Ursava

Republic of Ursava is formed.
The previous government of Ursava, an iron-handed, pos-Soviet dictatorship; was overthrown in a violent revolution simply called the “40 Day War”. After the final rebel victory a republic was declared. President-for-Life Odon Pete, the nation’s long-time dictator, was usurped by his rivals in the rebellion following a final, savage confrontation around his residence in the nation’s capital. Zigana Saáry, chosen both due to her influential position amongst rebel forces, and because she was conveniently close by, was named President of Ursava.
In the days following the rebel victory, with Saáry sworn in as President, and Republican military forces mopping up the scattered remnants of Pete’s military, Ursava finally made its way from post-Soviet tyranny, into the wide world of free nations.

Zádor Vagner, the newly named Minister of Diplomacy for the Republic of Ursava, stood in the office of President Saáry listening as the tall, slim blond woman who had somehow managed to make her way into the most powerful office of the new Republic explained to him exactly what his objectives should be in establishing contact with foreign countries.
“We must have trade links with foreign powers,” she said. “We won the war, but we have much to rebuild that was damaged in the fighting. Ursava is still reeling. The farms won’t have a high enough yield to feed everybody, for one thing.”
“So, we must focus on food trade, and…what else?” Vagner asked.
“Infrastructure,” was the immediate reply. “The road networks are devastated, many lines in the rail system are severed, and so forth.”
“Ah. Very well,” said Vagner, scribbling on a notepad.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I greet you in the name of the newly established Republic of Ursava, whose populace has, in the last few months, finally broken free from the tyranny of the dictatorship which held it in bondage in the days following the Soviet Union’s collapse.
Unfortunately, as some of you will be aware, such a battle cannot be won without cost, an inevitable and unpleasant fact of life. Our fields lie burned and trampled, our highways sit blasted and cracked, our rail lines severed. People are starving for want of food.
In short, leaders of the Free World, we need help. We have rebuilt some basic automobile manufacturing facilities, and are willing to use the products of these as a medium of trade in order to gain the money and materials we require.
Please RSVP.
I am, respectfully,
MoD Zádor Vagner, Republic of Ursava
