped trying to advance, but were now sending small craft and transports at them at an alarming rate. The Admiral sighed in relief as he saw the Alversian fleet they had called for intercept the enemy attacks, moving in with speed. "I want our PDs concentrating on all small craft within range. Release half the small craft, they are to reinforce the Alversians to form a protective screen between the main enemy fleet and Dolosus."

As the Ginga Bombers dove for their attack runs they were fired on from behind as the Alversian XX-32s swung in and began to take them down. Meanwhile the Remembrance's point-defenses swiveled and fired "upward", harsh lasers of light and energy, coilgun turrets and missiles erupting to meet the enemy. The fire also destroyed most of the bombs, though some snuck though and were able to reduce the shield strength to eighty-two percent. Once again, the enemy was between a rock and a hard place: Going down would only get them destroyed by the maelstrom of PD fire, trying to go back would run them right into the hands of the XX-32s, spiraling out back towards their fleet would put them in range of the Remembrance's heavier weapons, and going in towards the rest of the Xiscapian fleet would force them to brave the PDs of the other vessels.

Out of the hangers of every ship save the Medical Ships Forewarned and Dream poured small craft, 129 fighters, 52 patrols, 12 corvettes and 100 drones streaked away to the battle that was commencing some distance away from the Xiscapian fleet. The drones reached them first, and the exact intent became clear. The drones and fighters attacked the Night Raven escort fighters while the patrols and corvettes assaulted the transports. Lasers and missiles with anti-matter warheads were used, mainly to destroy the engines on the transports so the Allies could destroy the vessel at their leisure. It was, Wing Commander Carth thought, perhaps a bit of overkill, but they couldn't allow any of the enemy to reach Dolosus. The attackers were stopped here, no compromise, no retreat, no surrender. Meanwhile Dovenhawk messaged the Alversian Fleet:

Greetings Alversian fleet. Hostiles comprise of some 2 Dreadnoughts, 23 Cruisers, 20 Destroyers and 16 Frigates with an estimated 4,000 fighters and 300 bombers. Advise you concentrate on their back fleet: We can hold their Cruisers, and the forward Dreadnought is mostly likely their flagship. If possible dispatch boarding parties to Dreadnought, and keep their ships held in reserve occupied. We'll join you once the Cruisers have been neutralized.
XIN Remembrance, Admiral Dovenhawk

The fleet fired again, an even smaller volley this time, 2,500 AS guns, 1,290 Ion Cannons, 15 MAC cannons, 6 Heavy Ion Cannons, 10 Heavy Guns and 30 Light Guns, all aiming for the various Cruisers behind and within the cloud.

.... 0900 Hours Strategic Space command Rapid reaction unit..

General caravel twiddled his thumbs , a cigar in mouth he stood watching events across the alpha quadrant and galaxy unfold, his hands folded in front of him as he anxiously awaited a vote on weather or not the Terran Federation should punish the steppes once more for their arrogant and foul attitudes concerning letting neutral trade ships through. A message came through with a sudden beep on the large command screen.Secretary of defense Carlos Santana was on screen, the older man with salt and peppered hair dawned a well pressed suit, and smiled diplomatically to the general who was awaiting his orders, his hand on the Defcon console.

Carlos bowed a bit and said with a voice reverberating through the crowded and busy command center.

“General, we have orders from the senate to send in two of our fleets, fully supplied, and several troop transport divisions, with mechanized reaction forces. Good luck General caravel and god speed “

The screen blipped off leaving nothing but a 3d holographic map of the alpha quadrant and the major powers with in it, multiple blips ran across it signifying several events and things... this is all he needed, he pressed his gloved hand down upon a holographic console, quickly bringing all ships in the 7th rapid reaction fleet and 3rd fleets to defensive condition one. He looked in to the screen and raised both fleet admirals Alexi, and fleet admiral duke, both men peered back to the general offering salutes, Alexi the chief admiral speaking for both fleets.

“Sir we are awaiting your orders, and are ready to mobilize with troop support.”

Caravel smiled crossing his arms over his pressed uniform saying. “Alright, its a good thing the third fleet was on exercises , it was already mobilized, at any rate I want you guys to head in to Xiscapian space namely the Dolosus system. , post haste, goo luck gentlemen”

Alexi saluted, duke as well they both blipped off of the screen, this was the start of a surprised entry of the UTF in to a foreign conflict involving interests, then again the Terrans Had been at defcon three for a few days now due to this situation.. the third and eighth fleet moved in unison, their Grey masses glimmering in the light of the star system they were mobilized in the command ship of both fleets, was the UTS Aries, a brand new highly advanced heavily armed cruiser, even more so than the Warrington class.

