Operation: Burning Canapés (Take Two|Semi-open|MT|ATTN: LION & Hegemony

Faxanavia
28-07-2008, 16:03
Garret Linsares breathed deeply as the wafting aroma of his morning coffee played delicately through the air. The soft, creamy glaze of his donut left a wonderful aftertaste, and the jolt left by his sumptuous brew created a pleasant effect in his mouth. When he had become Prime Minister, he had made himself one rule- that his job began not when he awoke, but only after his morning consumption of pastry and java. Now, he settled himself into his chair, fortified by his morning snack, to address the great stack of paperwork that teetered atop his desk. He sighed, and lifted the top one off of the monolithic pile. It was marked, in great red letters "URGENT- MATTER OF HIGHEST IMPORTANCE" and Garret opened it with some interest- very rarely did he get such bold memos. He read the opening title. "On the subject of the Hegemony of Nations" with some surprise- the Hegemony was so rarely in his papers, even though they were so often in world news, for one reason or another. Idly, he read down the memo- things about relationships, cordiality, idealism- all meaningless. The true meat of the memo came about halfway through, with a copy of a declaration passed in this morning's senate meeting. He read slowly, taking in every word very carefully- they were, after all, quite important.

Therefore, let this Senate be agreed- that the Hegemony represents to us, to the League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations, which is held in the highest interest by this esteemed organization, and to our nation as a whole a threat. In past they have met heads with us often, and have represented a belligerent force in the world as a whole. Therefore, we find it to be the duty of this Senate to declare, with the full backing of the power of the League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations and the Faxanavian Armed forces, an open ultimatum to this Hegemony- if they do not dissolve their ranks within 24 hours, they shall be dissolved forcibly by LION forces.

Garret sighed. He'd long known this day would come. It was inevitable. And it wasn't like he wasn't prepared; the Hegemony war had its own code number in the Ministerial book of emergency codes. It was that he hated to see the bloodshed, even for such a cause. Yet, it was out of his hands. No doubt, things would already be in motion, awaiting his go ahead. He opened up an official inter-departmental memo to make anyone stupid enough not to know aware. "Open war has been declared with the Hegemony if they do not dissolve their ranks within 24 hours. All military forces are to be on standby for the go ahead order." Sending the memo, he reclined in his chair for a moment, before sitting up to write the letter to the leaders of the Hegemony- a letter they surely would not like one bit.

|Official Diplomatic Communique of the Promethian Republic of Faxanavia|

To: Hegemon Lord Sumguy
CC: President Ingram Hasley of Cazelia, President Martin Watson of Greal, President A. Daril of Alfegos, Prime Minister Jarek Mace of DaWoad, President Vladimir Burte of Burtilana, President Nicolas Villa of Mokastana

Dear sirs,
I shall not trifle with your time, nor shall I make my intentions any less then clear. As of 7:30 AM this morning, Rodinian Standard Time, you have been given 24 hours to disband the Hegemony or face the wrath of the LION. We do not make idle threats, sirs- this is your one and only warning. You shall disband yourselves now, or you shall face our wrath. I feel that I need not give evidence- the League is a group of its word, and we shall do whatever we must to have our ends. Please, see sense, gentleman- disband yourselves now, and do not tempt a hungry LION, or we shall be forced to bite.

Respectfully yours,

Garret Linsares
Prime Minister of the Promethian Republic of Faxanavia, President of the League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations, Defender of the Republic and her People

It was a grand old send off for the Faxanavian Republican Navy ships. Such a deployment, in such numbers had never been seen before in the history of Faxanavian naval combat. 6 massive carrier groups, hundreds of ships, and hundreds more planes were all outbound in the South Rodinian sea. Each was prepared for combat, which they knew would soon come if the Hegemony proved to be as tricky as it usually did. Aboard the HPS Superlative, Chief Admiral Charles Elexburg stood, a grim expression playing over his face as he watched the hustle and bustle of his ships crew preparing for war. There would be war- every man on deck was sure of it, and, Admiral Elexburg swore mentally, it would be one he would win. As the Superlative chugged ever onwards, he looked into the distance- towards Lord Sumguy, Cazelia, Greal, and all the rest of them- they would face the wrath of the LION and of Faxanavia, and they would know what it felt like. He would insure that.

The final touch, the pièce de résistance as it were, came several hours after the Prime Minister's letter to the leaders of the Hegemony. Individually rapped packages, carefully ferried through several countries so as to confuse the receiver, would arrive on each man's desk. Each one would open it to find two things- a Blendtek (c) Total Blender, one of the finest blenders on the market, and a tiny, anonymous, typewritten card bearing three words to strike fear into the hearts of men; "Will it blend?"

To the Hegemonic nations:

Imagine firestorms ravaging the bombed-out hulks of your cities, rivers of blood flowing through your occupied countryside, and the chillingly mechanical sound of a blender's blades echoing through your streets. This is the fate that shall await you if you fail to comply forthwith and completely with LION's demands. Our forces are mobilizing and deploying at this very instant. Act quickly.

Hail victory!

The Rt. Hon. Victoria E. Foyle
Minister of War, Federal Piccavian Commonwealth

***

FPS Victoria Foyle
Küstenschanze, Piccavia
0930 hours

War Minister Foyle brushed her hands lightly over the stainless steel control panels of the FPS Foyle, the ship bearing her name. It was a deadly, lethal ship, with more guns and missile batteries than most commanders knew what to do with. The Foyle stood in stark contrast, ironically, to Ms. Foyle, a young, beautiful, innocent-looking woman, with soft blue eyes and springy blond curls. Nonetheless, her exquisite body housed a cold, calculating mind, one that could rival any other military mind, one that's sole focus was victory at any cost. She looked up from the blinking radar screen to see through the aluminum oxynitride windows to see the naval force assembled at the Küstenschanze. Between the First Armada of the Piccavian Bundesmarine and the 1st LION RRF Expeditionary Force, nearly a thousand ships floated upon the tranquil waters of the Munzinger Sea. Victoria sighed with pride, marveling at the wonders of the Piccavian war machine. It was small, yes, but it churned out some of the finest fighting men and women the world might ever see.

"Ms. Foyle," a voice said, waking the war minister from her reverie. "All ships report ready to depart, with all men and materiel accounted for."

"Excellent," Victoria replied. "I would like to address our troops as we set off, Admiral."

"But of course," the admiral stated, bowing. He handed Victoria a small microphone, one wired into the address systems of each of the Piccavian vessels.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the Piccavian Expeditionary Force!" Victoria said exuberantly into the microphone. "Today, we embark upon a great crusade. With the clarion call of war, we sound the death knell for the Hegemony! Today, we shall rid the world of a pestilence that has, for too long, plagued us. Piccavia shall prevail in its noble task. The civilized men of the world march together towards victory! I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."

She could faintly hear cheering from the decks below. Victoria smiled, whispering to herself the hallowed dictum of Blendtec, "Will it blend?"

The Binarian Empire had long had problems with the interventionist bastards that make up the Hegemony. In the past, it had been at war with Greal, killed hundreds of Cazelians with a missile strike on Greali soil, and convinced them forsake one of their own. This however was all to be dwarfed by what was to come. The cities of the Hegemony will be shattered, its governments sacrificed to our lord's repersenative here on Earth, Tom Dickinson. The sooner our Blendtec priest lead our people in the noble warnings of God, "Holy smoke- don't breathe this", and the time honorred response, "Yes, it blends." The sooner our lord will be appeased, and our armies souls will be saved from enternal damnation when the leaders of those that breathed the holy smoke shall be tossed into the blenders of purification, and smoothies made.

Emperor Gardar Arnarson was there along with Binarian church officals to watch the men of this greatest of crusades depart. He stood as they assembled below him.

"You are all my children, and will be protected by Tom Dickinson. However, you will be fighting a war, and regetfuly not all of you will return. However, know that your souls will be united with our Lord, and will looking on from the Blendtec Labs in the sky, when your brothers and sisters that do make it, throw the leaders of those that oppose us into the blenders." He paused looking out into the crowd that numbered in the tens if not hundreds of thousands that stood below him before uttering the rallying cry of all those that followed the teachings of Blendtec. "For the Greater Glory of our God Blendtec, and for his Holiness Tom Dickenson! For the Holy Smoke!"

