Southern border, 3km from Settlement 13

Using the now evacuated housing complexes as a fort, the 32nd Border Guard Company had successfully repelled a Drakovian infantry attack, though sustaining heavy casualties. They were low on ammunition; many of the soldiers in the 32ndBG were fresh recruits. They were on a training exercise at the time of the attack, and their base had been destroyed by helicopter fire. They were unsure if the radio was working anymore, but they had heard that a Motor Rifle group was coming, along with a tank company.

"We have a problem."

"Continue."

"The Drakovians have broken through some lines, most importantly the one near the embassy city of Lipovic. Our forces are in full mobilization, but they may not reach them in time."

"Send some attack craft that way. They can stall them long enough for the embassies to be evacuated. Notify the other nations taht their citizens could be in danger, and that the air field in Lipovic is completely open."

"Understood."

Due to the situation at hand, we are requesting that you evacuate your citizens for the time being. If you do not get them in time, we cannot guarantee their safety, due to the changing war front.

Lipovic

Several BTR-80's from the 106th airborne and an OMON squad made it to Lipovic quicker then expected, and began securing the area. once they were in position, OMON units would evacuate the embassies.

"8th , 8th , this is Desant 4, can you hear me, over ?"

"Desant 4, this is 8th, I can hear you."

"Desant 8 we are coming up on the North side of the town, we will secure the first 5 streets, and will meet you by the post office, over."

"Roger, Desant 4 out"

The now dismounted soldiers could hear the reports from friendly BM-30 artillery. The Drakovians air power had been shot down, because they made the mistake of expecting a quick rush into the country. Most of the SRCP military was in the north-east, so reaction time would be slow.

"Desant 4, this is 8th, we are in position, over."

"Copy, out. OMON units, you are clear to commence evacuations."

The aide to the ambassador ran down the hallway toward the Ambassador's residence section of the embassy. Bursting into the residence the aide shouted at the ambassador, "Sir, The SRCP military issued a warning to us, their being invaded and can't guarantee our safety, we need you to leave sir."

"Well, Thomas, how do you expect us to leave, is the airport ready to fly us out of here?" responded the ambassador calmly.

"I-I don't know sir, I'll go find out right away!" stammered the aide.

"And let the Foreign Ministry back in Oseato know of the situation!" called the ambassador behind him.

As the OMON units went building to building warning the personnel of the situation, a convoy of BTR-80 and T-72B rolled down the street. The officer assumed that the battle was getting closer, and began to work faster. He arrived at the Oseaton embassy and urged it's occupants to head to the airfield.

Falkasian Embassy, Lipovic Embassy District

Deep inside the Embassy's communications room came an urgent message, translated from verbal into binary and then printed neatly onto a piece of paper by a teletype machine. It was torn off non-chalantly and read once, twice, then three times over. The operator could not believe what he saw...

Moments later, Security Chief Misha Semenov was running through the halls of the Embassy, clutching the paper in one hand and using the other one to clear a path to the Ambassador. Word of the impending danger had been spread ahead of him, turning the lobby into chaos as the Guardsmen began fortifiying the windows and doors.

Sprinting up the stairs and almost plowing over a maid, Misha eventually made it to the ambassador's study. His doors were shut and most likely bolted, so they only thing besides physically breaking it down was to knock politely.

*Knock*

"One minute!" a voice came from inside. "I'll be with you in a minute."

"Sir, this cannot wait, we have urgent news. If you let me in, I can show you."

A metallic scraping sound was heard as the deadbolt was removed and the door swing open. As it opened, the Ambassador appeared, one hand tied up with a phone, the other grapsing a pen. Shoving the paper into his hands, Misha hurried to his desk and began putting a few possessions into a nearby briefcase.

"We need to start packing now! The evacuation'll commence soon."

"Hold on there. Evacuation? Why are they evacuating us......" the Ambassador replied, the phone slipping out of his hand and dropping to the floor.

"My god..."

Yes, that would be quite ineffective. We would like to begin airlifting elements of the 13th Airborne and 5th Infantry Divisions in order to support you in throwing out these invaders. We would offer heavier support, but transporting an armored brigade by air takes quite a bit of time.