It was the first of its type in service, with several more on the way, the fleet was made up of many types of ships, including guided missile destroyers (SDDG) Hyprion class Destroyers, Fletcher class Frigates, warrington class heavy cruisers, several Prince of whales class battle ships and many classes of troop transports. The massive fleet began warping out, Void tunnels ripping open space and time to the out side of the universe, ships disappearing in to them in crackling spikes of energy, the fleet was on its way. Several moments passed, the portals opened up in the midst of the battle, as the designated RRF the 8th was their first the engines meant for instant jumps, the 3rd was lagging behind and would be there in an hour or so.. but 200 ships was more than enough to hold off an enemy advance. Alexi stood upon the bridge of the massive Aries class ship, flanked by several SDDG's Hyperion and warringtons , he smiled almost, but he knew this was going to be a tough battle, he noticed several other factions helping in the ongoing battle, they were still about an AU or two out.

Alexi waved his hand to the avatar who was behind him saying, “Launch all Valkyries, All dragon furies and all starfires. All batteries target the steppe ships, prepare to fire full barrage on my order! All ships advance, I want elements of the forth and fifth task force to brake of and out flank enemy units, make sure we have them covered on several sides , the rest of the fleet wedge! We're going right down their goddamn throats.!”

He barked out these orders, Battle stations were called, kalxtons rang as officers ran to their stations being held in to their chairs by grav fields , officers tense people hooked in to the immersive holographic environments to do their work. The entire fleet began launching smooth hulled fighter craft , of course this was the fleet with the thunder gryphon's squadron, Trent hawking's him self was flying an SA-40D super dragon fury, its engines white hot as it bolted out of the bay followed by multiple SA-40D's and C's SA-43's were rare and few in between the thunder gryphon's only had 8.

The wonderfully sleek bodies of the craft glimmered gently in the light, following in the same white hot screech and streak as the SA-40's towards point positions, trent placed his hands on the stick, manipulating it side to side up and down, his craft spinning strafing and barrel rolling as it streaked forward at high speed, he watched able to target things using just sight in a 360 look like he was flying in an invisible craft, the only thing in front of him were his controls , he used the SA-40's look all ability to literally see the space around him with out the obstructive view of the cockpit.

Ships barreled in, sudden flashes of light erupted, inside the ships people could hear crackling noises and energy discharges and rumblings of graviton drivers , crackling blue and white hot energy beams of firestorm cannons raced forth to the steppe fleet, thousands upon thousands of beams filling space with heat and energy, dark blue fusion beams and pulses of white energy followed in rapid succession adding to a cornucopia of color. At the same time as the energy barrage, thousands upon thousands of Polaris III and Titan I guided anti shipping cruise missiles with high yield anti matter warheads spewed forth from tubes, their yellow hot trails behind them as their engines guided these moderate sized high speed missiles towards their targets , graviton rounds had an orange hot hue around them as these slugs just flew in to space as c fractional speeds.

UIS-70 Valkyries were un-manned drone fighters, with the ability to maneuver much better than any other manned craft and to go much faster, and strafe at higher speeds , the oddly shaped space craft swarmed behind capital ships and fighter craft equipped . With experimental MIM-14 Nike Hercules Fusion anti fighter missiles, able to knock out multiple fighters or even whole squadrons at once, and missiles , the craft also contains two high energy point defense lasers, able to hit slugs and missiles and even bring down fighters as well.. hundreds of them maneuvered around strafing flipping as the fleet advanced space filled with crackling energy and bright colors.

During the battle a force exited hyperspace and remained outside of weapons range. It seemed to be drawn to the energy output of there weapons, it stayed still in space, scanning them. They hung like chrome ornaments in space. They had light blue letters painted on there sides, scard from war, the paint was torn, but one could make out the letters AIW on them. They looked at the force that had arrived and began attacking the other ships. They scanned for bio signatures. They awaited a response from the vessels.

Blackbird, blackbird..

Twenty two thousand kilometers above the gathered Federal Union strikegroup, a lone entity floated in the void. It was invisible in veritably every sense of the word; it's cyno-field shroud array was at optimal output, as was it's impressive ECM emission technology. Furthermore, it had masked itself conveniently behind the EM storm the Terran units were cooking up.

All she did was watch, however. That was, of course, her purpose. It was a Traileric Blackbird; a ghost amongst even the foremost espionage agencies of the Galaxy.

Within, the Imperial Hellenic Shade that called itself Attelos made minute adjustments to it's instruments, guiding the craft closer to the fight. It was a black shape the size of a corvette moving against a backdrop of stars, unnoticeable and unimportant to the firefight. A remnant of the tyrannical Traileric occupation that had only recently departed from Xiscapian territory.

The Hellenic Empire still had interests here..and those that threatened Traileric interests all met the same, inevitable fate.

The bulk of Alversian Casualties near to the Lander were caused by the AF guns but these were not enough on their own, nor the fighters, to prevent them from delivering DP bombs into the hearts of specific landing craft. Despite this, there were several Alversian fighters being destroyed by the storm of fire.

Many minds, advanced and far beyond the scope of the beings currently in the battle, had been watching this situation develop for some time now. They watched as the Hyperboreans began their march to conquest yet again, their subsequent attacks on enemy nations and had been amused by this situation. The Hyperboreans were proving to be a good plaything, as they nudged them in certain directions, to see what would happen. It had been well, but now, as they had nudged them towards Xiscapia, to see how the Kitsune Empire would react and how their plaything would do. They had considered the entry of allies but had dubbed that the Hyperboreans would send enough to make it a good play. However, the arrival of the Terrans had served to burst their bubble and they were not amused. They had not expected the Terrans to arrive, nor even stick their nose in this business. They were busy being decadent and securing their power in the "Alpha Quadrant". Why would they come here?