President Jerry Striker took a nice whiff of the morning air. He was pacing him self down the walk way in the center courtyard; a Michael Richardson directly to his left and worried Speaker, David Telliner, a few steps behind to his right. In tail was a few aids, a Minister of State Mrs. Alison Krippin, and a Parliament Man who was tagging along with the group.

"Earlier this morning a proposal was brought down to the Congressional Parliament. It is based upon recent LION and Hegemony actions. It is finally time for the glorious republic to attack that scum," said Michael heartedly.

Jerry gave a smirk, he knew about the proposal and how it was passed and then brought over to the Federal Parliament which from there was revised and passed again. In fact, the document was in the President's hand then. He held a firm grip on it, as if it was extremely important.

LION had been planning the movement for a bit, a as of late all of the memberstates had agreed, except for no responses from Akimonad and Oceana.

"What to you propose we do, Mr. Richardson? The entirety of the military is on stand by, with Cradocks International Fleet as the exception," Striker thought over the conquest of Ryou. But that was on no concern.

"Are you suggesting how much we should deploy? Well a good enough amount to topple a few flag waving, gun touting maniacs I should guess," Michael couldn't help but laugh.

The men flew down a few hallways until they were facing the Presidential Office Staff Security. They were immediately allowed in and Jerry, Michael, David, and Alison flowed in. Already there was Minister Douglas Pire and Minister Jackson Garfeild.

The two ministers had already hammered out a few ideas and they were ready. The room was dry as the President slid back into his brown leather seat and drew out a pen and began to write the ultimatum.

5:13 PM, Docks
Rellington, Greston

It was a nostalgic scene, a scene of massive naval ships gathering into their newly coordinated formations. Scores of ships were packing up and departing along with the men that had filed on not to long ago. Some of the men had looks of gloom, others of joy. And some, such as Fleet Admiral David Robern, the tingly and ominous look of revenge.

9:23 PM, GMNS Charles Dalton
Mednordian Sea, Mediterranica

Rear Admirals James Mariner and Isaac Blane stood around their fleet admiral, Admiral David Montgomery, as they trailed through the water. It plowed out of the way for the ships bow. The three men, who stood over the stern, gazed around them, the clear, blue, sparkling water they saw then the might not see again, or they would see it again but after seeing water once like it only polluted by a dark redness.

"There's something to be said for immense naval power," the Fleet Admiral stared at the night time sky, the stars looked down back at him.

"Of course, sir," Isaac replied. "If not what has allowed the Republic to survive this long? It is the only reason we are the most well funded branch. More so then the dirt rippers we transport."

The admirals chuckled to the remark.

"Our navy not only allows us to survive but to stop the chances of just so for others. Our ideological enemies, enemies who threaten our ideals and beliefes. They must be silenced. They must be destroyed! The decadent dictatorship of Lord Sumguy must be destroyed," the evil sensation of the speech moved the men, it kept them going as they thriftfully plotted the end of the Hegemony.

CC: President Ingram Hasley of Cazelia, President Martin Watson of Greal, President A. Daril of Alfegos, Prime Minister Jarek Mace of DaWoad, President Vladimir Burte of Burtilana, President Nicholas Villa of Mokastana
From: President and Imperial Parliamentarian The Rt. Hon. Sir Jerry Striker
Subject: Initiation of Operation Flaming Canapés

Dear Hegemon Lord Sumguy,

The time of the Hegemony is over - you face imminent destruction at the hands of one of the most powerful naval forces in the world. Millions of soldiers will wash over your country like a tsunami, destroying everything in their path - your culture, your civilization, your economy, your institutions. The behomeths inside of them will come out, and by the end of the day, you will understand why we are called LION.

The Hegemony actions and policies more often than not are aggressive and, all too often, violent in nature; which is why, now, the League of Imperial Ocean-Faring Nations is making an offensive position against you. Not only has your puppet state, the warmongering, aggressive, fourth world slums, Cazelia, delivered messages to us in a threatening manner but your land fill to be, DaWoad, chose to attempt to attack our naval operations in a foreign area.

Furthermore the Alfegosian Drones abruptly engaged soldiers from the Desserted Territories, while only patrolling the area, which with more Hegemonic hypocracy evolved into all out offense upon the nation's homeland. This breach of sovereignty is disgusting as is but the fact Maldorian assets and Grestonian assets were in the area is much more so.

Thus we are asking you to abolish the Hegemony at LION's hands. Else, it will be distabilized and destroyed by our hands.

Choose wisely, would you wish to see Sumgaia become a Joint LION Territory, Wormer a grave yard, or Sasha a land fill, or even Yarkai City an outpost, or worse, the Hegemony Councel Chambers become home to the next blender?

From,
President and Imperial Parliamentarian The Rt. Hon. Sir Jerry Striker

"Alright, you 'orrible lot! I want you double-time in the back of those transports, you're moving out! Get your bergens, all of it! We're goin' to war! Left-right-left-right-left..."

Preparations were underway for one of the biggest operations ever undertaken by Barronian forces - the dissolution of the Hegemony, beginning with the annihilation, capture, and colonisation of Lord Sumguy.

"ObServ, we are code red. This is not a drill. Begin sequence niner-alpha-delta-five-seven. Repeat, niner-alpha-delta-five-seven. This is not a drill."

Across the nation, galas were being urgently prepared, a fond farewell given to the many thousands of troops that would leave, and never come back. Military bands began their drills, preparing for leaving ceremonies and wartime duty, both for homeland morale and for the men on the front.

"Citizens! Men, women, children! Workers, employers, drivers, trainmasters, accountants, miners, citizens all! Barronia, in seeing fit to begin the end of those that would enslave the world, has decided to announce a state of war between our Empire and the Hegemonic forces. As you will know emergency drills are now in effect. All those not in work are required to report to your nearest conscription office to aid the war effort. All alarms over the Public Announcement System are to be obeyed..."

Ships were being prepared, launches tested. The best of the best, Barronian Nautical Service personnel of prime heritage, these would be the first and last thing the Sumgaians would see, the first and the last the Greali would see, and the first and the last the Cazelians would see. Barronia's Cazelian colony, garnered during the first Cazelian invasion, would be utilized to the full. A ten mile strip of cazelian coastline would soon become one of the most densely packed military bases ever seen.

"All citizens are to move in an orderly fashion to the awaiting transport. Do not attempt to bring your belongings, you will be given new ones. Please procede in an orderly fashion. Do not attempt to bring your belongings."

Across the ports of the Barronian colony, citizens were boarding vessels. In a desperate attempt to minimise civilian loss, entires cities of people were being dispersed across the rest of the Empire, their numbers being replaced by the many troops of the Barronian 322nd Guard, who would be maintaining control of the colony whilst the main attack was underway.

Sirs,

For too long have we watched the Hegemony spread like a virus across the globe. No more. From this day forward, a state of war exists between the Hegemony and the Magisterium. Your days of tyranny and oppression will soon be ended.

Disband the Hegemony, and the damage shall be limited. You civilians spared, your militaries capable of fending off more than a pedestrian riot. If you do not yield, then we, along with our honourable allies and compatriots, will ensure the Hegemony will never be a danger to any citizen again.

To: Hegemon Lord Sumguy
From: Justin Alexander Herbert, President of Asgarnieu
Subject: Operation: BURNING CANAPÉS

To whom it may concern:

We will not accept negotiation. We will not accept surrender. We will only take the full disassembly and destruction of the Hegemony.

The killing of innocent citizens of Greal and Cazelia. Opression. Tyranny. All are things the Hegemony is known for. We are hereby ceasing to tolerate the Hegemony's filth.

As of this day, 28 June 2008, an official state of war and open combat hereby exists between the Hegemony and Asgarnieu.

Previous attempts to topple the Hegemony have hitherto failed, but I personally assure you: ours will succeed.

The Hegemony is over. We encourage the Hegemony to throw down it's arms, as it will make the transition much easier. Civilians found to be in cohort with the Hegemony and its associated forces will be summarily executed. Should the Hegemony attempt a last-resort nuclear attack, orbital weaponry will be used to strike civilian population centers, key military facilities, and government facilities.