Near Lipovic

The mechanized force that had went past the embassies took up a defensive position before the enemy arrived. They only had 3 T-72's from a supply depot; most of the T-72's in stock were converted into T-90's. The ones in the depot were forgotten, and were a few updates short. When the first Drakovian units appeared, an RPG was fired at the APC, sending a ball of fire into the air. An enemy Leopard 2 fired it's main gun one of the BTR's annihilating it, while Drakovian soldiers rushed the hill where the SRCP soldiers had set up a fighting position. The soldier with the RPK cut down a few soldiers before the Leo2 gunner got him with the coax. The T-72's came around the hill and fired at the Leo2's, taking out 2 completely, and crippling a 3rd. The remaining Leo2 took out a T-72 before relocating and taking out another one. The last T-72 advanced and rammed the Leo2 and fired it's gun point blank, after which it was taken out by a enemy AT soldier. The SRCP soldiers wouldn't be able to hold the defensive line for long, but they were ordered to not retreat, under penalty of death.

independent news report;

"Heavy fighting broke out today near the Yuzno mountains, and it is confirmed that the Drakovian forces have been able to cross the river in some areas. Reinforcements are still on their way, and should make contact within the next few hours." the report cuts to a clip of SRCP tanks and transport vehicles moving to the battle, many of which are still in desert pant.

"I have just received word that the enemy forces have begun cleansing captured cities.. They have captured several residentual areas on either side of the river, and killing every-.." The power in the station is cut.

Sulfur River, Raven's Gate Bridge crossing

"Enemy forces crossing the bridge, blow it now!"

The entire length of bridge was rigged with enough Semtex at it's key structural points to blow it out of the water. A column of Drakovian tanks and APC's which had broken through massive artillery barrages was attempting to cross the bridge, since it was too deep to ford it, and crossing via water craft would be suicidal because of AT guns. When the demolitions crew flipped the switch, a deafening blast, followed by the sound of bending metal could be heard as the bridge split into several pieces, with tanks, infantry and transports falling into the river.

"The AT guns have run dry, call in an airstrike, bring it close!"

"HQ, requesting close air support at our coordinates, Ab15, out"

"Copy, aircraft are inbound"

Minutes later, a pair of Su-25 dropped bombs on the river banks and used it's cannon on any targets possible. The enemy had been annihilated at this crossing, however many of them had gotten across at places where the river was shallow, or where the military was low on numbers.

OOC: I heard you may be deployed to Georgia. You Russian, or Georgian? Either way, that sucks.

Once the Ambassador and staff were onboard, the CV-30 lifted off and began climbing rapidly to avoid any AA fire that may have been directed it's way. As for the other two, they dispersed upon completing the drop-off. The 40 odd soldiers on the ground began fortifying the embassy immediately after landing, hacking apart furniture to use as barricades and smashing out windows for fire-positions. They had been ordered by command to defend the embassy at all costs, but all that remained now was for the enemy to show up.

The information on the Democratic Republic of Drakovia is as follows;

The nations is a large country to our southern border, with a population between 990 million and 1.3 billion. Their primary language is German, and their estimated military strength at the time is thought to be around 7 million. While they have shown good tactics in past border skirmishes, their main priority at the time is advancing deep into the country. This has allowed our artillery to inflict massive damage on their infantry, but defense positions are easily overrun. At the beginning of this conflict they had no air superiority, due to the S300 systems, however they have been able to get small numbers of CAS aircraft to their front lines. Our main counter attack force is still hours from any front line, and are expected to reach them in the city of Triste.

The city was empty, save for civil guard volunteers, and some WWII vet with his sniper rifle. The bulk of the Drakovian forces were to meet up here, before continuing to the capital. As the first Drakovian units poured into the city, thinking it was abandoned, it began to rain bullets upon their forces, with the old man taking out a General from long range. The attack caught them in total surprise, and they had pulled back to a safe distance. The 3rd Spetsnaz Brigade, 300 T-72BM tanks and BMP-3 and a mobile artillery company arrived from the northern parts of the city. 1,000 regular infantry would arrive in another few hours

Skies Over Lipovic

1st Battalion of the 13th Airborne were up and ready to jump as their C-130's flew over Lipovic. As the jump light turned red, Colonel Dowling stood up and motioned for his men to hook up their static lines in preparation for the jump. "Everybody check their lines and their gear!" Dowling yelled over the roar of the engines.

As the ramp lowered the crew chief called out to Dowling, "30 seconds!" Satisfied that all was in order Dowling turned and watched the jump light. The second it turned green he threw himself into the night, the screams of "Go, go, go" fading behind him. For many in the 13th Airborne this would be their first combat jump. Several hundred chutes billowed in the night as several other planes unloaded their sticks.

Once on the ground the battalion rallied into their company groups and prepared to move out. They had a few klicks to go to make into the city proper. Once in the city, their first objective was to establish a rough airfield to operate from. so that follow on groups of paratroopers could be airlifted in along with some of the heavy equipment of the 13th Airborne. They would need to airlift all their forces into the country before being able to strike against the Drakovian forces. The Lipovic Airport would have to be totally secured before the 6th Infantry division could be deployed fully to the field, along with the sustained build up of the 1st Mechanized Brigade. It would take a long time to airlift armored forces into the country, but they would be willing to try.

