OOC Thread for Fungi War

Lynion

All OOC and descussion goes here and if we get enough support, we might do a bigger one to include more nations.

So basically what happens, Imperial Australia which is an independent colony of Lynion is doing medical break through's and it makes the cure for cancer and a few other viruses and other sickness. However, after the cure for cancer was found, it was pumped into a green slimy creature that had no life at all. This was the biggest mistake in their lives. The creature became known as the 'Fungi' because it ate everything that was related to fungus and meat. After awhile, the creature started to take the form of a mythical minator and was shortly put into chains. Everything was going smoothly until communication with the base was lost.

The Imperial Australia turned to Lynion for help but before any real help could get through, a detachment of Imperial Australites Commando's moved into the base with a camera guy alongside them. They passed through the base outer gates with ease but came into the complex to the most disgusting sight they ever saw. Limbs, organs and the blood of Humans covered the ways except one section where it was clean from dust. As the camera man turns around, one commando is gone and then another before long the squad of five comes under attack from minator's that have green slime covering them and immune to bullets. The camera then goes to global status and world news stations picks up the signal and its boardcast on all TV Stations.

The base is sealed off but wasn't fast enough as all communications to Imperial Australia is broken off except one transmission that gets sent out. The screen shows a rotting minator's head but still alive looking at the camera and it challenges the world to come and get them. In response to the challenge, the Lynion Air Force dispatches three squadrons (40 planes) of Hunter and Dingo Fighter Jets. However, the squadrons are met with a horror that nearly faints every single pilot. In response to the squadrons, mutated Dragonflies the size of an F-22 Fighter Jet are sent in response. This nearly wipes out the three squadrons but the Fungi weakness was found. A Hunter fired a napalm missile hoping to get a shot at the complex but the pilot instead shot down a dragonfly in one shot.

With the air strike a failure, the Fungi contiune to feed off the population of Imperial Australia and no civilians, military forces or government forces escaped the violence. During this time, Lynion workers developed the first napalm bullet which is a complete success when they halt a ground assault on mainland Asia while using napalm bullets. However, all of this effort is too late as the Fungi turns to two nearby countries and prepare for an assault.

This is where the story really starts. I'm looking for another nation or two to take part in the defense of their nations as well as allies to those nations and my own to dispatch troops. There is a limited amount of nations which is six at the most. If everyone likes it and wants a repeat, we can do it on a larger scale. Be warn, the Fungi can't be allied with because they don't talk and their actions are their military strength.

So any takers?

Everyone starts off with a transmission being sent out that makes live status on all TV stations around the world. Nations claim its kids hijacking the service but it comes down to plain view that it wasn't simple teenagers having fun. It then shows another shot where a minator challenges the Human Race to come and get them which fails. Countries go into chaos as people claim that the end of the world is nigh. The Fungi love chaos and because they can breed quickly and effectively. With many of the nations in chaos and its two cloest ones in even more chaos, they stage a massive blown out assault on the nations from all directions. But nations are to treat it like its the end of the world and an alien race has come down and wants to enslave the Human Race.

I'll totally be one of the countries defending myself if I know that I'll be getting support soon.
Lynion
06-08-2008, 13:56
you will be giving support by Lynion. If you want to, you can request ONE ally only. I'm writing down the units the Fungi will be using and their numbers will be around say 10 million but they'll breed off any dying or captured Humans. But really no-one knows about their weakness until the war starts.

06-08-2008, 13:58
The napalm is their weakness I assume?

After this war my country is probably going to have standard flamethrowers in all their units. :)
Lynion
06-08-2008, 14:02
Hey, play by the story. Weakness doesn't get found out until you get invaded. It makes it fair and better story line for everyone to enjoy
Ursava
06-08-2008, 14:10
It was a joke. You gotta imagine though, with all the burning rubble that's bound to occur we're going to find out the weakness sooner or later. Besdies that most armies already do have flamethrowers.
Lynion
06-08-2008, 14:16
Yeah. I mean you find the weakness as the creature attacks you. Once you attack one with a flamethrower, napalm or anything that uses a fire base, you can then state their weakness is fire. However, none are expected to fall against bullets because lead doesn't posion the body.
Ursava
06-08-2008, 14:22
That's not the premise of a bullet.

The premise is that is punches through your heart/brain/spine/lungs and whether it stays in the body or goes completely through doesn't matter that much if it hits one of those areas. Anywhere else it going through or staying in would matter being as you need to know in order to fix it. Besides that most bullets don't use lead anymore.

Sorry to sound picky but I was just saying.