The ships pushed away from the dock, one by one, headed for combat. Their orders were to meet up with the rest of the LION RRF and proceed to attack the Hegemonic forces.

The ships would arrive at their liasion point soon, and the crews were stoked to see combat. They would begin combat operations the second they were outside Asgarnian waters. Aircraft would be deployed to protect the ships, and space-based equipment would monitor enemy movements.

They were ready, but were the Hegemonic forces?

Nellis Military Facility, Air Base

The air forces allocated to Operation: BURNING CANAPÉS began taking off, headed for air bases situated close to the action. Tanker aircraft lead off with a small contingent of interceptors acting as escorts. Soon the cargo aircraft and bombers followed. By 19:57, the last aircraft departed.

Dear sirs,
I shall not trifle with your time, nor shall I make my intentions any less then clear.

The Hegemony actions and policies more often than not are aggressive and, all too often, violent in nature; which is why, now, the League of Imperial Ocean-Faring Nations is making an offensive position against you. Nicolas Villa looked over the emergency information that woke him up at 4:30 am. By the looks of it it wasn't good, not good at all. He had been elected to keep peace and promise to Mokastana, and suddenly LION was threatening to kick down his door. Luckily no Mokan target had been specifically named in any of the letters. That meant at least Mokastana was not a prime target, but who knows where this war would lead. Sitting deep inside the emergency situations bunker north of Mokastana City the council of some of the brightest minds in Mokastana sat waiting to decide what to do.

"Very well Gentlemen, we have a grave situation ahead of us. I need status reports on to what is going on for the protection of our nation."

Head of the Army: Generalissimo Ivan Canarias:

All national Guard units have been called into service, and operation last stand has begun. Shore Guard Divisions are taking up positions around the nation to protect against incoming navies and landing forces. All military forces have assumed top priority on roads and bridges. The nation is on lock down so to speak. We are about to initiate a full scale recall. That would be Fort Mokan in Sasha, Fort Carson in Wormer, and the numerous stations in Rithian at the moment.

Head of the Navy: Admiral Jesus Consuelo

The navy is preparing for what could be the end of us. We have assumed control of the colonies of Zather and Paradisa, Wellovian Territory is still under its own armies jurisdiction, under Canarias of course. However all Coast Guard units are scanning shores to make sure no spec ops teams get into Mokastana without going through us. The 500 Hatchet-class Frigates on reserve are being called up to protect shipping lanes and reinforce the Coast Guard. Every naval unit except ASCHA station is being recalled back to Mokastana. ASCHA station has broken open their policy on Operation Last Stand and know what to do. Mr. President, the shipping lanes between the Caribbean and Wellovia are the lifeblood of Mokastana, we can protect them for a while, but knowing the enemy fleet coming I recommend shutting them off. With your permission I can get Army units in Wellovia to work with me and overstock the mainland with Wellovian steel and ore, in four days we can have the lanes cut, in a week empty.

As for the lanes to Paradisa and Zather, I recommend we shut those off immediately, Zather can survive from regional assistance, while Paradisa may need help, but mainland Mokastana can survive without Paradisa's resources.

Head of the Air force: Air Marshall Jesus Manuel

I believe the air force has the easy end in this operation. We have activated all Skyguard Divisions around Mokastana, as well as prepared for any intrusion into airspace. 10% of all interceptors will be in the air at all times, in addition to this 10% of nuclear assest will be in the air at all times as well. In the event of an invasion we shall increase this to 30%. All military airspace is on a shoot first ask questions later set up. RADAR and Ground hawkeyes are scanning the horizons, and Bears are being loaded with LY045s in the event that the naval units request support.

Head of Secret Actions: Steven Francisco

Intelligence wise, we have a large force, the largest naval fleet being formed in recorded history, against the hegemony. We believe its primary target will be Lord Sumguy, for obvious reasons. Other Primary targets are Greal, Cazelia, and LS. In this folder you can see exactly what they will be facing, but trust me, it is not pretty. Mokastana is probably a second priority, they may attack shipping lanes and launch attacks against us, but the possibility of a full scale invasion is unlikely. I recommend we keep the shipping lanes open until the last possible moment. i believe that they will try to crush LS and these other primary targets first, showing there might, but they lack to ability to invade all of us, so more then likely peace talks will be called after the fall of these targets. For international heroism, I would recommend a massive deployment to Greal, however public opinion of the hegemony is slipping, already they got us into a war with the CA, which lead directly to invasion and smoothie threats against Mokastana. Mokans were weary of alliances to begin with, and now we are here to clean up after men we counted on to protect us. I am not saying we can expect an uprising against us, but don't count on a war fever for the saving of every hegemony member.

The Superlative's was puttering along, at the head of the vast Faxanavian fleet known collectively as unified fleet 1, being the first fleet of its vast size ever under the command of a Faxananavian. Admiral Elexburg stood at the prow, staring out into the blue sea contemplatively. From behind, a timid young aid approached. He coughed softly, and the admiral turned to face him. "Yes, son? What is it?" The aid coughed nervously. 'Well, sir, we have word from central command. The Barronians, Piccavians, Grestonians, Binarians and Asgarnians have mobilized forces. They're inbound along side us." The admiral nodded thoughtfully. "Good. Send out communications- tell them to meet with us and form up." The aid nodded. "Yes sir. Right away, sir." As the aid turned to leave, Admiral Elexburg cleared his throat. "And one more thing, son." The aid turned. "Send a message to the STRATMICOM. Tell them to prepare for my call for diversion 2." The aid nodded and hurried away.

The day has come once again when I must stand with my people to ensure the freedom of the Democratic Republic. Many times we have been tested, and have had our backs break under the pressure. But this will not happen this time. We will not surrender to the LION's filth. We will fight you to the very last man; We will fight you until the breath is drawn from ourselves. Your men will shudder at the ferocity of the ordinary citizen, filled with rage and purpose while defending his home and family. Your men's morale will be drawn from them after endless fighting against men you cannot see until it is too late.

And even if you do manage to conquer my nation, there will be more civil disorder and violent resistance than your entire alliance's occupation force can handle, and due to almost every citizen owning one or more firearms, this increases the chance of violence against your soldiers. And if you decide to turn on the blenders in a petty attempt to silence my people, the fight will just fall more into our favor.

Thermobaric missiles feel neither fear nor suffer the limitations of morale.

Any Cazelian citizen dissenting against the Barronian advance will be crushed. You have been warned.

Any soldier considering vacating from the Cazelian army is encouraged to put down his weapons, obtain a white flag, and await the inevitable advance. Your leaders have failed you, your alliance has failed you, and soon, your comrades will fail you. Barronia understands your plight, we come to spread freedom, to grant you the right to a peaceful co-existance, free of the shackles that limit you under the "administration" currently plaguing you and yours.

Barronia welcomes those wishing to escape the bloodbath; all soldiers will be granted the right to dine with our own troops, to wear their uniform, insignia, and medals; to sleep in comfort like our own men, to drink with our own men as colleagues, enemies become friends. Leave your posts, brothers, and join the glorious Barronian advance!

We wish that we could promise the same treatment at the hands of our allies, but such as ours is not often found. In order to maximise the comfort of yourselves in this transitionary period, we ask you hand yourselves over as soon as possible.

The Philadelphia Freedom, an Ark Royal carrier, was making full ahead toward Lord Sumguy. As part of Task Force Gold, the Philadelphia Freedom would be at the forefront of the attack to dissolve the Hegemony. Fighting alongside her noble brothers of the League, she would be instrumental in ensuring that the Hegemony never darkened the oceans again.

As the task force made a turn to the co-ordinates broadcast by the Faxanavian group, the soldiers became quiet. It was all business now.

The Tempora Heroica-class through-deck aircraft carrier was one of 20 that had been modified from a maximum deck height of 8 meters to 20 meters, effectively accomodating most of the larger naval aircraft, and a few Air Force AWACS aircraft.