Fleetlord Gor'thaz snorted and turned to the pad next to him, as a strangely-shaped figure appeared. "It would appear, Fleetlord, that we have a potential situation on our hands. The Hyperboreans cannot possibly hold off the Terran force, especially not if it is combined with the other forces in the system. Your orders?" Gor'thaz glanced at the intelligent SAI, or Sapient Artificial Intelligence, then looked at the tactical screen. He had a force of one hundred ships under his command, a powerful force due to their mastery of technology. It would be more than enough to take on the Terrans, as strong as they were. He nodded to the SAI.

"Begin the jump. I want us to arrive and be ready for battle, so have the shields and weapons ready."

"There is an interdiction set up by the Terrans, it will block the drive once we hit the edge of it."

Gor'thaz sighed. "Then use the sublight drives. They are fast enough to get us past the field and into firing range." The SAI nodded and then activated the drives. A hundred ruptures in space open and then closed as the shining hulls of the ships disappeared into the void of faster than light travel. Within moments, they opened again at the edge of the FTLi field, being stopped from going any further. As per command, the sublight drives went to full, and to everyone's surprise, the ships began to make good time as they charged towards the Terran fleet. A mixture of frigates, cruisers, destroyers, carriers, dreadnaughts, and a couple large ships which could be only be classified as flagships, moved through space. The power signatures they gave off were immense and clearly signified a major foe had appeared. Two messages were sent out, one to the Hyperboreans and one to the rest.

To the Great Khan, we have come to aid you in your quest of conquest. We will deal with the Terrans. Focus on the others.

To all other forces in this system, this is your only warning. Stand down or prepare to be utterly destroyed. I will not say this again. Anything else but complete surrender will be seen as a hostile action and I will fire upon you.

The fleet began to move into extreme long range and firing solutions began to waver all over the Terran fleet. Gor'thaz sat back; they had time. He leaned back and closed his eyes, his mind interfacing with SAI, their minds becoming one, as they formed a Fleetmind to control the fleet and direct the battle.

XIW Remembrance Bridge...
"Holy shit sir! New contacts, new contacts!"
"What?! Let me see that thing, son!"
Admiral Dovenhawk took a look at the scanner readings backed up by the detection network covering the system. It showed a small collection of vessels further out, well outside of weapons range, and Dovenhawk grimaced as he recognized the structure, hulls and paint. AIW. The Greali had been sloppy, and those bastards were still around.
But by the looks of the two fleets that had just entered the system exactly opposite of each other, they had bigger problems.
"Inform me immediately if any of those ship at coordinates 394029 moves or opens fire," he ordered, turning on the vox unit and broadcasting to both fleets. Before he could speak, however, a message came though:
To all other forces in this system, this is your only warning. Stand down or prepare to be utterly destroyed. I will not say this again. Anything else but complete surrender will be seen as a hostile action and I will fire upon you.
"Send this message back to them," Dovenhawk growled. These people had picked the wrong sapients to fuck with.
Attention unidentified vessels, you have violated Xiscapian sovereign territory. Cease and desist or you will be destroyed.
-Admiral Dovenhawk

The Admiral elected not to send a message to the Terrans. He wasn't about to complain now that these new hostiles had shown up, even if the Terrans had so rudely come in without announcement or invitation. He turned to his own problems. The bomber attack had failed and the enemy attempting to make it to Dolosus had been shredded by the fleet's fighters and the Alversians. He could see reinforcements were incoming to engage the Alversian fleet, and knew they would have to fight tooth-and-nail to win this battle.

With the convoy all but destroyed the Xiscapian small craft turned to fight the incoming reinforcement fighters. They would remain in combat until either they were destroyed, their enemy was, or they were called back. The bomber attack failed, and for now no one was directly firing on the Xiscapians. Dovenhawk ordered another strike on the enemy Cruisers. Once again 2,500 AS guns, 1,290 Ion Cannons, 15 MAC cannons, 6 Heavy Ion Cannons, 10 Heavy Guns and 30 Light Guns opened up, seeking to eradicate the enemy Cruiser presence. A horde of a thousand missiles streaked out to them as well, half anti-matter, half nuclear.

Unless one of the huge fleets "above" the Alversian, Xiscapian and Hyperborian fleets was destroyed or withdrew, it seemed they would be in this battle for the long haul.

The Imitator fleet just sat there, they knew that this could lead to a battle and that they wouldn't survive a close up fight. They didn't care if the Xiscapians, or for that matter anyone knew of there existance in the system. They had there own agenda, and they could influence the battle. They hailed the Xiscapian fleet.

" We will wait till the matter is resolved."

The truth was taht the AIW wanted them to fight eachother, they could sweep in and begining beaming Imitator's onto enemy ships, to infect them and incorporate them into the AIW remanent. So they just drifted.