By nightfall the city had turned into a hot spot of the conflict. Artillery pounded the Drakovian positions constantly, without interruption. They had attempted encircle the city, but came under attack by the reinforcing soldiers and were all but wiped out. They had tried to surrender, but the SRCP forces gunned down the enemy captives anyway. A Guards T-80U platoon went ahead of the combat site; the Drakovian's had advanced further then their supply lines could reach. The T-80's decimated ammunition, fuel, and supply lines, along with the reserves that were to relieve the force at Triste.

Morning, Triste

Scores of burned out T-72 and Leo2's littered the city. Sometimes in the middle of the night, the Drakovian forces made an armor assault upon the southern area of the city, dodging 152mm artillery fire on the way in. Obviously, uban settings aren't the greatest for tank combat, as both the SRCP and Drakovian forces were forced to turn around and use a different street once an enemy or friendly tank was knocked out, which the Spetsnaz and Civil Guard used to their advantage. They would set bombs in the sewers, and detonate them as the enemy tanks rolled by. This tactic, while overall ineffective, had trapped about 14 enemy tanks and IFV's inside a city district. The last of the RPG-29's were used on the tanks from high angles, and the IFV's were for the most part hit with grenade launcher fire and disposable RPG launchers. Some lightly damaged Leo2's were keeping several Civil Guard platoons from crossing a stretch of undeveloped land, acting as a MG nest. "The light weight RPG-18 is largely ineffective unless you fire it at the upper turret; the armor is relatively thin there." That's what the Spetsnaz commandos had told them. The enemy tank in question had it's front-left facing them, with the main gun damaged, along with a tread and a dead driver. An entire squad was mowed down in front of them, attempting to move a DShK machine gun to a new firing point. The leader of the group radioed about artillery support, but all the guns were over heated and almost devoid of ammo.

"Misha, do you have any smoke grenades left?"

"Umm.. yeah, Three left."

"Ok, here's the plan. You throw them as far as you can at the tank, except for one, that one throw to the left. Franko and Roman will cover that. Olya is going to throw a firebomb on the top of the turret, and I'll put a 125 round from that knocked out T-72 over under it, and blow it with Semtex."

The group went about the plan, the tank gunner open fired on the three before the smoke went off, and killing at least one. "Karl! reload the coaxle gun!"

The tank commander opened his hatch at the worst time; the Molotov hit the edge of the hatch and covered him in an odd mixture of burning gasoline and laundry detergent...

The leader of the group raced under the tank with the HEAT round from the tank, and placed it under where he thought the crew compartment was and strapped a small block of plastic explosive to it, with a 25 second timer.

When it had gone off, smoke began to come out of the commanders hatch, and the gunner and loader bailed out of the tank. They were met with multiple rounds from the militia.

The turn of events were now heavily in the SRCP military's favor. The Drakovians power was dissipating, as they were now short on essential supplies because of air strikes that the Air Force had conducted during the late evening using the reletively new in service X-02 "Wyvern". The aircraft was stealth, and can carry just about any kind of weaponry. Airstrikes, some of which were deep into Drakovia, had crippled their weapons factories, airfields and several power plants. To make things worse, the 12th Kolgujev Front was advancing to their border without interruption, along side a SRCP T-72B battalion. Once they met up at the Sulfur River, they would advance of the mega city which was the capital of Drakovia.

By midday, the 12th Kolgujev Front were in view of Megalopolis, the Drakovian capital city. Because it was likely that the enemy was going to make a last stand here, they would shell the city until more reinforcements arrived. By 1500 hours, all the artillery units were in place, along with many tanks loaded with HE shells. At nightfall, the attack began. there were about 70 BM-21 and BM-30 vehicles on sight, and 125 towed pieces, most in the 152-200mm caliber. In route were several TOS-1 and 2S4 heavy mortar carriers.

Just before dawn the shelling of the city had stopped. Much of it lay in ruins, and many streets impassible because of collapsed buildings. It was unknown how many casualties the Drakovians had sustained, both civil and military. The 1st Guards Spetsnaz Brigade had arrived shortly after, and would take part in capturing the city. The plan was to advance on the President's castle, located in the center of the city. It was unlikely that he was able to escape the city, because all roads leading out were bombed prior to the assault, and the city completely surrounded.

The first advance in 15 hours was about to begin, spearheaded by several tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. The 2S4 pieces were on standby, and woul be called in just like air support if needed.

Sporadic fighting ensued within the city after the attack, though the allied forces were able to push into parts of the city where the buildings didn't destroy the streets. Bombing runs were carried out further into the country, targeting the Drakovian's remaining airfields, power plants, highways, river port and military bases. Many Generals believed that the city would be under control within 24 hours.