Task Force Hotel-25's leader, Admiral 2nd Class Ella Baker sat at the helm of her grand ship. She recieved a message from the Faxanavian LION fleet giving the rest of the LION naval forces the coordinates of the main forces. She ordered the helmsman to adjust accordingly, and she ordered all Hotel-25 ships to Orange Alert.

The third Tempora Heroica-class Flight II modified carrier left port empty for a reason. A large part of the Air Force compliment landed on the massive deck of the ship. They would wait on the decks for the time to strike.

Dot, dash, dash, dot. Dot, dash, dash, dot. The Foyle's mast blinked the same pattern over and over again, in an endless loop, as did all of the Piccavian vessels at this late hour. The ship's crew, at least a good number of it, slept peacefully in their bunks, resting before the onslaught inevitably before them.

War Minister Foyle couldn't bear the thought of sleeping at this point; in her mind, she could still see the wall-sized strategic map of Lord Sumguy, a tangle of red and blue arrows racing toward the capital, Sumgaia. Victoria paced back and forth, her silken pink pajamas rustling in the wind. Lord Sumguy would fall, and the Hegemony would, once and for all, be destroyed. There was no doubt anymore; Foyle had even hand-selected the Piccavian viceroy for federally-occupied Lord Sumguy, a ruthless man who could get the job done without those pesky moral qualms.

For the most part, the night was silent, leaving Victoria to her thoughts, only punctuated by the drone of high-altitude aircraft performing forward recce operations. The war minister gazed out into the watery abyss at the superdreadnought's bow, shivering slightly in the cold. The waves washed up over the deck as the bow pierced them, the brine lapping over Victoria's feet. It was a scene of dichotomies, the tranquility of the waters juxtaposed with the inherent violence of the naval armada surrounding her, mast lights blinking on and off, the calmness amongst the slumbering crews contrasted against the droves of airplanes circling around the fleet.

After a few moments, Victoria heard footsteps resonating on the steel deck behind her; it was the ship's admiral, who slid up next to the war minister, leaning on the bow's railing. "It's breathtaking, isn't it, Admiral?"

"Aye," the admiral replied, nodding his head. "That it is, ma'am. Some fleet you've raised here."

"No, Admiral, I mean the sea," Victoria sighed. "I've inspected a number of ships in my time, but I've never been able to say that I've truly been at sea, thousands of kilometers away from any other landmass."

"Never, ma'am?"

"I rose through the ranks as an Army officer before entering the civilian arena," the war minister stated. "Infantry rarely puts out to sea."

"I suppose that's true, ma'am," said the admiral.

"At any rate, I can't imagine you came here to chat," Victoria said, her tone quickly becoming serious once more. "I would certainly hope that the individual whom both the Chancellor and I have given personal responsibility for directing the naval assault on Lord Sumguy would have something more pressing than pleasant conversation."

"Of course, War Minister," the admiral replied quickly. "Recon aircraft from one of our forward SIT battlegroups has sighted elements of the Faxanavian 1st United Fleet; I deemed it appropriate to report immediately."

"Excellent," Victoria exclaimed. "Move the fleet into position forthwith and remain on station until further notice."

"Shall I signal Helvetia?" the admiral asked, bowing.

"No, no - leave that to me," Victoria said.

"But of course."

The admiral scurried off to the bridge, leaving Victoria alone once more on the bow. Before turning away to head back to her quarters, she whispered to herself. "Victoria aut mors." Victory or death. She meant it.

Dear Mr. Ingram Hasley,

Scurry off to your tunnels, burrow down thousands of miles accompanied by hundreds of your finest, arm yourself with advanced weapons, and pray - for even with all of this helping you, your life will be taken. By any means possible will we kill you, the foot steps you hear marching through Yarkai City are of the men who will stop at nothing to see your limp body hung from the remains of your capital building. Nothing you have left can stop us or the imminent fate of your administration and your military.

Beg and grovle at your precious Lord Sumguy's feet for it is he who chooses your fate, to live or to die, for if he decides to ban the Hegemony this war will end and the ominous shadows of death over you capital will go away.

It is on one man's shoulders of who is to live or die. And that one man has to choose.

"Sir! Sir! We've sighted the Piccavian fleet!" The same rushed aid, who, for the sake of story, we shall refer to as Roger, came dashing up to Admiral Elexburg. "They're moving in to rendezvous with us." Admiral Elexburg nodded to the young Roger. "Excellent. Hail them down, and have them form up with our fleet. How far are we from Lord Sumguy?" "1800 kilometers, sir." The Admiral nodded. "Right. Hail them down, then get below deck- this'll be a long night." Roger nodded, turned, and left. The Admiral stared out over the water. Tomorrow, or maybe the day after, there would be blood in the water. The blood of their foes. He smiled grimly, as a quote from the naval academy drifted through his mind; "The goal of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other dumb bastard die for his."

Dear Jarek Mace,

It shows true desperation and how juvenile our opponants in this war are when they faced with an ultimatum and reply with such a childish saying as "bring it". I know now that the slight possibility of losing this war, as it were, is impossible when the enemy alliance is led by children with a preschool education! Your true vulnerability and flaws is truly obvious when you cannot imagine an insult more creative than two words, two measely words that, often times, is the best threat the average playground bully can make up!

If you cannot think well on paper how can you think well on the battlefeild? We will be soon to test that out.

Not another damned war. Martin Watson's head was racing with thoughts as he entered a conference room. General Will Riddle greeted the president gloomily. Martin sat down at the other end of the table. Inside the room were several Foreign Ministry officials, generals, and Naval admirals.

"How bad is it?" asked Martin.

"Bad." replied one of the generals,"Two Hegemony members have pulled out. We fear more will." Another general muttered "Traitors."

"The naval situation. What about that?"

"The LION fleets has a combined number of several thousand ships. Of course that will be hard to coordinate and they are splitting the fleets to go after Cazelia, Lord Sumguy, and us." said one of the naval admirals.

"What about the ground situation?"

"Well, that shouldn't be a problem. The LION ground army isn't really big and will face our army, and our superior air force." said one of the army generals.

"Are nuclear weapons an alternative?"

"We shouldn't use those unless we have no other choice."

"Are the defenses assembled? Is the Greal fleet ready?"

"The LION navy will face most of our navy off the western coast, which is their presumed target, since the eastern coast is so small, and the pass they will have to go through to get to the east coast, which has several thousand coast guns. Ground defenses are the same. Have been in place since last year's wars began."

"What about allies?"

"We do have several defensive pacts with several nations. We may be able to get a few more nations to support Greal before the enemy forces will get here, which will take a few weeks."

"Alright gentlemen. I believe that is all. Good luck."

The crew of the GMNS Charles Dalton was making a familiar cruise as their massive ship gently tread along the water. It made a quick pace, all the while pushing on to what would be the death of of many man; the majority of those men being Sumguaian, Cazelian, and Greali.

The wall sized image of a highly detailed map of Lord Sumguy was still fresh in Admiral David Montgomery's mind. He had been staring at maps filled with red and blue lines and dots, all going in different directions but ending up in one place, Sumgaia, all day long. The war plans were coming together, slowly, but they were. Already the monstorous force of LION had scared away two Hegemony members and others were on the same path.

A majority of the crew was taking their break and sleeping the remaining few hours of the night away, but the thoughts of the death and carnage to come kept Montgomery awake. He couldn't keep himself from dreaming of how long it would be until he returned home, if ever, and it was painful on his part.

The admiral stood at the bow of the massive bohemoth and looked on in awe, meerely miles ahead of him stood a gathering unlike that of any he had ever seen before in his life. The gathering was alive and working and was churning the calm waters.

Amongst the giant flottilla that laid ahead was ships of all nationalities and types, each nation boasted their amazing naval assets which dwarfed the images of the enemy's navies. Different flags all around were hung and were flailing in the wind but only one flag rose above the rest.

The flag of the League of Imperial Ocean-Faring Nations, the flag that was soon to be hung over Cazelia, Greal, and Lord Sumguy.

How much faith do you have in your military? How much can you trust you men to fight and die for you, in honour's name, to keep yourself and your twisted political ideals alive? How much faith have you invested in these men to fight for the ideals and a man who has killed them in the past? Can you trust your men to fight for Lord Sumguy, when in the past they had to fight against him?