06-08-2008, 14:29
Hold on, lets say it takes longer to kill a Fungi with standard bullets than it does with a napalm bullet. I'll do that to keep everyone happy but really, fire is their main weakness. Just don't expect to mow them down like flies.
Ursava
06-08-2008, 14:30
Oh yeah, that would be a given when you imagine the size of the original Minoutar in Greek stories.

you mean Incendiary Bullet
Ursava

Yeah, he probably does.

06-08-2008, 14:38
Oh, what about the 40MM Autocannons on my CV-90s and my Leopard IIs? Wouldn't they be just fine in combat being as a 40MM can tear a man apart and the Leopard II...well...yeah.
Lynion
06-08-2008, 14:40
I just say standard bullet because I don't know what military forces use around the world.
Ursava
06-08-2008, 14:42
Depends on what country in real life so it probably does here.

Like the AK-47 uses 7.62MM rounds while the M-16 uses 5.56MM rounds

Also, since you didn't answer I assume I don't need to worry about those two vehicles.

does the bullet contain naplam or a fire substance inside of it? If its a yes, then it can really damage a Fungi. If not, then it'll take awhile to kill one off.

read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incendiary_ammunition

and 50 Cal i know has that ammo

So your saying that two rounds which can both literally tear a person in HALF won't have any damaging effect until they start using Incindieary rounds? Dude, then this force is essentially impossible to beat save for fire because:

THIS (http://www.tommym1080.com/journal/tomsabotround.jpg) is what the Leopard II and other tanks fire along with several other types of rounds of the same size.

and

THIS (http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/MICVcart2.jpg) is some of the rounds the CV-90 fires with the one on the right being the same round as in the first picture.

They can and they'll be allowed to be used! I'm just saying with the standard infantry bullet, it takes longer than one that uses fire or explosives.
Ursava
06-08-2008, 14:56
I know but I was talking about my main-line tank and infantry transport when I asked the question:

Will they be like an infantryman's bullet or will it be sort of like how they are now?

I asked nothing about rounds from infantrymen and their effects.
Lynion

Ok, if they can punch a hole the size of a ball, football or something of a similiar size, then yes they can damage and eventually kill a Fungi Minator.

Is it to late to join in? Maybe as a support nation?
Ursava
07-08-2008, 22:35
Lord knows I need some support nations.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 22:43
And you know what weapon I think would work best? Fully Automatic Shotguns capable of firing Incindiary rounds like the USAS-12 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USAS-12)
Ursava
07-08-2008, 22:47
Yeah, but my country doesn't know fire kills them better and I don't think any other countries do either.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:01
Ah...Well i guess we'll just have to find that out won't we? lol
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:04
Yeah. lol.

I launched two Tomahawk cruise missiles at 'em and I'm currently firing shrapnel-loaded phosperous rounds developed by my own weapons company. lol.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:07
That should show that they burn easy. lol.
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:09
Yeah, but I'm at a range where I'd barely be able to see 'em. lol.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:13
True...maybe you should have some aircraft fly in and drop some missiles or bombs or something on them then as they're flying away they can see what happens
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:16
True, true.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:22
*sigh*. I don't like having to wait to join. lol. But it comes with the territory i guess. Its giving me time to work on my weapons atleast.
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:25
Well, you won't go in knowing they're vunerable to fire.
Alversia
07-08-2008, 23:28
Any room for me in this?
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:28
Yeah. I kind of figured that. lol. But as a support nation, the fastest way for me to come in is by aircraft, so have some fighters strafe the enemy, drop some missiles or so, and we'll see what burns :D lol.
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:34
Actually, bombs don't always equal burning, just explosions.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:41
hmm...good point. lol. But still, HE (High explosives) are heat, so the same thing should be accomplished seeing as how most bombs use HE. lol.
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:48
HE doesn't equal burning heat, just shrapnel and an explosion. lol.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:49
What do you think an explosion is? Ice? lol. Anything that explodes puts of heat.
Alversia
07-08-2008, 23:50
Never mind, forget I asked
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:50
Yes, but heat and burning heat are different. Heat doesn't always equal fire or incineration. lol.
Mt Id
07-08-2008, 23:52
i didn't say it did exactly...just close. lol. But if u want to be that specific, just drop napalm on them. That burns...a LOT! lol.
Ursava
07-08-2008, 23:59
No crap man! That puppy is da' bomb......no pun intended. lol.
Mt Id
08-08-2008, 00:01
No pun...ofcourse not. lol. But ofcourse, if i join i won't know napalm works on them yet. Fun fun...