Earlier today, the military has announced that the Drakovian military has indeed, been crushed. The last major battles took place in the east and western parts of the country, near the Reese oil fields, and in the Drakovstaad Industrial Sector, where the majority of their weapons production was located. Heavy smoke can be seen in the areas surrounding the oil fields, as many refinery's were destroyed in the fighting. Client nations of the companies that receive crude from here are likely to see an increase in price per barrel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed taht the area will be divided among nations, as Berlin during the Cold War. Nations interested in land stakes should arrive as they see fit. The refugees of Drakovia have been denied entrance into SRCP borders, and will be shot on site if they cross.

OOC: Alright gentlemen, before we go all crazy on each other I have divided up the map based on what C-P said. The regions east of the major river are divided by a smaller river, thus creating a natural border for the northern and southern portions in the east.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l151/UEF-Hokie/exclusionzonehd2xf22.png

In the west, in red, is the territory the Federation of Oseato is now claiming. I will be setting up a second NS country named the Protectorate of Southern Drakovia, which will become part of the Federation in due time.

I did not color in the other regions based on the fact that you two are currently have a small squabble over which area controls which, so I leave you to work it out. In the mean time, Oseato will enjoy the oil from southern Drakovia.

OOC: I would take the Northern Section of the West, then. I may make a new NS country called the Protectorate of North-Western Drakovia, with the capital in Megaopolis

OOC: Yes I was claiming the section east of the River there, so bascially the river is a natural border between the two areas we are claiming.

Oseato if you can do this after RBS and CP give the go ahead but I am fairly sure I have the story right. Thanks you seem to know how to do it.

In my claims I am assuming that the map as shown in the thread runs north to south top to bottom so adjust it to the area I am talking about.

OOC: Oseato thanks a lot mate, that is what I thought the claims were too.

I know CP will be withdrawing forces out next time he is on, and I suppose people will be taking this further IC of course? I will wait and see, or should we start a new thread, it really depends if people want to run this. I will be posting again within 24 hours just don't have time at the moment.

Gibberish America: If you mean the orange section, then no, that is the main area I wanted specifically, because I am feeling generous today I will allow you to have the southern part of my claim that is the part adjacent to Oseato's area (the red bit).

OOC: No problem guys, just trying to make it easy. Once USGA agrees with the territory he has been offered, and with CP's permission, I think I am going to create a more in depth map, one that shows all of Drakovia. I will also include all the puppet states so that the map can be used by all of us if the need arises in the future. (say that the colony rebels and you want to start a new RP based on it, etc.) All with CP's approval, of course.

I made a puppet nation, The Colony of Northwestern Drakovia, which is a colony of the Kingdom of the Royal British States.

ic:

While the SRCP forces were being withdrawn, they had received orders to set up a cordon along the newly defined borders. An improvised barrier was set, until they could build a proper one. The soldiers station there would be replaced by KGB Border Guards within the month, along with a tank company. While this was unnecessary, the military felt that after the invasion the border forces should be reinforced by armor.

You have permission to land at the Lipovic airfield, as it is closest to ut southern border. Alternatively, the Naszran airport is still open for civil use. You are free to recall your engineering teams, as we now are capable of handling the situation with available manpower

The Empire had been successful in making a claim over the eastern section of Drakovia, the area had being placed under direct control of the Emperor and the Royal Council, and had been proclaimed as the Protectorate of East Drakovia. In order to stabilise the area the Imperial Army was sending forces in to bring about law and order and to help rebuild the country as well as ensure that the oil fields are secured for the Empire.

The 12th Brigade had landed at Lipovic and had begun the trip to Matata which would become the administrative headquarters for the protectorate, other bases would be set up at Jackson City which is located in the south and Bremerton which is located in the far north on the Ceres Sea.

The 5th Combat Engineers which had been apart of Blouman operations while Chernobyl-Pripyat defended itself against the former country of Drakovia, reformed with the 12th Brigade, units apart of the 12th Brigade

133rd Signal Squadron
9th Calvary Regiment
2nd Tank Guards
4th Battalion Prince Royal (Mechanized Infantry)
2nd Battalion Emperors Own (Infantry)
5th Combat Engineer Regiment
9th Battalion IEME
23rd Coy. 2nd Rgt. IMP
25th Medical Squadron
8th Combat Support Regiment

On the way to East Drakovia commander of the 12th Brigade Brigadier Baron James Dewis his attention is brought to an urgent matter

"Sir in order for us to get into East Drakovia we will have to pass through Northwestern Drakovia which is now under the control of the British States"
"What? Damn, contact Land Command and get permission for us to pass through the colony"
"Yes sir"

Re: Possible port in Drakovia

We would like to purchase a plot of land for a shipping port/rail yard, as this will greatly ease the imports of various goods[before hand everything was brought in through a eastern neighbor, who's tax was heavy on rail use.] Should you accept, we will need permission to construct an attaching rail to the existing system.