The difference between you and me is that I can trust my men to do their job. My men can fight and they shall, for they lack the cowardice and the good cause that is heavy on your men's minds.

"They will, with their greed and malice, undo nearly all of the work we have done, all that we have accomplished internationally." He paused for a moment, looking at the Barronian declaration. "The least they could have done is list a valid reason for this war, rather than resort to ridiculous accusations of oppresion."

"The HIDF is ready to go to war." General Alexander McAlpin said, conflicting feelings of despair, anger, and exitement over the prospect of fighting agaisnt injustice playing across his face. "Merely say the word, and we will resist this disgusting act of evil to the end."

"As noble as our cause would be in resisting, General, such would mean the ruin of this nation, and of several other members states of the Hegemony." Lord Sumguy said, sitting down again. "As glorious as martyrdom in the defense of this nation and the liberty that we hold dear would be, I will not do so when such would mean destruction at the hands of LION, and the tyranny our people would no doubt be subject to under the likes of the Vantelander government. I will not doom our people for the sake of idealogical pride."

"But sir.." Mcalpin said, pointing to a map. "We have a chance of beting them back. Victory is not impossible."

"Victory at what cost, General?" The Hegemon replied. "The Hegemony was created to protect the people of the nations that it encompassed. To subject them to suffering in order to preserve it would be agaisnt it's purpose."

The door to the office opened, as the Rt. Rev. George Claxton enetered the Room, followed by the Rev. Thomas Shmidt. "You will fight." Claxton said, smiling. "And I will tell you why."

"Please do." the Hegemon said, and waited for the archbishop's explanation.

OOC: follow-up post coming soon

The Hegemon leaned back as Claxton finished explaining to him. For a moment he was silent, his face expressionless. "Interesting." He said at last. "Very interesting. It would be quite a gamble."

"What do we have to lose, really?" Claxton asked, smiling. "The potential benifit far outwieghs the risk."

"True." The Hegemon replied. running his hands through his hair. "hmmm... I never expected anything like this."

"Sir, if I may." general Mcalpin said. "I have a bad feeling about this it could very easily go badly for us."

"And how would that be much worse than our current situation, general?" Claxton asked.

"A good point." Mcalpin said, then fell silent.

"Are there any other objections to this?" the Hegemon asked. The room was silent. "Very well then, we shall go through with it."

Claxton smiled. "Exellent."

Lord Sumguy sighed, looking at one of the declarations on his desk, after a moment he scoffed. "Blendtec, how ridiculous. Sounds like something you'd see on some sort of silly online nation simulation game." After a moment, his eyes widened as he realized what he had just said, as the other men sat in shocked silence. The Hegemon shook his head. For a second he had been certain that he was merely the invention of a seventeen-year-old boy with too much time on his hands and a tendancy to use slightly archaic grammar. As he turned to his computer the men slowly filed out of the room, deeply disturbed by what the Hegemon had just said for reasons they could not quite figure out.

Official Hegemonic Declaration:

I am insulted and disgusted by the declarations of the member states of the League of Imperial Ocean-Faring Nations. These nations accuse the Hegemony, which has long stood for the protection and furtherment of liberty, of oppresion and tyranny. They claim to be fighting to end injustice, to curb our "aggresion". As all accusations made by LION agaisnt myself and the Hegemony as a whole are obviously false, there is but one possible true motive behind these demands: greed. Greed is a disease. A virus that infects man, turning him against his neighbor in selfish malice. It is readily apparent that the leadership of LION are consumed by it, that they would make war upon an organization such as the Hegemony for their own benifit.

While I am the cheif executive of this nation, I shall not allow my people to be subject to the greed of foreign powers. While I am Hegemon, I shall never allow any within it to be subject to tyranny or ruin while I hold power to resist any such fate. I refuse to disband the Hegemony, I refuse to surrender to the ridiculous demands made by the League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations. If this means an attack upon the Hegemony then so be it, but I will not bow to evil while I still have the ability to fight it.

Garret Linsares smiled down at the letter. How quaint. How...antiquated. This Lord Sumguy had such a black and white view of the world. Good vs. evil, dark vs. light- it was all the same, and all of it untrue. If there was one thing a man like Garret Linsares knew, it was that most men were motivated by more complex things- greed, power, and so forth. If the world became filled with men like Lord Sumguy, then men like himself would never be allowed to rule. They're nineteenth morals could but a damper on those of today. This must never happen. He smiled up at the little black inscribed over his desk. "Vires planto vox" Might makes right. What profound words, indeed.

"How far are we from Lord Sumguy, boy?" The Admiral looked down at young Roger, who was sweating profusely. "Very close, sir. We could begin the operation now, if you think it is necessary." The Admiral nodded. "How many of our allies have joined us?" "Everyone necessary for the plan, sir." The Admiral nodded, then turned to look out over the deck. "Run down to the transmission booth, and send a message to central command. Tell them to engage Operation: Burning Canapés, and god be with them, because he sure as hell won't be with our enemy." The aid scurried off, leaving the admiral to contemplate what, in just a few hours time, would happen.

The Faxanavian invasion fleet was comprised of six carrier groups. In each of these carrier groups, there were 5 Los-Angeles class submarines. Each LA class submarine could hold up to 25 missiles, or, for a sum total across the fleet, 750 missiles in total. Each of these were, in the grand old tradition of the Faxanavian navy, the NNEMP-EPFCG Air-Raid Missile; a non-nuclear ballistic missile which, instead of carrying explosive ordnance, carried an explosively powered flux compression generator- a deadly EMP device with a range of up to 3 miles. Now, the sleek blackness of the submarines rose from beneath the waves and into the night. Torpedo tubes opened to the sky, and one by one, 750 missiles were launched. These would strike various targets along the east coast of Lord Sumguy, knocking out power and communications and leaving them ripe for League invasion.

The Admiral smiled as he watched each cruise missile launch, and turned to the hovering Roger. "Send a message to the surrounding fleets. Tell them to move into their positions and begin at their leisure. Then, tell the captains of the others in our fleet to start heading north. We should be there in a few hours." As Roger scurried off, the Admiral turned once again to look out over the prow to where the missiles would soon strike. The Sumguians wouldn't know what hit them.

Official Proclamation of the National Assembly, Federal Diet, and Council of Auditors of the Piccavian Parliament

As of 0800 hours this morning, a state of war hereby exists between Piccavia and the nations of the Hegemony. No quarter or mercy shall be given by the Bundeswehr. The Parliament remains adamant that all Hegemonic nations stand down forthwith, to avoid needless bloodshed and to ensure the most equitable surrender arrangements.

War Minister Foyle smiled as she read the war declaration, the paper still warm in her hands from the telefacsimile printer.

"Admiral Bismarck," she said, turning to the commander of the Foyle and leader of the Piccavian and RRF combined armadas. "Deploy the fleet. Orders just came in from Helvetia. I'll be in my quarters if you need me."

"Yes, ma'am," the admiral said, saluting the retreating figure. "All right, men, you heard the minister - set sail for our designated attack coordinates."

Admiral Baker was giving a young radio operator hell for falling asleep at his station. The young man had been up for almost 29 hours without any caffeine, and nodded off. Luckily, his radar was only tracking friendly forces.

As Admiral Baker began to deliver the pièce de résistance, a cryptographic analysis technician jumped from his chair with a priority message.

He informed her of the Faxanavian go-ahead for deployment of missiles.

She immediately ordered a more fresh radar operator to replace the tired one, and sat down in her plush chair. After situating herself, reading the message, and making a few course correction decisions, she spread the message to the rest of the Asgarnian fleet.

After her ships responded, she ordered all destroyers, battleships, cruisers, battlecruisers, and all other ships with ANM-4 missiles to ready them and prepare to fire.

Several long minutes passed. Every ship had to report back with a "GO" signal that would be read on the lead ship's situation display. The minutes passed as the ships, one by one, made Bear Wallow's situation display light up green. The minutes seemed like hours to Baker. She hated waiting.

At long last, every ship's condition for missile fire was go.

She gave the order.

Over 500 missiles streaked toward the Lord Sumguy homeland. These missiles would follow the Faxanavian EMP attack, rendering most of Lord Sumguy's defenses useless. The destination of these missiles, armed with 1,500-pound high-explosive warheads, some with 1,500-pound incendiary warheads, was to be Lord Sumguy's military bases and government centers. The high-explosive warheads would demolish the structures, and the incendiary warheads would burn the remains. GPS guidance ensured that the missiles would hit their targets.

Lord Sumguy's civilian centers would be targeted next, if they did not surrender...

OOC After the attacking of our ally, and the resigning of at least two MU members Waldenburg will take the next step. As the MUIZ has generally been considered neutral territory, and the former Vice Secretary was the only one to Rp the arrival of any forces, all loyal to himself, I shall continue without immediate. And considering the Ministry of Defense is somewhat.. vacant.. If something of note is brought up I will edit. Yallak and ash you both have Tg's.

Die Zauberfloete: Overture (http://www.mozart-weltweit.de/43a01.wma)

After the debacle of the morning things had moved quickly, forces had shifted powers moved and the apparent and expedient end became clear, one of disunion, and one of disassembly. The Imperial offices had acted quickly and under the principles of previous assertions acted. It was a simple word one which implied such a long and inordinate stream of command and quiet movement.

The zenith had been passed and the pinnacle of Waldenburger power was on the rise, at least two parties had departed the MUIZ since the morning and without doubt the MU was in disarray, a disarray most precipitated and anticipated by the Imperial Throne in far off Blünderburg.

The International Zone was a beautiful piece of architecture and towards the end the architects and laborers had simply run out of items to add the already glittering city. Noble families, or simply those who had much to gain from the aggrandizement of an international organization had thrown money at the Premier to the point where there hand simply been nothing left to spend it on. All streets were cobbled; all buildings were with tiles roves and copper plates. In contrast however hardly anyone was on the streets, and indeed very few windows boasted lights, the one factory had closed at three, and no one had gone in since. Only occasion a policeman would walk by, his boots glinting off the regular iron wrought lampposts.

A few motorcars were parked on the curb, but other than a few servicemen the streets were entirely devoid of life or activity. Therefore it was only a sparrow, which saw the mass of men moving down the grand alley leading to the Union buildings. Founder’s Avenue it was called for the three-meter tall statues of the original founders of the alliance, cast of Waldenburger silver and now shadows flickered through the stoic faces.

It was perhaps a flaw in general security that only the former Vice Secretary had provided guards for one thousand square kilometers, and had so far remained the only militarized sector within the International Zone. Two hundred of them, in Waldenburg uniform with the blue cockade of the MU rushed down the street flitting from shadow to shadow, and staying low to the ground.

Earlier this morning a plane had arrived, according to the foreign office to collect the Waldenburger ministers and diplomats, however it had delivered a second platoon of the Divine Legion to the city and now they were rushing down the kilometer jog to the palace. When they hit the fine marble steps, two halberdiers on the door, keyed it open in the security pad and flung open the two massive doors right as the guard detachment pounded through. Two valets in the foyer were clubbed down by rifle butts.

A long marble staircase lead, hung with the flags of various members opened, through a set of etched bronze doors to the grand council chambers where a few voices could be heard drifting down to the main floor. Squad after squad fanned out over the main floor as another be caped platoon took the stairs, it’s members the usual two meter tall behemoths in knee length jackboots. The doors banged open under the push of Colonel von Dench, whose cavalry cloak billowed behind him and medals jingle.

“What is the meaning of this colonel?” The Vice Secretary, the geriatrically good-natured Marie LaMariée, snapped from beside the door where she had been fiddling with a laptop. One gloved fist came up and smacked across her the jaw and sent her flying across the slick floor. Blood was spattered across the wall, and the rest of the council was on their feet, silent for once.

“It is only lucky for you we have orders to take you all alive.” Dench strode to the center of the council of chambers, which sat under a massive dome and displayed, in silver filigree a great compass rose.

“So it’s treason then,” Archduke Leopold von Waldenburg II, recently named Minister of the Economy to satiate after a rather poor turn out at the voting poll. He was nearly five hundred pounds and when he stood it was with a lumber of chains and an almost perceptible shift of air. “Entering the council chamber under pretense of violence is an offense, it is treason, against the MU and against your Emperor, Dench.”

“Treason,” the colonel seemed to ponder this for awhile, “Yes, it is, but not against His Majesty these are his orders, these are his directives. And this is a new world order, one which will wipe vermin like you away. A new order which has no place for this silly Union, or it’s little council.” A Glock was produced form a side holster and fired neatly into the Archduke’s thigh were a spat of red began to puddle. Von Waldenburg simply nodded and returned to his seat; he had been shot several times before and what people failed to realize was that you could stick a knife right to the hilt in the man and it’s blade would never strike home.

“There is a plane outside,” Dench continued, “It will take you back to Waldenburg where you will be deposited for safe keeping until such a time as our plans become apparent. No harm, “ he nodded his head and waved his hands about, still gripping the pistol, “no further harm shall befall any of you, unless of course you do something… stupid.” Now he turned to his own men, “take them to the plane and then detonate the charges in the Palace of Justice.” Troops began to rush about taking in their hands, rather gently as if they were fragile China dolls, the mostly elderly leadership of the MU out the door. Eventually, after quite a large amount of bother, the room was empty echoing with the complaints of the ambassadors, executives and ministers of state as they were dragged below. It was eerily peaceful and the room spoke of unfulfilled power and a desire for the same.

“Colonel?” the prisoners are aboard and we are withdrawing our men to the wharf.” A trooper stuck his head around the door and whispered anxiously.

“Yes… All right let’s move, the charges are set? Good. I’m right behind.” The last of the soldiers moved out of the Council Chambers, it had been too easy, the ministry of defense only a few days old, and mostly considered with Colono, had not provided a single guard, beyond those hailing from Waldenburg, to defend the MUIZ. Of course they were almost directly inside The Empire of Yallak, but the Colonel was willing to bet they had at least two days before the stolid Waldenburger captain at the Palace of Defense would reveal that security had not in fact detained the MU leadership in the bomb shelter, but had spirited them out of the country in a heavy transport plane intended for the Waldenburgers. By that time they would be well away and to Chukacon at least. At any rate in the political tension no Air Captain with half a brain would shoot down a Waldenburger transport with diplomatic immunity. It was hoped, and expected that none would find it before the council had been whisked away.

White knuckles rapped gently on the fine wooden door. For weeks the Waldenburgers had switched from rusty cargo container, to bulk freighter, to jet, and back again in a myriad of confusing directions. First they had been ordered to the Hegemony, long before the troubles began, and then when hostilities broke out they had been ordered to meet with the LION, unannounced, and then were once again sent home. Then the moves Gataway and Aschenhyrst had started their ordeals. And that begged a question, a question which had already been answered but none the less one. Within a few weeks of conception, and certain facts coming to light only in the confines of the MU, the information had been acted upon.

Perhaps it was with some haste then that these men had been dispatched with revised orders, but in truth the plan had been in motion since long before the entire Albemeir affair, long before the current, war and even before a hand full of men walked into a desert with the intent to kill. It was on one summer night, in the oddest of places Victoria, were the Cenobiarch had first drawn his plans and started setting the pieces for the greatest game played by the Church. It had been planned then to wipe out the Abrahamic League, burn them by the thousands, all plotted over British drinks,; those early attempts had been rebuffed and then the second phase had started. With Albemier and his terrible blight, and his whole Sons of Sagacity, which after months of torture the Inquisition had spooled out of him; who and what they were. Ever since that point the Church had been, in little ways, in the same familiar manner grown close to the Hegemon and his fraternal organization. So it was with little aplomb that Waldenburgers had slowly slipped into the League. With dedication and ruthlessness that was sometimes required; they climbed the ladder of God.

Fiercely devoted and armed by Church, which in it’s good-natured blindness signed any bill that was passed over it’s desk and gave a bright twinkly eyed smile as pallet after pallet of flamethrowers were delivered to the Holy Basilica. In a round about way they wound up in the clandestine operation, or as more often as not, on guard duty. Though Lord Sumguy had long ago abandoned his affiliation, little scraps of information had flown across the oceans and reached the ears of the Cenobiarch.

Bishop Throm of the Holy Church straightened his modest collar and knocked again, this time before pushing the door open and walking in with his retinue on Lord Sumguy, and as it turned out a small group of others.

“Apologies your Excellency. Security waved me up, I did not know you had company.” The Waldenburger was sweating slightly, this had not been apart of the plan, but it was far too late to turn back now. “I represent the Waldenburg Empire in talks which, we must sadly say were cancelled due to the outbreak of war, perhaps in these sad times it is best we restart them, and rebuild the fraternal bonds of friendship. The MU has also authorized these talks, and you probably have much greater sentiment for them as for my own country of origin.” A large stack of papers was drawn from a briefcase beside the Bishop. “My credentials.” If anyone had ever bothered to read them they would have found that Bishop Throm was the Archduke of Marmalade, three hundred and nine years old, and a world class cellist and five time winner of the Apsley baking competition. As it happened most of it was simply for clang.

With a gentle wrist movement the stack of nearly three hundred heavily bound papers flew through the air heading for the desk. In midair Throm clicked down one lock on the briefcase and caught the blade in midair as it shot up on oiled springs. He was moderately amazed at this feat; it had been two years since the Serene Legion had taught him to kill, and he still marveled at his own grace.

From another sleeve a small pistol was flung and level at Lord Sumguy’s head. From behind the Bishop the sounds of pistols sliding into place and the click of hammers home was a reassuring sound.

“Your Excellency I regret to inform you; our talks have been cancelled again. Under Canonical law, you have been found guilty on over three hundred thousand charges harboring enemies of the Church, and it is my duty to inform you that the Hegemony, and it’s filthy League, it’s association with vice has come to an end. I promise no harm shall come to you, or your guests,” the Bishop waved another two men through the door, each holding two pistols and grinning faintly, bring it to a total of seven, “at least if you cooperate and recant, but that is another matter. Do we have your consent or must we find your daughter, and find out her views on the matter?”

For a moment the room was silent, the Sumguaians present having each drawn a handgun. They sat, suprise and outrage evident upon their features.

"They outnumber us." Claxton said in his native language, looking at the security camera in the room for a moment before turning his gaze to the Hegemon. "We would not win a frefight here, and it would not do for the Hegemon, his top cabinet members, and the Head of the League's high council to die at the same time."

"True enough, George." Lord Sumguy replied, lowering his own weapon and standing up. "Mary, you are to remain here and take over my duties whle I am away."

"Well, this is all rather suprising." He said, now addressing the bishop in english. "I would never had thought that I needed to worry about my 'crimes agaisnt the church of Waldenburg' at a time such as this. Very well, since you appear to have the advantage in numbers and it would no doubt cause more chaos in this nation were we to die here than would be caused in your nation should you be killed, you have my consent. As he spoke, each of them dropped their guns.

Official Protest to the Waldenburg Government
Subject: the seizure of the MUIZ

My esteemed Waldenburger colleauges,
Your seizure of an International Free City and the Diplomats of many nations is at best, deplorable. Your actions are unwarranted. Your holding the Regional Government hostage is clearly an act of state-sponsored terrorism. This action of yours prohibits any response from the Mediterranican Union leadership of being viewed as impartial, but rather as statements made under coersion and duress due to fear of reprisal.. We demand you release the hostages from the non-belligerent nations of this conflict immediately, as a gesture of good-faith and enter into negociations for the release of the others. As this measage is coming to you, we wish to inform you that your posistion is surrounded by forces that oppose the actions you have taken. Yes, you could slaughter all the hostages but that would most assuredly lead to the deaths of your men and further widen the conflict growing in the region as we would be forced to take offensive actions against the Waldenburg nation. Choose your next course of action carefully and consider the welfare of not only your people but the many of innocent lives that will be caught in the cross-fire.

Respectfully,
Benjamin Clark, Prime Minister
Soveriegn Imperial Dominion of Aschenhyrst

OOC EDit: Okayed before hand of course.

“Quite assuredly Your Excellency.” A priest scooted about the floor grabbing fallen weapons and at one point elbowing the Bishop roughly in the stomach. “Quite on the contrary your Excellency we would hate to kill you; it is in the best wishes of the Church for you to stay alive for a very very long time, in the loving embrace of the Church. All must pay for their sins sooner or later; some by fire, some by service, and others with their every living breath in their body. You are of the later category; your friends are however not. So should you slip up, or step out we will start with the eyes and move down to the fingers.” The priests scattered around the room restraining their prisoners lightly, enough to restrict sudden movements but enough to maneuver swiftly.

“And if the subject needs broaching, we will have men still in the country, loyal men faithful men, in every facet and level of your retched administration. You will never sleep again; your government will ever shut its eyes for fear of what is in the darkness; that is unless you cooperate. There is no ill will between nations; but you have a special task. Think not of your misfortune, your country may just survive.” Throm nodded as all the room was put in order. “Little miss.” He turned to the secretary, “I’m going to need you to be unconscious for awhile.” A deacon brought his pistol down hard on the woman’s head and blood spattered across her papers which in turn showered to the ground. “Shall we?”

The office door was pushed open and the small group pulled its prisoners out with Throm in the lead. The stairs were devoid of life, but the front office was too devoid of sound to be devoid of life. Delicately, the bishop stepped around the staircase and caught the first guard right in the neck, and sent him spinning to the floor. Three others around the room jumped at the sudden appearance of the Bishop and tried to raise their rifles. However this was a rather poor choice in action as the Waldenburger had already fired his pistol twice and crumpled one man to the floor, and was already diving behind a heavy wooden desk. Assault rifles kicked and roared as the heavy desk and its burden of papers was launched into the air.

From the staircase another few spates of fire and the two guards were down. And the prisoners were being shuffled down into the office. Another door slammed open and the priests sent a hail of fire screaming towards it knocking down three more men.

“There’s a garage to the left of the building, though that door the League tells us.” One priest, between firing, had opened a map and was studying it in a rather flustered fashion; “The airport is to the west, where His Excellency has a plane. If we steal a staff car.” Another door burst open and a shotgun retort sent the Waldenburgers diving to the ground and another hail of fire to send the guard down. “Claxton should have a set of keys find them.” A hasty search of Claxton’s pockets yielded a set of dull keys, and a cut lip for one of the priests. Lord Sumguy also had a set.

“Through that door” The party of eleven dashed through a door-leading west, as another guard was dropped coming from the rear. It was only a short jog to the garage where two dull black SUVs were soon piled full or guards and prisoners, Claxton and General McAlpin in one car, and Dr. Booker and the Hegemon and another each with a compliment of guards.

According to the map it was only four blocks to the airport, only four blocks, which seemed like thousands of miles. On every turn it appeared the city was ready for war, through dark tinted windows citizens passed in what seemed a darker shade of fear. The war was nearly upon them; they had yet to realize though it had been amongst them for some time.

In a feat of public planning a small paved road lead directly to the Hegemon’s plane a sleek, private jet guarded by at least three men that could be seen. As the two vehicles swung heavily onto the tarmac they increased speed heading for the plane, pounding down the tarmac. As they approached the guards at nearly sixty kilometers to the hour the lead SUV braked skidding sideways towards a pair of guards on the boarding ramp who wisely took the initiative and flung themselves under the plane. Once the forward action had been stopped Throm flung open the passenger door and fired twice onto the ground where the dazed guards were just getting to their feet. Another window rolled down and a sub machine gun was popped out which raked the other visible guard and sent him down.

With a clanking of doors the hostages were hustled out four lead priests grabber them, and using them as bullet shields hustled up into the plane. Two guards, taking cover behind the first row of seats raised their pistols and hesitated, which ultimately turned to be a flaw; both were put down swiftly. The pilot himself, apparently kept at his post at night in day in case there was such an event which necessitated the escape of the Hegemon, was no problem and was quickly subdued with a thump to the back of the head.

Bishop Throm was the last into the plane and pulled up the boarding ramp behind him. The prisoners, the bodies had been thrown out, were already securely attached into their seats. “Martin, take the controls give us as much altitude as possible. Keep us high, and for God’s sakes fast.”

As the plane reached a cruising altitude Lord Sumguy sighed. "By the time anyone is able to pursue us we will be halfway to Waldenburg." He leaned forward, rubbing his temples. "Today has been most stressful."

McAlpin scoffed irritatedly, turing to a preist. "I dont suppose there are peanuts or anything aboard this flight? I didnt get a chance to eat lunch today and I'm very hungry."

"You would think of your stomach at a time like this." Booker said, unable to resist a laugh. "Here we are having been abducted by a government that tortures any who disagree with either it or it's religious policies, and you are focusing on your own hunger."

"An army marches on it's stomach, a general operates in much the same manner." McAlpin growled. "Now that's enough lip from you, Frank."

"Now, I have always wondered," The Hegemon said, steepling his fingers as he addressed the bishop. "What is the stance of the Church of Waldenburg on the book of Revelations? We in the Holy Empire, at least within the episcopalian church, have always maintained that it is symbolic rather than literal truth, and there is much debate as to wether the author was truly divinely inspired."

A theological debate ensued that lasted for several hours. It stopped as the plane began to descend. Booker looked out the window, dread upon his face. "So that is Waldenburg..."

An Asgarnian AWACS operator aboard a naval airborne command and control aircraft noted a small blip on his radar. It appeared to be heading out of the nation. The radar signature presented no major questions, and the operator dismissed the blip as innocents fleeing the embattled country.

The vanishing of Lord Sumguy made no impact on the ships at hand, though it would make much impact on the administration back home (OOC: see other thread.) The Faxanavian forces, their great power and weight giving them a frightening presence, proceeded forward up the coast of Lord Sumguy. They were to arrive in what had been designated the St. Lawrence seaway, and move down it, capturing it and the 5 great lakes that bordered Lord Sumguy as they went. Of course, there would be offensive, which was why they now rested at the mouth of the seaway, preparing their forward offensive. From the decks of each of the 18 mighty carriers lifted small, birdlike fighters. The AF-17 Mudhen was the pride of the Faxanavian Aeronavy. Achieving speeds up to Mach 2, each of these birds was equipped with ballistic penetrators, powerful enough to destroy bunkers and rip apart ships. There were, in all, over 3,600 planes on all of the carriers- 18 carriers, each capable of carrying up to 200 planes, achieved the needs for the Faxanavian Aeronavy. Now, roughly half of these took flight, forming a great swarm in the sky which would hurtle down the St. Louis seaway, striking any enemy ships they could spot with their ballistic penetrators. Half of the half had been designated as defensive- they carried the usual missile load of AF-17's, in the likely event of an aerial counterattack. However, the others were each equipped with 4 Paveway III ballistic penetrators a piece, and ready to destroy the enemy's defenses.

FPS Victoria Foyle
Combined Flotilla South
On approach to Lord Sumguy
1300 hours

"Ms. Foyle," the rigid, green-uniformed figure on the observation deck called out. "Forward elements of the RRF-Piccavian Combined Flotilla South are now within missile firing range of the landing zones. Requesting approval to fire."

"At ease, Vice Admiral Speer," the war minister said, turning away to the transphase aluminum windows through which she had been gazing at the sea. "Are your men ready to, ah, rock and ruin?"

"Rock and ruin, ma'am?" asked the director of the RRF Naval Command, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Yes, Mr. Speer, as opposed to, you know, rock and roll."

"Ah, I see," Speer replied, indicating that he still didn't get it.

"Regardless, Supreme Commander von Kleist and I have discussed this thoroughly, Vice Admiral," Victoria said. "Engage in immediate bombardment of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Savannah, Georgia, and Wilmington, North Carolina. There's no sense in revealing our hand too early, now is there?"

"No, ma'am," the Vice Admiral said, saluting. "I shall relay your commands to my Bundesmarine counterpart immediately."

Within the next five minutes, Combined Flotilla South began to open fire on the three designated targets, launching not only EMP missiles at each, but hundreds, if not thousands, of thermobaric missiles at the targets, focusing on what satellite reconnaissance had identified as militarily significant targets - airports, naval harbors, military facilities, coastal emplacements, major transportation hubs, Sumguian fleet elements nearby each location. Not a thing would be left standing.

Meanwhile, nearly four thousand aircraft prepared to take to the skies once the flotilla prepared to make the landing on Lord Sumguy's shores.

OOC: At this point i ask that the naval manuevering be temporarily halted until the kidnapping situation unfolds, as such would take less than a day of game time and other events, such as amphibious assualts or naval battles, happening during that time would disrupt the chronological setup.

humor me, for i care about the battles that will no doubt occur far less than i do the story.

Kartika, Kirav

Thunder.

The ancient Coscivs, before their adoption of Coscivian Theism, had thought that it was the battle cry of their pagan gods. Now, their descendants in Kirav, though tempered by centuries of monotheism, were tempted to think the same as a wild thunderstorm thrashed against the buildings of the Empire's capital, as if threatening to bring down the walls that had held against even stronger storms for ages.

Just the same, a thunderstorm was raging in the world, threatening to smash through an Empire that had watched the winds of war and rains of blood roil about it as long as its people could remember.

Salium Sénata

"Gentlemen," said Legate Kêrin Vendikur, pacing the perimeter of the cream-coloured marble room, "We face one of the most, if not the most difficult decisions that this Senate, of this Empire, will ever have to make. The League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations has declared war upon the Hegemony, to which we voted to accede. Fortunately, we have been ignored in the military actions of LION thus far. It is possible," he paused, looked at the rest of the Senate, "For us to keep inert and remain unharmed."

"However," he continued, "When we sent off that telegraph to the Sumguaians sealing our membership to the Hegemony, we made a promise to fight for her until the end. This fight is upon us. Noble nations are being threatened, civilians and entire civilised societies are at stake.

I am a Kelnordev. My culture prides both the honour and commitment of the people of Kaldin and Ieurlin, and the warrior spirit of Northern Coscivia. As a result, I have no choice but to bring before this Senate, the proposal that we honour our commitment now, that we fight for our allies and for the shared belief in liberty and security. Gentlemen, I hereby propose full declaration of war on the League of Imperial Ocean-faring Nations by the Kiravian Empire in defence of the Holy Empire of Lord Sumguy and the other states of the Hegemony as per our commitment to the Treaty forming that alliance."

"I second the motion," added an Ensciryan from the back of the Senate Hall.

Chancellor Evergreen nodded in recognition, allowing the Clerk to read, "The Proposal for Declaration of War on LION as mandated by the Hegemony, proposed by the Colony of Borenesia, has been moved and seconded. The floor is now open for debate."

Lord Pinebrake stood to present his counter-argument. "Gentlemen, it is true that the Hegemony has been attacked. It is true that we are called to defend our friends in peril. But it is a stroke of luck that we have been ignored. If we act contrary to the break that Fate has given us, we will share the fate of Greal, Lord Sumguy, and the others. Our territory shall be burnt and pillaged, our civilisation broken and deunified. Our citizens shall be blent. We would be confronting a barbarian alliance so evil, that it blends people as you and I would blend ice cream and fruit for a midday snack. To go to war in defence of the Hegemony would mean putting the lives of foriegners, Nonkiravisav, over our own people, who we have sworn to serve and protect. Aye, we did swear to fight for the Hegemony a few months ago. But it was centuries ago that this Senate was created to protect the inhabitants of a Confederacy of Republics shivering from fear and cold on the edge of a continent. But maybe we have forgotten that. Maybe Raincedar's internationalism, Seawind's lack of will to concentrate on the Empire, have impaired our vision. Have we lost sight of the fact that we are the Kiravian Senate? That we are here to serve Kiravians, not foriegners? Gentlemen, we must stay silent, inactive, and uninvolved. We may be slightly dishonoured, but we will be alive."

Looks like we need to pull the Sienna Manuver, thought Vendikur. The Sienna Manuver, named for its first user, was a deliberative tool used to convince non-interventionists and the Kirav First crowd to declare war in favour of an ally, using something along te line of "If they go, we're next".
